The United States Postal Service might have found a way to unite a nation bitterly divided after this month's election: It will release a Betty White stamp. The beloved actor known for roles in "The Golden Girls," "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," "Boston Legal" and others will be on a 2025 Forever stamp, USPS announced this past week. White died in late December 2021 , less than three weeks before her 100th birthday. The Postal Service hasn't announced a release date for the stamp. Betty White speaks Sept. 17, 2018, at the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. “An icon of American television, Betty White (1922–2021) shared her wit and warmth with viewers for seven decades,” the Postal Service said in announcing the stamp, which depicts a smiling White based on a 2010 photograph by celebrity photographer Kwaku Alston . “The comedic actor, who gained younger generations of fans as she entered her 90s, was also revered as a compassionate advocate for animals.” Boston-based artist Dale Stephanos created the digital illustration from Alston's photo. "I'd love to send a letter back to my 18-year-old self with this stamp on it and tell him that everything is going to be OK," Stephanos posted on Facebook . Regardless of personal politics, self-proclaimed supporters of Republican President-elect Donald Trump and Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris reacted with delight on social media. "Betty White was my hero, all of my life! I actually had a doll when I was a little girl I named Betty White," one Trump supporter posted on X , formerly Twitter. “Something to make this awful week a little better: We’re getting a Betty White stamp,” a pro-Harris X account posted. White combined a wholesome image with a flare for bawdy jokes . Her television career began in the early 1950s and exploded as she aged. “The only SNL host I ever saw get a standing ovation at the after party," Seth Meyers posted on Twitter after her death. "A party at which she ordered a vodka and a hotdog and stayed til the bitter end.” Allen Ludden and his wife Betty White, who love to play games, continue a two year gin rummy battle in which she's ahead by a cumulative 6,000 points in Westchester, N.Y. on April 29, 1965. Has anyone emerged as the Mega millions jackpot winner? Here's some stunning news coming in from a gas station in CaliforniaU.S. Steel employees rallied outside a Pennsylvania steel mill Thursday to show support for Nippon Steel's $14.9 billion acquisition of the company amid reports the deal will be blocked. Nippon Steel has pledged $5,000 bonuses to union and non-represented workers under the senior management level if the deal goes through. The Japan-based steelmaker is offering $100 million in bonuses. Both union and nonunion members rallied at the U. S. Steel Mon Valley Works Clairton Plant near Pittsburgh for the deal. “Our employees and community members are rallying once again to show the unrelenting support for the transaction with Nippon Steel. This transaction strengthens U.S. national security, economic security, and job security, creating the best possibility for U. S. Steel to get better and bigger. This transaction with Nippon Steel is the only scenario where significant investments would occur across the unionized, integrated facilities, including in Mon Valley Works. We need to get the deal done,” U.S. Steel President and Chief Executive Officer David B. Burritt said. Listen now and subscribe: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | RSS Feed | SoundStack | All Of Our Podcasts Nippon Steel has pledged to invest $2.7 billion in U.S. Steel's mills, including $300 million to reline a blast furnace at Gary Works. “I walk the floor every day at the Clairton Plant, talking to many USW members and multi-generation steelworkers. We want a future that is strong and secure for us, for our families, and for the Mon Valley. We have learned about the partnership with Nippon Steel and met with Nippon Steel’s leaders and are confident that this transaction is the best way to achieve that. Their commitment to invest in our Mon Valley Works facilities is essential to supporting the next generation of steelmaking in Pennsylvania,” said Richard Tikey, USW-Represented Maintenance Technician, U. S. Steel Mon Valley Works. Nippon Steel's pledged investment is expected to generate $1 billion in economic impact. "U. S. Steel is a mainstay of life in Western PA and an engine of prosperity for our people. Under the new partnership with Nippon Steel, U. S. Steel will gain new investments, new technology, and modernization that will keep production in the Mon Valley for generations to come. We need political leaders to join the local labor, business, and civic leaders who are embracing this opportunity and the prosperity it will bring," said David N. Taylor, President and CEO of Pennsylvania Manufacturers' Association. Bloomberg News reported President Joe Biden is on the verge of blocking the deal, which has faced political opposition from both parties. The United Steelworkers union has opposed it on a number of grounds, including concerns it would lead to further decline of the American steel industry, that it would result in fewer tariffs to protect domestic production and that it would make negotiating less transparent, as Nippon Steel is not a publicly traded company in the United States that's required to have open financial books.

The Atlanta Braves could be in need of reinforcements if Juan Soto signs with the Philadelphia Phillies or New York Mets. They could turn to the trade market to add an arm this winter. While listing "emergency" signings the Braves can make if Soto lands in the National League East, FanSided's Christopher Kline urged the Braves to make a blockbuster trade for Chicago White Sox ace Garrett Crochet. "Sometimes it's best to zag when other teams zig. If the Mets or Phillies load up on offense with Soto, perhaps the Braves should take the opposite approach and add Garrett Crochet to arguably the best pitching staff in the National League," wrote Kline. "We've seen Atlanta connected to Crochet and it's a clear fit, made all the more appealing with Fried's potential departure looming over the franchise." 2024 was Crochet's first season as a starter. All he did was earn an All-Star nod and pitch to a 3.58 ERA. Bringing him to Atlanta could potentially replace Max Fried. He would not have the pressure of a No. 1 starter pitching behind National League Cy Young Award winner Chris Sale. Spotrac projects Crochet to sign a six-year, $136 million deal when he hits free agency after the 2026 season. USA Today's Bob Nightengale revealed that the White Sox plan to move Crochet this winter. "No already-employed player was sought after more at these GM meetings than Chicago White Sox starter Garrett Crochet, who struck out 209 batters in 146 innings and earned only $800,000 last season," wrote Nightengale. Crochet will not be cheap in terms of what the Braves would have to send to the White Sox. However, he could be the type of player the Braves need to combat Juan Soto potentially joining the NL East. The Canadian-founded, New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)-listed quantum computing company plans to use this capital to fuel its technical development efforts and business operations. Following this financing, D-Wave expects to close out 2024 with at least $160 million in cash. In a statement, D-Wave president and CEO Alan Baratz said that the fundraise “substantially improves the company’s financial strength, positioning D-Wave for the future and enabling us to fully execute against our product and go-to-market strategies and roadmaps.” Founded in 1999, D-Wave builds and sells quantum computing systems, software, and services. D-Wave has raised hundreds of millions of dollars to date and spent 25 years developing its , but the company remains in the early stages of building a sustainable business as it continues to incur heavy losses. During the third quarter, D-Wave generated approximately $1.9 million in revenue, a 27 percent drop year-over-year, according to its latest earnings report. The company’s operating expenses were $21.7 million and its net loss was nearly $23 million, up nine percent and 41 percent respectively relative to the same period last year. The quantum computing firm on the NYSE just over two years ago through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company in 2022. Last summer, the company lost its outside accounting firm and to move its principal executive office from Canada to the US. Though D-Wave now lists its headquarters as Palo Alto, Calif. on LinkedIn, the company still has operations in Burnaby, BC, where its quantum engineering centre is located, and a strong presence in Canada. Over the past two years, D-Wave has faced multiple non-compliance warnings for failing to meet the NYSE’s continued listing standard for minimum stock price, as its shares repeatedly fell below $1 apiece for more than 30 consecutive days. At time of publication, D-Wave’s shares are trading at $3.91 apiece—down nearly 64 percent since the company went public in mid-2022, but up 320 percent over the past year. In 2024, D-Wave expects it will have lost less than the $54-million adjusted earnings before income, taxes, depreciation, and amortization loss the company posted last year.
While the After-Christmas discounts we're seeing from retailers like Amazon and Newegg aren't as notable as Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, there are some diamonds in the rough waiting to be discovered. This particular deal caught my eye: 20% off the mechanical keyboard I use every day, and customize frequently. You can get the Keychron Q3 Max for $187.99 (was $234.99) at Best Buy until Tuesday, January 2nd. I'm a big fan of the stock typing feel here, and that's thanks to the pre-lubed Gateron switches and double-shot PBT keycaps. Those are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the pros on offer here. Today's best Keychron Q3 Max deal The Keychron Q3 Max is an 80% wireless keyboard with a phenomenal typing feel, a handy volume wheel, all the functionality you need, and the customization options that make mechanical keyboards worth using. The stock pre-lubed Gateron switches are great, but since this board is hot-swappable, you can customize everything but the CNC aluminum chassis. It's got RGB backlighting and trusty screw-in stabilizers - this board is the real deal. Especially at 20% off for Best Buy's New Year's sale. I'll just come right out and say it: I'm a mechanical keyboard nerd. I love testing new switches, and learning about the minute differences between screw-in and plate-mounted stabilizers...you get the idea. So I won't use just any typing piece as my daily driver. The Keychron Q3 Max earned my loyalty with its outstanding build quality, followed by the added features that keep me coming back no matter how many keyboards I get my hands on. You don't get a numpad at its 80% form factor, but that's alright by me since it frees up more desk space for my mouse to maneuver. The Q3 Max isn't just an eye-catching shell, either. When you dive under the surface, you see layers upon layers of engineering and love for the craft. Keychron assembled this board with silicone gaskets, layers of sound-dampening foam, and a quality PCB that handles N-key rollover and hot-swapping with ease. The only weak link here is QMK/VIA, the customization software for the Q3 Max's RGB lighting and macros. It's gotten better over the past few years of updates, but it's just not up to par with some personalization software like Logitech's G HUB. Still, once you get it up and running, you can set a few light effect hotkeys, and macros, then hardly have to touch it again. A very, very small price to pay for a fantastic wireless keyboard that's sure to bring your whole PC setup together, whether for work or play.Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Acquires 47,989 Shares of BlackRock U.S. Carbon Transition Readiness ETF (NYSEARCA:LCTU)The nationwide FanDuel Promo Code that unlocks free NBA League Pass and a $150 bonus bet offer is now one of the top Black Friday 2024 sports betting deal's on the market.
