HUNTINGTON, W.V. (AP) — Marshall has withdrawn from the Independence Bowl after a coaching change resulted in much of its roster jumping into the transfer portal. The Thundering Herd were slated to play Army on Dec. 28 in Shreveport, Louisiana. But the Independence Bowl and Louisiana Tech announced on Saturday that the Bulldogs will take on the 19th-ranked Black Knights instead. Marshall said it pulled out “after falling below the roster minimum that was deemed medically safe.” The Herd (10-3) beat Louisiana-Lafayette 31-3 last weekend to win the Sun Belt Conference Championship for the first time. The program has won seven games in a row in the same season for the first time since 2020. “We apologize for the nature and timing of this announcement and for the turmoil it has brought to bowl season preparations for Army, the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl, the American Athletic Conference and ESPN,” Sun Belt Commissioner Keith Gill said in a statement. Coach Charles Huff left Marshall for Southern Miss last Sunday, and Tony Gibson, the defensive coordinator at North Carolina State, was announced as his replacement less than an hour later. By Thursday, at least 25 Marshall players had entered the transfer portal. Gibson held a meeting shortly after arriving on campus in Huntington to introduce himself to the team. He followed that up with phone calls, text messages and more meetings Friday and Saturday. “Any time coaches leave to take other jobs, it is emotional,” Gibson said at a news conference Thursday. “And kids that are 18-to-22 years old are going to make emotional decisions instead of just breathing for a day or two.” It's the first bowl for Louisiana Tech (5-7) since 2020. The Bulldogs have won two of their last three games, but they haven't played since a 33-0 victory over Kennesaw State on Nov. 30. “We are excited to accept the opportunity to play in the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl against a fantastic and storied program as Army,” Louisiana Tech athletic director Ryan Ivey said in a release. “I believe our football program is moving toward positive structure and the opportunity to play in this bowl adds to that momentum. We are looking forward to being in Shreveport for this matchup.” Get poll alerts and updates on the AP Top 25 throughout the season. Sign up here . PTI leadership bent upon creating anarchy: Sharjeel Sharjeel Inam Memon says public do not concerns about political posturing but about problems posed by inflation KARACHI: Sindh’s Senior Minister, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has said that an imprisoned person is trying to stir chaos and anarchy in the country to achieve his objectives while ignoring the problems of the countrymen. Addressing a media briefing, Sindh’s Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, said the public is not concerned about political posturing but about the problems posed by inflation. He said businesspeople, farmers, labourers, etc., are desperately seeking relief and are fed up with the populist politics. Referring to the grave situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Memon said despite the loss of 90 people in a tragic incident, the chief minister is not present in their midst. He questioned why the KP police, who are actively used in CM Gandapur’s rallies, is not being deployed in Parachinar where they are truly needed. Questioning the reckless use of provincial government machinery, he asked if the political and administrative machinery was supporting the families of the victims or planning to attack the capital. Criticising the priorities of the KP government, the Sindh senior minister asked them to prove a single successful, public initiative despite running the province for the last 12 years. He charged the political hierarchy of the KP with a misplaced focus that led to the attack on the Army Public School and the break-in at Bannu Jail which complicated the problems for the people. Had the provincial economy fared any better the people of the province would not have had to leave their homes in search of employment opportunities in Sindh or other provinces, the Sindh minister said. Against this backdrop, they are attempting to stir chaos in the country, Memon said. Sharjeel Memon said the disruptive politics of PTI are only aimed at destabilising the country. The ‘foreign leader’ has no concern for the countrymen and is busy fomenting chaos. He blamed the PTI for not even making a single demand for the betterment of the people except for seeking power for Imran Khan. Memon said when the PPP leadership including President Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur were arrested, the party did not engage in any illegal actions. Despite having a government in Sindh, they did not use government machinery against the federal capital. Terming the people as astute and aware, he said the people have seen through their designs. Being tired and frustrated they are not responding to the PTI calls for agitation. He said the time has come to stop disruptive politics of chaos and abusive language. The minister said people need relief from their daily hardships and need employment, health and education. The minister claimed that on the other hand as soon as the Pakistan Peoples Party came to power in Sindh, they began issuing Kisan Cards. The provincial government is working to provide free electricity to the people through solarisation. Additionally, houses are being constructed for 2.1 million people, and the government is single-mindedly focused on completing this project. Furthermore, they are striving to provide the best possible facilities for health and education to the public. He said there are signs of economic recovery with the improvement of the stock exchanges that are setting record volumes of business every day. The minister for Transport, and Mass Transit, said the Sindh government introduced Electric Vehicle (EV) buses in the country, followed by launching the Pink Bus service for women. He said work is underway on the Red Line and Yellow Line BRT projects. The government, Memon said also plans to introduce EV taxis to provide employment opportunities for the unemployed youth. In response to a question, the provincial minister said, at the behest of the PTI’s founder, his wife, Bushra Bibi, made a shameful statement regarding Saudi Arabia. Even the remaining PTI leadership tried to distance themselves from that stance against one of the best friends of the Pakistani people. To another question, Sharjeel Memon said the PPP has never opposed talks while on the other hand, Imran Khan is the biggest obstacle to dialogue. Regarding Chairman Bilawal Bhutto’s stance on the proposed canals from the Indus, the provincial minister said that is in line with the policy of the Pakistan People’s Party and the Sindh government. He mentioned that the Sindh Chief Minister has also written letters to the federal government on this issue. Memon said the PPP Chairman is clear about water projects and elaborated that the issue should be resolved through negotiations. He said the Sindh government will never compromise on the rights of farmers. The Sindh senior minister said as long as the smaller provinces’ are objecting to the canal issue, the project should not be taken up.
NetApp earnings beat by $0.09, revenue topped estimatesShadow treasurer Angus Taylor has hit out at Labor's regulatory framework as stunting Australia's economic processes, particularly in the energy industry, as the Coalition touts a cheaper pathway in its nuclear power costings. Speaking to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell on Sunday Agenda, Mr Taylor blamed Labor's "sclerotic" regulations for preventing progress in the energy sector. The shadow treasurer said the Liberal Party approach was to "get things moving" which was offering up a different approach as seen with the Coalition's recent nuclear energy costings release on Friday. Mr Taylor said the Labor Party had regulated the resources industry "out of existence", adding it was "impossible" to get a tick of approval for projects in multiple sectors such as energy and housing. "There's a different approach to regulation, which is fit for purpose, to deliver the outcomes we need but don't clog up the private sector, don't clog up investment, don't clog up the investments that need to be made by governments as well," he said. "But that's exactly what's happening under the Labor Party." Mr Taylor said the Coalition would seek to overcome regulations to "get things moving" after it released its nuclear power costings last week. The Coalition’s ambitious nuclear energy proposal has been slated to bring down power bills after modelling revealed the policy will be $264 billion cheaper than Labor’s renewables plan. The shadow treasurer said the portion of "clean, baseload nuclear power" would bring down the overall costs of the system which would allow manufacturers, data centres, households, and small businesses to pay less for electricity "over the many decades to come". Asked if the modelling suggested a "massive shrinking" of the economy, Mr Taylor said the "only people who know how to shrink this economy is the Labor Party". "They're doing an extremely good job of it right now. Seven consecutive quarters of GDP per capita going backwards. It's completely unprecedented," he said. "Household budgets are in disarray. They're in ruin. We've never seen the hit to household disposable incomes, the standard of living of Australian households like we've seen since Labor came to power. "Not at any time in the past. Not the recession we had to had under under Paul Keating, not the Gough Whitlam economic disaster. This is worse than all of those situations and so I won't take lectures on the economy from the Labor Party." Mr Taylor continued his rebuke of Labor by addressing the Coalition's energy mix proposal. Opposition Leader Peter Dutton announced details of his ambitions for Australia’s energy future, including 38 per cent of the nation's power to come from nuclear energy by 2050. The energy mix has also included 32 per cent wind, 17 per cent solar, and a smaller contribution from gas and storage. Mr Taylor said the plan would incorporate a broad range of technologies to strike a balance, while also reducing the cost of energy in comparison. "The one person who is imbalanced on energy is Chris Bowen and his mates. The vested interests are out there squawking away at the moment as you'd expect them to," he said. "But (Bowen) is not interested, it seems, in getting electricity bills down. We've seen that he promised to $275 reduction and we are nowhere near that. "He's got 16 days, by the way. He's got 16 days for the deadline on that. But I think we can all be pretty confident we're not going to see that."IISF 2024 Unveiled: Showcasing Science with Swadeshi Spirit and Global VisionA report this week indicated Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins was with a knee sprain and it will be at least a four-game absence from the lineup. The Chargers announced that Dobbins has been placed on injured reserve on Saturday. Safety Alohi Gilman, who has a hamstring injury, was also moved to that list. Dobbins has been enjoying a strong season after three injury-plagued years with the Ravens. He has 158 carries for 766 yards and eight touchdowns, but the Chargers will have to go with Gus Edwards, Hassan Haskins, and Kimani Vidal for the time being. The Chargers filled one of the open roster spots by signing veteran safety Tony Jefferson to the active roster. They also called up cornerback Dicaprio Bootle and linebacker Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste from the practice squad on a temporary basis.

Vicario is now set for an extended spell on the sidelines as he recovers from the operation to his right ankle, with veteran deputy Fraser Forster set to take on starting duties in the weeks ahead supported by the likes of Brandon Austin and Alfie Whiteman. Spurs did not speculate on how long it might be until the Italian international is able to return to action, saying only that he would be assessed by club medical staff in future to determine when he can resume training. It remains to be seen if Tottenham are now tempted to pursue the signing of a new goalkeeper in the January transfer window to compensate for the loss of one of Ange Postecoglou’s most influential players. Vicario has now publicly addressed his injury, revealing on social media that he played through it for 60 minutes of the rousing win over crisis-stricken City in which he with a succession of fine saves. Vicario had initially gone down in the first half but received treatment and came back out for the second period before being seen limping after the game. “Sometimes football gives you its highs, and sometimes it challenges you in ways you don't expect," the 28-year-old wrote on Instagram on Monday night alongside a picture of him flexing his arms in his hospital bed. "I played 60 minutes at the Etihad with a broken bone in my ankle, giving absolutely everything I had for the team. "Unfortunately there was no way around this one.. I needed surgery. I'm disappointed I won't be able to help the team for a while. "A massive thank you to the doctors and the staff. The operation went well, and from tomorrow I'll be working hard to come back stronger, fitter, and ready to give my all for you again. "Thank you to the Spurs fans for all the love. See you soon on the pitch." Tottenham plus Vicario’s Spurs and Italy team-mates past and present flooded his latest post with well wishes. James Maddison wrote: “Back soon brother”, while Tottenham’s official account said: “You’ve got this.” Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, currently on loan from Spurs at Marseille, wrote: “Stay strong grande. Forza.” Dejan Kulusevski, Destiny Udogie, Pape Matar Sarr and Manor Solomon were among the other Tottenham players to send Vicario their support.
