Chipotle is raising its U.S. prices to offset inflation and to compensate for a promise to increase portion sizes. Chipotle’s chief corporate affairs officer, Laurie Schalow, confirmed Friday that the Mexican restaurant chain was implementing a 2% price increase nationally. Schalow said it’s the first time the California-based company has raised its prices in more than a year. Chipotle revealed the price increase after an analyst report released earlier this week by investment bank Truist Securities noted a 2% price increase at approximately 20% of the chain’s 3,500 U.S. stores. Truist, which raised its price target for Chipotle’s shares, also reported that customer traffic at the chain’s restaurants accelerated in November. Chipotle said in October that its food, beverage and packaging costs all increased in the third quarter. It cited avocados as an example. Avocado shipments from Mexico to the U.S. were briefly suspended in June after two U.S. Department of Agriculture employees were assaulted and temporarily held by assailants in the Mexican state of Michoacan. Chipotle also cited the cost of ensuring it was providing “consistent and generous portions” to its customers. Former Chairman and CEO Brian Niccol said in July that Chipotle was retraining workers at approximately 10% of Chipotle’s stores after customers complained on social media that they were getting smaller portions. Niccol left Chipotle in September to become the chairman and CEO of Starbucks, which has said it won’t raise prices through September 2025. Restaurant price inflation has aggravated U.S. consumers. The price of food eaten away from home rose 30% between October 2019 and October 2024, according to government figures. The price of food eaten at home rose 27% in that same period. Earlier this year, McDonald’s said it was seeing more customers eat at home instead of getting fast food because of price increases. The company responded with a $5 meal deal and other discounts. Manuel, who has held the position since 2016, signed through June 30, 2030, the school announced. Manuel is also chairman of the College Football Playoff selection committee. “During Warde’s tenure as director, Athletics has put a structure in place where our student-athletes compete for Big Ten and national championships, excel in the classroom, and proudly graduate with their University of Michigan degrees,” university President Santa J. Ono said in the announcement. Michigan had a disappointing football season, finishing 7-5 (5-4 Big Ten), but a 13-10 win over then-No. 2 Ohio State took some pressure off of the program. The Buckeyes were favored by 21 points, the widest point spread for the rivalry since 1978, according to ESPN Stats and Info. The Wolverines won the national championship last year in their final season led by coach Jim Harbaugh, whose tenure at the school involved multiple NCAA investigations for recruiting and sign-stealing allegations. Manuel supported Harbaugh through those processes. In basketball, the women's team made its season debut (No. 23) in the AP Top 25 this week. The men are 7-1 a season after firing coach Juwan Howard, who lost a school-record 24 games in 2023-24 as Michigan plummeted to a last-place finish in the Big Ten for the first time since 1967. Michigan has won 52 Big Ten championships since 2020. “Every day, I am thankful to work at this great institution and to represent Michigan Athletics," Manuel said in a statement. "I especially want to thank the student-athletes, coaches and staff who compete for each of our teams and who have helped us achieve unparalleled success athletically and academically. After missing his 17th contest against the Orlando Magic, the 2023 NBA MVP will wade into dangerous territory and risk disqualification for regular-season awards. The NBA, in cooperation with the National Basketball Players Association, instituted a 65-game rule last season for awards, aiming to deter players and teams from relying on load management to skip games. The seven-time All-Star was disqualified last season after playing in only 39 games. This season, the most games Embiid can play is 65, provided he participates in all remaining contests starting with Sunday’s game against the Bulls in Chicago. However, that scenario is unlikely, as Embiid is not expected to play on back-to-back nights due to load management. Embiid, who has missed the last six games, is averaging career lows of 19.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.0 block. He’s also posting career lows of 37.9% shooting from the field and 16.7% from 3-point range. While Embiid will remain sidelined, Paul George is set to return after missing one game for load management to face the Magic (16-8) at the Wells Fargo Center. Meanwhile, center Andre Drummond (sprained right ankle) has been upgraded to questionable after being initially ruled out. His status change could be related to reserve center Adem Bona being sidelined with a bruised left knee. The Sixers (5-15) will look to avenge Wednesday’s 106-102 loss to Orlando.

Raiders confirm QB Gardner Minshew out for season, look to Aidan O'ConnellTAIPEI , Dec. 6, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Cordyceps Sunshine Biotech Holdings Co., Ltd. 【C.S 】 Group , Taiwan's largest chain specializing in Taiwanofungus products, has officially announced its entry into the global pet medication market with a groundbreaking new drug. On November 30, 2024 , the company co-hosted the "Taiwanofungus Fungal Technology and Pharmacological Research Progress Seminar" in Taipei with the Chinese Herbal Fungi Industry Research and Development Association (CHFIRDA). During the seminar, 【C.S 】 Group revealed plans to produce a topical ointment using Antcin A , a key compound extracted from Taiwanofungus , aiming to address the demand in the global steroid-based pet medication market. Extraction and purification of the key compound in Taiwanofungus, Antcin A. Vincent Liu , director at 【C.S 】 Group , highlighted the company's unique position as one of the few biotech startups capable of vertically integrating the entire production chain-from fungal strain development, cultivation, extraction, and purification to large-scale production and distribution. It is expected that the active ingredients will be further extracted, making it an ideal candidate for the development of botanical new drugs. A report by Market Research Engine projects the global botanical drugs market to reach $47.4 billion by 2028, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6%. Antcin A, a signature sterol compound derived from Taiwanofungus, serves as a precursor for many bioactive compounds but is challenging to extract due to its scarcity in wild strains. Leveraging proprietary breeding techniques and patent-protected cultivation methods, 【C.S 】 Group has successfully optimized the production of Antcin A, enabling scalable extraction and purification. (Left) Vincent Liu, Director of 【C.S】 Group; (Right) Dalan Huang, President of 【C.S】 Group Dr. Jia-Xin Huang , a renowned Taiwanofungus expert, The effects of Antcin A have been recognized by the industry for a long time. However, the extraction process requires a large amount of Taiwanofungus raw materials, which is very costly and few industry players can overcome it. As a result, the market demand far exceeds the supply. If it is to be commercialized in the short term, it is very suitable to be introduced into the pet external preparation market first. Dr. Chiao Li , a U.S. listing advisor for 【C.S 】 Group , emphasized the immense potential of the global pet market, particularly in North America . According to the American Pet Products Association (APPA), as of 2017-2018, there were 84.6 million pet-owning households in the U.S., with 94.2 million cats and 89.7 million dogs. The pet industry is projected to reach $150 billion by 2024. Furthermore, Asia has emerged as a fast-growing pet market, with substantial growth momentum. In developed regions like Europe and the U.S., spending on pets-including medical care, medications, food, and insurance-is well-established. As pet ownership rises globally, fueled by aging populations and declining birth rates, demand for pet medications is expected to increase. Innovative Solutions for a Growing Market Dalan Huang , President of 【C.S 】 Group , cited a Research Nester report projecting the global pet medication market to reach $22.58 billion by 2024, with a CAGR exceeding 9.7% through 2036, potentially surpassing $69.8 billion . Steroids remain a common treatment option but are often stigmatized due to their side effects. With the anti-inflammatory efficacy of Antcin A, 【C.S 】 Group aims to introduce a novel steroid alternative that reduces reliance on conventional steroids while minimizing side effects, a solution likely to appeal to both veterinarians and pet owners. The Taiwanese pet medication market is valued at approximately NT$60 billion , with NT$12 billion attributed to livestock and NT$48 billion to pets. Taiwan's Institute for Economic Research (TIER) estimates that the pet population will reach 4 million by 2025, ensuring steady market growth. Promising Growth in the U.S. Capital Market In recent years, the U.S. capital market has introduced pet-themed ETFs, reflecting the long-term revenue potential of the pet industry, where the average pet lifespan of 10-15 years provides stable income streams resilient to economic fluctuations. 【C.S 】 Group 's classification in the U.S. stock market as a company specializing in medicinal plants is supported by its exclusive cultivation techniques for Taiwan's native Taiwanofungus . With large-scale production facilities in Taiwan , the company has achieved a CAGR of 41% in the Taiwanese market between 2023 and 2024. Building on the Asia pacific herbal health and pharmaceutical markets, 【C.S 】 Group 's expansion into the global pet steroid medication market is set to drive significant revenue growth with a bright outlook ahead.PEP GUARDIOLA mounted a passionate defence of Manchester City after Jose Mourinho smeared his six Prem titles.
