Lustberg Publishes Insightful Article on Theft Crimes in New Jersey 12-05-2024 10:44 PM CET | Politics, Law & Society Press release from: ABNewswire Renowned New Jersey theft lawyer [ https://www.lustberglaw.com/theft-attorney/ ] Adam M. Lustberg of Lustberg Law Offices, LLC has published an insightful article discussing theft crimes in New Jersey. This comprehensive piece explores theft laws in the state, offering readers a detailed understanding of the various types of theft crimes, their associated penalties, and potential defense strategies for those accused. In the article, the New Jersey theft lawyer outlines the many forms theft can take under state law. He emphasizes the importance of understanding the specific charges and the degrees of severity associated with them. "Theft is not a one-size-fits-all crime," Lustberg explains. "Each case is unique, and the circumstances surrounding the alleged offense play a crucial role in determining how it's charged and the potential consequences for the accused." The New Jersey theft lawyer further elaborates on the degrees of theft charges, which are determined based on the value of the property involved. For example, theft involving property valued at less than $200 is considered a disorderly person's offense, punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. On the other hand, theft exceeding $75,000 in value constitutes a second-degree offense and carries penalties of up to 10 years in prison and $150,000 in fines. Lustberg underscores the importance of seeking legal representation when facing any theft charge, as the repercussions can have a lasting impact on an individual's life. The article examines a broad range of theft crimes recognized under New Jersey law. These include petty theft, shoplifting, auto theft, robbery, and extortion, among others. Lustberg carefully explains the distinctions between these crimes and how they are prosecuted. In his article, Adam M. Lustberg explores the potential defenses that can be used to challenge theft allegations. He explains that the prosecution must prove elements such as intent and lack of permission to convict someone of theft. Common defenses include insufficient evidence, mistaken identity, and lack of criminal intent. Lustberg also highlights situations in which a person may have taken property under duress or due to entrapment, both of which can serve as valid defenses. "When faced with theft charges, it's vital to build a strong defense tailored to the specifics of the case," says Lustberg. "For example, if a person mistakenly took someone else's property or was coerced into committing the act, these factors can be critical in achieving a favorable outcome." In addition to outlining the penalties for different degrees of theft, Lustberg's article also addresses the long-term consequences of a conviction. Beyond fines and incarceration, a theft conviction can hinder employment opportunities, damage personal relationships, and impact an individual's reputation. Lustberg stresses the importance of proactive legal representation to minimize these repercussions. "Even a seemingly minor theft charge can have far-reaching effects," Lustberg explains. "That's why it's crucial to approach these cases with a thorough understanding of the law and a strong defense strategy." Lustberg also discusses the possibility of expunging theft convictions from a person's criminal record, which can provide a fresh start for those who qualify. He notes that while serious crimes such as robbery are not eligible for expungement, offenses like shoplifting and petty theft may be eligible under certain conditions. Additionally, first-time offenders may be able to participate in pretrial intervention (PTI) programs, which offer alternatives to incarceration such as probation and community service. "These programs are designed to give individuals a second chance while still holding them accountable," Lustberg notes. "By avoiding a traditional trial and sentencing, participants can work toward rehabilitation and reintegration into society." Facing a theft charge can be an overwhelming experience, particularly when the stakes are high. Lustberg's article serves as a valuable resource for anyone seeking clarity on what to expect and how to navigate the legal process. Those charged with theft are encouraged to seek immediate legal counsel to protect their rights and explore their options. NHL-worst Blackhawks fire Richardson as coachFrench President Emmanuel Macron has vowed to stay in office until 2027 and announced that he will name a new prime minister within days following the resignation of ousted Prime Minister Michel Barnier. Mr Macron came out fighting on Thursday after a historic no-confidence vote at the National Assembly left France without a functioning government. He laid blame at the door of his opponents on the far right for bringing down Mr Barnier's government. "They chose disorder," he said. The president said the far right and the far left had united in what he called "an anti-Republican front" and stressed: "I won't shoulder other people's irresponsibility." He said he'd name a new prime minister within days but gave no hints who that might be. While he was critical of his political opponents, Mr Macron also acknowledged his own "responsibility" in the chaos shaking French politics and alarming financial markets. He revisited his decision in June to dissolve parliament, which led to an election that produced a hung parliament. "I do recognise that this decision wasn't understood. Many people criticised me for it. I know many continue to criticise me for it," he said. However, he argued, "I believe it was necessary" to let French voters speak. Earlier in the day, Mr Macron "took note" of Mr Barnier's resignation, the Elysee presidential palace said. Mr Barnier and other ministers will be "in charge of current affairs until the appointment of a new government," the statement said. The no-confidence motion passed by 331 votes in the National Assembly, forcing Mr Barnier to step down after just three months in office—the shortest tenure of any prime minister in modern French history. The new prime minister "will be charged with forming a government of general interest representing all the political forces — that commit not to vote a no-confidence motion," Mr Macron said. The priority will be to pass a budget law for 2025, he added. Mr Macron tore into lawmakers who brought Mr Barnier's government down, accusing them of pursuing their own political interests. He noted that the vote came with the end-of-year holidays just around the corner. "Why did lawmakers act this way? They're not thinking of you, of your lives, your difficulties," he said. "They're thinking of just one thing: the presidential election — to prepare it, to provoke it, to precipitate it." But Mr Macron said he'd see out the 30 months still left in his second and last term as president. Mr Macron faces the critical task of naming a replacement capable of leading a minority government in a parliament where no party holds a majority. Yaël Braun-Pivet, president of the National Assembly and a member of Macron's party, urged the president to move quickly. "I recommend he decide rapidly on a new prime minister," Ms Braun-Pivet said on Thursday on France Inter radio. "There must not be any political hesitation. We need a leader who can speak to everyone and work to pass a new budget bill." The process may prove challenging. Mr Macron's administration has yet to confirm any names, though French media have reported a shortlist of centrist candidates who might appeal to both sides of the political spectrum. Mr Macron took more than two months to appoint Mr Barnier after his party's defeat in June's legislative elections, raising concerns about potential delays this time. The no-confidence vote has galvanised opposition leaders, with some explicitly calling for Mr Macron's resignation. "I believe that stability requires the departure of the President of the Republic," said Manuel Bompard, leader of the far-left France Unbowed party, on BFM TV Wednesday night. Far-right National Rally leader Marine Le Pen , whose party holds the most seats in the Assembly, stopped short of calling for Mr Macron's resignation but warned that "the pressure on the President of the Republic will get stronger and stronger." Mr Macron has dismissed such calls and ruled out new legislative elections. The French constitution does not call for a president to resign after his government was ousted by the National Assembly. "I was elected to serve until 2027, and I will fulfil that mandate," he told reporters earlier this week. The constitution also says that new legislative elections cannot be held until at least July, creating a potential stalemate for policymakers.

Trump's Republican Party is increasingly winning union voters. It's a shift seen in his labor pick WASHINGTON (AP) — Working-class voters helped Republicans make steady election gains this year and expanded a coalition that increasingly includes rank-and-file union members. It's a political shift spotlighting one of President-elect Donald Trump’s latest Cabinet picks: a GOP congresswoman, who has drawn labor support, to be his labor secretary. Oregon Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer narrowly lost her bid for a second term this month, despite strong backing from union members. They're a key part of the Democratic base but are gravitating in the Trump era toward a Republican Party traditionally allied with business interests.Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) supports cutting government spending, but he does not believe someone receiving government money should decide what gets cut. Speaking to MSNBC on Thursday, Murphy addressed Capitol Hill meetings with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy about their new entity, the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE. The department hasn't been created yet, and if it intends to be an actual department, it will need congressional approval. However, the president can appoint toothless blue-ribbon panels or round-table advisories without Congress's approval. ALSO READ: Trump is taking the mask off after lying to us for more than a year "I'm not sure this has anything to do with breaking up the status quo," said Murphy about DOGE. Musk and Ramaswamy have said they plan to cut at least a third of the federal budget, of which the biggest ticket items are Medicare, Social Security and the interest on the national debt. Trump told MAGA supporters he would avoid cutting Social Security and Medicare. "You put a billionaire who basically has made his fortune off government subsidies in charge of deciding how the government should spend its money," Murphy continues. This sounds like either a con job in which Elon Musk comes out of this with his programs protected and perhaps his competitors's programs targeted — or just a TV show." He accused Trump of pretending to care about guns following the Parkland massacre. "Donald Trump pretended he cared about guns. He didn't do anything," said Murphy. The senator even questioned whether this is part of Trump's "show" that he cares about cutting government spending when he doesn't, and the first Trump term proved as much. "Deficits exploding, and more and more debt is saddled upon the American public," said Murphy. He went on to say that Democrats should make their own proposals about where to cut, such as subsidies to insurance companies and drug companies. "Let's come after Elon Musk who made his fortune off taxpayers," Murphy also said. See the video below or at the link here . - YouTube youtu.be
President Joe Biden paused his vacation in the Virgin Islands to address the nation just hours after the passing of a political mentor whom he had grown close to over the decades, former President Jimmy Carter. “America and the world, in my view, lost a remarkable leader,” Biden said. “He was a statesman and humanitarian, and Jill and I lost a dear friend.” Javascript is required for you to be able to read premium content. The Springboks were dominant throughout at the Principality Stadium, scoring seven tries to two in a relentless display that matched attacking accuracy with defensive brutality and set-piece mastery. The result meant the Boks, who wrapped up the Rugby Championship title this year, finish their season with 11 victories from 13 Tests, having used a whopping 52 players and scoring 57 tries. "The first two games we weren't happy, there was so much we could have done better," Springbok captain Siya Kolisi told TNT Sports of opening November victories over Scotland and England. "Results are important but it's how you do things." It was also the first time South Africa have won all their matches on their November tour since 2013 and means they will see in 2025 as World Rugby's number one ranked country. The Boks' sole losses were one-point defeats by Argentina and Ireland, a record of which Gatland and his backroom staff could only dream. Wales' last victory came over pool opponents Georgia in October 2023 at the Rugby World Cup, with Gatland having to blood a raft of inexperienced players after a host of seniors hung up their boots. The pre-match entertainment included choirs singing "Yma O Hyd", the Dafydd Iwan folk song that has become the go-to song for Welsh football's "Red Wall" support. Ironically, it translates into English as "Still Here", albeit in reference to Wales and the Welsh language and not Gatland per se. The Welsh Rugby Union has its AGM on Sunday where discussions are expected on the New Zealander's future. "You don't make a decision straight after a game," said Gatland. "Let's just see what happens over the next few days." Wales captain Dewi Lake told TNT Sports his side had showed "a lot of heart and character". "They are double world champions, that's not for no reason," he said. "We have to keep the faith, the second we lose our faith in ourselves then it's pointless us stepping on the field, we can definitely see a light at the end of the tunnel." The scene was set within the opening eight frantic minutes in the Welsh capital as the visiting lock pair of Franco Mostert and Eben Etzebeth each crossed for a try after deft attacking lead-up play by Kurt-Lee Arendse on both occasions. Kolisi was held up over the line by James Botham, but the Boks fired back to the Welsh line and Arendse got his just rewards for his strong start, stepping inside Blair Murray's attempted tackle with ease. Jordan Hendrikse converted two of the three tries to make it 19-0 after the opening quarter. Murray did well to hold up Aphelele Fassi over the line and Kolisi had a try disallowed, but the toll on Wales was beginning to show. How long could their defence hold out? Not long as the Boks promptly pushed Wales off their own ball at scrum time and flanker Elrigh Louw barged over for the visitors' fourth five-pointer after a quick tap penalty by Jasper Wiese. A rare Welsh incursion into the opposition half saw the home side, wearing white to avoid a colour-blindness clash with the green of South Africa, go for an attacking line-out, but the Boks repelled two 12-man mauls. The ball was eventually moved wide and Welsh winger Rio Dyer showed a brilliant flash of raw pace to scorch the defence for a fine individual try. Sam Costelow missed the conversion to leave the score 26-5 at half-time. Fassi crossed for South Africa's fifth try after the outstanding Arendse split the Welsh line early in the second period. A raft of replacements for both sides gave Wales a degree of respite, but it was not long before Gerhard Steenkamp was driven over from short range. Things turned scrappy and the 67,236-strong crowd turned attention away from the action and Welsh hymns to foot-stomping Mexican waves, always a sure sign the game was well and over as a contest. Hendrikse crossed for the Boks' seventh try and converted for a personal game tally of 15 points before a Botham consolation try converted by Ben Thomas. In other Test action, New Zealand saw off Italy 29-11 in their final match of the year as Sam Cane was given a winning farewell to international rugby in Turin. Cam Roigard, Will Jordan, Mark Tele'a and Beauden Barrett scored the tries as the All Blacks beat Italy for the 18th consecutive time, with fly-half Barrett kicking the rest visitors' points. Cane closed out his Test career with 104 caps, and T-J Perenara also played his final All Blacks match as a second half substitute. (AFP)As previously reported , QT Marshall released a diss track aimed at Big Boom! AJ of the Costco Guys, ahead of their match at Full Gear tonight. In an interview with Fightful ), Marshall gave credit to AEW production team member Giancarlo Dittamo for helping him put together the track. He said: “ When we first brought him in, Giancarlo was like, ‘You know you have to make a parody of this.’ Okay. I’m not in tune with the TikTok world and social media. Every now and again, I’ll chime in, but for the most part, I stay to myself. [Giancarlo] loved it. It was like his baby. It did really well and I thought it was fun. For people that were like, ‘This is worse that...’ whatever, sure, whatever you want to say. It got people talking, it got exposure, and that’s what this industry is about. Eliciting a reaction from the audience. If we’re doing that, we’re doing our job. If it translates, we’ll see. For me, it shows a different side of me. ‘Oh, I didn’t know that guy can have fun.’ I always play a serious role. I get bumped around and stuff, but I play a role on a show. I’ve always been like that. I’ve never tried to go into business for myself. I’m just happy to have a job in wrestling. I don’t take it too seriously. It should be fun. There is business that has to be done and we have to be serious about that and getting in there with the trust of your co-workers, but at the end of the day, it’s a great but ridiculous job. If you can’t go out there, put yourself out there, and have fun. It’s ridiculous fun. Then, there will be serious moments on the show. There’s going to fun. A whole plethora of stuff. It’s a circus and should be a circus. “Prosecutors: Brooklyn businessman will plead guilty to conspiracy charge in case against Mayor Adams
‘One of greatest darts games ever’ Dave Chisnall CRASHES OUT after brilliant win by ‘weird Kettering lad’ Ricky EvansTop-ranked chess player Magnus Carlsen is headed back to the World Blitz Championship on Monday after its governing body agreed to loosen a dress code that got him fined and denied a late-round game in another tournament for refusing to change out of jeans. Lamenting the contretemps, International Chess Federation President Arkady Dvorkovich said in a statement Sunday that he'd let World Blitz Championship tournament officials consider allowing “appropriate jeans” with a jacket, and other “elegant minor deviations” from the dress code. He said Carlsen's stand — which culminated in his quitting the tournament Friday — highlighted a need for more discussion “to ensure that our rules and their application reflect the evolving nature of chess as a global and accessible sport.” Carlsen, meanwhile, said in a video posted Sunday on social media that he would play — and wear jeans — in the World Blitz Championship when it begins Monday. “I think the situation was badly mishandled on their side,” the 34-year-old Norwegian grandmaster said. But he added that he loves playing blitz — a fast-paced form of chess — and wanted fans to be able to watch, and that he was encouraged by his discussions with the federation after Friday's showdown. “I think we sort of all want the same thing,” he suggested in the video on his Take Take Take chess app's YouTube channel. “We want the players to be comfortable, sure, but also relatively presentable.” The events began when Carlsen wore jeans and a sportcoat Friday to the Rapid World Championship, which is separate from but held in conjunction with the blitz event. The chess federation said Friday that longstanding rules prohibit jeans at those tournaments, and players are lodged nearby to make sartorial switch-ups easy if needed. An official fined Carlsen $200 and asked him to change pants, but he refused and wasn't paired for a ninth-round game, the federation said at the time. The organisation noted that another grandmaster, Ian Nepomniachtchi, was fined earlier in the day for wearing sports shoes, changed and continued to play. Carlsen has said that he offered to wear something else the next day, but officials were unyielding. He said “it became a bit of a matter of principle,” so he quit the rapid and blitz championships. In the video posted Sunday, he questioned whether he had indeed broken a rule and said changing clothes would have needlessly interrupted his concentration between games. He called the punishment “unbelievably harsh”. “Of course, I could have changed. Obviously, I didn't want to,” he said, and “I stand by that”. Sheinbaum added Mexico was also preparing to show the Trump administration that mass deportations were unnecessary, emphasizing the importance of Mexicans in the U.S., including the value of taxes they pay. “We will receive Mexicans and we have a plan for it, but before that, we will work to demonstrate that they do not have to deport our compatriots who are on the other side of the border,” Sheinbaum said. “On the contrary, they even benefit the economy of the United States.” Trump has vowed mass deportations and a vast immigration crackdown as soon as he takes office on Jan. 20. He could call on everyone from the U.S. military to diplomats overseas to turn the pledge into a reality. His running mate, JD Vance, estimated deportations could remove one million people per year. Sheinbaum, who took office in October, said on Thursday that migrants should not be treated “as criminals” and has stressed the importance of humanitarian rights when dealing with migration, outlining a delicate balancing act with her future U.S. counterpart. Sheinbaum said this week she will present Trump with a “humanistic approach” to controlling migration that addresses the root causes. Her cabinet would be meeting on Thursday to discuss issues facing Mexico under the incoming Trump administration, including migration, trade, and security. Meanwhile, two caravans of migrants making their way towards the U.S. border are advancing from southern Mexico, including one which set out on Wednesday. The other caravan started from the southern city of Tapachula two weeks ago and continues pressing onwards towards the border, though migration officials have said its size has reduced dramatically from the initial 3,000 participants. Photos circulating on social media have shown Mexico’s National Guard confronting the migrants and trying to block the caravans from moving north. Not Purdy: 49ers hit Green Bay with backup QB, no Bosa
