But what does the tech industry expect to gain out of their renewed relationships with Trump? During an interview Tuesday, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said the incoming Trump administration seems more interested in hearing about issues that are important to the industry than the Biden administration. “Put all the politics aside, everybody wants to reboot some things,” said Benioff, who stressed he strives to stay nonpartisan because he also owns Time magazine. ”We are just at a very exciting moment, it’s a new chapter for America. The DWP says a consultation will be published in spring 2025 and has assured claimants that it will "put the views and voices of disabled people at the heart of any policy changes that directly affect them." Under the Conservative government, the DWP published a green paper in April that proposed measures to tackle soaring claims for Personal Independence Payment (PIP). The document suggested several changes, including replacing cash payments with vouchers, grants, or shopping catalogues. Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall has indicated an upcoming overhaul of sickness and disability benefits, stating: "I will be putting forward our own proposals to reform sickness and disability benefits. This is extremely difficult and I know people really want more detail, but we won't do that until we're absolutely ready and have had the proper discussions with people." Meanwhile, benefit payment rates, including those for PIP and DLA, are scheduled to increase by 1.7 per cent as of April 2025 to keep pace with inflation. This adjustment will see the PIP daily living component standard rate move up to £73.90 from £72.65, and the enhanced rate from £108.55 to £110.40. The mobility component will also see an increase from £28.70 to £29.20 at the standard rate and £75.75 to £77.05 at the enhanced rate. Benefit claimants could receive one or both of the components paid every four weeks, and hence the maximum payment of £737.20 for those receiving both enhanced rates is set to increase to £749.80. In a move to better understand claimants' needs, a DWP minister has revealed a study will be conducted to look into what people need their Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for, with results expected next summer. This comes after MPs questioned whether PIP sufficiently supports the additional costs tied to disability. Furthermore, he mentioned, "DWP pays close attention to estimates of the extra costs faced by disabled people, including academic research, analysis by Scope, and DWP's own commissioned research on the Uses of Health and Disability Benefits from 2019." The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is launching a new survey to better understand the needs of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) customers, with findings expected by Summer 2025. The project's advisory group includes representatives from disability charities, disabled people's organisations, and academic experts. Currently, there are 2.8 million people who are economically inactive due to long-term illnesses, with muscle and joint pains being the second most common reason after mental health issues. For approximately 646,000 individuals, musculoskeletal disorders are their primary condition, and many receive Universal Credit incapacity payments for long-term sickness. Although Personal Independence Payment (PIP) was not specifically mentioned in the announcement and recipients can receive it irrespective of employment status, over 1.1 million individuals collect the benefit for disabilities impacting daily life and mobility. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has recorded that musculoskeletal conditions noted on PIP claim forms span various arthritis types, back pain, amputations, and problems relating to shoulders, necks, hips, and knees. Many of these individuals are likely to be also receiving Universal Credit's sickness payment if they're assessed as unable to work.
