Nagpur: With the counting for the assembly election to take place on Saturday, the administration has made all the necessary arrangements. According to the district administration, around 2,124 officials will be involved in the counting process, apart from the security personnel who will be deployed at counting centres for security purposes. Speaking to TOI, Collector Vipin Itankar said that the EVMs will be taken out of the strong room under three-layered security at 8am. "All the necessary arrangements have been made, and the entire counting process will be webcast. The counting centres are adjacent to strong rooms, so the EVMs will be shifted under tight security. No one, except counting officials and political agents, will be allowed in the area," said Itankar. He also stated that counting will begin with postal ballots. "The counting will be done in rounds, and we are hoping to complete the first round by 8.30am or 8.45am. We hope to complete the counting process by 4pm, but some areas might take longer," said Itankar. Nagpur district has 12 assembly seats with 217 candidates in the fray. According to officials, the Nagpur Central seat will have the most rounds at 30, followed by Saoner, Nagpur South-West, Nagpur East, and Kamptee, which will see 27 rounds each. The Katol assembly constituency, at 17, will have the least number of counting rounds. The district administration has also deployed the necessary manpower at these counting centres. The counting centre of Nagpur West will have the highest number of administrative officials — 280, followed by Umred and Nagpur South-West seats, which will have 250 officials each. The Saoner constituency counting centre will have the least number of officials — 94. The administration has also arranged 294 tables on which the counting will be done for all the 12 assembly constituencies in the district. After the counting concludes, the winning candidates will have to visit their respective counting centres to collect their winning certificates. After the completion of the counting process, all the used EVMs from all the 12 counting centres will be shifted to Kalamna, where they will be kept in strong rooms for 45 days. If no election petition is filed during this period, all the EVMs will be shifted to Hingna. The administration and the traffic department have also made ample parking arrangements at all the counting centres. Returning officers of all the constituencies will keep a close eye on the process while collector Itankar will monitor all the 12 counting centres. Meanwhile, on the eve of result day, politicians and party workers had placed bulk orders for sweets, anticipating victories.

Jovani Moran on the way out for Minnesota The Minnesota Twins made an appearance at the Winter Meetings, but they weren’t very active while present. The lone move came in the form of Rule 5 Draft selection Eiberson Castellano . Left-handed reliever Jovani Moran was available to clubs in that draft, but went unselected. Now he’s headed to the Boston Red Sox for utility man Mickey Gasper. We have acquired UTL Mickey Gasper from the Red Sox in exchange for LHP Jovani Móran. Moran didn’t pitch for the Twins last season as he underwent Tommy John surgery. He posted a 5.31 ERA across 42 1/3 innings in 2023 and a 2.21 ERA in 40 2/3 innings during 2022. The lefty looked like he could be an option for Rocco Baldelli ’s bullpen this season. Boston needed to clear room for the acquisition of Walker Buehler . Moran gives them a guy who can be a weapon if the command ever tightens up. His changeup remains a serious weapon. Mickey Gasper could solve Twins catching depth Gasper has an interesting profile. The 29-year-old was a 27th round pick by the New York Yankees in 2018. He made his major league debut last season with the Red Sox. The switch-hitter played in 13 games and tallied just 23 plate appearances. He scored a run while walking four times but is 0-for-18 to start his career. He has primarily split time between first base and catcher. This could be a move that paves the way for Christian Vazquez to be traded as the roster has only Ryan Jeffers and Jair Camargo as alternatives. A 15% caught stealing rate isn’t exactly ideal, but Gasper owns a better offensive profile. Across 407 minor league games, he has a .275/.392/.449 slash line. Last season between Double an Triple-A, Gasper owned a .970 OPS with 12 home runs. He has elite plate discipline and that was reflected by a 42/56 K/BB rate. It remains to be seen where the Minnesota Twins will go from here. This is another piece of the offseason puzzle though, and comes just before Santa Claus passes over Target Field. Rotuisolia had popped the question last year during their family visit to Papua New Guinea. “I popped the question there, but I asked her father first, as it was a blessing, and her father agreed,” Rotuisolia said. The couple has been courting for three years. “I saw her pop up one day on my socials as she’s also a swimmer,” he said. “It was nice to get one athletic girlfriend. Sports connected us. “First, I wanted to make sure that she is the one. I am now willing to spend my life with her. I had to make sure that mom likes her first,” he chuckled. Honeymoon was put on hold as Rotuisolia had to travel with the team for a one-week training camp in Kadavu last week. The couple flew out on Monday for their honeymoon. “The visit to Kadavu was beautiful for most of us. That was my first time in Kadavu. The taste of fish there was amazing. About Vele-Tuisolia Her dad is from PNG while her mum is Australian. She was born on the Gold Coast, but grew up in PNG. She started representing PNG when she was 14 and has been an international swimmer for 12 years. “Yeah, it was perfect. It was everything I wanted. It was just us two, no one else,” Vele-Rotuisolia said. “He is a rugby player and he would be busy with moving,” she said. “It was long distance up until I moved here. “As a swimmer I’ve always been traveling. It sort of worked out for both of us, I understand his commitment and he understands mine.” She will be based in Nadi for the next season. “It’ll just be nice for him to come home to someone rather than always going home to the empty house.” She was a bit upset about their honeymoon being moved due to the Kadavu tour. “When he first told me I was a little bit upset. I understand his commitments and the sacrifices he must make and I’m happy to make them with him. The biggest thing was we got married and that was that was what was important and then we’ve got the rest of our lives to celebrate our union.” 2025 the year Rotuisolia said 2025 would be a good year. “The focus now will be rugby, what’s happening next year. “This year has been a good year for me as well, good year for both of us but with her here next year permanently as well, helps me with my diet, my training and all stuff like that,” he said. “Really just excited for next year and what the journey next year brings for both of us. “Like next year we both plan to aim for something big.
