Hyderabad: The city’s love for sweets reached new heights this year as Double Ka Meetha emerged as the star dessert with a whopping Rs 2.01 lakh orders on Swiggy. Despite the rise of new culinary dishes and chocolates, Hyderabad during the festival season witnessed the revival of traditional flavours with desserts like Ghee Mysore Pak, Double Ka Meetha, Kaja, Poornam Boorelu, Churna, Boondi Ladoo, and Apricot Cake taking centre stage. However, the love for sweet treats didn’t end there. Hyderabad achieved a sugary milestone on Mother’s Day ordering a record 8,050 cakes averaging five cakes per minute. The Diwali celebrations were particularly extravagant, with one user splurging Rs 35,500 on the rich and indulgent Kaju Katli while another spent Rs 31,460 on 40 boxes of pure ghee motichoor ladoo. Double ka meetha is a beloved Hyderabadi dessert, a treat that captures the essence of the city’s culinary heritage. It’s a bread pudding made with fried bread slices soaked in sweetened milk with a mixture infused with spices like saffron and cardamom. The result is a sweet combination of textures and flavours offering delight for the senses. Here are some popular spots in Hyderabad to enjoy Hyderabad’s favourite dessert: Meethe Miya, Chicha’s, Sarvi Food Court, Shah Ghouse Restaurant, and many more.superace ultimate

METAIRIE, La. (AP) — Dejounte Murray plans to return to the New Orleans Pelicans ’ lineup on Wednesday night for the first time since fracturing his left hand in a season-opening victory over Chicago on Oct. 23. And when Murray takes the court against the , his mother will be on his mind. After practice on Tuesday, Murray discussed his impending return and disclosed more details about the previously unspecified “personal matters” that caused him to leave the team during the final days of the preseason. His mother had a stroke, he said. “It was tough to leave and go deal with that. As she got better, she wanted me to come play,” Murray said of his last-minute decision to start against Chicago. He added that his hand injury near the end of that game was God’s way of telling him, “‘Nah, you need to stay with your mom.’” “I was more concerned about my mother. That was my priority,” Murray continued. “I wasn’t really worried about my recovery.” Murray’s mother has recovered well, he said, while he is “healthy and ready to help this team.” “I’m ready to hoop. Play for my mother — she’s going to be watching,” Murray said. “I’m ready to compete, bring that winning spirit.” The Pelicans (4-14) certainly could use the help, having lost 14 of 16 games since opening the season with a pair of victories. Injuries have ravaged the roster. At times, all five starters have been out. Star power forward Zion Williamson has missed 12 games this season — one with an illness and 11 with a hamstring injury. Herb Jones has been sidelined by a shoulder strain and Brandon Ingram’s status is in doubt after he sat out practice on Tuesday with calf soreness that also sidelined him during a loss on Monday night at Indiana. But at least two starters — Murray and fellow guard CJ McCollum — are expected to play against the Raptors. “I don’t care how many games we’ve lost. I just know every time I step on the floor I feel like we can win games,” said Murray, who had 14 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds in his lone game with the Pelicans. “That’s just my mentality, and I feel like it can carry over to a lot of guys.” ___ AP NBA:Yelp Completes Strategic Acquisition of RepairPalChiefs head to Pittsburgh on Christmas hoping to lock up the top seed in the AFC

J.K. Dobbins and Alohi Gilman are placed on injured reserve by ChargersWith Q2 earnings season having left many investors disappointed, Mihir Vora , CIO, Trust Mutual Fund , says he is not in the slowdown camp as government spending is expected to pick up sharply in the second half of year and act as a kicker to growth. In this chat with ETMarkets, the Dalal Street veteran says he is bullish on three broad themes: rising income levels, physical asset creation and technological disruption . Edited excerpts: Mutual fund inflows have been strong even when the market is falling. How much cash are you deploying in your portfolios amid the market correction? We usually do not take big cash calls. In our existing Flexicap fund, the usual cash levels are 1 to 5%. We had about 7% cash and have deployed much of it in the fall. We were however fortunate as we just collected monies in our smallcap NFO, which we substantially deployed this month. SIPs have become a counter-force to selling by FIIs . Do you think the monthly SIP flow can hit the Rs 1 lakh crore mark as soon as 4-5 years? We are at about Rs. 25,000 crore monthly run rate. I would say that at 15-20% compounded growth rate, we could reach that level in 7 to 11 years. 5 years may be too optimistic. Are you cautious or bullish at this stage of the market? We are at an interesting juncture in the markets. After a stellar run over the past 12 months, we have seen a healthy correction and the market stands at crucial support levels. There are global tailwinds, with expectations that the US economy will continue to grow well and that the US Federal reserve will continue to keep monetary policy benign. On the other hand, China continues to struggle with growth. Domestically, rural demand is stabilising after a prolonged post-COVID weakness, while urban demand appears to be peaking. On the positive side, primary sales seem to be picking up in the festival season. We expect government spending, which was sluggish in the first half, to pick up significantly in the second half. The key state elections are also behind us with signals of continuity for the existing regime at the centre, a positive for markets. So, the next few weeks will be important, and I am cautiously optimistic. The India growth story remains intact. Do you think FII selling is done now and the market will bounce back to lifetime peak once again by the end of the calendar year? What are the chances of a Santa rally this time? The key reason for FII outflows (from all global markets, not only India) is the US dollar strength and expectations of US corporates doing well under the Trump regime. Moreover, we also need to see the bigger picture, which is that India also received massive inflows in June to September – almost $14 billion, out of which 10 flowed out in October. In the medium term, we expect the US dollar strength to plateau, bringing foreign flows back to normalcy and markets to continue the uptrend. The other big picture fact is that while FII flows are flat now for the calendar year, domestic institutional purchases are a staggering $57 billion so far this year. The market is well supported by flows. FII activity tends to slow down in December as they're in vacation mode. Moreover, FIIs are also very short in the futures segment. As they unwind their position and if the US dollar strength plateaus, we could see a Santa rally. How has your investing strategy changed after the Q2 earnings season? And do you think we will see recovery in H1FY25? Most of the downgrades have been seen in large caps, especially segments which are global in nature like commodities and IT. The wider market has been more resilient especially sectors which are more domestic oriented. So the Nifty50 stocks have seen sharper downgrades, not so much for the broader indices like the 500 or smallcap index. So we are not in the slowdown camp. Expect government spending to pick up sharply in the second half, which should be a kicker to growth. We follow the Growth at Reasonable Valuations approach. So we usually buy stocks where there is visibility of earnings growth. Moreover, we also pay close attention to upgrades or downgrades to earnings to see that the earnings momentum is intact. We need 50-60 stocks to build the portfolio and we find that it is not that difficult to find these from a wide universe of 500-800 stocks. Which sectors are on your watchlist from a longer term perspective? And which ones are you staying away from? We are bullish on three broad themes: rising income levels, physical asset creation and technological disruption. Rising income levels means that growth rates of segments catering to premium consumption will be higher. Some examples are premium vehicles, premium real estate, jewellery, consumer durables, hotels, airlines etc. It also means that segments that cater to financial savings will grow faster – insurance, wealth management, asset management, broking, exchanges, depositories, registrars, distributors of financial services and products etc. Physical asset creation includes sectors like real estate, capital goods, construction, infrastructure, power, defence, railways. Technological disruption includes all the new-age companies in the B2B and B2C space, which use technology to create new business models or to disrupt existing traditional models. So these segments continue to remain our core picks. However, in the recent few quarters, banks, finance companies, chemicals, defence have corrected more and have underperformed. These also offer a good balance of growth and valuation. We are usually underweight on global sectors like metals, commodities, oil & gas, large-cap IT etc. We also don't usually prefer sectors with too much regulation and controlled margins. (You can now subscribe to our ETMarkets WhatsApp channel )A Florida man was arrested Wednesday and charged with a plot to "reboot" the U.S. government by planting a bomb at the New York Stock Exchange this week and detonating it with a remote-controlled device, according to the FBI. Harun Abdul-Malik Yener, 30, of Coral Springs, Florida, was charged with an attempt to use an explosive device to damage or destroy a building used in interstate commerce. The FBI began investigating Yener in February based on a tip that he was storing "bombmaking schematics" in a storage unit. They found bomb-making sketches, many watches with timers, electronic circuit boards and other electronics that could be used for building explosive devices, according to the FBI. He had also searched online for things related to bomb-making since 2017, according to the FBI. RELATED STORY | Court overturns actor Jussie Smollett's 2019 conviction in hate crime hoax case Yener also told undercover FBI agents that he wanted to detonate the bomb the week before Thanksgiving and that the stock exchange in lower Manhattan would be a popular site to target. "The Stock Exchange, we want to hit that, because it will wake people up," he told undercover FBI agents, according to court documents. Yener, who was described as "unhoused," wanted to bomb the stock exchange in order to "reboot" the U.S. government, explaining that it would be "like a small nuke went off," killing everyone inside the building, according to court documents. In the last month, he had rewired two-way radios so that they could work as remote triggers for an explosive device and planned to wear a disguise when planting the explosives, according to court documents. Yener had his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon and will be detained while he awaits a trial. He was known to post videos on a YouTube channel about making explosives and fireworks from household items, and had a history of making threats, according to court documents. He was fired last year from a restaurant in Coconut Creek, Florida, after his former supervisor said he threatened to "go Parkland shooter in this place." He was also part of a small group that tried to join the far-right anti-government group the " Boogaloo Bois " and extremist group the Proud Boys but was denied membership because he said he wanted "to pursue martyrdom," according to court documents. The news was first reported by the website CourtWatch. Calls to telephone numbers listed for Harun Abdul-Malik Yener in public records rang unanswered and a lawyer was not listed in court records.

Arizona (2-2) lost at Wisconsin 103-88 on Nov. 15 and followed that with a home loss against Duke 69-55 on Friday. The Wildcats have dropped 15 spots in the Associated Press Top 25 poll in two weeks. Arizona's record is .500 this early in a season for the first time since it was 3-3 to start the 2017-18 schedule. "I've got work to do, so let's get to work," said Lloyd, in his fourth year as Arizona's head coach. "Let's see where we're at in a month, and if we're still struggling, you know what I'll do? I still got work to do, but I'm gonna get to it." Arizona shot 39.6 percent from the field against Duke, and just 26.1 percent (6 of 23) from 3-point range. The Wildcats were outrebounded by 43-30 and their 15 turnovers led to 19 points. Jaden Bradley led Arizona with 18 points and KJ Lewis added 12. Preseason All-American Caleb Love had eight points on 3-of-13 shooting from the field, including 1-of-9 from 3-point range. Arizona made only one field goal in the last 5:39 as Duke pulled away after its lead was trimmed to six points. "We didn't play great," Lloyd said. "Now we need to take a step back and figure out why. Are there some schematic problems? Are there some problems with how our personnel is kind of put together? "We got to figure out what our certainties are, and the things we have to have, and then over the course of the next couple of days, if there's adjustments we need to make, we need to figure out what those are." Davidson is 4-0 after a 15-17 record last season, in which it lost its last six games to put an end to postseason hopes. A 93-66 win over visiting VMI on Friday followed a 91-85 win at Bowling Green and 76-70 victory over visiting East Tennessee State. The two wins by 10 points or fewer are important because Davidson was 6-12 in such games last season. It was 4-11 in games decided by five points or fewer. "The goal (is) to get better," Davidson head coach Matt McKillop said after the season opener. "We talk about fighting to win every possession. I think we had to figure out what that really felt like with the lights on." Davidson made 13 shots from 3-point range in the win over VMI. Reed Bailey had 23 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Bobby Durkin added 19 points, including 17 of them and a career-best five 3-pointers in the first half. Bailey leads Davidson in scoring (19 points per game) and rebounding (7.8). Durkin is shooting 57.9 percent (22 of 38) from the field and 54.2 percent (13 of 24) from 3-point range. By contrast, Arizona's Love is shooting 32 percent (16 of 50) from the field and 21.4 percent (6 of 28) from beyond the arc. Bradley leads Arizona with 15.5 points per game. He is shooting 50 percent (24 of 48) from the field and is 35.7 percent (5 of 14) from 3-point range. --Field Level Media

Whether he was tracking stats in the back row of the bleachers at a baseball game or dancing on stage in a rockstar outfit for a father-daughter dance, Travis was always there for his family. “He lived for family and his kids,” said Mindy Travis, Brian’s wife. Even in his final days, Brian Travis gave his all. After he died Dec. 5 — 12 days after the 48-year-old Lincoln man went into cardiac arrest — his family donated his organs. The community rallied around the Travis family for the donation as hundreds of people, including teammates, coaches and friends, filled the hospital hallway during an honor walk that same day at Bryan East Campus. “I didn’t know how much impact that he had or we had on people,” Mindy said. Kara Cordell, spokeswoman for Live On Nebraska, said that honor walks occur every time a family undergoes an organ donation. The final tribute includes the donor's caregivers and loved ones lining the hallways of the hospital as the donor is transported to the operating room. "Legacy is important to donor families," Cordell said. "Whether in front of a small group of staff members or with dozens of people present, the significance of the donor's life and their impact on others is recognized and celebrated." Cordell said the walk brings pride and comfort to those saying goodbye to their loved ones, whether it's friends, coworkers or others close to the family. Organ donations aren't common, Cordell said, because donor candidates must be in a hospital and on ventilation prior to the organ donation surgery. In Nebraska, there have been 111 successful organ donation cases this year. Of those, only five have been at Bryan East. Outside of the hospital, hockey sticks were set out by those who knew Travis through the Lincoln Junior Stars, where his son Matthew plays hockey. The online tribute “Sticks out for Brian” was circulated on social media. “You don’t know how many people care or have your back,” Mindy said. “It’s been overwhelming, but I’m grateful because I don’t know how to do this without them.” Mindy and Brian’s relationship was built on support, love and their contrasting personalities, she said. Despite Mindy’s independent nature after losing both her parents at a young age, Brian was steadfast in her life. “I’m pretty strong-willed and hard-headed, and I would push to see if he would break,” Mindy said. “He never would and I could never understand why he stayed with me.” Brian was the parent who read to their three kids each night and could be counted on for helping with any crafts. “He would always make the kids and I homemade Valentine cards,” Mindy said. “He did that when we dated as well. My birthday card was always homemade.” Mindy first met Brian in Columbia, Missouri, while attending college. After he proposed on a bike trail, the two got married and moved to Nebraska in 2003. After 11 years of living in Kearney, the family moved to Lincoln, where they would raise their sports-loving family of five. Brian and Mindy were determined to make it to every event, whether it was track meets, hockey games or dance recitals. He even participated in both their daughters' dance recitals several times. “He would go and learn the steps, and then secretly, he would practice them downstairs,” Mindy said. “He did it because his kids wanted him to do it, and he took pride in their sports.” His love for children wasn’t limited to his own. Mindy said Brian treated other kids as if they were his, offering unwavering support to the families around him. Dave Quevedo and his wife, Joey, met the Travis family nearly 10 years ago as their children grew up playing flag football, baseball and hockey together. Mindy and Joey would run the events together and Brian could often be found chalking lines and helping with warmups. “We were always together at different events because of our boys,” Dave Quevedo said. “Brian was always around.” Brian was the kind of parent to keep track of each player’s stats and which opponents their team would be going up against. He’d sit toward the back with his paper book during the baseball games until the stats were digitized and kept electronically. “He probably actually got to enjoy the games at that point,” Quevedo said. In addition to working in insurance at Continental Western Group, Brian became a pedicab driver in 2018 to supplement the family’s income. He would often donate plasma to ensure they could make ends meet and to provide the best opportunities for his family. For years, Quevedo would watch his best friend work hard to make sure he could always provide the best for his family. “He was that amazing human,” Dave said. “It sucks. Why are the good ones the ones that are dying so young?” On the evening of Nov. 23, Brian was working as a pedicab driver around downtown Lincoln after the Nebraska-Wisconsin volleyball game. It was at about 9:30 p.m. when he collapsed at the Embassy Suites hotel. Bystanders performed CPR and his heart was shocked twice, but he never woke up. Mindy still doesn’t understand what happened to Brian, who seemed healthy and had a very active lifestyle. In the weeks after his death, it’s been difficult for her to come home expecting to see her upbeat husband and not seeing him there. The Quevedos are just a few of their close friends making sure Mindy and her children never feel alone. In November, Joey Quevedo started a GoFundMe to help cover medical expenses. “It’s so hard for me to accept help,” Mindy said. “I’m good at giving it, so to receive it is so hard for me because it makes me feel guilty.” Get local news delivered to your inbox!Questions over Hezbollah's future after ceasefire

NEW HOPE, Pa. (AP) — Dayle Haddon, a Canadian-born actor, activist and trailblazing former “Sports Illustrated” model who pushed back against age discrimination by reentering the industry as a widow, has died in a Pennsylvania home from what authorities believe was carbon monoxide poisoning. Authorities in Bucks County found Haddon, 76, dead in a second-floor bedroom Friday morning after emergency dispatchers were notified about a person unconscious at the Solebury Township home. A 76-year-old man police later identified as Walter J. Blucas of Erie was hospitalized in critical condition. Responders detected a high level of carbon monoxide in the property and township police said Saturday that investigators determined that “a faulty flue and exhaust pipe on a gas heating system caused the carbon monoxide leak.” Two medics were taken to a hospital for carbon monoxide exposure and a police officer was treated at the scene. As a model, Haddon appeared on the covers of Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Elle and Esquire in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as the 1973 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. She also appeared in about two dozen films from the 1970s to 1990s, according to IMDb.com, including 1994’s “Bullets Over Broadway,” starring John Cusack. Haddon left modeling after giving birth to her daughter, Ryan, in the mid-1970s, but then had to reenter the workforce after her husband's 1991 death. This time she found the modeling industry far less friendly: “They said to me, ‘At 38, you’re not viable,’” Haddon told The New York Times in 2003. Working a menial job at an advertising agency, Haddon began reaching out to cosmetic companies, telling them there was a growing market to sell beauty products to aging baby boomers. She eventually landed a contract with Clairol, followed by Estée Lauder and then L’Oreal, for which she promoted the company's anti-aging products for more than a decade. She also hosted beauty segments for CBS’s “The Early Show.” "I kept modeling, but in a different way," she told The Times, “I became a spokesperson for my age.” In 2008, Haddon founded WomenOne, an organization aimed at advancing educational opportunities for girls and women in marginalized communities, including Rwanda, Haiti and Jordan.' Haddon was born in Toronto and began modeling as a teenager to pay for ballet classes — she began her career with the Canadian ballet company Les Grands Ballet Canadiens, according to her website . Haddon's daughter, Ryan, said in a social media post that her mother was “everyone’s greatest champion. An inspiration to many.” “A pure heart. A rich inner life. Touching so many lives. A life well lived. Rest in Light, Mom,” she said. The Associated Press

Korea-Middle East forum a vital bridge of dialogue, says ministerPakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday faced significant volatility as the benchmark KSE-100 index dropped 1,510 points, or 1.33%. Analysts attributed the bearish sentiment to profit-taking amid pressure from the approaching rollover of futures contracts and uncertainty surrounding the outcome of ongoing talks between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The index initially surged by 1,112 points, reflecting early optimism, but later plunged by 1,629 points, driven by profit-taking and concerns over leverage positions and borrowing costs. The cautious market behaviour was also influenced by the approaching end-of-year contract deadline, which added to the pressure on investors. Despite the decline, there was active trading with a volume of 881 million shares and a value of Rs54 billion. Ahsan Mehanti of Arif Habib Corp commented that profit-taking was witnessed at the PSX amid pressure from futures contracts rollover and uncertainty about the outcome of patch-up talks between the government and PTI. He added that a weak rupee, falling global crude oil prices, and institutional selling in overbought shares played the role of catalysts in the bearish activity. At the end of trading, the benchmark KSE-100 index recorded a decline of 1,509.61 points, or 1.33%, and settled at 112,414.81. In its review, Topline Securities commented that the KSE-100 index exhibited significant volatility as market sentiment remained uncertain. The index climbed to the intra-day high of 1,112 points early in the session, reflecting some optimism, but later tumbled to the intra-day low of 1,629 points due to profit-taking, Topline said. It added that the market's downturn was primarily driven by concerns over rising leverage positions, which heightened risk perceptions. This, combined with increasing borrowing costs, compelled investors to trim their portfolios. Furthermore, the approaching last few days of December contract put additional pressure on market participants, resulting in a cautious and selective trading behaviour. Fauji Fertiliser Company, Mari Petroleum, MCB Bank, Hub Power and Engro Corporation emerged as major laggards of the day, collectively dragging the index down by 850 points, Topline said. In its report, Arif Habib Limited (AHL) noted that the KSE-100 index backed off following a sharp two-day rally and closed down by 1.33%, ahead of the December 25 holiday. Some 71 shares rose, while 27 fell, with UBL (+2.72%), Dawood Hercules Corporation (+3.3%) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (+6.35%) contributing the most to index gains. On the other hand, Fauji Fertiliser Company (-3.65%), Mari Petroleum (-3.37%) and MCB Bank (-3.84%) were the biggest drags, according to the AHL report. JS Global analyst Muhammad Hasan Ather commented that the downturn was primarily driven by profit-taking following an early surge fuelled by political stability and favourable economic prospects. Despite the decline, the index's rise to the intra-day high of 115,036 demonstrated renewed investor confidence, he said. Ather noted that the market's overall positive momentum was supported by improving macroeconomic indicators, including a significant current account surplus and increased foreign investment. These robust economic fundamentals continue to signal a promising outlook for the market, offering potential growth opportunities for investors, he said. Overall trading volumes increased to 880.6 million shares compared to Monday's tally of 857.8 million. Shares of 456 companies were traded. Of these, 129 stocks closed higher, 288 fell and 39 remained unchanged. WorldCall Telecom was the volume leader with trading in 127.4 million shares, gaining Rs0.06 to close at Rs1.78. It was followed by Fauji Foods with 67.1 million shares, gaining Rs0.46 to close at Rs14.95 and Sui Southern Gas Company with 33.6 million shares, losing Rs0.39 to close at Rs46.09. During the day, foreign investors sold shares worth Rs617.8 million, the National Clearing Company of Pakistan reported. "I've always liked the (H1-B) visas, I have always been in favor of the visas, that's why we have them" at Trump-owned facilities, the president-elect told the New York Post in his first public comments on the matter since it flared up this week. An angry back-and-forth, largely between Silicon Valley's Musk and traditional anti-immigration Trump backers, has erupted in fiery fashion, with Musk even vowing to "go to war" over the issue. Trump's insistent calls for sharp curbs on immigration were central to his election victory in November over President Joe Biden. He has vowed to deport all undocumented immigrants and limit legal immigration. But tech entrepreneurs like Tesla's Musk -- as well as Vivek Ramaswamy, who with Musk is to co-chair a government cost-cutting panel under Trump -- say the United States produces too few highly skilled graduates, and they fervently champion the H1-B program. Musk, who himself migrated from South Africa on an H1-B, posted Thursday on his X platform that luring elite engineering talent from abroad was "essential for America to keep winning." Adding acrimony to the debate was a post from Ramaswamy, the son of immigrants from India, who deplored an "American culture" that he said venerates mediocrity, adding that the United States risks having "our asses handed to us by China." That angered several prominent conservatives who were backing Trump long before Musk noisily joined their cause this year, going on to pump more than $250 million into the Republican's campaign. "Looking forward to the inevitable divorce between President Trump and Big Tech," said Laura Loomer, a far-right MAGA figure known for her conspiracy theories, who often flew with Trump on his campaign plane. "We have to protect President Trump from the technocrats." She and others said Trump should be promoting American workers and further limiting immigration. Musk, who had already infuriated some Republicans after leading an online campaign that helped tank a bipartisan budget deal last week, fired back at his critics. Posting on X, the social media site he owns, he warned of a "MAGA civil war." Musk bluntly swore at one critic, adding that "I will go to war on this issue." That, in turn, drew a volley from Trump strategist Steve Bannon, who wrote on the Gettr platform that the H1-B program brings in migrants who are essentially "indentured servants" working for less than American citizens would. In a striking jab at Trump's close friend Musk, Bannon called the Tesla CEO a "toddler." Some of Trump's original backers say they fear he is falling under the sway of big donors from the tech world like Musk and drifting away from his campaign promises. It was not immediately clear whether Trump's remarks might soothe the intraparty strife, which has exposed just how contentious changing the immigration system might be once he takes office in January. bbk/nroMichigan upsets No. 2 Ohio State 13-10
