After watching Redmond explode into the backfield on multiple occasions, making a couple of tackles for a loss in the process, O’Connell wanted to make it known how much he appreciated his impact on the game. So, as he handed out game balls like he typically does after each win, O’Connell made sure Redmond got the recognition he deserved. “Sometimes we start feeling a guy’s energy,” O’Connell said. “Just highlighting that.” Redmond was caught off guard in the locker room at U.S. Bank Stadium, joking that he almost started to get emotional when he heard O’Connell say his name aloud. “It meant a lot,” Redmond said. “It was a special moment.” It was a stark contrast to back in training camp at TCO Performance Center when Redmond got kicked out of practice by O’Connell in response to a scuffle after the whistle. He remembers leaving that particular summer practice a little bit unsure about his future with the Vikings. “When I was walking off I was like, ‘Oh man. What did I do? I messed up,’ ” Redmond said. “The rule was not to fight, and I know that, so I was, like, ‘Man. I can’t be doing this stuff. I’m barely here.’ ” Fortunately for Redmond, O’Connell was forgiving in the immediate aftermath, and he got to keep his spot on the roster. Fortunately for the Vikings, Redmond has made the most of his opportunity, and he has slowly started carving out a niche for himself this season. “There’s a reason why he made our team,” O’Connell said. “He’s a perfect fit for our scheme with the way we move those guys up front.” The fact that Redmond has proven skills as interior pass rusher is something defensive coordinator Brian Flores has tapped into even more he’s found places to insert him into the game on a weekly basis. “The athleticism jumped out immediately,” Flores said. “This guy can run.” That has long been a calling card for Redmond. He was an explosive athlete in college at Oklahoma, and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.81 seconds, proving he had the twitchiness to play at the next level. After signing with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent, Redmond arrived at rookie minicamp hellbent on proving everybody wrong. He got cut after training camp despite showing flashes of his potential. “It crushed me,” Redmond said. “I didn’t know if I was ever going to get another shot.” As he sat at home wondering what was next for him, Redmond randomly got a call from the legendary Bob Stoops, the former head coach of Oklahoma, who is now the head coach of the Arlington Renegades of the UFL. “It was wild,” Redmond said. “I look at my phone and see the name. I was like, “Why is Bob Stoops calling me?’ I answered it and he asked if I wanted to play on his team.” After growing up in in Oklahoma, Redmond was not about to say no to a legend. He joined the Arlington Renegades and eventually parlayed that into a cup of coffee with the Vikings ahead of training camp “I went there with the mindset that I was going to make the best of it and try to get back to where I wanted to be,” Redmond said. “I had a lot of fun there, and it helped get me to where I am now.” Though he wasn’t exactly a household name, Redmond did enough to make the team out of training camp. “Whenever I walk through those doors and my code still works, I don’t take it for granted,” Redmond said. “I put in everything I can to everything I do here because I’ve been on the other side of it.” Now he’s starting to look more and more like somebody who could emerge as a key contributor for the Vikings down the road. “That’s all I wanted to do when I got here,” Redmond said. “Just prove that I can play at this level.” He can. He has a game ball as proof. “I was so happy for him,” Flores said. “I think he’s got a long career in front of him.”

NSW Premier Chris Minns has condemned the actions of "horrific humans" after Sydney's eastern suburbs were rocked by a second antisemitic act in three weeks. Woollahra, a prominent Jewish community in Sydney, was attacked overnight with at least one car set on fire and two homes vandalised with antisemitic graffiti. Mr Minns spoke on the matter on Wednesday morning, slamming the actions of people who have "hate in their hearts". "I'm appalled by it, of course we're worried about it, but it will be met with a full police response, and I think the community needs to come together and condemn these shocking attacks," he told Sky News host Peter Stefanovic on First Edition. "The most important part is that we catch who's responsible for this and send a very clear message that if you perform this kind of hatred, this kind of violent act, you'll be met with the full force of the law...and clearly there's people in the community with hate in their hearts." He also flagged Australia was home per capita to the second-highest number of Holocaust survivors in the world, highlighting how the country was once seen as a place to avoid "hatred and division". The Premier said he was set to meet with local police officers in the eastern suburbs and that he had spoken with the NSW Police Commissioner, and David Ossip, the President of the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies during a busy morning as he aimed to establish a "united condemnation" of the attack. He also said the fact the person who was responsible for the prior antisemitic act in Woollahra has been arrested, providing optimism the offender will again be tracked down following the latest incident. Executive Council of Australian Jewry co-chief executive Alex Ryvchin said the Jewish community again woke "to scenes of terror and devastation". "More burning cars and broken glass. Another act intended to terrorise us, drive us from our country and make our fellow Australians fearful of associating with us," Mr Ryvchin said in a statement to SkyNews.com.au. "How long will this continue and with what horrors will it end? We ask that you stand with us. March with us. Don’t let this evil tear our country to pieces. We expect the new AFP taskforce to bring the perpetrators swiftly to justice.” Emergency services were called to the scene about 1am. Firefighters worked to extinguish the flames which destroyed a Toyota Corolla. Police said the car, two buildings and a footpath were vandalised. There are reports seven homes were spray-painted with hate speech. Investigators say two people were seen in the vicinity at the time of the rampage, describing them as aged 15 to 20, slim build, wearing face coverings and dark clothing. Mr Minns was also asked by Stefanovic for his response to Foreign Minister Penny Wong's recent comments where she equated Israel to Russia and China. “We expect Russia to abide by international law and end its illegal full-scale war on Ukraine. We expect China to abide by international legal decisions in the South China Sea. We also expect Israel to abide by international law," Senator Wong said on Monday night. The Premier said he was not aware of the comments, but declared "the answer is no" if he was asked to equate the actions of Russia with Israel. Retiring 2GB radio host Ray Hadley later heaped praise on Mr Minns' ongoing response to antisemitism in NSW, when speaking on First Edition, giving him a glowing recommendation for the nation's top job. "He should be the prime minister. I mean, he's got a handle on it. You know, he's basically on other channels this morning condemning Penny Wong for what she said and disagrees with that vehemently," Hadley said. "He's showing leadership, what the federal government showing is belated leadership and being undermined by the words of people like Bowen and Wong. "The Prime Minister has lost control of his government. That's what he's lost control of going to election sometime next year." The Premier was also asked about Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's response to antisemitism on a federal level, and moved to defend the Labor leader as someone who always stood up for racism in the community. "I've spoke to him many times about this issue and others. He's someone whose entire public life has been standing up against racism in our community," he said. "He was one of the loudest voices against the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement against Israel. He stood resolutely against that. "I'll work with him absolutely to confront what is despicable hate crimes and antisemitism in our community."

FCC Proposes New Cybersecurity Rules for Telecoms

A man in Greater Noida of Uttar Pradesh was caught on camera thrashing his pet dog and throwing him on the ground, police on Thursday said. Inspector-in-charge of Ecotech-3 Police Station Anil Kumar Pandey said a video appeared on social media Wednesday in which a person, who looked like a woman, was seen beating a dog. The incident took place in Mahagun Mantra Society and the person was identified as 40-year-old Harishankar Gupta, he said. "In the blurry video circulated on social media, the accused of beating the dog appeared to be a woman, but investigation revealed that he is a man who wears women's clothes and has long hair," he said. Several users on social media, including Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon, expressed their outrage at the video. Responding to the post, Tandon demanded "strict action" against the accused. Star Shrugs Off Big Injury Concern Trump Pick Matt Gaetz Withdraws As Nominee For US Attorney General AAP "Fishing In Congress' Waters" As Arvind Kejriwal Plots Re-Election BidDespite Mary Lou McDonald’s confidence around shaping a coalition without Fine Gael and Fianna Fail – the two parties that have dominated the landscape of Irish politics for a century – the pathway to government for Sinn Fein still appears challenging. With counting following Friday’s election still in the relatively early stages – after an exit poll that showed the main three parties effectively neck-and-neck – there is some way to go before the final picture emerges and the options for government formation crystalise. Taoiseach and Fine Gael leader, Simon Harris, has dismissed talk of a Sinn Fein surge and said he was “cautiously optimistic” about where his party will stand after all the votes are counted. Meanwhile, Ireland’s deputy premier and Fianna Fail leader, Micheal Martin, insisted his party has a “very clear route back to government” as he predicted seat gains. The counting process could last days because of Ireland’s complex system of proportional representation with a single transferable vote (PR-STV), where candidates are ranked by preference. The early indications have turned the focus to the tricky arithmetic of government formation, as the country’s several smaller parties and many independents potentially jockey for a place in government. Ms McDonald told reporters at the RDS count centre in Dublin that she would be “very, very actively pursuing” the potential to form a government with other parties on the left of the political spectrum. The smaller, left-leaning parties in Ireland include the Social Democrats, the Irish Labour Party, the Green Party and People Before Profit-Solidarity. Ms McDonald said her party had delivered an “incredible performance” in the election. “I think it’s fair to say that we have now confirmed that we have broken the political mould here in this state,” she said. “Two party politics is now gone. It’s consigned to the dustbin of history and that, in itself, is very significant.” She added: “I am looking to bring about a government of change, and I’m going to go and look at all formulations. “If you want my bottom line, the idea of Fianna Fail and Fine Gael for another five years, in our strong opinion, is not a good outcome for Irish society. “Obviously, I want to talk to other parties of the left and those that we share very significant policy objectives with. So I’m going to do that first and just hear their mind, hear their thinking. But be very clear, we will be very, very actively pursuing entrance into government.” In Friday night’s exit poll, Sinn Fein was predicted to take 21.1% of first-preference votes, narrowly ahead of outgoing coalition partners Fine Gael and Fianna Fail at 21% and 19.5% respectively. Prior to the election, Fianna Fail and Fine Gael both ruled out entering government with Sinn Fein. Fine Gael leader Mr Harris rejected suggestions Sinn Fein had broken new ground. He told reporters in his count centre in Greystones, Co Wicklow: “Certainly we haven’t seen a Sinn Fein surge or anything like it. “I mean, it looks likely, on the figures that we’ve seen now, fewer people, many fewer people would have voted Sinn Fein in this election than the last one. “In fact, I think they’re down by around 5% and actually the parties, particularly the two parties, the two larger parties in government, are likely to receive significant support from the electorate. So definitely, politics in Ireland has gotten much more fragmented.” He said it was too early to tell what the next government would look like. “I think anybody who makes any suggestion about who is going to be the largest party or the construct of the next government, they’re a braver person than I am,” he said. “Our electoral system dictates that there’ll be many, many transfers that will go on for hours, if not days, before we know the final computations at all. “But what I am very confident about is that my party will have a very significant role to play in the years ahead, and I’m cautiously optimistic and excited.” Fianna Fail’s Mr Martin told reporters at a count centre in Cork he was confident that the numbers exist to form a government with parties that shared his political viewpoint. Mr Martin said it “remains to be seen” whether he would return to the role of Taoiseach – a position he held between 2020 and 2022 – but he expressed confidence his party would outperform the exit poll prediction. “It’s a bit too early yet to call the exact type of government that will be formed or the composition of the next government,” he said. “But I think there are, there will be a sufficiency of seats, it seems to me, that aligns with the core principles that I articulated at the outset of this campaign and throughout the campaign, around the pro-enterprise economy, around a positively pro-European position, a government that will strongly push for home ownership and around parties that are transparently democratic in how they conduct their affairs.” Asked if it would be in a coalition with Fianna Fail, Fine Gael and the Social Democrats, he said that would be “racing a bit too far ahead”. The final result may dictate that if Fianna Fail and Fine Gael are to return to government, they may need more than one junior partner, or potentially the buy-in of several independent TDs. Mr Martin said it was unclear how quickly a government can be formed, as he predicted his party would gain new seats. “It will be challenging. This is not easy,” he added. The junior partner in the outgoing government – the Green Party – looks set for a bruising set of results. Green leader Roderic O’Gorman is in a fight to hold onto his seat, as are a number of party colleagues, including Media Minister Catherine Martin. “It’s clear the Green Party has not had a good day,” he said. The early counting also suggested potential trouble for Fianna Fail in Wicklow, where the party’s only candidate in the constituency, Health Minister Stephen Donnelly, is considered to have a battle ahead, with the risk of losing his seat. Meanwhile, there is significant focus on independent candidate Gerard Hutch who, on Saturday evening, was sitting in fourth place in the four-seat constituency of Dublin Central. Last spring, Mr Hutch was found not guilty by the non-jury Special Criminal Court of the murder of David Byrne, in one of the first deadly attacks of the Hutch-Kinahan gangland feud. Mr Byrne, 33, died after being shot six times at a crowded boxing weigh-in event at the Regency Hotel in February 2016. A Special Criminal Court judge described Mr Hutch, 61, as the patriarchal figurehead of the Hutch criminal organisation and said he had engaged in “serious criminal conduct”. The constituency will be closely watched as other hopefuls wait to see if transfers from eliminated candidates may eventually rule him out of contention. In the constituency of Louth, the much-criticised selection of John McGahon appeared not to have paid off for Fine Gael. The party’s campaign was beset by questioning over footage entering the public domain of the candidate engaged in a fight outside a pub in 2018. The Social Democrats have a strong chance of emerging as the largest of the smaller parties. The party’s leader, Holly Cairns, was already celebrating before a single vote was counted however, having announced the birth of her baby girl on polling day.

The Fresno City Council made by city staff along two northeast city roads. A stretch of Friant Road from Shepherd to Copper avenues changed from 50 miles per hour to 45. On Friant between Copper Avenue and Copper River Drive, the 55 MPH limit is now 50. On Audubon, between First and Del Mar, the limit dropped from 40 MPH to 35. The area of Friant and Audubon is known for its traffic accidents and deaths. A neighbor in that area even set up a YouTube channel documenting accidents called . Videos depict collisions caused by speeding, red light runners and general bad driving. Scott Mozier, the city’s public works director, said accidents are not a factor in setting new speeds. The new standards are based on state law, Mozier said. The city conducted a speed survey for the roads. The new limit (rounded by five) is set at the 85th percentile of traffic. In recent years, the city made traffic safety improvements on Friant Road, including no right-hand turns, more visible traffic lights, and crosswalks. “We are not aware of any design flaw in that area. Certainly grade separations are ... nearly always preferred, but those are extremely expensive projects to build bridges and grade separate roadways,” Mozier said. The city council voted 7-0 on the consent calendar agenda, without further discussion. More Parks Made High Priority Through Measure P The formula to spend Measure P funds on parks in the highest need will include more parks, the city council decided. The current spending plan calls for spending at least 33% in neighborhoods in the highest-need areas. A consultant tested changing that threshold to 10%, 25% or 50%. Survey respondents said they wanted to expand to 50% and the city council agreed. At the 33% level, 23 parks are covered. The new definition also includes empty lots controlled by the parks department At 50%, 64 parks and facilities are covered. Of the estimated $38 million that is collected in the Measure P three-eights of a percent sales tax, 46% goes to maintaining current parks, and 21.5% goes to new parks. The rest is for trails and various programs. The city uses 11 metrics to determine what neighborhoods are considered “high need.” existing conditions, demographics of the neighborhood, and pollution burden. The follows a 6-0 recommendation form the parks commission. City Councilmember Nelson Esparza voted against changing the allocation percentage. “Raising the threshold too much defeats the purpose of highest need and spreads thin the amount of dollars available to some of the neediest District 7 parks,” Esparza told Politics 101. City Council Initiates Food Vendor Law The city council regulating mobile street vendors. Among the changes are locations were vendors can sell, the requirement for bossiness and health permits, and no cooking in public. Several street vendors spoke, asking the city council to delay its decision to allow more time to understand the impact. Even with a reduction of fines from the original plan, $25 is too much one vendor said. Councilmember Miguel Arias — who helped formulate the plan — defended the ordinance. He said the policy gives vendors time, a six-month grace period. Arias said regulations are needed for health and safety. “I can understand why people don’t like rules, but rules are there to keep people safe,” Arias said. Other City Council Action

CES 2025 preview: What to expectTEHRAN –According to Shina Ansari, the head of the Department of Environment (DOE), no single organization will be able to successfully preserve the environment on its own; environmental issues will be best addressed through public participation. “There are many environmental challenges in habitats, wildlife, and wetlands which can not be tackled just by the efforts and measures of the Department of Environment,” IRIB quoted Ansari as saying. The official made the remarks at the closing ceremony of the 22nd international environmental exhibition which was held from December 18 to 22. According to the Constitution, protecting the environment is everyone’s responsibility, Ansari added. She went on to call for assistance and cooperation from different strata, organizations, economic sectors, activists, as well as government bodies like ministries of education, agriculture, and foreign affairs. To be able to preserve the environment, we need to recognize it as one of our main concerns, Ansari further noted. The 22nd international environmental exhibition was held with the theme of ‘public involvement, green economy, sustainable future’. It focused on ‘economic environment, environmental economy’, to highlight the importance of social responsibility in protecting the environment. It aimed to raise public awareness about environmental issues, provide an opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and experiences among experts, specialists, and environmental activists, and introduce and encourage the use of innovative solutions and advanced technologies to reduce fuel and energy consumption. Preserving natural resources, fostering interactions and cooperation between institutions, organizations, and companies active in the field of environment and energy, promoting the concepts of sustainability and social responsibility among the people as well as encouraging environmentally friendly behaviors were among the other goals of the exhibition. The event also sought to persuade industries, mining, and petrochemical units to support the preservation of plant and animal species and encourage them to take steps toward enhancing air quality. During the presidential election, the environmental committee of the elected President Masoud Pezeshkian offered a program with a focus on the preservation of the environment and the stability of the country. The program is structured around six axes: moving towards a green economy; managing and improving various quantitative and qualitative dimensions of environmental imbalances (such as economy, energy, and water); effectively protecting biological resources (including natural resources and biodiversity); achieving good environmental governance; addressing public demands in the field of environment, and enhancing international bilateral or multilateral cooperation in the field of environment. To compile the program, general environmental policies, Article 50 of the Constitution, and other national policy documents have been taken into account. Moreover, the president-elect has highlighted the necessity of observing environmental considerations in development plans. Pezeshkian believes that no development plan should be initiated without taking environmental considerations into account; in other words, the environment should be the central pillar of all development matters. Referring to the increasing occurrence of sand and dust storms (SDSs) in the region and the environmental statement on bolstering environmental diplomacy, the administration of Pezeshkian will definitely endorse regional and global interactions to tackle not only SDSs issue but also water diplomacy and transboundary waters as other critical issues. Exchanging regional and global experiences in the field of environment, laying the ground for facilitating interactions and benefiting from global experiences and modern knowledge, and participating at various levels of environment-related negotiations in order to attract resources, enhance capabilities and secure national interests are parts of objectives in this context. Drafting a binding legal document within the framework of the Convention on Biological Diversity to protect biodiversity, and manage valuable ecosystems such as national parks and national natural monuments has been highlighted. Also, preventing the extinction of endangered species including cheetah, and bustard will be a top priority. MT/MGGlobal stock markets mostly retreated Tuesday as traders eyed looming US inflation data and a key European interest rate call amid global political upheaval. After winning numerous records in the weeks since the November 5 US presidential election, US stocks fell for the second straight day as analysts pointed to profit-taking. Most Californians are pessimistic about the state’s future and disapprove of how Gov. Gavin Newsom and state lawmakers are handling the economy, according to a wide-ranging poll released late Monday. However, a majority of Californians are optimistic about their own financial future and are not planning to leave the state, according to the poll conducted by the nonpartisan Public Policy Institute of California in San Francisco. At the same time, low-income residents reported higher rates of struggling with the costs of housing, food, and health care. “Most people are doing reasonably well,” said Mark Baldassare, the institute’s survey director. “Not everybody.” Pollsters surveyed 2,344 adult Californians in five languages between Nov. 6 - one day after Election Day - and Nov. 22. The margin of error was plus or minus 3.1 percentage points for the total sample group. When asked if they approved of the way Newsom is handling jobs and the economy, 50% said no, 48% approved and 2% were undecided. Disapproval of state lawmakers’ performance was higher, at 54%. Dipped below 50% The institute has asked voters these same questions annually since 2020. This is the first year support for Newsom’s handling of the economy has dipped below 50%, Baldassare said. After economic concerns helped fuel Republicans’ sweeping victory in last month’s general election, Newsom said Democrats need to talk more about the economy. He began touring conservative counties to promote a state economic development plan. “More jobs,” Newsom posted on his X social media account on Nov. 22, touting his effort. “More businesses. Higher wages. Faster.” However, San Luis Obispo District Attorney Dan Dow replied: “You’ve been chasing business out of the state and suddenly you want to ‘help’ businesses?” His response suggested the governor, widely assumed to be a future presidential contender, still has work to do to win over skeptics. Newsom has said: “California is where the American Dream is alive and well,” and that as “the most diverse state in the world’s most diverse democracy, California is big-hearted, thriving, inclusive and bold.” Expecting ‘bad times’ Despite Newsom’s optimism, 62% of poll respondents said the American Dream - the idea that hard work leads to success - “is harder to achieve in California than elsewhere in the United States.” Most respondents also expressed a bleak outlook for the state’s economy, with 56% expecting “bad times” in the next year. Additionally, 70% felt today’s California children would be worse off than their parents. Still, 79% of respondents said they expect to be either better off financially or about the same in a year. More than 90% reported being “very satisfied” or “somewhat satisfied” with their jobs, and over 80% said they have stable, predictable pay and hours. Regionally, some economic indicators, such as inflation, are improving. Baldassare said California’s deep political divide accounts for the discrepancy between residents’ relative satisfaction with their own lives and their disapproval of the state’s leadership. “When we’re asking about the governor and the Legislature and the state of the economy, we’re also getting a read on the polarization within the state,” he said. “When we’re asking about personal finance ... the differences that emerge are more around where people’s current economic standing is.” Higher rates of hardship Among respondents earning less than $20,000 annually, 44% said it was hard to pay bills, compared to 14% of those making at least $80,000 per year. African Americans, Latinos and renters reported higher rates of hardship. Respondents also showed support for policy ideas advocated by many of California’s ruling Democrats, including free college (66%), eliminating college debt (58%), increasing government funding for child care programs (76%) and job training (79%) and providing homebuyers with $25,000 for a down payment (62%). When asked about priorities for the next president, the largest share - 52% - ranked getting costs and inflation under control as a “very high priority.” This exceeded the 45% who similarly prioritized building an economy that gives every American a chance to succeed.

Newark’s five-candidate contest for two council seats was so close that last month the county registrar called for a rare manual recount. Even then, the contest wasn’t over: the candidate up by four votes on Tuesday, lost by three votes on Thursday. After the election was certified Thursday, Julie Del Catancio had won by that slim margin over Jacinta Arteaga. She’ll join Terrence Grindall, the first-place finisher, as the two newest members of the Newark council. Del Catancio said in an interview that she feels “grateful” to the residents who voted for her. “I’m more energized than ever to serve and lead Newark, to lead families to a place where they feel safe, valued and supported,” Catancio said. Grindall won early on with 7,490, but Arteaga and Del Catancio had exchanged leads for the second seat. In late November, Alameda County Registrar of Voters Tim DuPuis called for manually counting the ballots, which initially showed Arteaga up by four votes. But Del Catancio took the lead this week with 6,452 votes over Arteaga’s 6,449 after ballots previously uncounted because of issues with their signatures were added to the official count. Del Catancio received a law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law and a master’s degree in administration from the University of Kansas. She is currently a Newark planning commissioner and educator in the Newark Unified School District. Del Catancio said that, assuming her lead holds and she makes the council, her top priorities would include addressing residents’ concerns about “responsible growth and safety.” She said that she wants residents to feel safe, and she wants people of all demographics to feel comfortable supporting the city’s communities and businesses. “I really believe in the potential of Newark and the power of our community to come together to make it even a better place to grow,” Del Catancio said. “I really appreciate everyone who put their trust in me and the process of these elections. So I definitely would never take that for granted.” Arteaga did not immediately return a request for comment Thursday.I&M and Stakeholders File Large Load Settlement to Advance Grid Reliability and Support Economic Growth
