Thermals remain stable even with data usage, data performance is more consistent, and battery life is predictable, averaging around 4-5 hours of screen-on time – which is a terrible metric but the best we have. While faster charging would be desirable, it’s a minor gripe. These were the most significant issues with previous Tensor chips, and their absence is a significant improvement. And, of course, everyday performance is exceptional across social media, content consumption, and other tasks. UFS 3.1 storage isn’t “slow” in the traditional sense, but it is noticeable if you have come from a recent OnePlus or Samsung phone for instance. It stills hurts that Google couldn’t give us that upgrade for the Pro lineup this time around. It’s a must for next year. The full-fat Pixel camera Since Google decided to split things in 2021, a small Pixel with a complete camera has always felt like the dream. Without exaggerating too much, this has been the best decision in recent years. It’s simply awesome to have your cake and eat it, too. Along with the XL, the Pixel 9 Pro has the most versatile Pixel camera yet. Being able to zoom without compromising still feels like magic on a phone this small. It has become increasingly clear that Google’s camera lead has been effectively destroyed. By modern flagship Android phone standards, this isn’t the best. It’s barely even “Pro.” Instead, after an extensive period, it’s yet another exceptional “point and shoot” system that shouldn’t let you down no matter the situation. One thing that is obvious, though, is how the signature Pixel look has been diluted. Images are starting to feel more in sync with what other OEMs are doing on their own Android camera systems. The camera’s ‘manual-lite’ mode simplifies settings adjustments for those less familiar with photography, but we’re still itching for a more in-depth set of controls that let us play around with a solid set of sensors and lenses. Some issues exist. Nighttime photos still exhibit significant lens flare from background lights, potentially ruining or distracting from the image. This is particularly frustrating, given the camera’s obvious low-light capabilities. Another minor issue is the somewhat abrupt transitions between lenses during zooming. It’s great that Video Boost fixes that problem, but why do we need to process the video before that problem is diminished? Another weird quirk that still irks is the stark visual difference between what you see in the viewfinder and what a picture looks like when processed. Is this a limitation of the Tensor chip? Processing is way behind other phones. It dulls the sheen of what often feels like the complete small phone camera experience. Is the Pixel 9 Pro the best high-end small phone ever? Lots of people have been clamoring to get hold of a smaller Pixel phones that doesn’t skimp on the extras, the tangible upgrades, and particularly the camera system. A new form factor poses lots of questions pre-and-post launch that can’t always be answered right away. The addition of Android 15 to the Pixel 9 Pro has added to the allure. It’s a better buy because of the numerous updates. It’s also the perfect contrast to the ballooning behemoth slabs that most Android phones have become in recent years. Rex Heuermann pleaded not guilty to killing Valerie Mack, whose remains were first found on Long Island in 2000. Mack, 24, had been working as an escort in Philadelphia and was last seen by her family that year in Port Republic, Atlantic County. Some of Mack’s skeletal remains were initially discovered in Manorville, New York; authorities found more of her remains about 50 miles west, in Gilgo Beach, more than 10 years later. They were unidentified until genetic testing revealed her identity in 2020. His daughter is not accused of any wrongdoing and would have been 3 or 4 years old when Mack died. Heuermann, 61, is charged with killing six other women whose remains were found on Long Island. The case has dragged on through five police commissioners, more than 1,000 tips, and doubts about whether there was a serial killer at all. Heuermann, who lived with his wife and two children in Massapequa Park on Long Island and commuted to a Manhattan architecture office, was arrested on July 13, 2023. At that point, he was charged with murdering Barthelemy, Waterman and Amber Lynn Costello. Earlier this year, he was charged in the deaths of three other women — Brainard-Barnes , Taylor and Sandra Costilla . Atlantic County detectives don't believe there is a connection between the Gilgo Beach and West Atlantic City murders. In a June court filing, prosecutors said they had recovered a file on a hard drive in Heuermann’s basement that he used to “methodically blueprint” his killings — including checklists with tasks for before, during and after, as well as lessons for “next time.” In court papers on Tuesday, prosecutors said the document, which was created the same year as Mack’s murder, includes details that align with her case. For example, it names “Mill Road” — a road near where Mack’s first remains were found — under the heading “DS,” which investigators believe stands for “dump site.” The document also lists “foam drain cleaner” under “Supplies.” Prosecutors say that on Oct. 3, 2000, Heuermann’s phone records appear to show him making two calls to a Long Island plumbing company, and he paid another company the following month to check his mainline drain. In recent searches of Heuermann’s home and office, authorities say they found old magazines and newspapers with articles about the Gilgo Beach killings and investigation that prosecutors believe he kept as “souvenirs” or “mementos.” Among them was a July 29, 2003, copy of the New York Post that included an article about the investigation into Mack and Taylor’s remains. Tierney said Tuesday that evidence points to Heuermann’s home as the scene of the killings — in most cases, when his family was out of town. Heuermann’s estranged wife, Asa Ellerup, said in a statement that she still does not believe her husband was capable of committing the crimes he’s accused of. (AP) — Indianapolis quarterback Anthony Richardson has been ruled out for the Colts' big game at the New York Giants on Sunday. Richardson missed practice on Thursday and Friday because of back and foot injuries. He was listed as questionable before he was downgraded to out on Saturday. Indianapolis (7-8) has a slim chance of making the playoffs. The Colts need to win out and get some help. Richardson's absence likely means Joe Flacco will start against New York. Flacco, a New Jersey native who turns 40 on Jan. 16, has passed for 1,167 yards and nine touchdowns in six games this season, including four starts. He also has thrown five interceptions. The 22-year-old Richardson was selected by Indianapolis with the No. 4 pick in the 2023 draft. He has passed for 1,814 yards and eight touchdowns with 12 interceptions this year. Of the other four members of the nine, Tan Duc Thanh Nguyen died in prison, ringleaders Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran were executed in 2015, and Renae Lawrence was released in 2018 when her 20-year sentence was commuted. Indonesia's co-ordinating minister for legal affairs Yusril Ihza Mahendra revealed to The Australian a transfer could be made under the framework of mutual legal assistance. Mr Albanese made the request to president Subianto during the APEC conference in Peru in November. Ms Cash told Clennell given the situation has escalated in the past 24 hours, it was required of the Prime Minister to "stand up" and answer the question in front of the Australian people: "What is the deal?" "What has he extracted in relation for the deal? What is Australia giving up in relation to the deal? How much is it going to cost the Australian taxpayer?" Ms Cash said. "Will they continue to serve their prison sentences because they have been sentenced to life imprisonment in Indonesia? Will they continue to serve them out in Australia? And if not, why not? "Who's paying for it?" The shadow attorney-general said it was a "reality" Mr Albanese did not have a "great track record" when it came to dealing with criminals, referencing the government's handling of the 215 freed NZYQ detainees after the High Court's decision last November.
