Non-GAAP Financial Measures and Other Key Metrics To supplement our consolidated financial statements, which are prepared and presented in accordance with GAAP, we use certain non-GAAP financial measures, as described below, to understand and evaluate our core operating performance. These non-GAAP financial measures, which may be different than similarly-titled measures used by other companies, are presented to enhance investors' overall understanding of our financial performance and should not be considered a substitute for, or superior to, the financial information prepared and presented in accordance with GAAP. We believe that these non-GAAP financial measures provide useful information about our financial performance, enhance the overall understanding of our past performance and future prospects, and allow for greater transparency with respect to important metrics used by our management for financial and operational decision-making. We present these non-GAAP measures to assist investors in seeing our financial performance using a management view, and because we believe that these measures provide an additional tool for investors to use in comparing our core financial performance over multiple periods with other companies in our industry. However, these non-GAAP measures are not intended to be considered in isolation from, a substitute for, or superior to our GAAP results. Non-GAAP gross profit, non-GAAP gross margin, non-GAAP operating expenses, non-GAAP income from operations, non-GAAP operating margin, non-GAAP net income and non-GAAP net income per share : We define these non-GAAP financial measures as the respective GAAP measures, excluding expenses related to stock-based compensation, employer payroll tax on employee stock transactions, amortization of acquisition-related intangibles, amortization of debt discount and issuance costs, fair value adjustments to strategic investments, acquisition-related expenses, lease-related impairment and lease-related charges, restructuring and other related charges, as these costs are not reflective of ongoing operations and, as applicable, other special items. The amount of employer payroll tax-related items on employee stock transactions is dependent on our stock price and other factors that are beyond our control and do not correlate to the operation of the business. When evaluating the performance of our business and making operating plans, we do not consider these items (for example, when considering the impact of equity award grants, we place a greater emphasis on overall stockholder dilution rather than the accounting charges associated with such grants). We believe it is useful to exclude these expenses in order to better understand the long-term performance of our core business and to facilitate comparison of our results to those of peer companies and over multiple periods. In addition to these exclusions, we subtract an assumed provision for income taxes to calculate non-GAAP net income. We utilize a fixed long-term projected tax rate in our computation of the non-GAAP income tax provision to provide better consistency across the reporting periods. For fiscal 2024 and fiscal 2025, we have determined the projected non-GAAP tax rate to be 20%. Free cash flow : We define free cash flow as net cash provided by operating activities less purchases of property and equipment. We believe free cash flow is an important liquidity measure of the cash that is available (if any), after purchases of property and equipment, for operational expenses, investment in our business, and to make acquisitions. Free cash flow is useful to investors as a liquidity measure because it measures our ability to generate or use cash in excess of our capital investments in property and equipment. Once our business needs and obligations are met, cash can be used to maintain a strong balance sheet and invest in future growth. Billings : We define billings as total revenues plus the change in our contract liabilities and refund liability less contract assets and unbilled accounts receivable in a given period. Billings reflects sales to new customers plus subscription renewals and additional sales to existing customers. Only amounts invoiced to a customer in a given period are included in billings. We believe billings can be used to measure our periodic performance, when taking into consideration the timing aspects of customer renewals, which represents a large component of our business. Given that most of our customers pay in annual installments one year in advance, but we typically recognize a majority of the related revenue ratably over time, we use billings to measure and monitor our ability to provide our business with the working capital generated by upfront payments from our customers. For a reconciliation of these non-GAAP financial measures to the most directly comparable GAAP financial measure, please see "Reconciliation of GAAP to Non-GAAP Financial Measures" below. Cyclacel Pharmaceuticals Announces Its Exploration of Potential Strategic Alternatives and Reduction of Operating CostsName: Fear of God Athletics II Basketball Colorways: Night Brown/Night Brown/Night Brown and Night Brown/Night Brown/Cream White SKUs: JS0977 and JQ8482 MSRP: $180 USD and $200 USD Release Date: December 6 Where to Buy: Fear of God and adidas Update: It’s nearly time for Fear of God Athletics to drop its second performance-oriented basketball sneaker as the II Basketball gears up in mid and high-top form. The team tapped Derrick Rose to star in the shoe’s debut campaign, which sees both iterations of the shoe dressed in a fall-ready “Night Brown.” Its build, as initially described below, features an inner bootie that ensures a snug fit while resting atop a Lightstrike-backed midsole. It also utilizes a TPU shank for dynamic propulsion, as well as a multidirectional traction system delivered via the durable rubber outsole. Release takes place tomorrow, December 6, via Fear of God, adidas and select retailers at prices of $180 USD and $200 USD for the mid and high-top versions respectively. Original Story: Fear of God Athletics — the sport-focused footwear and apparel line created by Fear of God and adidas — is gearing up to release its second basketball silhouette, the aptly-named Fear of God Athletics II Basketball . Debuting in a “Night Brown” colorway and made available in both high-top and mid-cut versions, the II Basketball seems to offer an amalgamation of influences ranging from FoG founder Jerry Lorenzo ‘s past footwear design language to the bold branding of the adidas Sobakov and even (dare we say it) a sprinkling of YEEZY . Adidas Adidas Adidas Adidas Adidas Adidas Adidas Adidas Uppers offer a monochromatic brown shade, with the high-top iteration adding extra detail via a collar strap, while the mid-cut version offers a slightly sleeker look. Both sit atop thick, semi-translucent midsoles that may contain adidas cushioning technology like BOOST or Lightstrike and tie off their look with co-branded hits on the heel and toe. This new FoG Athletics model will look to both expand on the Fear of God Athletics hoops lexicon and enhance its performance bona fides as well. The label’s inagural shoe, the Fear of God Athletics I , received generally positive reviews for its design language but was panned for its on-court performance due to its weight and lack of modern performance technology. However, the follow-up has already hit the NBA hardwood via Gabe Vincent of the Los Angeles Lakers — and weekend warriors will have a shot at it when it drops this December. Stay tuned for info on an exact release date as it’s made available.
NoneFine Gael won 35 seats in the 2020 election, but 18 of those TDs did not seek re-election in Friday’s poll. An exit poll puts the party’s support at 21%, a fraction of a percentage behind the main opposition party Sinn Fein. Mr Harris, the outgoing Taoiseach, was elected with 16,869 first preference votes, well above the quota. He celebrated with his wife Caoimhe, his parents Bart and Mary, his sister Gemma and his political team at the count centre in Greystones, Co Wicklow. Ahead of his re-election, Mr Harris told reporters he was “cautiously optimistic” about the election result and said it was “clear that my party will gain seats”. “It’s also clear that Fine Gael will top the poll in at least 10 constituencies, many more than we did the last time, that we will gain seats in constituencies where we haven’t had seats in many years, like Tipperary South and Waterford, and that we will add second seats in other constituencies as well,” he said. “I think the people of Ireland have now spoken. We now have to work out exactly what they have said, and that is going to take a little bit of time.” In one of the five consecutive broadcast media rounds he did from the Greystones count centre, he said there were a lot of areas where there were “straight shoot-outs” between Fianna Fail and Fine Gael for final seats. He described the Sinn Fein vote as “pretty significantly down”, the Fianna Fail vote as “marginally down” and the Fine Gael vote as “static” compared with its 2020 vote. He said it was “a very close, a very competitive election” and that “we haven’t seen a Sinn Fein surge or anything like it”. He said: “It was predicted by many that I would become the Taoiseach for a brief period of time, take over from Leo Varadkar, and then have to rebuild my party from the opposition benches as Sinn Fein led a government. “We don’t know what’s going to happen on government formation yet, but that is now looking less likely than it was.” He acknowledged that it was “a very difficult day” for the Green Party and paid tribute to their work in the coalition government, alongside his party and Fianna Fail. “Definitely, politics in Ireland has gotten much more fragmented,” he said. Fine Gael minister Helen McEntee said that her party’s campaign had been “positive”. “The feeling on the doors was very much that people were relatively happy with the government,” she said on RTE Radio. “It will come down to the last seats and it will come down to transfers,” she said of the final result, adding that Fianna Fail and Fine Gael were performing better than the exit poll estimated.NEW YORK (AP) — A number of President-elect Donald Trump 's most prominent Cabinet picks and appointees have been targeted by bomb threats and “swatting attacks," Trump's transition team said Wednesday. The FBI said it was investigating. “Last night and this morning, several of President Trump’s Cabinet nominees and Administration appointees were targeted in violent, unAmerican threats to their lives and those who live with them," Trump transition spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said in a statement. The attacks ranged from bomb threats to swatting, in which attackers initiate an emergency law enforcement response against a target victim under false pretenses, she said. The tactic has become a popular one in recent years. Leavitt said law enforcement and other authorities acted quickly to ensure the safety of those who were targeted and Trump and his transition team are grateful. Among those targeted were New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, Trump’s pick to serve as the next ambassador to the United Nations ; Matt Gaetz, Trump’s initial pick to serve as attorney general ; Oregon Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer, whom Trump chose to lead the Department of Labor , and former New York congressman Lee Zeldin, who has been tapped to lead the Environmental Protection Agency. Law enforcement officials are also looking into whether Susie Wiles, Trump’s incoming chief of staff, and Pam Bondi, the former Florida attorney general whom Trump has chosen as Gaetz’s replacement, and other incoming administration officials were also victims — as well as how each was targeted, according to a law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity as the investigation continues. Wiles and Bondi did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The FBI said in a statement that it was “aware of numerous bomb threats and swatting incidents targeting incoming administration nominees and appointees" and was investigating with its law enforcement partners. White House spokesperson Saloni Sharma said President Joe Biden had been briefed and the White House is in touch with federal law enforcement and Trump's transition team. Biden “continues to monitor the situation closely," Sharma said, adding the president and his administration “condemn threats of political violence.” Stefanik's office said that, on Wednesday morning, she, her husband, and their 3-year-old son were driving home from Washington for Thanksgiving when they were informed of a bomb threat to their residence in Saratoga County. Police swept Stefanik’s home on Wednesday morning in response to the bomb threat but did not locate any explosive devices, New York State Police said. Zeldin said in a social media post that he and his family had also been threatened. “A pipe bomb threat targeting me and my family at our home today was sent in with a pro-Palestinian themed message,” he wrote on X . “My family and I were not home at the time and are safe." In Florida, the Okaloosa County sheriff’s office said on Facebook that it “received notification of a bomb threat referencing former Congressman Matt Gaetz’s supposed mailbox at a home in the Niceville area" Wednesday. While a family member resides at the address, the office said, Gaetz “is NOT a resident.” No threatening devices were found. Gaetz was Trump’s initial pick to serve as attorney general, but he withdrew from consideration after allegations that he paid women for sex and slept with underage women. Gaetz has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, and a Justice Department investigation into sex trafficking allegations ended with no charges against him. The threats follow a political campaign marked by disturbing and unprecedented violence. In July, a gunman opened fire at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, grazing the then-candidate in the ear with a bullet and killing one of his supporters. The Secret Service later thwarted a subsequent assassination attempt at Trump's West Palm Beach, Florida, golf course when an agent spotted the barrel of a gun poking through a perimeter fence while Trump was golfing. Trump was also the subject of an Iranian murder-for-hire plot , with a man saying he had been tasked with planning the assassination of the Republican president-elect. Also this week, authorities arrested a man they say posted videos on social media threatening to kill Trump, according to court documents. In one video posted on Nov. 13, Manuel Tamayo-Torres threatened to shoot the former president while holding what appeared to be an AR-15 style rifle, authorities said Among the other videos he posted was one from an arena in Glendale, Arizona on Aug. 23, the same day Trump held a campaign rally there, according to court papers. An attorney for Tamayo-Torres did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday. Public figures across the political spectrum have been targeted in recent years by hoax bomb threats and false reports of shootings at their homes. About a year ago the FBI responded to an uptick in such incidents at the homes of public officials, state capitols and courthouses across the country around the holidays. Many were locked down and evacuated in early January after receiving bomb threats. No explosives were found and no one was hurt. Some of those targeted last year were Georgia Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost. The judges overseeing the civil fraud case against Trump in New York and the criminal election interference case against him in Washington were both targeted earlier this year. Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith, who recently abandoned the two criminal cases he brought against Trump, was also the subject of a fake emergency call on Christmas Day last year. Earlier this year, schools, government buildings and the homes of city officials in Springfield, Ohio, received a string of hoax bomb threats after Trump falsely accused members of Springfield’s Haitian community of abducting and eating cats and dogs. And in 2022, a slew of historically Black colleges and universities nationwide were targeted with dozens of bomb threats, with the vast majority arriving during the celebration of Black History Month. The U.S. Capitol Police said in a statement Wednesday that anytime a member of Congress is the victim of a swatting' incident, “we work closely with our local and federal law enforcement partners.” The force declined to provide further details, in part to “minimize the risk of copy-cats.” Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson called the threats “dangerous and unhinged.” “This year, there was not just one but TWO assassination attempts on President Trump," he wrote on X . “Now some of his Cabinet nominees and their families are facing bomb threats.” He added: “It is not who we are in America.” ___ Richer reported from Washington. T'Vondre Sweat's rookie season has already proven the Titans 100% right and the rest of the league wrongSummary Airbus is integral to the economy and tech development in Wales through key facilities in Broughton & Newport. Broughton excels in wing manufacturing with emphasis on expanding production capabilities. Newport focuses on cybersecurity ops vital to aviation and defense, displaying advancements in digital innovation. Airbus has large establishments in Broughton and Newport and plays a major role in the economic and technological development of Wales. The company's operations in Wales are centered around two key sites: the Broughton manufacturing facility and the Newport Cyber Innovation Hub. The Broughton facility is famous for manufacturing aircraft wings, while at Newport, R&D in cybersecurity for aerospace and defense are conducted. With aircraft production rates rising to meet demand, Wales's contribution to timely and efficient wing production is critical. The role of Airbus in Wales Airbus has been an essential cog in Wales' economy for more than three decades. Its operation has a significant effect on the economy at both the regional and national level . The aircraft manufacturer is now one of the largest and most significant industrial entities in Wales, providing direct employment, supply chain, and boosting regional GDP. Innovation is central to Airbus operations in Wales. From the manufacturing line to the protection of data, the company's research and development innovations redefine what is possible in aerospace and in cyberspace. Airbus's Broughton site is one of the most technologically advanced aircraft manufacturing plants in the world, which focuses on wings production. New wings will play a key role in helping aviation achieve its net-zero goal, but there are difficulties to consider. Broughton: the heart of wing production The Broughton facility was originally created in 1939 as a shadow factory (a concealed WWII facility to protect and continue war production despite enemy bombings) to manufacture aircraft during the Second World War. It has since become one of Airbus's most important production centers. This plant is involved in the production of wings for the whole family of Airbus commercial aircraft, such as the A320, A330, A350, and A380. Situated over 700 acres and with a workforce of about 6,000, the Broughton plant is one of the largest in Wales. Wings manufactured here are shipped by Airbus Beluga aircraft to final assembly plants in Toulouse, Hamburg, and Seville. This process shows the strategic but intricate supply chain system that exists at Airbus. Over the last couple of years, Airbus has invested heavily in increasing production capacity at Broughton. In 2022, the company stated that it wants to boost the A320 family production rate to 75 per month by 2025 . This expansion is expected to generate up to 450 new positions in the facility, thus an indication of the single-aisle aircraft market growth. In addition, there has been a vast improvement in the technology in production lines. So, the production of wings has been enhanced by automation and digital manufacturing processes over the years. Consequently, the economic impact of Broughton on the economy of Wales is large. According to UK parliament , Airbus has invested over £2 billion in Broughton in the last decade. The company also has a very close relationship with local educational establishments to develop skills development and training schemes. This partnership ensures that there will be an adequate supply of human resources for the production line as well as the growth of the economy. Also, in 2020, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Airbus transformed the Broughton research site into a production line of ventilators for the health sector, according to Forces News . Fun fact: the Broughton FC, formed in 1946, is a Welsh football club known as 'The Wingmakers' . They use the Hollingsworth Group Stadium which is near Hawarden Airport and their floodlights are retractable because of the airport’s proximity. Newport: cybersecurity and digital innovation Whereas Broughton is heavily involved in actual production, Newport is critical to Airbus’s digital operations. Focusing on cybersecurity, the Newport site covers some of the biggest risks for the aviation and defense industries. As the number of cyber threats increases with the aim of disrupting aerospace infrastructure, Airbus has taken measures to safeguard data, aircraft and communication channels. Airbus set up a Cyber Innovation Hub in Newport in 2019. At the hub level, the organization collaborates with the Welsh Government and other UK defense establishments to build solutions for secure communication and encryption. The 'Ectocryp' is one of the facility’s leading inventions. It is used in government and defense communication and is believed to be the 21st-century equivalent of the Enigma machine. Ectocryp is a range of Airbus cryptographic products designed to ensure secure voice, data, and video communications up to the UK 'Top Secret' level. Newport is not simply a company asset for use exclusively by Airbus but also a valuable component of the United Kingdom’s defense system. Preserving significant aviation facilities and military indicators, the site serves the security of the country and demonstrates Wales as a cybersecurity sector leader. Airbus is very sensitive to security matters in the cyber world, especially after what happened last year. In September 2023, it suffered a data breach that exposed the information of over 3,200 vendors, including names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses, according to The Cyber Express . The cyberattack began when a computer belonging to Turkish Airlines was infected with RedLine malware, possibly as a result of downloading a pirated Microsoft .NET framework; subsequently, the attackers were able to infiltrate Airbus systems using stolen login credentials. Challenges and opportunities for Airbus in Wales In November, the UK Government revealed plans to increase funding for the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) Programme by £975 million over the next five years to help drive innovation and produce jobs in the aerospace industry, which currently provides work for many people in North Wales, according to North Wales Live . Moreover, £49 million has been earmarked for aerospace in Wales – the development of aircraft engines and helicopters and the strengthening of the UK’s position as a world leader in wings and engines on the way to net-zero aviation. According to UK Aviation News , Airbus also intended to establish a helicopter manufacturing plant in Broughton to assemble H175M helicopters, which the UK Ministry of Defence would use to replace aging Puma aircraft. Nonetheless, in August 2024, Airbus pulled out of the race, arguing that it could not meet the Ministry’s demands and achieve sustainable profitability of the proposed plant in the long run. Still, there are many opportunities available. Airbus aims to maintain its delivery target of 770 aircraft despite supply chain hurdles and its efforts to develop the next generation of environmentally friendly aircraft. These challenges could provide Wales with an opportunity to continue to be the center of aircraft production for the next several decades. Since governments and airlines are searching for solutions that are more environmentally friendly than the current aircraft, Airbus cannot avoid making changes in the production line. Wales could be involved in this transition, especially if new wing designs or sustainable aviation technology are incorporated into the Broughton site. The majority of these orders came from Riyadh Air. However, to counter the problem of production halts during the COVID-19 outbreak, Airbus has come up with several mitigation strategies such as a more diverse supply chain, thus eliminating the risk of supply chain disruption. Recently, the BBC reported that Airbus will cut 477 UK jobs as part of a plan to eliminate more than 2,000 positions worldwide by mid-2026 to improve efficiency and bring down costs in its space business. The firm recorded a 22% profit drop to £1.8bn, with a 7% sales rise to £44.5bn due to supply chain issues in order fulfillment.(Photo by Skitterphoto via Pexels) By Stephen Beech via SWNS Cleaning surfaces every two hours at airports cuts potentially deadly norovirus infections by 83%, according to a new study. Researchers found that airport restaurants had the highest risk of norovirus transmission . But frequently disinfecting surfaces, mask-wearing and antimicrobial surface coatings at the transport hubs can all help prevent the highly contagious illness - also known as the winter vomiting bug - from spreading, say scientists. Study author Professor Nan Zhang, of the Beijing University of Technology in China, said: "Norovirus causes severe vomiting and diarrhea and is responsible for about 685 million cases and 200,000 deaths each year. "The virus is primarily transmitted through surfaces and outbreaks during air travel are especially common, due to the large number of public surfaces in airports." (PLOS Computational Biology via SWNS) To investigate the risk of norovirus infection from surfaces among passengers in different zones of the airport, the research team collected real touch data from 21.3 hours of video, which captured almost 26,000 touches. They developed a model of surface transmission and simulated the risk of infection from norovirus and the effectiveness of various interventions in different airport areas. More from this section Zhang said: "The touch data showed that, without any interventions, restaurants at airports had the highest risk of norovirus transmission, with approximately 4.6 out of 51,494 travelers infected. "Disinfecting public surfaces every two hours reduced the risk of norovirus infection per visit to the airport by 83.2%. "In contrast, handwashing every two hours reduced the risk by only 2%, and mask-wearing 50% of the time reduced risk by 48.0%, because masks stop people from touching their face. CDC "Furthermore, using antimicrobial copper or copper-nickel alloy coatings for most public surfaces lowered the infection risk by 15.9% to 99.2%." He says the study, published in the journal PLOS Computational Biology , provides "crucial" insights for developing infection prevention and control strategies specifically tailored for norovirus within airport environments. Zhang noted that the data for the study was collected during the COVID-19 pandemic , so surface-touching behaviors may have been different from normal. But he said that, overall, the simulated results indicated that public surface disinfection, mask-wearing wearing and the use of antimicrobial surfaces are effective ways of controlling the spread of norovirus via surfaces. Zhang added: "Regular surface infection is much more effective than regular handwashing for blocking norovirus transmission via fomite route in airports."
