jsbet Keir Starmer will attempt to reset his premiership with a series of pledges to show he is “delivering change”, including 13,000 extra neighbourhood police and a named “bobby on every beat”. In a speech Labour hopes will set out the “next phase” of government, the prime minister will detail half a dozen “milestone” targets covering living standards, NHS backlogs, secure energy, housebuilding and children’s readiness for school. As part of a promise to crack down on crime and antisocial behaviour, he will say that every neighbourhood in England and Wales will have a named, contactable police officer. Each police force will also have an antisocial behaviour lead tasked with coming up with ways to tackle concerns raised by local residents and businesses. Starmer will pledge 13,000 more neighbourhood police, PCSOs and special constables by 2029, with an additional £100m of funding. “These officers must demonstrably spend time on visible patrol and not be taken off the beat to plug shortages elsewhere,” he will say. The boost would bring the total police workforce to a level above its 2010 peak. After ministers were accused of blindsiding businesses with a in the budget, the heads of three high street retailers – Asda, Co-op and McDonald’s – endorsed the “neighbourhood policing guarantee”. The promise will prompt comparisons with the Blair-era “tough on crime” slogan. Many of the plans were first outlined by Labour last year. The attempted reboot – labelled Starmer’s “plan for change” – follows a rocky first five months in power for the government. A was welcomed by campaigners for greater spending on public services but and led to protests by farmers. Starmer has also faced a row over ministers enjoying freebies, and the and , who quit after it emerged she had been convicted of fraud over a missing work phone. The Conservative party leader, Kemi Badenoch, has branded Thursday’s speech an “emergency reset”. But Starmer will say claim that the new “milestones” are the next phase of the he said would shape a Labour government. But it is also a tacit admission that those missions are being dumped as they were either too woolly or not achievable. The missions were: achieving the highest growth out of G7 countries, making Britain a “clean energy superpower”, halving serious violent crime, breaking down “barriers to opportunity” and building an NHS “fit for the future”. No 10 insiders have argued that numerical targets are more memorable for voters. “We’ll be putting them [the missions] into layman’s terms,” said one source last week. The Guardian has reported that the planned reset is being driven by Morgan McSweeney, who replaced Gray as chief of staff. “Morgan knows our best chance of holding off a populist surge, and winning Keir a second term, is delivering noticeable change to voters,” an ally said. In his speech on Thursday, Starmer will say: “My government was elected to deliver change, and today marks the next step. People are tired of being promised the world, but short-term sticking plaster politics is letting them down. “Hardworking Brits are going out grafting every day but are getting short shrift from a politics that should serve them. They reasonably want a stable economy, their country to be safe, their borders secure, more cash in their pocket, safer streets in their town, opportunities for their children, secure British energy in their home, and an NHS that is there when they need it. My mission-led government will deliver.” On the crime and antisocial behaviour plan, he will add: “The neighbourhood policing guarantee will deliver 13,000 extra neighbourhood police, visible on your streets, cracking down on antisocial behaviour. A named, contactable officer in every community. A relief to millions of people scared to walk their streets they call home. “But it’s a pledge that is only possible because we are matching investment with reform; standardising procurement, streamlining specialist services like forensics, and ending the madness of 43 forces purchasing their own cars and uniforms.” Shops have complained of facing an in the past year, fuelled in large part by the cost of living crisis. Liz Evans, the chief commercial officer at Asda, said: “Asda welcomes the introduction of the neighbourhood policing guarantee and the new role for businesses in shaping local policing priorities. “At the heart of communities, retailers see every day the devastating impact retail crime is having on our colleagues and our customers. The changes introduced today are positive, and Asda stands ready to work in partnership with our new neighbourhood officers to help reduce crime and improve safety in the communities we serve.” Alistair Macrow, the CEO of McDonald’s UK, said: “Addressing and raising awareness of antisocial behaviour is essential in keeping high streets and local communities safe.” Paul Gerrard, Co-op’s campaigns and public affairs director, said: “The Co-op sees every day in our stores and in the communities they serve the impact of crime and antisocial behaviour so we welcome the government’s action today.” Police numbers fell following the 2010 election, when David Cameron came to power, before rising again after 2019 as the previous government pledged to recruit 20,000 police officers. While the number of officers reached record levels, the number of PCSOs and special constables continued to decline. The Conservatives said only a third of the 13,000 new recruits would be full police officers, while the £100m would not cover what was needed to pay for them, leading to cuts elsewhere. Chris Philp, the shadow home secretary, said: “The Conservatives recruited over 20,000 extra police officers and gave the police an extra £922m for policing this year, ensuring the police could protect the public and prosecute more criminals. Starmer has once again misled the public by claiming to recruit an extra 13,000 officers when the actual number is 3,000, and even that is not properly funded.”

Eight girls’ basketball teams will be descending on Newhall Church of the Nazarene on Thursday for the start of Trinity Classical Academy’s inaugural “Reason for the Season” tournament. Santa Clarita Christian is scheduled to take part in the slate of games, along with Palmdale Academy Charter, Agoura, Royal, Viewpoint, Simi Valley and Maranatha. Trinity head coach James De Monbrun said he wanted to try hosting his own tournament after taking his teams to quite a few over his 20 years as a coach. “I’ve never hosted a tournament,” De Monbrun said in a phone interview. “I’ve been to a million of them, and I thought, ‘You know what, let’s host one. Let’s see if we can bring some eyes and some exposure to our school, our program where we play, but also give some other teams a chance to play some like opponents.’” Though only eight teams are in this year’s bracket, De Monbrun said he’s starting small but hopes to have the tournament grow in the future. He’s also learning how much work goes into these big events, and how with Trinity being a smaller school, even his players will be helping out when not playing themselves. “We talk a lot about selfless service as a team,” De Monbrun said. “We talk about selfless service and serving others. And so our girls are going to be working the event. They’re going to be helping out all over the gym, whether it be concessions or tickets up front, you know, going through and straightening up bathrooms or checking the bleachers for trash. We just want to put on a really nice event for schools.” The action is set to kick off Thursday at 3 p.m. when Palmdale Academy and Agoura face off, followed by Royal and Viewpoint at 4:30 p.m., SCCS and Simi Valley at 6 p.m., and Trinity in the nightcap against Maranatha at 7:30 p.m. Semifinal games are scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The championship game is slated for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Consolation games are also on the docket.Bear cub pulled from tree for 'selfie' in North Carolina released back into wild: Watch

ACHC INVESTOR ALERT: Lead Plaintiff Deadline Quickly Approaching; Robbins LLP Urges Shareholders to Seek Counsel

All three major US stock indexes scored record closing highs on Wednesday as technology shares rallied after upbeat results from Salesforce and as comments by Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell gave a late boost to the market . The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished above 45,000 for the first time, climbing 308.51 points, or 0.7%, to 45,014.04. The S&P 500 gained 3 0.6% to end at 6,086.49 points, while the Nasdaq rose 254 points, or 1.3%, to 19,735.12. The economy is stronger than it appeared in September when the central bank began cutting interest rates, allowing policymakers to potentially be a little more cautious in reducing rates further, Powell said at a New York Times event. Powell’s comments overall along with a Beige Book report added to the upbeat tone in the market, said Peter Cardillo, chief market economist at Spartan Capital Securities in New York. The Fed said in a summary of surveys and interviews from across the country known as the “Beige Book” that US economic activity has expanded slightly in most regions since early October. Powell “was very upbeat about economy, and he said we’re making progress on inflation... that’s good news for stocks in general,” Cardillo said. Investors expect a third consecutive interest-rate cut at the central bank’s Dec. 17-18 meeting. Salesforce jumped 11% and hit an all-time high after the enterprise cloud company beat Street estimates for third-quarter revenue and raised the lower end of its annual revenue forecast. Other cloud companies also advanced, and the S&P 500 technology index hit a record high. Also in the tech space, Marvell Technology rallied 23% after the chipmaker forecast fourth-quarter revenue above analyst estimates. Other chipmaker stocks rose as well. Investors await monthly US jobs data due on Friday and jobless claims data on Thursday. Earlier, US private payrolls data showed a modest increase in November. Separately, a survey from the Institute for Supply Management showed US services sector activity slowed in November after big gains in recent months. The final reading of the S&P services survey was revised lower to 56.1. “Recent economic data has pretty much confirmed the Fed will cut rates in December,” said Sam Stovall, chief investment strategist at CFRA Research in New York. Friday’s jobs report would be “like the granddaddy of employment reports this week,” he said.Technology and TV writer Thank you for signing up! WASHINGTON (AP) — American Airlines briefly grounded flights nationwide Tuesday because of a technical problem just as the Christmas travel season kicked into overdrive and winter weather threatened more potential problems for those planning to fly or drive. Government regulators cleared American flights to get airborne about an hour after the Federal Aviation Administration ordered a national ground stop for the airline. The order, which prevented planes from taking off, was issued at the airline's request. The airline said in an email that the problem was caused by trouble with vendor technology that maintains its flight operating system. Dennis Tajer, a spokesperson for the Allied Pilots Association, a union representing American Airlines pilots, said the airline told pilots at 7 a.m. Eastern that there was an outage affecting the system known as FOS. It handles different types of airline operations, including dispatch, flight planning, passenger boarding, as well as an airplane's weight and balance data, he said. Some components of FOS have gone down in the past, but a systemwide outage is rare, Tajer said. Hours after the ground stop was lifted, Tajer said the union had not heard about any “chaos out there beyond just the normal heavy travel day.” He said officials were watching for any cascading effects, such as staffing problems. Flights were delayed across American's major hubs, with only 37% leaving on time, according to Cirium, an aviation analytics company. Out of the 3,901 domestic and international American Airlines flights scheduled for Tuesday, 19 were canceled. Cirium noted that the vast majority of flights were departing within two hours of their scheduled departure time. A similar percentage — 36% — were arriving at their destinations as scheduled. Meanwhile, the flight-tracking site FlightAware reported that 3,712 flights entering or leaving the U.S., or serving domestic destinations, were delayed Tuesday, with 55 flights canceled. It did not show any flights from American Airlines. Cirium said Dallas-Fort Worth, New York’s Kennedy Airport and Charlotte, North Carolina, saw the greatest number of delays. Washington, Chicago and Miami experienced considerably fewer delays. Amid the travel problems, significant rain and snow were expected in the Pacific Northwest at least into Christmas Day. Showers and thunderstorms were developing in the South. Freezing rain was reported in the Mid-Atlantic region near Baltimore and Washington, and snow fell in New York. Because the holiday travel period lasts weeks, airports and airlines typically have smaller peak days than they do during the rush around Thanksgiving, but the grind of one hectic day followed by another takes a toll on flight crews. And any hiccups — a winter storm or a computer outage — can snowball into massive disruptions. That is how Southwest Airlines stranded 2 million travelers in December 2022, and Delta Air Lines suffered a smaller but significant meltdown after a worldwide technology outage in July caused by a faulty software update from cybersecurity company CrowdStrike. Many flights during the holidays are sold out, which makes cancellations even more disruptive than during slower periods. That is especially true for smaller budget airlines that have fewer flights and fewer options for rebooking passengers. Only the largest airlines, including American, Delta and United, have “interline agreements” that let them put stranded customers on another carrier’s flights. This will be the first holiday season since a Transportation Department rule took effect that requires airlines to give customers an automatic cash refund for a canceled or significantly delayed flight. Most air travelers were already eligible for refunds, but they often had to request them. Passengers still can ask to get rebooked, which is often a better option than a refund during peak travel periods. That’s because finding a last-minute flight on another airline tends to be expensive. An American spokesperson said Tuesday was not a peak travel day for the airline — with about 2,000 fewer flights than the busiest days — so the airline had somewhat of a buffer to manage the delays. The groundings happened as millions of travelers were expected to fly over the next 10 days. The Transportation Security Administration expects to screen 40 million passengers through Jan. 2. Airlines expect to have their busiest days on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Many flights during the holidays are sold out, which makes cancellations more disruptive than during slower periods. Even with just a brief outage, the cancellations have a cascading effect that can take days to clear up. About 90% of Americans traveling far from home over the holidays will be in cars, according to AAA. “Airline travel is just really high right now, but most people do drive to their destinations, and that is true for every holiday,” AAA spokesperson Aixa Diaz said. Gasoline prices are similar to last year. The nationwide average Thursday was $3.04 a gallon, down from $3.13 a year ago, according to AAA. Charging an electric vehicle averages just under 35 cents per per kilowatt hour, but varies by state. Transportation-data firm INRIX says travel times on the nation’s highways could be up to 30% longer than normal over the holidays, with Sunday expected to see the heaviest traffic. Boston, New York City, Seattle and Washington are the metropolitan areas primed for the greatest delays, according to the company. —— Associated Press writers David Koenig, Mae Anderson and Mike Pesoli contributed to this report.None

Green and Louisiana Tech win 85-79 in OT over Southern Illinois at Gulf Coast Showcase

The Reds ultimately left St James’ Park with only a point after Fabian Schar snatched a 3-3 draw at the end of a pulsating encounter, but Salah’s double – his 14th and 15th goals of the season – transformed a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 lead before the Switzerland defender’s late intervention. The 32-year-old Egypt international’s future at Anfield remains a topic of debate with his current contract running down. Asked about Salah’s future, Slot said: “It’s difficult for me to predict the long-term future, but the only thing I can expect or predict is that he is in a very good place at the moment. Two goals and an assist for Mo tonight 👏 — Liverpool FC (@LFC) “He plays in a very good team that provides him with good opportunities and then he is able to do special things. “And what makes him for me even more special is that in the first hour or before we scored to make it 1-1, you thought, ‘He’s not playing his best game today’, and to then come up with a half-hour or 45 minutes – I don’t know how long it was – afterwards with an assist, two goals, having a shot on the bar, being a constant threat, that is something not many players can do if they’ve played the first hour like he did. “That is also what makes him special. If you just look at the goals, his finish is so clinical. He’s a special player, but that’s what we all know.” Salah did indeed endure a quiet opening 45 minutes by his standards and it was the Magpies who went in at the break a goal to the good after Alexander Isak’s stunning 35th-minute finish. Slot said: “The shot from Isak, I don’t even know if Caoimh (keeper Caoimhin Kelleher) saw that ball, as hard as it was.” Salah set up Curtis Jones to level five minutes into the second half and after Anthony Gordon has restored the hosts’ lead, levelled himself from substitute Trent Alexander-Arnold’s 68th-minute cross. He looked to have won it with a fine turn and finish – his ninth goal in seven league games – seven minutes from time, only for Schar to pounce from a tight angle in the 90th minute. Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe was delighted with the way his team took the game to the Reds four days after their disappointing 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace. Howe, who admitted his surprise that VAR official Stuart Attwell had not taken a dimmer view of a Virgil van Dijk shoulder barge on Gordon, said: “It’s mixed emotions. “Part of me feels we should have won it – a big part of me – but part of me is pleased we didn’t lose either because it was such a late goal for us. “Generally, I’m just pleased with the performance. There was much more attacking output, a much better feel about the team. “There was much better energy, and it was a really good performance against, for me, the best team we’ve played so far this season in the Premier League, so it was a big jump forward for us.”

A landmark defence pact between North Korea and Russia, signed by its leaders in June, has gone into effect after the two sides exchanged ratification documents, North Korea's official KCNA news agency said Thursday. The formalization of the treaty comes as the United States and South Korea have accused the nuclear-armed North of sending more than 10,000 soldiers to help Russia fight Ukraine. Experts say North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is keen to acquire advanced technology from Moscow and battle experience for his troops in return. Kim and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the strategic partnership deal during the Kremlin chief's visit to Pyongyang. It obligates both states to provide military assistance "without delay" in the case of an attack on the other, and to jointly oppose Western sanctions. It came into effect from Wednesday, when the ratification documents were exchanged in Moscow by the countries' vice foreign ministers Kim Jong Gyu and Andrei Rudenko, KCNA reported. Lawmakers in Moscow last month voted unanimously for the deal and it was later signed by Putin. Pyongyang said it was ratified by a decree from Kim. The treaty will serve "as a strong driving force accelerating the establishment of an independent and just multi-polarized world order without domination, subjugation and hegemony," KCNA said. Analysts have suggested Pyongyang could be using Ukraine as a means of realigning its foreign policy. By sending soldiers, North Korea is positioning itself within the Russian war economy as a supplier of weapons, military support and labour — potentially even bypassing traditional ally, neighbour and main trading partner China, they say. North Korea and Russia have strengthened their military ties since Moscow's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Both countries are under rafts of UN sanctions -- the former for its nuclear weapons programme and the latter for the Ukraine conflict. Kim said last week during a visit to Pyongyang by Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov that his government, army and people would "invariably support the policy of the Russian Federation to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity". Putin hailed the deal in June as a "breakthrough document". bur-sst/bjtNone

By Fernando Kallas BILBAO, Spain (Reuters) -Kylian Mbappe missed his second penalty in a week as LaLiga champions Real Madrid slumped to a 2-1 defeat at Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday, their fourth loss in the last seven games in all competitions. Athletic were the aggressors throughout the first half against a harried Real Madrid who were short of ideas when in possession and toothless up front, going to the break with no shots on target. Unbeaten for almost two months, Athletic finally managed to break the deadlock to take the lead thanks to a close-range effort by Alex Berenguer in the 53rd minute but Mbappe had a great chance to level from the spot after defender Antonio Ruediger was fouled 15 minutes later. However, the French forward, who missed a spot-kick in the Champions League loss at Liverpool last week, stroked another weak shot that made it easy for Julen Agirrezabala to palm the effort away. Still missing talisman Vinicius Jr and other key players like Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao and Eduardo Camavinga to injuries, Real equalised in the 78th minute when Jude Bellingham fired home a rebound but a bad mistake by Federico Valverde gifted the ball to Gorka Guruzeta who struck the winner past a helpless Thibaut Courtois one minute later. Real missed the chance to close the gap on leaders Barcelona who top the standings on 37 points, four ahead of second-placed Real who have a game in hand. Athletic Bilbao are fourth on 29 points. It was another uninspired performance by Mbappe who has missed two of his five penalties for Real Madrid in all competitions, making him the LaLiga player who has failed to convert most penalties this season. Mbappe arrived with sky-high expectations to boost a stellar Real Madrid squad who won last season’s LaLiga and Champions League titles, but so he has been a shadow of his old self, looking tentative and out of sync from the rest of the team. He has scored 10 goals in Real’s 21 games in all competitions, only seven from open play. At Bilbao, he was a non factor until he fired an angled strike from the edge of the box late in the second half that Athletic goalkeeper Agirrezabala palmed straight to Bellingham who stroke home the rebound to equalise. Rodrygo wasted a golden opportunity to get Real the lead in the next play but Valverde’s error which handed substitute Guruzeta the winner raised more questions about Real’s form with Mbappe firmly under the spotlight. ARTIFICIAL intelligence is taking over dating apps after years of user backlash and exhaustion, according to a bold prediction by officials at Tinder. Tinder , the most popular dating app in the world, is shifting toward new technology as users are becoming burnt out on internet romance. In a recent survey conducted by Forbes , 78 percent of respondents reported feeling "emotionally, mentally, or physically exhausted" by dating apps . Match Group , a tech company that owns online dating services including Tinder, OkCupid, and Hinge, says an AI shift is exactly what the apps need to reignite excitement in users. "AI is going to transform the dating experience," Tinder executive Bernard Kim said at a recent investors meeting, according to the Financial Times . "It’s going to enable us to make all aspects of the online dating journey better." READ MORE ON APPS In preliminary efforts to improve the app experience, Tinder has started to test a trial requirement for users to upload pictures of their faces, which is currently optional in most regions. The app is also testing a check that uses biometric scans to ensure that users' profile pictures aren't fake. Faye Iosotaluno, the CEO of Tinder, also said on investor day that the app is trying an "AI-enabled discovery feature” that would suggest people's matches based on pictures and quizzes. Tinder already uses AI to help its users pick the best pictures to use in their profiles. Most read in News Tech However, the steps toward innovation didn't stop the app's slow descent over the years as sales dropped and digital dating fatigue grew. A year ago, Tinder launched a pricy subscription plan called Tinder Select that allowed users to send messages to profiles without matching with them first. The model sparked a backlash as critics worried that the plan removed consent from the user experience and created opportunities for stalking and harassment. However, users have to meet a specific criteria and go through an application process to be eligible for Tinder Select. Tinder isn't the only dating platform considering AI advancements. Hinge CEO Justin McLeod said at Match's investor day that the Tinder rival plans to create personalized dating coaches for users with the help of AI. Artificial intelligence is a highly contested issue, and it seems everyone has a stance on it. Here are some common arguments against it: Loss of jobs - Some industry experts argue that AI will create new niches in the job market, and as some roles are eliminated, others will appear. However, many artists and writers insist the argument is ethical, as generative AI tools are being trained on their work and wouldn't function otherwise. Ethics - When AI is trained on a dataset, much of the content is taken from the Internet. This is almost always, if not exclusively, done without notifying the people whose work is being taken. Privacy - Content from personal social media accounts may be fed to language models to train them. Concerns have cropped up as Meta unveils its AI assistants across platforms like Facebook and Instagram. There have been legal challenges to this: in 2016, legislation was created to protect personal data in the EU, and similar laws are in the works in the United States. Misinformation - As AI tools pulls information from the Internet, they may take things out of context or suffer hallucinations that produce nonsensical answers. Tools like Copilot on Bing and Google's generative AI in search are always at risk of getting things wrong. Some critics argue this could have lethal effects - such as AI prescribing the wrong health information. “Dating isn’t easy," McLeod told investors, according to CNN . "Many people using the app don’t get that first match and don’t know why — whether it’s their photos, not sending enough likes or taking too long to ask a match on a date. "A dating coach can step in with personalized suggestions." ON A HINGE McLeod said that Hinge plans to fully embrace AI in the coming future with the same goals as Tinder. “While AI is not going to be a panacea when it comes to the very deeply and personal problem of love, I can tell you that it is going to transform the dating app experience, taking it from a do-it-yourself platform to an expertly guided journey that leads to far better outcomes and much better value to our daters,” he said. As AI expands to help daters find their perfect matches on dating apps, users can also take warning against scammers who use AI to prowl dating apps to manipulate or steal from victims. However, social scientist Liesel Sharabi told CNN that daters are still in the "early stages" of embracing AI. Read More on The US Sun “The platforms are still figuring out its role in the online dating experience, but it really does have the potential to transform this space," Sharabi said. Tinder hasn't responded to The U.S. Sun's request for comment.

The Convention against Cybercrime acknowledges the significant risks posed by the misuse of information and communications technologies (ICT), which enable activities on an unprecedented scale, speed, and scope. It highlights the adverse impacts such crimes can have on States, enterprises, and the well-being of individuals and society, and focuses on protecting them offenses such as terrorism, human trafficking, drug smuggling and online financial crimes. It also recognizes the growing impact of cybercrime on victims and prioritizes justice, especially for vulnerable groups. It further underscores the need for technical assistance, capacity-building and collaboration among States and other stakeholders. The Convention against Cybercrime will open for signature at a formal ceremony to be hosted in , , in 2025. It will enter into force 90 days after being ratified by the 40th signatory. If there was something that embodied the idea of “Community Giving” it would have to be, for me, what goes on just prior to Thanksgiving at Our Lady of Peace Parish Hall adjacent to St. Francis Church in Geneva. Literally dozens, maybe in total of over 100 people volunteer their time and contribute in some way to make the Thanksgiving Dinners Project a success. Dare I say this year’s was its biggest yet. About 400 boxes were distributed that fed over 2000 food-insecure people. Leading the effort is Joan Leonard, Coordinator, Social Services Ministry for the Our Lady of Peace Parish and part of the Rochester Diocese. After a long career in the teaching profession she retired in June of 2022. That lasted...one month. That is when she took on this current position that is part-time on paper but a full-time in getting it done. Her position allows her to make contact with many of the most vulnerable families in the area. The Thanksgiving Dinner Project has been going on for over 30 years with many thanks needed to be offered to the congregation of the church who year-round donate items and money for the cause. What Leonard has done, the past three years, is streamline to point that more people are being helped in a very organized, private and dignified manner. That was done by coordinating with various agencies who compiled names and instead of individuals or families coming to pick up a box, the agencies do and disperse back at their locations. Some of the local corporate and community partners who assisted this year with food, personal care kits, and monetary donations, included: Knights of Columbus, Red Jacket Orchards (apples), Sauders (onions), LAW-NY (SNAP nutrition totes), WalMart, and Wegmans. H.R. Richardson and Sons (HRS) Utilities donated the amazing number of 375 turkeys, something that last year the parish shelled out $8000 for from the donations received. Seneca Foods also contributed a large amount of vegetable products. The United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes donated hundreds of "personal care kits" with a long list of 20 items that included a backpack, shampoo, baby wipes, socks, gloves and much more. The list is long but worth sharing of others who gave their time, money etc.. They include parishioners (donated turkeys and finances), teens from the GHS Rotary Interact Club and the Our Lady of Peace Religious Ed program, Troop members from the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts (collected food), many of whom helped fill the dinner boxes and in some cases, delivered them too. Additional assistance and support came from Father Mull, Father Carlos, and Our Lady of Peace Office Staff and Men of Peace, GenevaReads (books), Pedulla’s Liquor Store and Ravine’s Winery donated boxes and numerous selfless volunteers who were on hand throughout the duration of this hefty project. A project takes a year to plan and execute. Tara Farnan, Victor Burgos, Sister Kay, and Sally Muller helped with the Spanish translation, tweek the menu to accommodate many of the hispanic families and assist with deliveries. Benefiting from all this generosity are people from Geneva public and private schools, Our Lady of Peace Parish, those who come through the Office of Social Ministry, farm and agricultural workers from area farms, and newly arrived immigrants. Our Lady of Peace Parish's 2024 Thanksgiving Dinners Project provided a wonderful holiday meal for so many struggling in today's economy. This particular dinner project has increased by about 48% since 2022.
