(AP) — Bryson Daily tied the American Athletic Conference record for single-season touchdowns and threw for a season-high 190 yards and a score to lift No. 25 Army to a 29-24 win over UTSA on Saturday. Army (10-1) finished the regular season 8-0 in the AAC and earned the right to host the championship game on Friday. Daily rushed for 147 yards, his academy-record ninth straight 100-yard game, and two touchdowns. Casey Larkin sealed Army’s 10th victory of the season, picking off Owen McCown at the Black Knights’ 10 with 1:14 left. “It was a great team win,” Daily said. “It was great to see the defense plays their hearts out like they’ve done all season. The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lampooned Governor Monday Okpebholo over his recent statement in what it described as a systemic plot to conceal the manipulation that tainted the governorship election held on September 21. In a statement issued through Chris Osa Nehikhare, the Publicity Secretary of Edo PDP Caretaker Committee, the opposition camp’s attention was drawn to an absurd and disappointing statement attributed to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor-select of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo. PDP observed that in the statement, Okpebholo made unfounded and exaggerated claims in a futile attempt to undermine the independent analysis conducted by the Athena Centre for Policy and Leadership, a non-partisan research organization, which reportedly revealed the events that occurred during the last governorship election. According to PDP, the analysis, supported by irrefutable evidence and data, clearly illustrated the systematic rigging orchestrated by the electoral authority, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to benefit the APC. PDP also alleged that Governor Okpebholo was instead selected and not duly elected. The opposition party admonished the incumbent Governor of Edo State to focus on whatever he was selected to do instead of his lamentation and threats, which,h according to them, now make him sound like a broken record. “His moaning and obsession with the last PDP government is daily resembling that of a jilted lover,” PDP said. The new Mahayuti government, which swept to power with a landslide victory in the recent assembly elections, will be sworn in at a grand event in Mumbai on December 5. The swearing-in will take place even as the standoff between the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over sharing of power in the government is yet to be resolved. All eyes are on Shinde, who has kept everyone, including the BJP, guessing about his next move. The swearing-in ceremony, to be held at Azad Maidan, will take place in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The announcement was made by state BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule on social media. There is no formal announcement on the chief minister-designate yet.
