73 vipph PHILADELPHIA , Nov. 22, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Independence Blue Cross (IBX) is implementing the Epic Payer Platform with health systems and providers in its network to streamline data exchange, close gaps in care, and improve health outcomes for members. Epic Payer Platform is part of Epic, a global healthcare technology company. The platform helps facilitate data exchange and workflow processes for providers and health plans, giving them the insights they need to make care decisions while also saving them time. "We're excited about the implementation of Epic Payer Platform with Drexel Medicine , Jefferson Health , Main Line Health , and Penn Medicine being the first to join us in this transformation. We look forward to more of our health care partners signing on as well," said Michael Vennera , executive vice president and chief strategy, technology, and operations officer at Independence Blue Cross . "We expect the platform to transform how we coordinate care for our members with automatic sharing of information with our members' doctors. There are also anticipated cost savings to both IBX and the health systems and providers on the platform due to decreasing administrative burden, avoiding unnecessary admissions and emergency department visits, and improving preventive care." Some key improvements that IBX expects to see in the not-so-distant future from this implementation include: Fewer care gaps. The real-time exchange of clinical data helps IBX and its network close care gaps, enhancing member health understanding and improving care quality. More insight into members' health. IBX and its network can access synchronized clinical information in real-time, enhancing healthcare team collaboration and improving patient care strategies and outcomes. Reduced administrative burden. The Epic Payer Platform will make it easier and quicker for IBX and the health systems and providers in its network to communicate and share information, lessening the need for manual exchange of information. Enhanced medication cost transparency. Health Systems and providers will have real-time access to benefits information for IBX members. This will help them have meaningful discussions with patients about how much prescribed medications will cost members and, in some cases, suggest lower-cost alternatives if they are available. Comprehensive patient care journey data. Providing participating health systems and providers with complete and accurate population health analytics to inform health care providers. "The integration of the Epic Payer Platform with Independence Blue Cross will significantly enhance our ability to provide comprehensive and efficient care to our patients, ensuring better health outcomes and streamlined operations," said John S. Potts , DO, FAAFP, assistant chief medical information officer at Main Line Health. In the long-term future, IBX expects its use of Epic Payer Platform to lead to automating prior authorization requests and updates, improving efficiency and reducing delays. Other activities that IBX anticipates happening in the future include: Allowing health systems and providers to verify in-network status and access cost/quality ratings, increasing patient satisfaction and optimizing value-based care. Eliminating the need for manual scanning of physical insurance cards by providing digital ID card access. "We are excited to modernize our partnership with Independence Blue Cross via their Epic Payer Platform integration. These efforts aim to improve patient health outcomes, reduce provider burden, and grow digitally shared patient data," Nathalie S. May , MD, FACP, professor of medicine and chief quality officer at Drexel University College of Medicine. IBX is working with health systems and providers in the region who are already utilizing Epic's EHR system to implement the platform in a phased approach. This implementation of Epic Payer Platform complements IBX's existing work with HealthShare Exchange , a platform that allows health insurers and different types of providers (e.g., community providers, health systems, community-based organizations, etc.), who may or may not use Epic, to share clinical records to make patient care more informed. Member privacy and confidentiality is a top priority for IBX. IBX is working with Epic to safeguard clinical information utilizing physical, administrative, and technical safeguards as required by HIPAA. Falcons QB Cousins is looking to avoid interceptions, have bounce-back game in Minnesota homecomingThe main opposition People's Party (PP) announced it would not take part in former protest leader Sondhi Limthongkul's planned anti-government protests , saying it would work within the parliamentary system to fulfill its role. PP spokesman Parit Wacharasindhu said on Wednesday the party would focus on the government's work and address issues that were of public concern through parliamentary mechanisms. These issues, including the justice administration process, the Khao Kradong land controversy and the 2001 memorandum of understanding on joint development in the Gulf of Thailand signed by Thailand and Cambodia, would be examined as usual, he said. The party would also do it best to advocate for reforms and policies by submitting bills or proposing legal amendments, many of which were approved by parliament, he said. Mr Parit was responding to comments by Nattawut Saikuar, an adviser to the prime minister, who said PP supporters might join the planned street protests. The PP spokesman dismissed Mr Nattawut's comments as speculation, saying he had no idea on what it was based. However, he insisted the party supports people's freedom of expression whether the party agrees with the issues and it hopes that political expression will not violate democratic principles. "The party has no intention to whip up political movements outside parliament. "We're determined to work within the system to keep the government in check and advocate for change," he said. Mr Sondhi, former leader of the now-defunct People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD), caused a stir this week when he announced his plan to hold regular activities next year. Some observers warned these activities could escalate into mass demonstrations against the Pheu Thai-led government and even lead to the seizure of power. Mr Nattawut said previous demonstrations against the Thai Rak Thai-led government and the Pheu Thai administration culminated in the 2006 and 2014 coups. PM's Office Minister Chousak Sirinil on Wednesday called on the public to consider the impacts of past yellow-shirt protests and the coups, saying they were important lessons for the country. He said these incidents brought political instability which posed a major obstacle to the country's development. Mr Chousak said there were no conditions which could trigger mass protests and added that no negotiations under the 2001 MoU were in progress. He said the result of the talks would have to be reviewed and approved by parliament. "Such a crisis is way behind us, and I don't want the country to go back to that point," he said. The Pheu Thai Party member also brushed off speculation the Paetongtarn Shinawatra administration would be short-lived. Paiboon Nititawan, secretary-general of the Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP), on Wednesday warned the government not to mess things up especially when dealing with charter amendments and the referendum bill, which are controversial matters. He was commenting on Mr Chousak's remark that the waiting period for the referendum bill would be much shorter if it was classified as a finance-related law after the Senate last week won the joint House-Senate panel vote to retain the double majority rule needed to pass a charter amendment referendum. The House is likely to affirm the simple majority when the bill is returned for a vote, as it has backed such a change in the past. In this case a 180-day mandatory "cooling-off period" would apply before the bill is passed. However, if the bill is classified as a finance law, it will be suspended only 10 days, instead of 180 days. Mr Paiboon said the government should respect the House regulations and the House Speaker's judgement that the referendum bill is not a finance bill. He also said he agreed with some analysts' observations the Paetongtarn government might not last a year.

Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes' private exchange leaked after controversial Chiefs-Bills momentWorld pairs champion Deanna Stellato-Dudek became a Canadian citizen on Wednesday, clearing the way for the American-born figure skater to compete with partner Maxime Deschamps at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan. The 41-year-old Stellato-Dudek, who was born in Chicago, took the oath of citizenship in Montreal. “Taking the oath of citizenship in Canada is an overwhelming honor and I'm filled with gratitude towards everyone who believed in me and helped me get here,” she said. “I continue to be grateful to compete under the Canadian flag and anthem and can’t wait for my first international event as an official Canadian citizen with my partner Maxime.” The 41-year-old Stellato-Dudek began her career as an accomplished individual skater representing the U.S., finishing second at the world junior championships and winning the junior Grand Prix Final. But after sustaining a series of hip injuries, she decided to retire in 2001, only to make a comeback as a pairs skater with American partner Nathan Bartholomay in 2016. The pair twice finished third at the U.S. championships before splitting in 2019, and that's when Stellato-Dudek teamed up with Deschamps, who had separated from his American partner Sydney Kolodziej the previous year. Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps considered skating for the U.S., but they were concerned that he would not be granted American citizenship in time to compete at the 2026 Olympics; the Olympic Charter requires athletes to hold the nationality of the country represented by their National Olympic Committee in order to compete at the Summer or Winter Games. Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps instead began to compete for Canada in Grand Prix and other international competitions, where citizenship is not a requirement of the International Skating Union, the world governing body for the sport. Together, the pair have won the past two Canadian pairs titles along with five of their last six Grand Prix events. They won the world title last year in front of a supportive crowd in Montreal, and won the Grand Prix of Finland and Skate Canada this season before withdrawing from last week's Grand Prix Final because of an illness that put Deschamps on the sideline. Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps plan to return for the Canadian championships in Laval in January. They also are expected to be at the world championships, which are taking place in March in Boston. ___ AP sports: https://apnews.com/sports
