New Delhi: Following BJP's decisive victory in Maharashtra, the party intends to adopt comparable tactics in Delhi. BJP's Delhi manifesto will feature various welfare programmes, with plans to introduce a direct cash transfer scheme for women , similar to the successful initiative in Maharashtra that is largely credited for the Mahayuti alliance's triumph there. IPL 2025 mega auction IPL Auction 2025: Who got whom IPL 2025 Auction: Updated Full Team Squads The Mahayuti govt launched the Ladki Behna Yojana in June 2023, providing monthly financial support to underprivileged women. The scheme offers Rs 1,500 monthly to qualifying women aged 21-65 years with annual family earnings below Rs 2.5 lakh. The scheme permits one unmarried woman per household to participate. A high-ranking BJP official indicated that their manifesto committee would develop a direct cash transfer scheme specifically designed for women. He said that there could be some cap on it, but it is still at the formation stage. He said that the strategy for Delhi draws from their recent success, incorporating welfare schemes that proved effective in the Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh assembly elections. The party aims to implement women-focused programmes as a key electoral promise, he said. AAP govt in its 2024-25 budget also proposed the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana, which awaits implementation. The govt has allocated Rs 2,000 crore for women's welfare through this scheme. It promises Rs 1,000 monthly to Delhi's female voters above 18 years who neither pay taxes nor receive other govt benefits. However, this programme is yet to see the light of day, but AAP will push for it ahead of polls. AAP won a whopping 67 (2015) and 62 seats (2020) in the last two state polls. The upcoming election, however, presents significant hurdles as BJP is targeting issues like Yamuna cleaning, the condition of roads and the allegedly expensive renovation of the CM's official residence at Flag Staff Road. Another BJP functionary said that the party was also working on job security, wage revision and scholarships for students. "A large section of people works in unorganised sectors and complain of lack of job security and the lack of minimum wages. Those who work in the govt sector also complain of regularisation of contractual jobs not being undertaken." He said the party, in its announcements ahead of polls as well as in its manifesto, would address all these concerns.
