Kim Kardashian has been dealt a blow after sustaining a serious injury that has seen her on crutches. The well-known celebrity, aged 44, revealed to her followers this evening a picture of her foot encased in a black medical boot with the caption: "FML. Broken my foot for the holidays." She spared her fans the details of the accident but was recently seen celebrating her son's birthday just yesterday. Saint, whom she shares with former partner Kanye West, turned nine and received a heartfelt tribute from his mum on social media. Kim wrote: "My birthday boy Saint turns 9 today. I was going through my photos and most of our pics are snuggling cuddling pics. I always wanna believe that my little man will be this snuggly forever! So cheers to one of my soulmates for being the sweetest boy. Happy birthday. I love you." The incident comes merely a week after Kim shared images on her Instagram where she was donning a figure-hugging white costume, red fishnet tights, and stiletto heels. In those snaps, she’s seen posing beside a full-length mirror with her back to the camera, turning her head to strike a pose - her foot evidently unharmed then, although fans focused their attention on other elements of the post, reports the Mirror . Some followers have accused the reality TV star of altering her photo, pointing out that her reflection in a mirror next to her appeared different, suggesting her bum looked altered. A user took to the KUWTK Snark subreddit to post a screengrab of the photo, commenting: " Mirror, Mirror on the Wall. Oops! She forgot to photoshop the mirror. Reality photobombed her photoshop ph**kery." They continued: "The mirror doesn't lie." The thread quickly filled with comments from people expressing their strong distaste for the celebrity. One person remarked: "'Her a** is HUGE here and she's clearly photoshopped thinner, so imagine how big it must really be now...." Another chimed in: "She is such a joke. Everybody grab your popcorn and tune in to see how this s*** show ends." Meanwhile, Kim has been occupied with filming for her part in Ryan Murphy's upcoming show All's Fair, having previously collaborated with him on American Horror Story: Delicate. She returns to the set for the new series, which also features Sarah Paulson, Glenn Close, Niecy Nash-Betts, Teyana Taylor, and Naomi Watts. While details about the production remain tightly sealed, both Kim and Sarah are executive producers for the series. Sarah recently heaped praise on Kim's performance in a chat with Variety, saying: "It's wonderful. She's incredibly present. She's fun, she's game, she's alive to the moment, she's great." She also shared that on their first day of filming, she was gifted a basket brimming with Skims products. Kim's shapewear brand, launched merely five years ago, has already been donned by a host of celebrities.Even as he sought to instil confidence in Nikhil Kumaraswamy to courageously face the loss in the byelections to the Channapatna Assembly constituency, former Minister and JD(S) Core Committee chief G.T. Deve Gowda on Saturday said he was not invited by the party for the election campaign in Channapatna. Fielding reporters’ queries, Mr. Gowda said he was not invited for the campaign during the recent bypolls in Channapatna by either the candidate, his mother Anitha Kumaraswamy or former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda. However, he said he was not upset with Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy. “I am not miffed with him. We are together. But, this is how he treats me,” he lamented. Pointing out that his son and Hunsur MLA G.D. Harish Gowda had participated in the campaign, Mr. Gowda said the JD(S) leadership may be thinking that his son is enough. “They have decided that G.T. Deve Gowda is now aged. His son has come into the field. Son is enough. Enough of G.T. Deve Gowda’s politics,” he remarked. Mr. Gowda also sought to clarify that he has not been invited by the Congress to join the party. Though he had spoken to Congress leaders including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D .K. Shivakumar, and Central Congress leaders including Randeep Surjewala and K.C. Venugopal before the Assembly elections, he has not spoken to any Congress leaders after the elections. When his attention was drawn to Mr. Siddaramaiah’s reported statement in a public function about asking Mr. Gowda to make up his mind, Mr. Gowda said Mr. Siddaramaiah had not spoken to him directly and invited him to join the party. Mr. Gowda said the JD(S) leadership does not have a place for him in the party as it has tied up with the BJP while the party leadership also knows that the Congress will also not accommodate him. “So, they want me to retire from politics,” Mr. Gowda remarked. Bypolls Mr. Gowda said he was not aware of the reasons for the JD(S) candidate’s debacle in the bypolls, but said victory and loss were common in democracy. Also, it was common for ruling parties to win in byelections, he said. Though Mr. Nikhil should have won in his third election, Mr. Gowda said there have been instances in which candidates have lost three times before going on to win and becoming Ministers. “He should face the loss courageously and work towards building the party,” Mr. Gowda said. DENVER — So you're the most valuable player of that annual Thanksgiving Day backyard flag football game. Or played tackle football on any level. Or ran track. Or dabbled in basketball. Or toyed with any sport, really. Well, this may be just for you: USA Football is holding talent identification camps all over the country to find that next flag football star. It's "America's Got Talent" meets "American Idol," with the stage being the field and the grand prize a chance to compete for a spot on a national team. Because it's never too early to start planning for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, where flag football will make its Summer Games debut. Know this, though — it's not an easy team to make. The men's and women's national team rosters are at "Dream Team" status given the men's side has captured six of the last seven world championships and the women three in a row. To remain on top, the sport's national governing body is scouring every football field, park, track, basketball court and gym to find hidden talent to cultivate. USA Football has organized camps and tryouts from coast to coast for anyone ages 11 to 23. There are more than a dozen sites set up so far, ranging from Dallas (Sunday) to Chicago (Dec. 14) to Tampa (March 29) to Los Angeles (TBD) and the Boston area (April 27), where it will be held at Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots. The organization has already partnered with the NFL on flag football initiatives and programs. The numbers have been through the roof, with engagement on social media platforms increasing by 86% since flag football was announced as an Olympic invitational sport in October 2023. The participation of boys and girls ages 6 to 17 in flag football last year peaked at more than 1.6 million, according to USA Football research. "We pride ourselves on elevating the gold standard across the sport," said Eric Mayes, the managing director of the high performance and national teams for USA Football. "We want to be the best in the world — and stay the best in the world." Flag football was one of five new sports added to the LA28 program. The already soaring profile of American football only figures to be enhanced by an Olympic appearance. Imagine, say, a few familiar faces take the field, too. Perhaps even NFL stars such as Tyreek Hill or Patrick Mahomes, maybe even past pro football greats donning a flag belt for a country to which they may have ties. Soon after flag football's inclusion, there was chatter of NFL players possibly joining in on the fun. Of course, there are logistical issues to tackle before their inclusion at the LA Olympics, which open July 14, 2028. Among them, training camp, because the Olympics will be right in the middle of it. The big question is this: Will owners permit high-priced players to duck out for a gold-medal pursuit? No decisions have yet been made on the status of NFL players for the Olympics. For now, it's simply about growing the game. There are currently 13 states that sanction girls flag football as a high school varsity sport. Just recently, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles helped pave the way to get it adopted in Pennsylvania. Around the world, it's catching on, too. The women's team from Japan took third at the recent word championships, while one of the best players on the planet is Mexico quarterback Diana Flores. "Could flag football globally become the new soccer? That's something to aspire to," said Stephanie Kwok, the NFL's vice president of flag football. This type of flag football though, isn't your Thanksgiving Day game with family and friends. There's a learning curve. And given the small roster sizes, versatility is essential. Most national team members need to be a version of Colorado's two-way standout and Heisman hopeful Travis Hunter. Forget bump-and-run coverage, too, because there's no contact. None. That took some adjusting for Mike Daniels, a defensive back out of West Virginia who earned a rookie minicamp invitation with the Cleveland Browns in 2017. "If a receiver is running around, I'm thinking, 'OK, I can kind of bump him here and there and nudge him,'" Daniels explained. "They're like, 'No, you can't.' I'm just like, 'So I'm supposed to let this guy just run?!' I really rebelled at the idea at first. But you learn." The competition for an Olympic roster spot is going to be fierce because only 10 players are expected to make a squad. The best 10 will earn it, too, as credentials such as college All-American or NFL All-Pro take a backseat. "I would actually love" seeing NFL players try out, said Daniels, who's also a personal trainer in Miami. "I'm not going to let you just waltz in here, thinking, 'I played NFL football for five years. I'm popular. I have a huge name.' I'm still better than you and I'm going to prove it — until you prove otherwise." Around the house, Bruce Mapp constantly swivels his hips when turning a hallway corner or if his daughter tries to reach for a hug. It's his way of working on avoiding a "defender" trying to snare the flag. That approach has earned the receiver out of Coastal Carolina four gold medals with USA Football. The 31-year-old fully plans on going for more gold in Los Angeles. "You grow up watching Usain Bolt (win gold) and the 'Redeem Team' led by Kobe Bryant win a gold medal, you're always thinking, 'That's insane.' Obviously, you couldn't do it in your sport, because I played football," said Mapp, who owns a food truck in the Dallas area. "With the Olympics approaching, that (gold medal) is what my mind is set on." It's a common thought, which is why everything — including talent camps — starts now. "Everybody thinks, 'Yeah, the U.S. just wins,'" Daniels said. "But we work hard all the time. We don't just walk in. We don't just get off the bus thinking, 'We're going to beat people.'" The Philadelphia Phillies failed to reach the World Series after having high hopes in 2024. They could be aggressive this winter and try to build a championship roster. During an appearance on MLB Network's Hot Stove, Anthony Castrovince proposed this three-team trade between the Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals and Seattle Mariners that brings multiple All-Stars to Philadelphia in a seven-player blockbuster: Phillies receive: third baseman Nolan Arenado, right-handed pitcher Ryan Helsley, right-handed pitcher Ryan Hancock and cash considerations Cardinals receive: outfielder Justin Crawford, right-handed pitcher Mike Abel and outfielder Lazaro Montes Mariners receive: third baseman Alec Bohm Bohm is "on the trade block," according to ESPN's Jeff Passan . However, Castrovince notes that it does not necessarily make sense for the Cardinals to take on Bohm. The Phillies third baseman earned his first All-Star selection in 2024, but Castrovince does not see him as a fit for the Cardinals. However, if the Cardinals trade Helsley and Arenado, they are going to want significant prospect capital. With Bohn going to the Mariners, the Phillies would send their No. 3 and No. 6 prospects, according to MLB Pipeline , to the Cardinals. Seattle would send their No.3 prospect to the Cardinals as well. The Cardinals would get two of the Phillies' best young prospects while the Phillies get an eight-time All-Star in Arenado and a two-time All-Star in Helsley. Helsley just led Major League Baseball in saves and would take over as the closer the Phillies have long been searching for. Arenado would instantly take over for Bohm in the hot corner. Arenado slashed .272/.325/.719 with 16 home runs last season. He is a 10-time Gold Glover and six-time Platinum Glover. The Phillies would be moving on from Bohm when his value is as high as it has ever been. He will not be a free agent until after the 2026 season. TikTok has edged closer to a potential ban in the United States after losing a legal bid to overturn legislation targeting the app’s Chinese ownership. On Friday, the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit upheld a law requiring TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, to sell the platform to a non-Chinese owner or face a nationwide ban starting January 19, 2025. According to CNN, TikTok had argued that the legislation infringed on free speech and equal protection rights, but the court ruled that the law neither violates the First Amendment nor the Fifth Amendment of the US Constitution. The ruling grants Congress the authority to act on national security concerns regarding TikTok’s ties to China. The court stated, “Congress and multiple Presidents determined that divesting (TikTok) from the (People’s Republic of China’s) control is essential to protect our national security.” TikTok has, however, announced plans to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court. The company spokesperson, Michael Hughes said, “The Supreme Court has an established historical record of protecting Americans’ right to free speech, and we expect they will do just that on this important constitutional issue. “Unfortunately, the TikTok ban was conceived and pushed through based upon inaccurate, flawed and hypothetical information, resulting in outright censorship of the American people. The TikTok ban, unless stopped, will silence the voices of over 170 million Americans here in the US and around the world on January 19th, 2025.” ByteDance has repeatedly insisted it will not sell TikTok. If the company fails to comply with the law, US app stores and internet service providers could face heavy penalties for hosting the app. President Joe Biden signed the legislation in April, citing fears that ByteDance could share user data with the Chinese government or use TikTok’s algorithm to influence American users. TikTok’s lawsuit, filed in May, argued that the law unfairly targeted the platform and its creators. While the court recognised TikTok’s role in facilitating free expression, it ultimately supported Congress’s narrowly focused approach. The judges said the law addresses the specific issue of China’s potential control over TikTok and does not suppress user-generated content. Emarketer analyst Jasmine Enberg called the decision a “major setback” for TikTok but noted that an appeal to the Supreme Court could alter its fate. She stated, “If the ban is enforced, it would cause major upheaval in the social landscape, benefitting Meta, YouTube, and Snap while hurting content creators and small businesses that rely on the app.” Get real-time news updates from Tribune Online! This system will help to enhance ventilation and also lower the temperature, creating a more comfortable environment for commuters. Moreover, a centralised mechanism will efficiently expel hot air, ensuring the subway remains cool and fresh, even during peak hours. Covering approximately 3,000 sq.m, the subway outside CST serves as a crucial underground corridor, connecting Central and Harbour line commuters to prominent destinations in Fort, such as DN Road and Mahapalika Marg. Since its inauguration in 1999, the subway has drawn criticism for overcrowding, poor lighting, inadequate ventilation, and unhygienic conditions. The pedestrian movement has also been hindered by illegal hawking and unauthorised shop extensions. Some of the shops in the subway had set up air conditioners which cool their small space, but add to the heat load in the subway. The advanced ventilation system at CST subway | The advanced ventilation system at CST subway | The advanced ventilation system at CST subway | To improve airflow in this heavily used subway, the 'A' ward office under whose jurisdiction the subway falls, has recently upgraded the ventilation system with nine jet fans and two high-capacity fans. "These fans efficiently draw fresh air from entry points and expel stagnant air, ensuring continuous ventilation. Inspired by tunnel ventilation technology, this system ensures the subway remains well-ventilated and comfortable for users at all times. The system also prioritises safety in case of fire. In an emergency, the central fans will activate at double speed to quickly clear smoke and improve visibility, enhancing commuter safety during such incidents," said a civic official.
