Jacob Bethell will bat at No 3 on his England Test debut against New Zealand - just days after being picked up in the IPL auction for £250,000 - as Ollie Pope moves down the order Jacob Bethell will bat at No 3 on his England Test debut against New Zealand The 21-year-old made his ODI and T20 debuts just two months ago in September By LAWRENCE BOOTH Published: 22:40 GMT, 25 November 2024 | Updated: 22:40 GMT, 25 November 2024 e-mail View comments Jacob Bethell will bat at No 3 on his Test debut in Christchurch on Wednesday night after England were forced to rejig their plans following Jordan Cox’s broken thumb. The move means Ollie Pope – who will take the gloves for the first time in two years – will drop down three places to No 6, while captain Ben Stokes comes in at No 7. The 21-year-old Bethell has never batted at No 3 in his 20 first-class games for Warwickshire, which have produced a modest 738 runs at an average of 25. And he has batted at No 4 only twice. He will also be the first specialist batter to play Test cricket for England without a first-class hundred under his belt since Mike Gatting in 1978. The news completes a heady couple of days for Bethell, after he was picked up in the IPL auction by Royal Challengers Bangalore for just under £250,000. And it means he will have made his international debut in all three formats in less than three months, after breaking into the white-ball sides against Australia in September. For Pope, who last kept wicket in a Test at Multan in December 2022, the rejig spares him further scrutiny at No 3, where he has reached 30 only once in his last 12 Test innings. Jacob Bethell will bat at No 3 on his Test debut in Christchurch on Wednesday night Bethell made his T20 debut on September 11 this year and his ODI debut just eight days later Stokes, meanwhile, could be liberated by his move to No 7, after struggling for runs on his return to the Test side from injury in Pakistan. He will be one of four seamers in the side, along with Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse, with Shoaib Bashir the lone frontline spinner on a Hagley Oval surface that looked green 48 hours out from the start of the three-match series. TLX250-CDx is an investigational PET3 drug product for the non-invasive diagnosis and characterization of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), the most common and aggressive form of kidney cancer. If approved, TLX250-CDx will be the first and only targeted PET agent specifically for kidney cancer to be commercially available in the U.S., further building on Telix's successful urology imaging franchise. The FDA is expected to advise the PDUFA4 goal date following the 60-day administrative review of the application. Kevin Richardson, Chief Executive Officer, Precision Medicine at Telix, stated,“We are pleased to be progressing the BLA for TLX250-CDx, which has been granted Breakthrough designation, and may therefore be eligible for priority review. Telix continues to target a full U.S. commercial launch in 2025 addressing a major unmet medical need for patients with suspected ccRCC.” About TLX250-CDx TLX250-CDx (Zircaix®1) is an investigational PET agent that is under development for the diagnosis and characterization of ccRCC. Telix's pivotal Phase III ZIRCON trial (ClinicalTrials.gov ID: NCT03849118 ) evaluating TLX250-CDx in 300 patients, of whom 284 were evaluable, met all primary and secondary endpoints, including showing 86% sensitivity and 87% specificity and a 93% positive-predictive value for ccRCC across three independent radiology readers5. Telix believes this demonstrated the ability of TLX250-CDx to reliably detect the clear cell phenotype and provide an accurate, non-invasive method for diagnosing and characterizing ccRCC. Confidence intervals exceeded expectations amongst all three readers, showing evidence of high accuracy and consistency of interpretation. WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — It wasn’t how Duke drew up the final play, but it worked out perfect for the Blue Devils in Saturday’s 23-17 victory over Wake Forest. Maalik Murphy threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Moore as time expired, allowing Duke to end the regular season with three consecutive victories. Murphy said he realized he took too long to make a decision after the last snap. “I knew at that point I had to make a play,” he said. “The damage was already done, time was ticking.” With the score tied at 17, the Blue Devils (9-3, 5-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) moved 76 yards in 1:22 after forcing a Wake Forest punt. It appeared that Duke might run out of time in the slow-developing play, but Moore improvised and broke free along the right side, caught the ball at the 10-yard line and spun into the end zone to complete a comeback from 14 points down in the second half. “The play that Maalik and Jordan put together was magical,” Duke coach Manny Diaz said. “Nobody thought a 5-yard route would turn into a (long) touchdown.” So instead of a long field-goal attempt, Duke had something better. “I just decided to take it down the field,” Moore said. “I think that’s a testament to our chemistry. ... Maalik had the confidence in himself to make that kind of play.” It resulted in Duke’s sixth victory by seven points or less. “It’s like a perfect exclamation point to our season,” Diaz said. “An unbelievable way to finish our season.” Murphy racked up with 235 yards on 26-for-34 passing. Moore, who was down with an injury after a reception earlier in the second half, made five catches for 98 yards. Hank Bachmeier threw for 207 yards and a touchdown as Wake Forest (4-8, 2-6) ended its second straight four-win season with a four-game losing streak. “A heartbreaking loss,” Demon Deacons coach Dave Clawson said. “It’s a tough way to lose a game and a tough way to end the season.” Tate Carey’s 8-yard run, Matthew Dennis’ 37-yard field goal and Horatio Fields’ 9-yard reception across 11 minutes of game time gave Wake Forest a 17-3 lead with nine minutes left in the third quarter. Duke took advantage of a short field following a punt, moving 42 yards in four plays to score on Star Thomas’ 3-yard run. The Blue Devils recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff and converted on Murphy’s 2-yard run with 12:57 left to pull even. “What has been proven is that we’re mentally tough,” Diaz said. “We’re not going to do everything perfect.” Taylor Morin became Wake Forest’s all-time leader in receiving yards with 2,974. He picked up 47 yards on eight catches on Saturday. Morin, in his fifth season, passed former NFL player Ricky Proehl, who had 2,929 yards in the late 1980s. Duke: The Blue Devils have secured at least a nine-win season for the second time in three seasons, this one coming in Diaz’s first season. They racked up a 4-0 record against in-state opponents, including comebacks to top North Carolina and Wake Forest. “Every quest that we have for championships starts in our own state,” Diaz said. Wake Forest: The Demon Deacons punted on their final three possessions of the season. They finished with a 1-6 record in home games. “It’s been a tough year, a long year, and I’m proud of our team and how hard they fought,” Clawson said. The ambitious project, aimed at expediting rural connectivity in the state, is proposed to be undertaken under the fourth phase of the PMGSY, which will continue until the 2028-29 fiscal year. Of the 500 aspirational blocks identified by NITI Aayog, Uttar Pradesh accounts for the highest number at 68, followed by Bihar with 61. The 68 aspirational blocks also include those in eight aspirational districts: Bahraich, Balrampur, Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Shravasti, Siddharthnagar, Sonbhadra, and Fatehpur. PMGSY-4 entails financial assistance for the construction of 62,500 km of all-weather roads in 25,000 unconnected habitations across 500 aspirational blocks nationwide. The total outlay for this scheme is estimated at over Rs 70,000 crore. A senior UPRRDA official said that the all-weather roads would play a crucial role in catalysing the socio-economic development and transformation of remote rural areas. PMGSY-4 will incorporate international benchmarks and best practices in road construction, such as cold mix technology, waste plastic, panelled cement concrete, cell-filled concrete, full depth reclamation, and the use of construction waste and other materials like fly ash and steel slag, according to a press note from the Centre. The Fall of Ant Group's IPO: Alibaba's Missteps, Legal Battles, and a $433.5M SettlementThe last thing the San Francisco 49ers needed for their Week 12 matchup with the Green Bay Packers was to be without their starting quarterback, but it appears they may have to deal with that scenario. Brock Purdy left practice on Thursday after throwing just a few passes in the section of the session open to media. According to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area , Purdy was seen getting his shoulder rubbed by head athletic trainer Dustin Little before the quarterback left prior to the start of practice. Purdy has been dealing with shoulder soreness in the wake of the 49ers' surprise loss to the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday, one which left them 5-5 and bottom of the NFC West. He was officially listed as limited for Thursday's session, but the 49ers' decision to push the usual quarterback media session back to Friday suggested there is a strong chance Purdy will not play at Lambeau Field. If that proves to be the case, Brandon Allen would get the start under center for the 49ers. Joshua Dobbs is the third-stringer. Nick Bosa and Trent Williams again missed practice, while reigning Offensive Player of the Year Christian McCaffrey was back after a rest day on Wednesday. Rookie wide receiver Jacob Cowing sat out the session after being limited on Wednesday, indicating he is on course to miss the game with a concussion suffered against Seattle. 49ers injury report This article first appeared on A to Z Sports and was syndicated with permission.
