By DAVID BAUDER Time magazine gave Donald Trump something it has never done for a Person of the Year designee: a lengthy fact-check of claims he made in an accompanying interview. Described as a “12 minute read,” it calls into question 15 separate statements that Trump made. It was the second time Trump earned the Time accolade; he also won in 2016, the first year he was elected president. Time editors said it wasn’t a particularly hard choice over other finalists Kamala Harris, Elon Musk, Benjamin Netanyahu and Kate Middleton. Time said Friday that no other Person of the Year has been fact-checked in the near-century that the magazine has annually written about the figure that has had the greatest impact on the news. But it has done the same for past interviews with the likes of Joe Biden, Netanyahu and Trump. Such corrections have been a sticking point for Trump and his team in the past, most notably when ABC News did it during his only debate with Democrat Kamala Harris this fall. There was no immediate response to a request for comment on Friday. In the piece, Time called into question statements Trump made about border security, autism and the size of a crowd at one of his rallies. When the president-elect talked about the “massive” mandate he had received from voters, Time pointed out that former President Barack Obama won more electoral votes the two times he had run for president. The magazine also questioned Trump’s claim that he would do interviews with anyone who asked during the campaign, if he had the time. The candidate rejected a request to speak to CBS’ “60 Minutes,” the magazine said. “In the final months of his campaign, Trump prioritized interviews with podcasts over mainstream media,” reporters Simmone Shah and Leslie Dickstein wrote. No one rejects, dislikes, or avoids pleasure itself, because it is pleasure, but because those who do not know how to pursue pleasure rationally encounter consequences that are extremely painful. Join Gorilla Technology's Exclusive Live Investor Webinar and Q&A Session on December 12November 23 - Amid a rocky start to the season, Villanova coach Kyle Neptune saw his team's defense strengthen during Tuesday's 93-49 home win over Pennsylvania. "I thought we were way more cohesive than we've been," Neptune said. "Guys were together, they were talking. I thought our switches were better." The improved chemistry comes at a critical time for the Wildcats (3-3), who face a high-powered Maryland squad at the Empire Classic on Sunday afternoon in Newark, N.J. Villanova stymied the Quakers to 26.9 percent shooting from the field and allowed its fewest points in a game this season. That came after the Wildcats let Virginia hit 14 of 25 3-pointers (56 percent) in the Cavaliers' 70-60 win on Nov. 15 in Baltimore. Neptune's squad also enjoyed a strong game on Tuesday from Tyler Perkins, who tallied 12 points, nine rebounds and three steals in a spot start. The Penn transfer has averaged 8.3 points across six games (two starts), but Neptune said the guard's impact extends beyond the box score. "(He's) the ultimate competitor," Neptune said. "From the first second he got on campus, he's set the tone. No matter what team he's on, you know he's gonna bring it." Tuesday's 44-point margin was Villanova's most lopsided win this season, but the Terrapins (4-1) were even more dominant in their game Tuesday by blasting visiting Canisius by 71 points. All four of Maryland's victories have come by at least 30. Like the Wildcats, the Terrapins benefitted from a lineup change in their last game. Coach Kevin Willard moved DeShawn Harris-Smith to the bench in favor of fellow guard Rodney Rice, who delivered 13 points and made three 3-pointers as Maryland rolled to a 108-37 win. Rice has hit 12 of 27 from 3-point range this season to complement the post production of big men Derik Queen (15.0 points per game) and Julian Reese (12.2), a dynamic that has made the Terrapins tough to defend. "I think we're able to space the floor out a little bit better (with Rice)," Willard told Maryland's student newspaper. "You have three (guards) who are ready to pull the trigger." Backcourt mates Ja'Kobi Gillespie (11-for-28) and Selton Miguel (5-for-20) are the Terrapins' three most frequent 3-point shooters along with Rice. --Field Level Media Our Standards: The Thomson Reuters Trust Principles. , opens new tab

Pete Alonso and the Mets at odds over money: More than $100 million prevents dealThe highly anticipated Peaky Blinders film “won’t be the end” of the popular gangster series, creator Steven Knight has said. Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy is reprising his role as Birmingham gangster Tommy Shelby for the film, which is set following the events of the original BBC drama which ran for six series from 2013 to 2022. Advertisement Following the film wrapping production, Knight has revealed that it will be around a year before the project is released. Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight (Jacob King/PA) Speaking to Times Radio about a future release date, Knight said: “It’s a bit too soon for that, but you know, you can sort of work out that it will be about a year.” Advertisement Asked if there are any more plans for Peaky Blinders beyond the film, he replied: “It’s interesting you should ask that question because the film is coming out and that won’t be the end.” The screenwriter was questioned if that meant fans could expect more series in the future, but he refused to provide more details. The film is believed to be titled The Immortal Man and has been teased to involve new conflicts for the Shelby family set during the Second World War. Advertisement Saltburn and The Banshees Of Inisherin star Barry Keoghan will join fellow Irish actor Murphy in the new film. Earlier this month a photo was shared by Netflix of the pair looking jubilant while wearing flat caps and suits as the streamer confirmed filming had wrapped on the project. Other returning cast members include British actors Stephen Graham as union organiser Hayden Stagg and Sophie Rundle as Ada Shelby, while Dune actress Rebecca Ferguson and Pulp Fiction actor Tim Roth have also joined the project. Advertisement Tom Harper, who previously directed episodes in the first season in 2013, will return to helm the film. Where Will Vici Properties Stock Be in 3 Years? With his party winning three of the four Assembly seats in Punjab where bypolls were held, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Raghav Chadha has said the results are a stamp of approval for the Bhagwant Mann government in the state under the leadership of party chief Arvind Kejriwal. Speaking to news agency ANI on Saturday, Mr Chadha pointed out that these three seats had never been won by the AAP before and also reflected on the results in Maharashtra - where the INDIA bloc was routed - and Jharkhand - which it retained - saying that it was a case of ' kahin khushi, kahin gham ' (happiness in one place, sadness in the other). "The results of the Punjab bypolls are very encouraging and I congratulate the workers of the AAP. The work of Bhagwan Mann's government under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal has been given a stamp of approval by the people. The three seats - Chabbewal, Gidderbaha and Dera Baba Nanak - that we have won today are constituencies where the AAP has never won," he said in Hindi. "When the Punjab Assembly elections were held in 2022, there was a tsunami in favour of Aam Aadmi Party, but we still could not win these seats. This shows that people have been influenced by the work done by our government in the past two-and-a-half years," he added. The Rajya Sabha MP said that even in the fourth seat of Barnala, the AAP had lost by a slim margin. Responding to a question on the Maharashtra and Jharkhand results, Mr Chadha said, "It is a case of ' kahin khushi, kahin gham ' for the INDIA alliance. The bloc lost in Maharashtra and the Eknath Shinde government and the coalition got an important victory. In Jharkhand, a negative type of politics, vendetta politics, has been rejected by the people, who have given a big mandate to Hemant Soren and the INDIA alliance. I believe that, with the Jharkhand victory, the negative kind of politics will weaken or end and the politics of governance development will get an impetus." The MP also said that a discussion will be held on the Maharashtra results after they have been analysed.
