I won’t greatly articulate why Trump was elected and Tommy Hine in his last letter said it well. “Democrats. Party of long noses.” Or for another source from the left speaking to their party, read the recent column by Bill Maher in the New York Times, “There’s no monopoly on stupid” and he states that the Democratic party had become a “Portlandia sketch.” I’m not naive and don’t think that this next four years is going to fix all the problems of our country, especially the economic national debt of 36 trillion dollars. This I know though that the average working class American is sick of woke ideology teaching that there is more than two genders and imposing these values on our children. You claim to believe in science and it doesn’t get more basic than this. We are sick of having these values force fed through our educational institutions on these same children further confusing the difficult transition from childhood through puberty. We are sick that there are puberty blockers being given to children and worse, mutilation of their bodies. We are sick that one penny of our tax dollars is spent to provide this for prisoners. We are sick that men who call themselves women are competing against women in women’s sports. Women have fought too long and hard for their rights to see them stolen by a bunch of cowards. I had a dream about a year ago wherein I remembered the scene from the original Titanic movie that I watched when I was a child. The one where a man disguised himself as a woman to save himself because he was a coward. Unless you think I am exaggerating there are tampon dispensers in the boys room at Eagle Peak middle school. We are sick of parental rights being taken away by the government. We are sick of illegal immigration being called immigration and having a porous border. Are we a sovereign nation or not? We are sick of having electric mandates force fed on us when we are still looking for and trying to find alternative energy sources. The problem with solar and wind without our current carbon and nuclear sources, is storage. That is why the tax incentives for solar have gone away because we don’t need more production as much as we need storage. We understand that electricity to power these vehicles has to be produced by some other source. We are sick of the emphasis on “Climate change” as if it is the greatest threat to humanity. Personally having grown up under the threat of nuclear annihilation and this threat which is still quite alive scares me way more than the idea that we won’t find a way to produce the world’s energy demands. Necessity is the mother of invention, we need to diligently keep working on alternatives, but you can’t stop the means of production in the mean time. That is a major effect of what destroyed the economy during the pandemic as small business was forced to shutdown and it has been a huge contributor to the huge inflation of the last four years. Poor nations are struggling to produce their energy needs with our current technologies so don’t count on them to really be on board to the current solutions that aren’t. I don’t read the UDJ because I like to be insulted but because I like to keep up on local news, events, and obituaries. I am part of this community and have been since 1975. "His goal is a quality that he always had in his career, just the right moment, the right place and he scored the goal very efficiently," Kompany told reporters after the 5-1 win. Muller had started only one of Bayern's previous five games in the competition but, with Harry Kane out injured, the 35-year-old stepped up and was in the perfect position to put Bayern in front just before half-time and begin the fightback. Kompany has given Muller just three starts in the Bundesliga this season but the manager was keen to emphasise the importance of the player to his squad, and his ability to still be there when it counted. Jim Montgomery was hired as coach of the NHL's St. Louis Blues on Sunday, five days after being fired as coach of the Boston Bruins. The 55-year-old Canadian, who guided Boston to an NHL record for wins and points in a season but never got past the second round of the playoffs, replaced Drew Bannister, who was fired after a 9-12-1 start by the Blues this season. An 8-9-3 start this season by the Bruins led to Montgomery's firing, but he signed a five-year contract with the Blues. "This was more an opportunity to get someone of Jim's caliber more than anything else," Blues president of hockey operations Doug Armstrong said. "We've had to deal with our situations off the ice with injuries and everyone deals with that, but this decision was based 100% on having someone of Jim's caliber becoming available when I didn't know that was going to happen." Montgomery is 180-84-33 as an NHL coach, having guided Dallas for two seasons and Boston for just over two campaigns, going 120-41-23 with the Bruins. In the 2022-23 season, the Bruins won an NHL record 65 games and compiled a record 135 points under Montgomery, who was named the NHL's Coach of the Year, but were upset by Florida in the first round of the playoffs. Boston also lost to the eventual 2024 Stanley Cup champions in last year's playoffs. Montgomery was dropped by the Bruins last Tuesday and replaced by Joe Sacco. The Biden administration said earlier this month that at least eight telecommunications companies and dozens of nations had been impacted by the Chinese hacking operation known as Salt Typhoon. On Friday, deputy national security adviser Anne Neuberger told reporters that a ninth victim had been identified after the administration released guidance to companies about how to locate Chinese hackers in their networks. The hackers compromised the networks of telecommunications companies to gather customer call records and access the private communications of a limited number of people, officials said. Trump calls meeting with Trudeau 'productive' after tariff threat
Shailene Woodley didn’t want to say much about Aaron Rodgers in a new interview, because, she said, reflecting on her relationship with the controversial NFL quarterback “always makes me cry.” During an overnight camping trip in Malibu with a reporter for Outside magazine , the 33-year-old actor and environmentalist also said that her relationship with Rodgers, which reportedly began during the COVID-19 pandemic and ended in February 2022, “was not right.” “But it was beautiful,” she added in the interview published Tuesday. Later in the conversation, Woodley also alluded to how difficult the relationship became and how devastated she was when it ended. She and Rodgers reportedly began dating during the pandemic lockdown in July 2020, around the time he ended his two-year relationship with race car driver Danica Patrick. The revealed their engagement in 2021. “I had a really awful, traumatic thing happen in early 2022,” Woodley told Outside later in the conversation. Yes, the “Divergent” star wasn’t being specific here about the “awful, traumatic thing,” but Outside noted that her engagement to the former Green Bay Packers quarterback was called off that February. “I felt like I lost my soul, my self, my happiness, my joy,” Woodley said. “I really understood depression and anxiety and, like, complete soul detachment.” Woodley also said she chose to remain in a “toxic situation” because she was empathizing with “someone else.” “Empathy,” she says, “kind of kept me in this loop of feeling everything for everyone.” For Outside magazine, the “Big Little Lies” actor was being profiled as the publication’s Outsider of the Year. Unfortunately for Woodley, she was caught up in Rodgers’ controversy, mainly by coming to his defense in ways that were seen as tone-deaf, given that public health officials had raised serious concerns about the potential harm caused by Rodgers’ anti-vaccination statements in the midst of a global pandemic. Woodley took to social media to post snarky, expletive-laced and even sexually suggestive Instagram defenses of Rodgers. Over the next month, one source close to Woodley and Rodgers told People that they were trying to make their relationship work, while another insider said that they “disagreed on a lot of things,” including politics, but that they tried to keep the peace by not debating those topics. But the likelihood of a split became apparent when the Chico-reared Rodgers failed to thank Woodley or even mention her name when he won his third NFL MVP award in early February 2022. Reports soon followed that they had ended their engagement. Rodgers then appeared again on “The Pat McAfee Show,” during which he said he didn’t regret speaking his mind about the COVID-19 vaccine, but said he regretted how those comments impacted his loved ones. Rodgers, now the embattled quarterback for the losing New York Jets , then apologized directly to Woodley — or “Shai” — and others, saying he was “very sorry” for the blowback they encountered. We bet they didn’t last long enough in front of Travis and Jason for that debate. •1/4 cup granulated sugar •2 tablespoons Pillsbury Best all-purpose flour •1 teaspoon ground cinnamon •2 (8-ounce) cans refrigerated Pillsbury Original Crescent Rolls (8 Count) •16 large marshmallows •1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted •1/2 cup powdered sugar •1/2 teaspoon vanilla •2-3 teaspoons milk •1/4 cup chopped nuts Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray 16 medium muffin cups with nonstick baking spray. In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar, flour and cinnamon. Separate the dough into 16 triangles. For each roll, dip 1 marshmallow into melted butter; roll in the sugar mixture. Place marshmallow on the shortest side of a triangle. Roll up, starting at shortest side and rolling to opposite point. Completely cover the marshmallow with the dough; firmly pinch edges to seal. Dip 1 end in remaining butter; place butter side down in muffin cup. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. When done, remove from the oven and let the puffs cool in the pan for 1 minute. Remove rolls from muffin cups; place on cooling racks set over waxed paper. In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar, vanilla and enough milk for desired drizzling consistency. Drizzle glaze over warm rolls. Sprinkle with nuts. Serve warm.
