NEW YORK (AP) — Kaapo Kaako scored a power-play goal with 24 seconds left, and the New York Rangers stopped a five-game slide by topping the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 on Saturday. Artemi Panarin, Vincent Trocheck and Mika Zibanejad also scored for the Rangers, who got their first win since a 4-3 victory at Vancouver on Nov. 19. Adam Fox had two assists, and Jonathan Quick made 25 saves. With Montreal’s Kirby Dach serving a four-minute, high-sticking penalty, Kaako got his fourth goal of the season. The Canadiens trailed 3-1 after two periods. But Cole Caufield scored his 14th goal 4:16 into the third and Nick Suzuki tied it at 14:07. VICTORIA Mary Clarke has shared a touching tribute to her late husband Shane MacGowan on the first anniversary of his death. The Pogues frontman passed away 12 months ago surrounded by his family after an eight-year health battle, aged 65. The legendary singer-songwriter 's wife, Victoria, took to her social media today to share a picture of Shane. Alongside the old snap, Victoria wrote out a heartfelt message, marking the anniversary of her husband's passing. She said: "It's @shanemacgowanofficial anniversary tomorrow and I just wanted to say that I know that a lot of people will remember Shane for his music and his songs and his singing. "And I know that there are lots of bands doing tribute gigs and playing his songs an they feel that his spirit lives on through the music. "But I feel that Shane's heart and soul are the most important and beautiful thing to remember and his soul will live and love for eternity. "It was always his enormous love for humanity that made him the person that he was as a human being. "He had a way of seeing straight through the b******t and the flattery and all of the elitist nonsense that sets people apart from each other. "He respected everyone equally and he had a tenderness and compassion for the outcasts and the marginalised especially the homeless and those people struggling with addiction. "He had the best laugh and the best sense of humour that I ever came across and he had no need to be better than anyone else. Fleck said postgame. “We were in the perfect defense for (the throwback pass). We practiced it all week. The only thing that they showed ... was pop (Carter) out. Social media users report they cannot access Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp, as Meta confirms a mass outage of its platforms. Outage tracking website was flooded with more than 100,000 reports of problems, which started about 3am (AEST). In a statement posted to X, Meta confirmed it was aware that a “technical issue” was impacting “some users” of their apps. It’s not clear how extensive the outage is, but reports suggest it is worldwide. “We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologise for any inconvenience,” the statement read. Similar statements were issued by Instagram and WhatsApp acknowledging and apologising for the issue. The WhatsApp statement concluded: “We expect things to be back to normal shortly”. Police are trying to catch a motorcyclist who was filmed swerving between oncoming traffic while riding without a helmet. The incident was captured by a dashcam about 2.30pm, November 13, on Gehrke Road in the Lockyer Valley. Police are appealing for anyone who recognises the rider or his passenger, who police said appeared to be female, to come forward. They do not believe anyone was injured in the stunt. An 80-year-old man has been charged with historical child sexual offences almost a month after police arrested him in his Rosemount home, but investigators suspected the man had committed further offences.
