DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Ian Schieffelin had 18 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists in leading Clemson to a 75-67 win over Penn State on Tuesday and the championship of the Sunshine Slam Beach Division. Chase Hunter added 17 points, Chauncey Wiggins 14 and Del Jones 10 for the Tigers (6-1), who shot 44% and made 9 of 19 3-pointers led by Hunter's three. Ace Baldwin Jr. scored 20 points and had 11 assists, Yanic Konan Niederhauser added 14 points and Nick Kern Jr. 11 for the Nittany Lions (6-1), who shot 46% and were just 4 of 18 from the arc. Neither team had a double-digit lead in the game and it was tied with seven minutes to go. But Penn State had a six-minute drought without a field goal while committing three turnovers and the Tigers went up by six. A hook shot from Schieffelin with a minute to go made it a five-point lead and free throws sealed it from there. The eight-point final margin was the largest of the game. Konan Niederhauser's dunk to open the second half tied the game but a Hunter 3-pointer gave the lead back to Clemson. Penn State took its first lead of the second half on a 9-0 run, seven coming from Baldwin, to go up 57-54 with midway through the period. Penn State had its largest lead of seven in the first half but three consecutive 3s put Clemson ahead with three minutes to go and the Tigers led at 38-36 at halftime. Clemson had a 16-9 edge on points off turnovers. ___ Get poll alerts and updates on the AP Top 25 throughout the season. Sign up here . BIHAR: As Modi’s Indian government remains adamant about not sending the cricket team to Pakistan for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, a prominent Indian politician, Tejashwi Yadav has raised his voice against the decision. According to Indian media reports, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) party leader and former professional cricketer Tejashwi Yadav asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to send the team to Pakistan. Tejashwi Yadav’s comments come as uncertainty looms over the tournament because India has refused to send its team to Pakistan which is set to host the Champions Trophy 2025 in the February-March. Speaking to the media, the former deputy chief minister of Bihar said that mixing politics with sports is damaging, taking a “Biryani” jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Pakistan in 2015. Read more: Nawaz Sharif should speak to Modi for India’s Champions Trophy participation: Akmal “Involving politics in sports is not a good thing. Doesn’t everyone participate in the Olympics? Why shouldn’t India go to Pakistan? If the PM can go there to have Biryani, why can’t the Indian cricket team travel for a tournament?” news agency ANI quoted Tejashwi Yadav as saying Earlier today, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi, had called for a new formula based on parity for the upcoming Champions Trophy, rejecting the hybrid model. Mohsin Naqvi is in Dubai for the board meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC), amid India’s refusal to send its team to Pakistan which is set to host the Champions Trophy 2025 in the February-March window next year. Speaking to the media at Dubai Stadium, Naqvi emphasised that any new formula must ensure equality and fairness. He also hinted that Pakistan could boycott tournaments in India if the Indian team refuses to play in Pakistan. “It is not possible that we go to India but they don’t come to Pakistan”, maintained Naqvi.Oregon reinstates plan to cut 90% of fossil fuel emissions by 2050

Mohajerani said Iran pursued a diplomatic approach towards the reopening of the embassies in the two capitals, adding both sides were ready for it. Iran emphasises the need for the formation of a Syrian government based on the votes of the people and for the protection of the Arab country’s territorial integrity, she stated. Mohajerani also stressed the importance of preventing the growth and spread of terrorism to avert any harm to Syria and its neighbouring states, Xinhua news agency reported. In remarks on December 17, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said the reopening of the country’s embassy in Syria was on the agenda. He added certain requirements have to be met for the reopening, including ensuring the security of the diplomatic mission and its staff, emphasizing, “Once the necessary security and political ground is prepared, Iran will reopen its embassy.” A militant alliance led by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group waged a major military operation from northern Syria on November 27. It swept southwards, captured the capital Damascus, and overthrew former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government within 12 days. On December 8, the Syrian militant groups stormed Iran’s embassy in Damascus, which had been vacated before the attack. A day later, Iran had said that it believes the Syrian people should have the sole right to determine their own future, free from any foreign interference or imposition. “Determining Syria’s future and making decisions about its destiny are solely the responsibility of the Syrian people, without any destructive interference or external imposition,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry said after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government It had added that to achieve that, it was necessary to end military conflicts in the country as soon as possible, prevent terrorist actions and start national talks involving all segments of Syria’s society to form an inclusive government representing all Syrian people.

Nov 26 (Reuters) - Databricks, the data analytics firm which has long been the subject of IPO speculation, is close to raising $8 billion via deals that would value it at $55 billion, according to a source familiar with the matter. Most of the new funding would be in the form of a secondary share sale, where early investors and employees are allowed to cash out some of their stock holdings, the source said. Such deals can boost employee morale, since stock-based payouts typically comprise a big chunk of the compensation at startups, while allowing the company to sidestep an initial public offering. Several high-flying startups are seeking to stay private for longer to avoid the regulatory burden and market volatility associated with being public. The flexibility via secondary sales also gives them more time to strengthen their finances. Major venture capital investors Thrive Capital and DST Global are participating in the fundraising by Databricks, two sources said. Databricks did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. The potential fundraising was earlier reported by CNBC. The company had notched up a valuation of $43 billion after a $500 million funding round last year. Sign up here. TAOISEACH Simon Harris has made a personal phone call to brave rape survivor Nikita Hand. The Fine Gael leader paid tribute to Nikita’s courage after the mum won her civil action against MMA fighter Conor McGregor. A source told the Irish Sun: “The Taoiseach has offered Nikita his full support and solidarity.” The stony-faced multi-millionaire UFC star had nothing to say as he left the High Court in Dublin city centre after the verdict . The jury awarded almost €250,000 in damages to hair colourist Nikita , who said she was “brutally” raped and “battered” by the mixed martial arts star in a Dublin hotel penthouse six years ago. A crying and shaking Ms Hand bowed her head and listened to the verdict surrounded by family, supporters and her boyfriend. McGregor bowed his head and remained seated upon hearing the jury’s decision. However, despite saying nothing as he left the court, the “disappointed” dad-of-four later vowed to appeal the judgment of the jury. He posted on social media : “I will be appealing today’s decision. “The judge’s instruction and the modest award given was for assault, not for aggravated or exemplary damages. “I am disappointed that the jury did not hear all the evidence that the DPP reviewed. I am with my family now, focused on my future.” Ms Hand is to be awarded €60,000 in general damages and €188,000 in special damages, totalling €248,000, said Mr Justice Alexander Owens. The court has already been told that ‘special’, or medical damages, have been agreed by both sides. The jury of eight women and four men found former hairdresser Ms Hand had been assaulted by the UFC fighter following the three-week civil trial. A second man, James Lawrence , of Rafter’s Road, Drimnagh, Dublin , did not assault Ms Hand, the jury found. The judge sent the jury out to begin their deliberations just after 3pm on Thursday, before sending them home after around an hour. They resumed at 10am today before announcing a verdict after six hours and ten minutes. During the three-week trial , McGregor took the stand in his own defence , telling the jury that he had “consensual” sex with Nikita Hand, which he described as “enthusiastic, athletic, prolonged and vigorous” and carried out in a “multitude” of positions.

Media Release Mangaluru, Nov 23: Fourteen Catholic NGOs, under the umbrella of Bandhavya, a registered society, organized a two-day learning programme aimed at exploring various social service centres. The initiative was spearheaded by Fr Siby and Fr Vincent, secretary of CODP. The programme's first day included visits to several social service centres in and around Mangaluru city, including Sahodaya Bethany Social Service Centre, Family Service Centre at Roshni Nilaya, Spandana Charity Sisters Social Service Centre, Olavinahalli at Kinya, Ullal Social Service Centre, and Dharmajyothi Social Service Centre at Vamanjoor. On the second day, the group visited Puttur Patrao Hospital with its de-addiction centre, LM Pinto Hospital at Badyar, Vimukthi Capuchin Social Service Centre, and DKRDS of the Beltangady diocese. A team of 20 members participated in the visits, gaining insights into the vision, mission, and objectives of each social service institution. Directors of the centres shared their experiences, highlighting their focus on the integral development of human beings, providing care to the destitute, offering healing to the specially challenged and psychiatric patients, and extending charitable support to those in need. The two-day visit concluded with the participants expressing a strong desire to work towards greater fulfillment in their respective missions.

The issue was the clear leader on 28 per cent, followed by the cost of living on 19 per cent and health on 17 per cent. Economic stability (9 per cent), climate change (4 per cent), crime (2 per cent), local transport and roads (2 per cent) and childcare (2 per cent), all played lesser roles. Immigration – which had been prominent in the list of issues of public concern for much of the year – played a minor role, nominated by just 6 per cent. The housing issue was more prominent among younger voters, with 42 per cent of those under 34 nominating it as the most important issue. More than half (52 per cent) of voters said their standard of living has stayed the same over the past 12 months, while 35 per cent said it has worsened and 13 per cent said it has improved. Those who voted for Sinn Féin (49 per cent), People Before Profit (49 per cent) and Aontú (41 per cent) were much more likely to say their standard of living had worsened. The poll also asked respondents about their second preferences on the ballot paper. The results suggest that expectations of a strong transfer between Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael will be borne out – a factor that should help the two parties boost their seat numbers. [ Almost half of voters favour a Fianna Fáil-Fine Gael led coalition, according to exit poll Opens in new window ] Supporters of both parties transferred at higher rates to running mates from the same party. For Fine Gael voters, it was at a rate of 37 per cent to other Fine Gael candidates. Fianna Fáil candidates were the second preference choice of 39 per cent of Fianna Fáil voters. Among Fine Gael voters, 32 per cent said their second preference votes went to Fianna Fáil, while 30 per cent of Fianna Fáil voters said they transferred to Fine Gael. Sinn Féin voters transferred at a rate of 48 per cent to second candidates from the same party. The next highest second preference votes from Sinn Féin supporters was to Independents. The highest second preference transfer rates between arch-rivals Labour and the Social Democrats were to each other. According to the exit poll some 22 per cent of second preferences from Labour voters went to the Social Democrats. Second preferences from Social Democrats supporters went to Labour at a rate of 23 per cent. Almost half of voters in Friday’s general election said they favour a coalition government based on the combination of Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael. Nearly a third of voters (31 per cent) said they would prefer a coalition of just Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil; a further 9 per cent preferred a government of those two parties plus Independents; while a further 9 per cent said they would like to see a government of Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and one or more smaller parties. Combined, this is a total of 49 per cent of voters in the exit poll who want to see a Fine Gael-Fianna Fáil-led government. [ Majority of Independent voters would have backed candidate even if they were in a political party - exit poll Opens in new window ] The next most popular choice was a government led by Sinn Féin without Fine Gael or Fianna Fáil, which was chosen by 22 per cent. Another 7 per cent said they wanted to see a Fianna Fáil-Sinn Féin coalition (including just 9 per cent of Fianna Fáil voters), while 21 per cent said they wanted to see “something else”. The most popular choice for taoiseach was Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin , who was the preferred choice of 35 per cent. He pipped Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald , who was on 34 per cent, while Fine Gael leader Simon Harris was on 27 per cent. Just 5 per cent gave no response. On climate change, a slim majority of voters said the current Government did not go far enough in tackling the issue – significantly more than those who believe it has gone too far. Just under a third of Irish voters – 29 per cent – said the Coalition’s actions were “about right”, while 20 per cent said it had gone too far. The poll, which is a joint project of The Irish Times, RTÉ, TG4 and the Political Science Department of Trinity College Dublin, was conducted by Ipsos B&A among 5,018 voters as they left 253 polling stations across all 43 constituencies on Friday. Pittsburgh quarterback Eli Holstein was carted off the field with 5:32 left in the first quarter with an apparent left ankle injury during Saturday's Atlantic Coast Conference game against host Louisville. The freshman was sacked at the Panthers' 49-yard line by Louisville's Ashton Gillotte, who rolled on the quarterback's ankle. Holstein was in a walking boot as he was helped to the cart. Holstein missed last week's game against Clemson after suffering a head injury in the loss to Virginia two weeks ago. Holstein was 3-for-5 passing for 51 yards and an interception before exiting. Nate Yarnell, who threw for 350 yards in the loss to Clemson, replaced Holstein. --Field Level MediaCould Trump’s criminal cases have ended differently?
