The company said Tuesday that plane-building resumed at its plant in Renton, Washington, after going through a process of training workers and identifying and fixing potential problems. Boeing shares rose 4.5%, their best single-day percentage gain in nearly four months. Production and deliveries of Max jets and another airline plane, the 787 Dreamliner, have been stopped several times in recent years to fix manufacturing flaws. “Our team has worked methodically to restart factory operations in the Pacific Northwest. We have now resumed 737 production in our Renton factory, with our Everett (Washington) programs on plan to follow in the days ahead,” the company said in a statement. Boeing builds its 777 and 767 jets in Everett, north of Seattle. Separately, the company said it took orders for 49 planes in November but lost an order by U.K. carrier TUI for 14 Max jets. It delivered 13 planes, down from 56 a year earlier. Ever since a panel called a door plug blew off a Max operated by Alaska Airlines in January, the Federal Aviation Administration has capped Boeing’s production of Max jets to 38 per month. Boeing hopes to convince regulators that it has corrected quality and safety issues and can raise that number to 56 planes per month. Boeing has been losing money since 2019, after two Max jets crashed, killing 346 people. It needs the cash it earns from delivering new planes to begin digging out of a deep financial hole. New CEO Kelly Ortberg has announced plans to lay off about 17,000 workers and sell new stock to raise cash and prevent the company’s credit rating from sliding into junk status.

BOGOTÁ, Colombia — One of Colombia’s legendary drug lords and a key operator of the Medellin cartel has been deported back to the South American country, after serving 25 years of a 30-year prison sentence in the United States. A short while later, Fabio Ochoa was again a free man. Ochoa arrived in Bogotá on a deportation flight on Monday afternoon, wearing a modest gray sweatshirt and carrying his personal belongings in a plastic bag. After stepping off the plane, Ochoa was met by immigration officials in bulletproof vests. There were no police on site to detain him. Immigration officials took his fingerprints and confirmed through a database that Ochoa is not wanted by Colombian authorities. The country’s immigration agency said on the social media platform X that Ochoa was “freed so that he could join his family.” “I was framed,” Ochoa claimed as reporters at Bogotá’s El Dorado Airport asked if he regretted his actions. The former cartel boss smiled as he hugged his daughter, whom he had not seen in seven years, and said he would go to Medellin to live with his family. “The nightmare is over,” said Ochoa, 67. Ochoa and his older brothers amassed a fortune when cocaine started flooding the U.S. in the late 1970s and early ’80s, according to U.S. authorities, to the point that in 1987 they were included in Forbes Magazine’s list of billionaires. Living in Miami, Ochoa ran a distribution center for the cocaine cartel once headed by Pablo Escobar. Escobar died in a shootout with authorities in Medellin in 1993. Ochoa was first indicted in the U.S. for his alleged role in the 1986 killing of Barry Seal, an American pilot who flew cocaine flights for the Medellin cartel but became an informant for the Drug Enforcement Administration. Along with his two older brothers, Juan David and Jorge Luis, Ochoa turned himself in to Colombian authorities in the early 1990s under a deal in which they avoided being extradited to the U.S. The three brothers were released from prison in 1996, but Ochoa was arrested again three years later for drug trafficking and was extradited to the U.S. in 2001 in response to an indictment in Miami naming him and more than 40 people as part of a drug-smuggling conspiracy. Ochoa was the only suspect in that group who opted to go to trial, resulting in his conviction and a 30-year sentence. The other defendants got much lighter prison terms because most of them cooperated with the government. Ochoa’s name has faded from popular memory as Mexican drug traffickers take center stage in the global drug trade. But the former member of the Medellin cartel was depicted in the recent Netflix series “Griselda,” where he first fights plucky businesswoman Griselda Blanco for control of Miami’s cocaine market and then makes an alliance with the drug trafficker, played by Sofia Vergara. Ochoa also is depicted in the Netflix series “Narcos,” as the youngest son of an elite Medellin family that is into ranching and horse breeding and cuts a sharp contrast with Escobar, who came from more humble roots. Richard Gregorie, a retired assistant U.S. attorney who was on the prosecution team that convicted Ochoa, said authorities were never able to seize all of the Ochoa family’s illicit drug proceeds and he expects that the former mob boss will be welcomed home. “He won’t be retiring a poor man, that’s for sure,” Gregorie told the Associated Press earlier this month.NMB Team Attends MAC Conference In Panama

A woman who spent 40 years behind bars for her husband’s 1984 murder has been released from prison just in time to spend Christmas with her family. Patty Prewitt, the longest-serving female prisoner in Missouri , was among the nine people whose sentences were commuted by Missouri Governor Mike Parson on Friday. “I am so grateful to be home with my family for Christmas,” she said in a statement following her release. “Thank you to Governor Mike Parson and to all the people who have supported me over the years.” Prewitt, who is now a 75-year-old grandmother, had been serving a life sentence for the February 18, 1984 murder of her husband, William “Bill” Edward Prewitt, as he slept in their home in the rural Missouri town of Holden. The murder shocked the small community who knew the pair as an “all-American couple,” according to previous reporting by The Kansas City Star. Prewitt claimed an intruder broke into their home and attacked them while they were sleeping. She said her husband, who was 35, was shot and she was attacked with a knife. But at the time, investigators said there was no sign of forced entry and turned their attention to Prewitt as a suspect. The murder weapon was found in a pond on the couple’s property and investigators believed a boot print found in the pond bed matched boots belonging to Patty Prewitt. At the trial, prosecutors claimed that Prewitt tried to dispose of the gun by throwing it into a pond but when it got stuck, she waded into the water and pushed it down with her boot. Prewitt declined a plea deal that would have given her the chance for parole after five to seven years. Instead she was sentenced to life in prison and became the state’s longest-serving female prisoner. The mother of five has maintained her innocence and for years, while lawyers and advocates have criticized the case, and blamed an inadequate investigation and flawed trial for her imprisonment. Prewitt filed multiple clemency requests over the years, with support from her family, including their five children, who claimed she was wrongfully convicted and fiercely advocated for her release. A website advocating for her clemency claimed investigators ignored credible leads pointing to an intruder and failed to collect key evidence that could have identified a person who Prewitt says assaulted her and murdered her husband. Prewitt was freed on Friday, the Associated Press reported, and is enjoying the holiday with her family, according to posts on social media. The commuted sentence for Prewitt does not pardon her of the murder conviction, but grants her release on parole, it was reported. Her case was among nine commutations and also 16 pardons by the governor Friday, including Eric DeValkenaere, the former Kansas City police detective convicted in 2021 of involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of Cameron Lamb, a Black man, in December 2019.Trump names Andrew Ferguson as head of Federal Trade Commission to replace Lina KhanChristmas in post-Assad Syria tainted by fears for minority's future

Viewers of The 1% Club were puzzled by a question in the latest episode, sparking claims of an error. Lee Mack returned to host another session of the hit quiz show The 1% Club, which has gripped audiences all week. However, this time, a particular question threw viewers into confusion, inciting some to believe the given answer was incorrect. The baffling question posed by Lee Mack concerned the identification of six symbols that maintain their order whether read from left to right or vice versa. Out of five potential answers, 'C' was declared correct. The audience's confusion over the response turned to social media, with comments expressing bewilderment and skepticism regarding 'C' being the right answer, with many firmly asserting it should be 'A'. One wrote: "Baffled! I didn't understand this one at all," with another adding: "Can someone please explain how it's C?" as another said: "I said A and I still think A. I don't understand how it's not." Discussions spurred on by the contentious choice included one viewer stating, "This is a trick question, A or C could be correct depending on the definition of right to left used," while another simply sought clarification: "I thought it was A. C isn't in the same order. Explain, please, someone?" One helpful fan attempted to demystify the conundrum by explaining: "Because it's how you read it. I thought it was A, too, but it starts as a Closed bracket, whereas C starts the same as the end. I hope that explains it." One viewer added: "It's not about being mirrored; it's about what symbol is what. So A would be (from L-R): left bracket, right bracket, left bracket etc, but R-L it would be; right bracket, left bracket etc. which is difference. Whereas C is left arrow-right arrow-right arrow etc from both ends!" Meanwhile, another explained: "It is.. first one is pointing left, then 4 in the middle are pointing right, then last one is pointing left. Same applies if you start from the other side and go backwards." During tonight's thrilling instalment of the quiz show, a fortunate group of contestants walked away with a share of £97,000 as they nailed the final question. The host, Lee, couldnt hide his excitement for the four winners, while tragically two competitors missed out on the jackpot by tripping up over the tricky 1 percent question. *The 1% Club airs on ITV1 and ITVX.

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — Huldah Momanyi-Hiltsley is the first Kenyan-born state legislator in the country. The Democrat is set to represent Osseo and parts of Brooklyn Park. “IT’S OVERWHELMING AND HUMBLING“ - This newly elected state representative is making NATIONWIDE history - Huldah... Momanyi-Hiltsley says her dream of becoming a U.S. citizen almost didn't happen. "We were literally 48 hours from being deported from this country," said Momanyi-Hiltsley. She moved to Minnesota at the age of nine — her family making the over 8,000-mile journey from Nyamira County in Kenya. But after 11 years working through the U.S. immigration system, it was a last-minute intervention by then-Senator Paul Wellstone that made the difference. "Our case was then able to be overturned and I couldn't have imagined I would be sitting here, doing an interview, 22+ years later as the newly elected representative for this district," said Momanyi-Hiltsley. The district covering Brooklyn Park and Osseo in the Minnesota House holds a special place for Momanyi-Hiltsley. It's an area she considers another home after attending Cooper High School in nearby New Hope. But the news of her election win is leading to high-profile invites in her home country. "They have invited me to go with my family for a homecoming celebration," she said. "There's a possibility of even meeting the president of Kenya and the first lady for a state visit." The win here in Minnesota is also generating a sense of pride or "kiburi" in Swahili for those in Kenya. "We belive in her," said Duke Maigna Echate, who grew up with her in Kenya. "We are going to support her both spiritually and socially." A support system that this wife and mother of two says led her own American dream. "I sit here as a testament for what this country stands for and the freedoms," Momanyi-Hiltsley added. We always knew when we had kids that we would move back to Bunbury — we both had amazing, adventurous childhoods, were able to walk to school and of course had lots of family support. When we fell pregnant with twin boys — sooner than we expected — the move back down south felt a bit abrupt and forced, but boy am I glad now that we did it straight away. Heading into the school holidays there is so much for us to do around Bunbury and the South West for our adventurous, ocean loving twin boys. Being surrounded by so much water, there’s somewhere for us to go fishing, crabbing and even hunting for yabbies no matter which way the wind is going. I always tell my friends, if you’re looking for me I’m probably out at The Cut flipping rocks hunting for rock crabs. We kicked off the holidays with a few day trips down to the Huts beach off Stratham. My husband is a free diver and of course we needed to stock up on crays for Christmas. The kids and I even all pile on to the stand up paddle board and paddle out to the reef, it’s like floating over an aquarium. It’s been a big busy year for our family so a secluded getaway out of reception was just what we needed. We are heading out to Bridgetown which is only just over an hour from Bunbury to stay at Into The Wild Escapes. My grandma grew up in Bridgetown and it’s a relaxed, family friendly town. We plan to swing past The Cidery which is known for natural cider and hearty, locally-inspired meals. From there we’ll head down to the Blackwood River park, which has plenty of shade, and after running wild on the playground we will see if we can spot some yabbies in the river before we head to accommodation for an outdoor bath on the deck. In January we will be heading to another one of our favourite spots in the South West, Augusta. My family has been going there for 25 years and every January, they re-book the same sites at Flinders Bay caravan park for a couple weeks of coastal walks, bakery runs and a lot of diving and fishing. As we have all grown up and started our own families, we have all come and gone as it suited us with work, kids and our own responsibilities, but we all make an effort to get down there. Flinders Bay Caravan Park is walking distance to the beach, with a beautiful bay for snorkelling, a pontoon for the bigger kids and a playground for the little ones. If it’s too windy down the beach, you can head around the river mouth — protected and the perfect spot for canoeing, fishing and is also super popular for kite surfing. Or, jump in your car for a 15 minute drive to Hamelin Bay. Living in Bunbury and exploring the South West has been the best decision for our family. The blend of adventure, ocean views, and family traditions has created a childhood for our boys that is as magical as ours once were. Whether it’s crabbing at The Cut, paddling out over reef aquariums, or enjoying an unplugged getaway in Bridgetown, this region offers endless memories waiting to be made. So, if you’re looking for us, chances are we’re out on the water, flipping rocks, or chasing the next adventure — right where we’re meant to be. The country's rate of shoplifting hit a 20-year high in October according to the Office for National Statistics - and one trepadacious reporter plunged into the shady underworld behind the crisis in the latest episode of the investigative current affairs programme. While undercover and through a series of secretly-filmed interviews, Matt Shea managed to track down a Northampton-based gang leader wanted by UK police and confront him about his links to warehouses in the UK stacked with boxes of stolen Sudocrem, Sensodyne toothpaste and Lemsip cold and flu tablets. The gang is wanted by the authorities for a string of thefts from Morrison's supermarkets totalling £120,000 - and were handing the goods over to a local wholesaler, who was also tied up in an illegal visa marriage scam. Gang leader Gugulan, who Matt was able to locate using social media, told him the products were being "sold in England, to Indians". When pressed on the specifics of the operation, he burst out: "There are 1,000 Romanian thieves in England. Why are you coming to my house? Everyone steals in England and they sell it to the Indians. Why do they not go to the Indians to find the stolen goods?" A wholesaler who met with Romanian undercover journalist Victor, told him the goods were sold "across the globe", adding: "Middle East, Africa, Europe, wherever I get the buyer, boom, sell it." The wholesaler, seemingly representing a company called Prime Value Distribution, then revealed that they also run an illegal visa programme, arranging marriages for Indian and Pakistani nationals who want to stay in the UK. They say, on the hidden camera: "What happens is that after five years, the person gets settlement in the UK because my clients pay £250 every month to the person to stay married. It's an arrangement, the government doesn't know." The involvement of international crime gangs in seemingly innocuous high street theft shows "a thriving black market for shoplifting groups in the UK", according to Channel 4. A spokesperson added: "Someone is bringing people into the country, giving them lists of what to steal and helping them distribute goods through that black market. These individual incidents are just the visible part of a co-ordinated attack on the high street, by international criminals that see the UK as an easy target." It comes after a House of Lords committee found that theft from shops was "not being tackled properly" earlier this month. A letter from the Justice and Home Affairs Committee to Policing Minister Dame Diana Johnson suggested that the term shoplifting was outdated and trivialises the "serious organised nature" of modern-day retail theft. The letter continued: “The scale of the problem within England and Wales is totally unacceptable and action is vital and urgent. The perception of an inadequate response to tackling shop theft risks undermining confidence in the police and wider criminal justice system.” Prime Value Distribution did not respond to a request for commment by Channel 4.

Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has eulogised the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, on his 75th birthday celebration, describing him as a game changer. Senator Barau, in a special birthday message to the former governor of Kano state, signed by his media aide, Ismail Mudashir, said the visionary leadership of Ganduje had brought about more cohesion and ultimately led to the party’s victory in four out of the five off-circle elections. Dr. Ganduje was born on December 25, 1949, and will celebrate his 75th birthday on Wednesday. He said that under Ganduje’s chairmanship, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had conducted five off-season elections, adding that APC had won all except Bayelsa state. Describing him as a strong pillar of democracy, he said Ganduje’s contributions to the development and progress of the country cannot be over-emphasised. ‘’As I predicted when he emerged as the national chairman of the largest political in Africa on August 3rd last year, the fortunes of the ruling APC have been blossoming under His Excellency Ganduje’s able leadership to the admiration of all. He is the game changer. Under him, we won four out of the five off-season elections. We won in Kogi, Imo, Edo and Ondo states. “This is not unconnected to his outstanding leadership, pro-members’ posture and can-do spirit he has exhibited since he took over the mantle of leadership. ‘’May Allah SWT continue to give him sound health, divine guidance and protection as he pilots the affairs of our party to even greater heights. More wins for our great party under his able leadership, Insha Allah,’’ he said.Power Electronics Market to Grow by USD 10.67 Billion from 2023-2028, Report on AI-Powered Market Evolution - TechnavioNone
