Handle Your Floor Care Automatically With a Roomba J7 Plus, $440 Off for Black FridayULSTER SNAPPED THEIR five-game losing streak with a brilliant performance charged by their young players in Galway tonight. Richie Murphy’s men despite making the trip to Galway without a string of senior players. Yet the visitors looked hungrier throughout, starting with real intent and delivering some excellent defensive moments to land their first away win of the season. “We’re obviously massively delighted to get that win,” said Ulster boss Richie Murphy. ‘Traveling up during the week we lost a few boys, even in the warm up there we lost Rob Herring, so we’re missing a lot of experience at the pitch. So for those guys to come in and do as well as they done and for those young blacks to stand up and play against the likes of Bundee (Aki) and Mack (Hansen) is massively satisfying for us. “We didn’t give them a minute on the ball defensively, we put a lot of pressure on them and a lot of that credit has to go to Johnny Bell.” Ulster captain Nick Timoney was outstanding, while number eight James McNabney lead the charge in a dominant first half showing. Murphy also singled out his half-backs and a strong defensive display from centres Ben Carson and Jude Postlethwaite. “From an attack point of view, obviously the two tries we got were on the back of good forward carries, dominating a little bit around the gain line. “That young backline is going to take a little bit of time to get used to the speed of the game and how they can bring others into the game, but I thought both Ben Carson and Jude Postlethwaite were very strong defensively, very strong with their carry. “I thought Jack Murphy put us in a couple of different good places and I saw Nathan Doak had an incredibly good game. His clearance kicking and his pressure coming through off the back of the line was incredible.” The win lifts Ulster to eight in the URC table, as they head into a week off before returning to Champions Cup action with games against Leicester and Exeter next month.

By Gerald Lynch Star Weekly is looking back on its best stories of 2024. This story was originally published in July and Star Weekly has chosen to share it again for readers to enjoy. Mayors from Melbourne’s north-west have called on the state and federal governments to get on with building the Melbourne Airport Rail Link. As reported by Star Weekly, mediator Neil Scales, who was appointed to determine whether a resolution is possible between the state government and the operator of Melbourne Airport as to the location of the station, reported that the rail link project remains viable and necessary, and is well backed by all parties. In a report tabled to federal Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Minister Catherine King, Mr Scales recommended the station be built above ground. Hume mayor Naim Kurt said it is time to get on with the building of the project, as it is a development that is integral for Hume residents “Melbourne Airport remains the only Australian capital city without a rail link, which unfairly impacts our residents that work from the airport,” he said. “As one of Australia’s fastest growing council’s, we need all levels of government to commit to outer suburbs by keeping this project on track, just as they have for the Suburban Rail Loop East. “Our residents’ needs should come before politics, and we hope the mediator’s report will help end the stalemate so work can begin and reduce the projected four-year delay. Brimbank mayor Ranka Rasic echoed this sentiment, and said it is more than time for the rail link to be built. “The mediator has provided a clear way forward and it is time now for all the parties involved to put their differences aside, work together and get the Melbourne Airport Rail project built,” she said. “We also call on the state government to reassess its revised timeline of a four-year delay and treat the project with the same priority as the Suburban Rail Loop East, which will service the better connected and more affluent suburbs in Melbourne’s east.” The Melbourne Airport Rail will also enable development of the Sunshine Precinct, the rebuild of Albion Station and the development of the Albion Quarter. These projects are expected to generate almost 30,000 new jobs and attract more than 40,000 new residents to the west.Wall Street sees another positive year ahead

Salah nervelessly converted a 63rd-minute penalty, his 16th goal of the season, after French referee Benoit Bastien had been advised to take another look at Donny van de Beek’s clumsy challenge on Luis Diaz. In the process, he became just the 11th man to score 50 goals in the competition – Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe later also joined that exclusive club – on a night when victory at the Estadi Montilivi meant the six-time European champions will enter 2025 sitting proudly at the top of the table. France international Michael Olise produced a moment of magic to set the seal on Bayern Munich’s demolition of Shakhtar Donetsk and ease them towards the knockout stage. Olise’s brilliant stoppage-time run and finish capped a 5-1 victory for the Germans, in which he had early scored from the penalty spot, in Gelsenkirchen. Kevin’s fifth-minute strike had given the home side the perfect start, but Konrad Laimer levelled before Thomas Muller’s 55th goal in the competition sent the visitors in ahead at the break and set the stage for Olise’s double either side of Jamal Musiala’s strike. Jude Bellingham breathed life back into Real Madrid’s campaign as they held off Atalanta to earn a 3-2 victory in Bergamo. After Charles De Ketelaere had cancelled out Mbappe’s opener from the penalty spot, second-half goals from Vinicius Junior and Bellingham in quick succession put the visitors in charge, although Ademola Lookman’s 65th-minute strike meant the contest was alive until the final whistle. Ross Barkley took Aston Villa a step closer to automatic qualification with a late winner against RB Leipzig in Germany. Villa had led twice through John McGinn and Jhon Duran, but equalisers from Lois Openda and Christoph Baumgartner kept Leipzig in it until substitute Barkley struck five minutes from time to snatch a 3-2 victory. Goals from Goncalo Ramos, Nuno Mendes and substitute Desire Doue – his first in the competition – handed French champions Paris St Germain a much-needed three points after a comfortable 3-0 win at RB Salzburg. Nordi Mukiele left it late to end Inter Milan’s unbeaten Champions League record as Bayer Leverkusen claimed a dramatic 1-0 victory at the BayArena. Mukiele struck in the 90th minute to inflict a first defeat across six games in this season’s competition on the Serie A champions – it was also the first goal they have conceded. Casper Nielsen came off the bench to fire Club Brugge to a 2-1 home victory over Sporting Lisbon after Eduardo Quaresma’s own goal had handed them a way back into the game following Geny Catamo’s early opener. Julien Le Cardinal’s first-half strike was enough to handed Brest a 1-0 victory over Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven, while Kasper Schmeichel’s save from Marko Pjaca’s close-range 80th-minute header ensured Celtic returned from Dinamo Zagreb with a 0-0 draw.
