All eyes will be on the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon as Ruben Amorim looks for a statement result in his first taste of the all-Manchester clash. The Portuguese has already masterminded a victory against City in the last six weeks after Sporting Lisbon sealed a stunning 4-1 Champions League triumph in his penultimate match before joining United. It is among seven defeats Pep Guardiola’s stumbling side have suffered in a 10-game run that has seen just one win, but Fernandes brushed aside the suggestion that this is a good time to be facing them. Ruben Amorim will get his first taste of the Manchester derby this weekend (John Walton/PA) “It doesn’t change anything for us, how they are in this moment, because we have to think about ourselves,” the United skipper said. “We all know that this is a huge game and they have huge players. They’re probably not winning as much as everyone would expect them to do. “But we have to focus on ourselves because we’re not being at the level we want to be also, so we can’t think about the momentum of the others. “We just have to think about ourselves and do the job we have to do to get in better positions and we need points in the league, so it doesn’t matter who we play against. “We know it’s City, a huge derby. We know what it means for the fans and it means a lot for us too, so we just have to go to the game and win without thinking who we have ahead.” United make the trip to City buoyed by Thursday’s 2-1 comeback win at Viktoria Plzen, where substitute Rasmus Hojlund’s double sealed a much-needed Europa League victory. Amorim’s changes helped overcome a poor start in the Czech Republic but a giant step-up is needed if United are to seal a first win at the Etihad Stadium since 2021. “It’s not to get the results at the Etihad, it is to try to win games,” Fernandes said. “That’s what we want to improve. “Obviously we play City and we want to win the game and it doesn’t matter if it was another game, we will try to win in the same way. We know, as I said, they have great players. “It doesn’t matter the momentum they are in. We have to think about ourselves, what we can do to hurt them to win the game, and that’s all.” Fernandes says beating City “wouldn’t change anything” at United beyond securing a much-needed three points as they seek to climb the standings. Amorim’s men enter the weekend 13th in the Premier League and are looking to avoid a third straight top-flight defeat after the 2-0 reverse at Arsenal was followed by a 3-2 home loss to Nottingham Forest. “You always make progress and then you can watch that on the results,” Fernandes said. “Obviously we want to get results and I think for the outside world, the results are the ones that show that if you improve or not. “But we have to think about what we want to do as a team, what we want to have as a system, the impact that we want to have in games, the way we want to play, and that has to be the main thing in our minds and obviously you play for a club that has to win every game.”
CHICAGO — Seahawks starting running back Kenneth Walker III will miss the final two games of the regular season after the team announced Thursday it has placed him on injured reserve. The team made the announcement hours before its game Thursday night against the Bears in Chicago. The Druze-majority city in Syria's south has been a focal point of renewed anti-government demonstrations over the past year and a half. On Friday, residents waved Syria's pre-Assad flag of white, green and black with three stars, and raised olive branches in a sign of peace. Some of them have lost family members during the anti-government uprising that began in 2011 and spiralled into civil war. Others, like Hinnawi, had languished in prison under the Assad family's five-decade rule. "It was a dream," said 77-year-old Hinnawi of Assad's ouster. Decades ago, a few years after Hafez al-Assad seized power -- which he later handed over to his son Bashar -- a 23-year-old Hinnawi was jailed. He was released 17 years later. The grey-haired man said he had "dreamed that one day the regime would fall", but did not believe that he would live to see the day. "It's a wonderful sight. Nobody could have imagined that this could happen", he said. But his joy was incomplete, remembering the many who have died in jail. "I wish that those who died when I was imprisoned in Mazzeh or Saydnaya could see this scene," said Hinnawi. Since Assad's fall, rebel forces and residents have broken into both detention centres, freeing political prisoners and searching for long-missing loved ones. Activists and rights groups say the Assad government tortured and abused inmates at both facilities. "I got out when I was 40, I missed out of my whole life," said Hinnawi, who served in the Syrian army before being jailed. Recalling torture behind bars, he said that "no oppressor in history has done what they did to us." Since Sunday, the ousted government's security forces were nowhere to be seen in Sweida, and the office of Assad's Baath party has been abandoned, as have army checkpoints on the road to Damascus. Local armed men are present, but not the Islamist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham which spearheaded the rebel offensive against Assad. Siham Zein al-Din, who lost her son in 2014 after he defected from the national army to join rebel fighters, said he had "sacrificed his life... for freedom, for dignity". The family was still searching for Khaldun's remains, said his 60-year-old mother. Like her son, some members of the Druze community took up arms against Assad's forces during the war. The Druze, who also live in Lebanon, Israel and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, make up about three percent of Syria's population, around 700,000 people. Beyond defending themselves from attacks in the areas where they live, Syria's Druze largely stayed on the sidelines of the civil war. Many managed to avoid compulsory conscription since 2011. Residents of Sweida have long complained of discrimination and the lack of basic services. Many buildings in the city are constructed from black volcanic stone that can be found in the area, and its roads have fallen into disrepair. Sheikh Marwan Hussein Rizk, a religious leader, said that "Sweida province has been marginalised" for decades, with most of its residents living in poverty. But, surrounded by the joyful protesters, Rizk said better days may be coming. "Today, we look to the future and ask for a helping hand... Our hand is extended to all Syrians." Next to him, resident Hussein Bondok held up a poster of his brother Nasser, a journalist and opposition activist who was last heard from in 2014 when he was arrested. Bondok, 54, said he believes his brother was likely killed under torture in one of Damascus's prisons. Nasser struggled for freedom, Bondok said. "I want to congratulate him now, because the seeds he had planted with his brothers-in-arms has become a tree." lk/ami/it
Pornhub is not a pornography website, but a social media platform, legally speaking. That is the company’s view, at least, and the basis on which it says it does not have to meet a January deadline for age verification. Instead of being “providers of pornographic content published or displayed on the service,” the company says the rules that apply to it are those for social media and search engines, since it publishes content provided by users. The Age Verification Provider’s Association ( ) specifically warned Ofcom earlier in the year that this would happen, notes, but the regulator says websites must determine for themselves which section of the applies to the them. What form will take is uncertain, as the company has where it would have been obligated to implement age checks. Facial biometric age estimation and ID document uploads are among the options. Whatever the site chooses is now expected to be introduced in July, along with age checks by other online service providers that fall under “part 3.” A Spain-based pornography site operated by TechPump is the first in the country to implement age verification, according to an announcement from , which is supplying digital identity wallets to perform the verification. Gataca’s digital identity wallet is offered for free to consumers, and enables them to prove their age without sharing their identity or date of birth. The company says this protects minors from access to potentially harmful content, while preserving the anonymity of users. Gataca provides decentralized and self-sovereign identity (SSI) technologies, and launched its age verification solution in September. Users are issued a credential stating that they are 18 or 21 years old, and another that corresponds with a verified identity document. The process is managed by Gataca, and the adult website is not involved until the age assurance check is performed. The company says its digital ID wallet has been approved by the Spanish Data protection Agency (AEPD) for age data processing, and the age assurance method complies with the EU’s . | | | | | | | | |$36 million coming to WNY to fund environmental projects

( ) is one of those classic your grandpa would swear by, and honestly, he’s not wrong. The company has been around for over a century, pays a steady dividend, and has less volatility than the broader market. It’s the definition of a “sleep-well-at-night” stock. That said, you shouldn’t base your investment decisions on nostalgia alone. Before you buy, here are three essential things you need to know about Coca-Cola stock. The Coca-Cola system What keeps Coca-Cola running strong after more than a century is its unique business model, famously called the “Coca-Cola system.” Here’s how it works. The Coca-Cola Company focuses on marketing, manufacturing, and selling two core products: beverage concentrates and syrups, as well as finished beverages. These concentrates and syrups are sold to authorized bottling partners, who are the real muscle behind Coca-Cola’s global reach. Each territory typically has a major bottling partner with exclusive contracts. These partners mix the concentrates with water and sweeteners, then package, sell, and distribute the beverages to retailers. Coca-Cola’s Bottling Investment Group also provides support where needed. This setup is a key reason behind Coca-Cola’s impressive profitability. The company’s profit margin sits at 22.45%, and its operating margin is 30.24%. Contrast this with usual low-margin retailers. By focusing on high-margin concentrate production and outsourcing the capital-intensive bottling and distribution, Coca-Cola achieves efficiency and resilience. Even in challenging economic conditions, the system allows the company to maintain its global presence and competitive edge. Shareholder-friendly policies Besides steadily growing earnings by selling more drinks in more and more geographies, Coca-Cola also prioritizes returning capital to its shareholders in two major ways: dividends and share splits. As of December 11, Coca-Cola currently offers a 3.08% dividend yield with a 79.46% payout ratio. While the yield itself is attractive, it’s the growth trajectory that stands out. Coca-Cola has increased its dividend every year for 62 consecutive years, earning its place as a Dividend King. This means shareholders have enjoyed not only consistent income but also rising payouts year after year. On top of dividends, Coca-Cola has a long history of stock splits. Whenever its share price gets too high, the company opts for splits to make the stock more accessible to retail investors. In fact, Coca-Cola has split its shares 11 times since it went public. To put that in perspective, a single share purchased in 1919 would have grown into 9,216 shares by 2012. Lower volatility On average, Coca-Cola’s share price fluctuates less than the broader market. It has a five-year beta of 0.62, compared to the market’s beta of one. This means that historically, Coca-Cola’s stock has been 38% less volatile than the overall market. For example, if the market moves up or down by 1%, Coca-Cola’s stock would typically move by about 0.62%. Coca-Cola’s lower beta stems from a combination of factors. Its earnings are remarkably consistent, thanks to steady revenue from beverage sales worldwide, which remain in demand regardless of economic conditions. High profit and operating margins also provide a financial buffer, ensuring the company remains profitable even during economic downturns. Additionally, Coca-Cola’s focus on durable consumer staples—products that people purchase regularly—across multiple geographic markets contributes to its stability. Together, these elements help Coca-Cola maintain less-volatile stock performance than the broader market. If you want lower risk yet solid total returns, Coca-Cola might be the right stock for you.Social media users are misrepresenting a report released Thursday by the Justice Department inspector general's office, falsely claiming that it's proof the FBI orchestrated the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021. The watchdog report examined a number of areas, including whether major intelligence failures preceded the riot and whether the FBI in some way provoked the violence. Claims spreading online focus on the report's finding that 26 FBI informants were in Washington for election-related protests on Jan. 6, including three who had been tasked with traveling to the city to report on others who were potentially planning to attend the events. For a big game against one of the best teams in the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers are down a starting safety. Good thing they have a couple in reserve. DeShon Elliott is out for Sunday’s game at the Philadelphia Eagles because of a hamstring injury, it was announced Friday. That Elliott plays 86% of the Steelers’ defensive snaps portends a potential problem. But the Steelers have a pair of defensive backs who have been longtime starters in the NFL and extensive experience doing so for the Steelers in Cameron Sutton and Damontae Kazee. “When a guy does go down in our secondary, it is comforting to know we have played a lot of ball with the next man up,” safety Minkah Fitzpatrick said. “So there is not a lot of communication (and) no lack of trust there.” A free-agent signee in the offseason, Elliott quickly assimilated with the Steelers defense in general and at safety next to perennial All-Pro Fitzpatrick in particular. But as recently as last year (as well as the second half of the 2022 season), that was Kazee’s role. Sutton, meanwhile, spent his first six seasons with the Steelers before joining the Detroit Lions last season. But Sutton is back and now playing a versatile role that allows him to plug in at various spots in the secondary. In that sense, a situation such as this week with an injury to a starter is precisely why Sutton was re-acquired. “When they say ‘(No.) 20, (go) in,’ or when certain personnel packages (are deployed), I will be ready, Sutton said. “Ready for whatever it is.“ As Kazee explained it, in this era of subpackage specialization, the Steelers have packages built for Elliott, for Kazee, for Sutton and for all three at once and combinations of two of them to line up along with Fitzpatrick. It’s not as if replacing Elliott is as simple as just tapping the “next man up” on the shoulder at strong safety. Across the Steelers secondary, most of the players all play different positions. According to Pro Football Focus, Elliott averages 10-20 snaps a game each at in-the-box safety, free safety and slot/nickel. But Sutton frequently plays multiple snaps each game at those spots, too. And Kazee over his first two seasons with the Steelers averaged more than 10 snaps per game combined lined up at areas other than his given position of free safety. “We prepare ourselves. We’re vets,” Kazee said. “It won’t be much different (without Elliott) than what we’ve saw in games the last few years. It’s not like we haven’t got reps in games. It’s not like we are going in blindfolded. “We are gonna give them a lot of looks out there. It’ll be a little different out there (for the Eagles) this week. But we are going to enjoy it.” Elliott has 62 starts in six NFL seasons. But Kazee, 31, is an eight-year NFL veteran of 103 games and 62 starts. Sutton, 29, is an eight-year NFL veteran of 106 games and 57 starts. “We’ve got a second team here that could also go and start somewhere else,” Kazee said. Not only is the deep Steelers corps of defensive backs experienced in the league, they are experienced in the system. Sutton (seven seasons) and Kazee (three) have spent plenty of time executing the scheme of coordinator Teryl Austin and working next to Fitzpatrick. “We have guys we have who have played a lot and a long time and spent a lot of years in the system, too. It makes it easy,” Sutton said. “We have played different positions in the system. We have capable guys who can be interchangeable, and that helps in the ‘next man up’ mentality.”What the Options Market Tells Us About ChevronHow will Donald Trump handle the war in Ukraine?

The team said Thursday that additional exams revealed enough damage to keep Lamb off the field Sunday at Philadelphia and in the final game at home against Washington. The team said surgery was not expected to be required. Dallas was eliminated from playoff contention a few hours before last weekend's 26-24 victory over Tampa Bay . The decision on Lamb means the Cowboys will finish the regular season with at least five former Pro Bowlers on injured reserve. Among the others are quarterback Dak Prescott, who was limited to eight games before a season-ending hamstring tear, and right guard Zack Martin. The seven-time All-Pro made it through 10 games before deciding on season-ending ankle surgery. Defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence didn't playing after Week 4 because of a foot injury, and cornerback Trevon Diggs battled a variety of injuries while playing 11 games before a knee injury ended his season. Lamb initially injured his right shoulder when it hit the turf hard twice in a 27-21 loss at Atlanta on Nov. 3. He kept playing and had at least 100 yards in each of his last two games — both victories — before getting shut down. The 25-year-old Lamb sat out the entire offseason and preseason in a contract dispute after getting career highs in catches (an NFL-best 135), yards receiving (club-record 1,749) and touchdowns (12) in 2023. The holdout finally ended with a $136 million, four-year extension in late August, but neither the Cowboys nor their star receiver could get that production going again this season. Dallas (7-8) is missing the playoffs for the first time since 2020, Lamb's rookie year. Lamb finishes the season with 101 catches for 1,194 yards and six TDs. AP NFL: https://apnews.com/NFLRICHMOND — He boasts that he can ring up Snoop Dogg on speed dial. Samuel L. Jackson depicted him in a Hollywood blockbuster. He commands speaking fees in all corners of the country, carrying trading cards and copies of his own book that he autographs for anyone who asks (and even some who don’t). And on Thursday night, Ken Carter was one of about two dozen people inside a basketball gym, where the only signs a game was taking place were the squeaks of sneakers and four buzzers to signal the end of each quarter. The stands were empty. There was no band, no students but for a few stragglers on their cell phones. Coach Carter is . Now 65, a grandfather and 25 years removed from the 1999 season depicted in the 2005 box-office hit, he faces a distinctly different challenge this time around. Look no further than the final score in his first game back on the bench, a 55-31 loss to a seven-player team from a small private Oakland academy. “Back in the day, the stands were full. I mean, totally full,” Carter said. “But I guarantee by our sixth game, we’re going to have this place full.” It was the Oilers’ fourth game of the season and their fourth loss. Carter had other engagements that prevented him from attending the previous three, forcing them to forfeit twice, and at first glance, he didn’t appear to be there Thursday, either. In his initial run with the program, from 1997-2002, Carter gained a reputation for wearing a suit and tie on game days and requiring his players to do the same. It was one of a number of rules set forth, as well as maintaining at least a 2.3 GPA, in a contract he had all of his players sign. Things have changed, and so has Carter’s wardrobe, which featured a navy blue, school-branded sweatsuit and unlaced white sneakers. He pledged to turn boys into men when he took over the program the first time around. Now, it’s about turning boys into basketball players. Back then, he inherited a team that had 45 players to fill out varsity, JV and freshman rosters. The team he took over this fall has 10 members, most of whom were struggling to fill out their jerseys. “Our kids are undersized, some of them their first year ever playing basketball,” Carter said. “I enjoy coaching here now more than I ever did, with the kids and their attitudes. The attitude of the kids is just wonderful. ... We have no problems academically. We’re just physically not a big team. But I think that’s going to change next year. I think we’re going to be pretty good next year.” Richmond has cycled through four coaches the past four years while posting one winning season, including a 1-21 finish last year while being outscored by an average of 48.5 points per game. Senior Jayden Briscoe said he believes Carter, a star player at Richmond in the 1970s, is dedicated to rebuilding the program. While it was Carter’s first time on the sidelines for a game, he has been coaching the team through practice all summer. “He makes us work a lot harder,” Briscoe said. “The other coaches, no hate to them, but their practices were a lot different. It’s a different work ethic. Carter, he’ll have us (scheduled to) practice for two hours and we’ll end up being there for four hours. The other coaches, it would be an hour and 30 minutes.” Carter plans to put his own resources into the program and hopes that his name recognition can prevent some of the area’s most talented players from opting for private school, such as Salesian, the private power just down the road that qualified for the state Open Division tournament. “There’s not a college coach in America that I can’t call that’s not going to return my call,” he said. The setting that inspired the film, where he returned Thursday night, couldn’t feel further from the bright lights of Hollywood. No player on the court had been born when the movie was released. But Carter clearly still carried weight with the current generation. Related Articles “I wanted to see him so bad,” said Irvelle Winchester, a freshman guard for the opposing Envision Academy. “It was something that was local, so I liked the movie a lot. I didn’t know who he was until I watched it, but I was like, ‘Dang.’ How he turned a trash team into a good team. I lowkey look up to him.” After one physical play, Winchester fell to the floor and Carter jumped from his seat on the bench to go check on him. Afterward, Carter stuck around to take photos, sign autographs and chat with the entire opposing team and its coaches. After the handshake line, he made a beeline for the parking lot and returned with a stack of cards that he signed and passed around, along with a few copies of his book. “I’m one of the so-called celebrities that you can touch,” he said. “People ask me, ‘Why did I return to Richmond?’ First of all, it was just the love of Richmond. I’d like to see this school be extremely successful. Now I have a Rolodex of resources, so we can get things done. ... This completes the circle.”
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — President-elect Donald Trump said Wednesday that he has chosen Keith Kellogg, a highly decorated retired three-star general, to serve as his special envoy for Ukraine and Russia. Kellogg, who is one of the architects of a staunchly conservative policy book that lays out an “America First” national security agenda for the incoming administration, will come into the role as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine enters its third year in February. Trump, making the announcement on his Truth Social account, said, “He was with me right from the beginning! Together, we will secure PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH, and Make America, and the World, SAFE AGAIN!” Kellogg, an 80-year-old retired Army lieutenant general who has long been Trump’s top adviser on defense issues, served as national security adviser to Vice President Mike Pence , was chief of staff of the National Security Council and then stepped in as an acting security adviser for Trump after Michael Flynn resigned. As special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Kellogg will have to navigate an increasingly untenable war between the two nations. The Biden administration has begun urging Ukraine to quickly increase the size of its military by drafting more troops and revamping its mobilization laws to allow for the conscription of those as young as 18. The White House has pushed more than $56 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since the start of Russia’s February 2022 invasion and expects to send billions more before Biden leaves office in less than two months. The U.S. has recently stepped up weapons shipments and has forgiven billions in loans provided to Kyiv. Trump has criticized the billions the Biden administration has spent in supporting Ukraine and has said he could end the war in 24 hours, comments that appear to suggest he would press Ukraine to surrender territory that Russia now occupies. As a co-chairman of the American First Policy Institute’s Center for American Security, Kellogg wrote several of the chapters in the group’s policy book. The book, like the Heritage Foundation’s “Project 2025,” is designed to lay out a Trump national security agenda and avoid the mistakes of 2016 when he entered the White House largely unprepared. Kellogg in April wrote that “bringing the Russia-Ukraine war to a close will require strong, America First leadership to deliver a peace deal and immediately end the hostilities between the two warring parties.” Trump's proposed national security adviser , U.S. Rep. Michael Waltz of Florida, tweeted Wednesday that “Keith has dedicated his life to defending our great country and is committed to bringing the war in Ukraine to a peaceful resolution.” Kellogg featured in multiple Trump investigations dating to his first term. He was among the administration officials who listened in on the July 2019 call between Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy in which Trump prodded his Ukrainian counterpart to pursue investigations into the Bidens. The call, which Kellogg would later say did not raise any concerns on his end, was at the center of the first of two House impeachment cases against Trump, who was acquitted by the Senate both times. On Jan. 6, 2021, hours before pro-Trump rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol, Kellogg, who was then Pence’s national security adviser, listened in on a heated call in which Trump told his vice president to object or delay the certification in Congress of President Joe Biden ’s victory. He later told House investigators that he recalled Trump saying to Pence words to the effect of: “You’re not tough enough to make the call.” Baldor reported from Washington. Nissan and Honda agreed to a merger. Will their cars get cheaper in Canada?Vanderpump Rules celeb James Kennedy has pledged to turn over a new leaf following his recent arrest on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence. The 32-year-old Vanderpump Rules personality found himself in hot water after cops responded to a late-night call about a couple's dispute on Tuesday, December 10. Following his release on bail, the reality star —real name James Kennedy Georgiou—took to Instagram to declare his intention to reform, stating: "I am committed to making meaningful changes in my life. I am taking time to focus on my sobriety, personal growth, and being present for my loved ones. Navigating challenging moments is not easy, but I am determined to learn, grow, and move forward." Ally Lewber breaks silence after boyfriend James Kennedy's arrest over alleged domestic abuse Vanderpump Rules finally gets a new update on future of show after summer's axe Earlier, a Burbank Police Department representative informed The Hollywood Reporter: "On December 10, 2024, at about 11:30 pm, Burbank Police were dispatched to a residence regarding an argument between a man and a woman. The investigation determined it was a domestic incident, leading to Mr. Georgiou's arrest." The spokesperson added: "Mr. Georgiou was booked for misdemeanor domestic violence and later posted bail. Formal charges are pending review by the Burbank City Attorney's office." Currently, it is understood that Kennedy has not faced any charges as the formal charges are under review - a representative for the celebrity has been approached for additional commentary. Kennedy has been a part of the Bravo series since its second season started in 2013, reports the Mirror . Reports earlier this year indicated that the entire cast, except for lead star Lisa Vanderpump, would be replaced for the upcoming 12th season. Kennedy is romantically involved with his Vanderpump Rules co-star Ally Lewber and has had past connections with other women from the show. In an Instagram post on Saturday, Lewber expressed her gratitude for the support she received, stating, "Thank you to everyone who has reached out with love and support and for checking in on me. I'm okay and taking the time I need right now." Kristen Doute, an ex-girlfriend of Kennedy from 2013 to 2015, drew attention with her reaction to his arrest news earlier this month. She reposted a news article about his arrest on social media with a succinct caption to the headline, simply writing: "Finally". The Vanderpump Rules crew is reeling from the recent arrest of James Kennedy on domestic violence charges. Rachel Leviss, his ex-girlfriend and one-time fiancée, didn't hold back her thoughts through her legal team. A statement released to the Daily Mail by attorneys Mark Geragos and Bryan Freedman read: "We are aware of James Kennedy's recent arrest for domestic violence. This news is, unfortunately, not surprising." The Mirror has reached out to Kennedy's rep for a statement.
