She told Harper's Bazaar: "Obviously, [being a child star] shaped me into a very different adult than some of my peers or my friends. It is just a really different childhood to have. For a while, I thought it got in the way of me connecting with people." Just before the new interview, the 'Flowers' hitmaker had done a Chinese medicine quiz, and one of the questions was about whether she felt she could easily form relationships with others. Miley wasn't exactly sure how to answer that but did recall that while she can "drop" her celebrity persona whenever she chooses, it can be difficult for others to perceive her as an ordinary person. She said: "I don't even know how to really answer that because for who I am as a person, yes, I feel like I can connect to people and I feel like I'm a friend to all. But because of how I've grown up, sometimes people make it harder. I can drop my persona really easily, but it's hard for other people to erase that part of you." The Grammy Award-winning star appeared on the hit Disney Channel series alongside her father Billy Ray Cyrus and the success of the sitcom made her a multimillionaire by her mid-teens, but she recalled that it was her mother Tish Cyrus who would often step in to discipline her. She said: "My mom said that I had to get a Nissan or Toyota just like my other siblings. She was never afraid to take my cell phone away. Even when I paid my own cell phone bill! I would always go, like, Mom, that's for kids that don't pay their own cell-phone bill. "And she's like, 'I don't care. You're not getting your phone.'"

From Paul Orude Bauchi The Northern Youth Association of Nigeria (NYAN) has commended the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun for his unwavering commitment to national security since coming on board as the police boss inmthe country. The group was reacting to the recent call by some Civil Society Organisations CSOs for Egbetokun’s s removal due to the arraignment of 119 youths from the north, amongst whom were minors. Godiya T. Adams, the National President of the group believes such a call was unnecessary in view of the commitment of the police boss to national security and unity of the country. “However, we believe IGP Egbetokun acted within his mandate to protect Nigeria’s sovereignty,” Adams argued. “No nation tolerates the flying of another nation’s flag or activities that sabotage its government and call for military takeover. “IGP Egbetokun’s actions demonstrate his dedication to upholding the law and safeguarding Nigeria’s unity. “We recognize his efforts in maintaining law and order, and we cannot allow politically motivated attacks to undermine his authority. “As an association, we are committed to promoting national unity, youth welfare, and youth inclusiveness in governance. “We stand in solidarity with IGP Egbetokun and the Nigeria Police Force, acknowledging their tireless efforts to address security challenges across the country. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s timely intervention led to the release of the detained youths. ,”We appreciate his leadership while emphasizing the importance of supporting institutions that protect Nigeria’s interests. Adams emphasised that the key reasons for the association’s support for IGP Egbwetokun include his achievements in the protection of National Sovereignty. “IGP Egbetokun’s actions ensure Nigeria’s laws and institutions are respected,” the association’s National President stated. “His prevention of Sabotage – no nation tolerates activities that undermine its government and call for military takeover and his commitment to National Unity. “IGP Egbetokun’s leadership promotes unity and stability in Nigeria. “We urge all Nigerians to join us in backing IGP Egbetokun and the Nigeria Police Force as they work towards a safer and more secure Nigeria”Paul Fletcher took many local Liberal colleagues by surprise when he announced his intention to retire from Parliament at the next election, Crikey understands. The moderate MP for the federal Sydney seat of Bradfield will cap a 15-year career which Opposition Leader Peter Dutton said was marked by "commitment and courage". Fletcher last week warned teal independent candidates were campaigning "very much in the tradition of front groups established by left-wing political operatives which are designed to lure votes away from the Liberal Party by tricking voters about their bona fides". But in a media statement on Tuesday announcing his retirement, he said it was simply a matter of giving someone else a chance: "Renewal is healthy, for people and institutions, and now is the right time to hand over the baton." Party sources who spoke to Crikey likewise tried to play down the role Fletcher's teal challenger in Bradfield, independent candidate Nicolette Boele, might have played in his decision.
