(NYSE:IIPR)The Indian agritech landscape has significant growth potential to emerge as an institutional innovation for bridging the technological gap and the country currently has 19 agritech soonicorns and 40 minicorns, that are embracing emerging technologies like AI and developing innovative business models, according to a new RBI paper. Although only a single unicorn is identified in the Indian agri-tech landscape, the total number of agri-tech soonicorns (ready to become unicorns) and minicorns is estimated at 19 and 40, respectively, said the paper titled ‘Agri-Tech Startups and Innovations in Indian Agriculture’ by D Suganthi, Jobin Sebastian and Monika Sethi. A survey of agri-tech startups shows that they benefit from government’s funding support, research and development and state support in the form of digital infrastructure. India’s agri-tech ecosystem witnessed a huge surge in investor interest. With investments increasing from $370 million in 2019 to $1.25 billion in 2021. The investor interest moderated thereafter, mirroring global trends. Global funding to agri-techs reached a peak of $10.9 billion in 2021 and 2022, thereafter moderated sharply to $5.2 billion in 2023. “As regards the share of agri-tech companies by funding, the US holds the highest share (43.2 per cent), followed by China (14.4 per cent), Canada (12 per cent) and India (8.5 per cent). The Indian agri-tech ecosystem has, thus, garnered a significant share of global funding,” the paper said. The central government promotes agripreneurship and innovation through initiatives that reduce regulatory barriers, develop innovation-driven infrastructure facilities, and promote active collaboration among entrepreneurs. “It plays a significant role in building a robust ecosystem for nurturing innovation and facilitating agri-tech mainstreaming by developing agri-stack,” the paper stressed. Emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), big data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, remote sensing, biotechnology, drones, robotics and automation are being employed by several startups. The policy support rendered by the government in the form of ‘Digital India’, ‘Make in India’, startup funds and accelerator and incubator-support initiatives, further accentuated by opportunities generated during the pandemic, have been essential facilitators of agri-tech startups’ growth. According to the paper, despite the progress made so far, agri-techs in India face challenges in scaling up their operations. Game of Throws review — this series hits the bullseyeBY Nick Sabato A year ago seems like an eternity. Imagine how that feels for the Buffalo Bills. Heading into Week 13 last season, the Bills were on their bye. They lost an overtime game to the Philadelphia Eagles after blowing a fourth-quarter lead and another in overtime to fall to 6-6. A playoff berth seemed unlikely and an AFC East championship unfathomable sitting three games behind the Miami Dolphins. And then, of course, the Bills rattled off five consecutive wins to secure their fourth divisional title in a row and the No. 2 seed in the playoffs. Jump ahead to the present and the Bills enter Week 13 coming out of their bye, a 9-2 record and a four-game lead on the Dolphins. This was supposed to be the year the Bills were finally knocked off their throne, but instead, they are a win from clinching a playoff spot and a win and a Dolphins loss from another AFC East banner. While the Bills won’t need to win six in a row to get into the playoffs this time around, they might in order to get home-field advantage and the Dolphins are not quite out of the race for the division yet. This is the time to keep their foot on the gas to avoid any chance of a role reversal. A three-game stretch against the 49ers, Rams and Lions that once seemed to be daunting doesn’t look so tough on paper anymore, but it’s still crucial to come out 2-1. And then there’s the three-game homestretch against the Jets and Patriots (twice). Laugh at the final three games if you will, but the Bills lost to both teams last season and 14 of 27 games within the division have been decided by one score since 2020. And three of their five losses in the AFC East during that span have come against teams that finished below .500. “What we talk about is making sure their habits match our goals as a team and certainly their goals as an individual to be the best version of themselves when they come back,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said. “We're getting into the back third of the season, if you will. ... It's an important time for sure.” If there is a team to avoid a slump, though, it’s the Bills and McDermott is 7-0 coming off a bye week since becoming the team’s head coach in 2017. And by time the Bills kickoff against the 49ers Sunday, the calendar will have flipped to December and that’s when they shine. McDermott’s first three seasons were a slog in December and January, going 6-8. But since 2020, the Bills are 19-2 in those months and outscored opponents by 11.8 points per game. Some of the late-season success is because the Bills fell into precarious situations in the first half. The Bills went 3-2 in the final month and still needed help to squeak into the playoffs in 2017, then they were 7-6 and trailing the Patriots 13 games into 2021, and then, of course, last season’s run to the finish line. Avoiding a drop-off over the final six games is promising for the same reasons that Bills unexpectedly already have nine wins. This is not a roster laden with stars, but one with many players who battled for jobs during training camp, are still battling and will likely have to do so again next year. The Bills have also fostered an environment where goals and expectations are clear. And the Bills have gone out and acquired players to fit into their mold through the draft, free agency and trades. “Last time I checked, nine wins probably doesn't get you in the playoffs,” quarterback Josh Allen said after beating the Chiefs. “So going into this bye week, get to enjoy ourselves a little bit. But coming back ready. You know, a hungry team.” The Bills may also be coming back a healthier team. Tackle Spencer Brown (ankle), receiver Keon Coleman (wrist) and tight end Dalton Kincaid (knee) were not expected to be out long-term and all could return against the 49ers. Receiver Amari Cooper returned against the Chiefs and played with a cast on his left wrist, so another two weeks of rest can only help him. The Bills can open rookie defensive tackle DeWayne Carter’s (wrist) 21-day window to return from injured reserve Saturday, while the Bills expect defensive end Dawuane Smoot (wrist) back before the end of the season. And then there’s the big fish: linebacker Matt Milano. The All-Pro could make his season debut against the 49ers, but they could sit him one more game before having to decide whether to add him to the active roster or shut him down for the year, which has to be determined after the game. What Milano can bring to the Bills at this juncture of the season is unknown, especially for a 30-year-old who hasn’t played a football game in 13 months. Not only is Milano recovering from biceps surgery, but he hasn’t played a game since fracturing his leg in Week 5 last season, although adding Milano to the mix can’t hurt. “We would want to do it,” McDermott said. “If and when we're given the green light — or he's given the green light — to go about it the right way.”Brayden Point's 4-point night leads the Lightning over the Canucks 4-2

LaTroya Grayson was 23 in 2006 when she says she won a pair of tickets on a radio show to attend a party hosted by Combs in New York. She claimed she travelled from Oklahoma to the bash, with a series of photos she took that night showing her with men including Combs' personal assistant. LaTroya told the Daily Mirror about how she believes her drinks were spiked soon after she arrived at the celebrity-packed party: "I spoke a couple of words to Mary J Blige. "I was standing by the bathroom, and next thing I know I passed out. I got really, really dizzy to where I fell out ... next thing I know, I was in the hospital. "I don't know how I got there. I was going in and out of consciousness - back and forth, in and out. I was still pretty messed up." LaTroya said her stomach was later pumped before she was discharged by medics, adding: "I sat on the bench for several hours and they told me I had to leave. But I do believe the hospital called my mom whenever I was there. "I left with no shoes on. My shirt was kind of ripped. I noticed all my money was taken out of my purse except for, like, $20. "I got robbed for my money. I had just enough to get back to the motel in a cab." She said she felt her private parts hurting and a day after she returned home to Oklahoma was called from an unknown number, with a woman alleging then warning her to stay silent about the events of the night of the party. LaTroya went on: "She had all my information and was basically telling me that I couldn't do anything about it, that Puff Daddy was a famous person and I wouldn't get anywhere with the issue if I tried to do anything. "I was pretty depressed afterwards, arguing with my boyfriend. I mean, it took a toll on me. I was telling my mom about it and explained to her what happened. I kind of just stuck to myself, really wasn't talking to too many people." LaTroya told the Mirror she was "most definitely" taking legal action against Combs and said she has secured a legal team. Father Simon Akuraga, has expressed concern over the deteriorating relations between the various ethnic groups in Taraba State, particularly between the Tiv and Jukun. Speaking during the Silver Jubilee celebration of the Tiv traditional leadership in Bali local government council at the weekend, he expressed deep concern over the increasing tensions that have led to lose of lives and destruction of property worth millions of naira. In his paper titled ‘Exploring the Frontiers of Peace and Security by Tiv of Taraba State’, the the clergyman who recalled a time when the Tiv people lived harmoniously with other tribes in the state. He attributed the worsening relationship between the Tiv and Jukun communities to events that occurred during the 1990s. According to him, the inter-tribal conflict resulted in the displacement of people and long-term suffering, with many residents being confined to Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps. While urging all parties involved in the conflict to prioritize peace and demonstrate love for one another, he called for the formation of peace committees, positive parenting, youth engagement, and economic empowerment as strategies to restore and sustain harmony in the state. “Peace is not just the absence of conflict but the presence of justice,” he emphasized. The clergyman who also highlighted the urgency of extending olive branches to displaced persons, stressed the need for the relevant authorities to work round the clock to unite the various ethnic groups in the state. “There is a need to extend our hands of fellowship to our displaced brethren both morally and physically. Faith-based organizations like the Catholic Church are doing their best, but the support of everyone is essential,” he said. “The inability of people to return to their homes and access their farmland not only threatens our livelihood but also weakens our identity and unity as a people.” He also cautioned journalists and social media influencers against spreading false information, urging them to leverage technology to foster development and promote peace and unity within the society.
