At a town hall meeting with the bureau workforce, Mr Wray said he would be stepping down “after weeks of careful thought”. Mr Wray’s intended resignation is not unexpected considering that Mr Trump had picked Mr Patel for the role in his new administration. Mr Wray had previously been named by Mr Trump and began the 10-year term — a length meant to insulate the agency from the political influence of changing administrations — in 2017, after Mr Trump fired then-FBI director James Comey. Mr Trump had demonstrated his anger with Mr Wray on multiple occasions, including after Mr Wray’s congressional testimony in September. “My goal is to keep the focus on our mission — the indispensable work you’re doing on behalf of the American people every day,” Mr Wray told agency employees. “In my view, this is the best way to avoid dragging the bureau deeper into the fray, while reinforcing the values and principles that are so important to how we do our work.” Mr Wray continued: “It should go without saying, but I’ll say it anyway — this is not easy for me. I love this place, I love our mission, and I love our people — but my focus is, and always has been, on us and doing what’s right for the FBI.” Mr Wray received a standing ovation following his remarks before a standing-room-only crowd at FBI headquarters and some in the audience cried, according to an FBI official who was not authorised to discuss the private gathering and spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press. Mr Trump applauded the news on social media, calling it “a great day for America as it will end the weaponisation of what has become known as the United States Department of Injustice” and saying that Mr Patel’s confirmation will begin “the process of Making the FBI Great Again”. If confirmed by the Senate, Mr Patel would herald a radical leadership transformation at the nation’s premier federal law enforcement agency. He has advocated shutting down the FBI’s Washington headquarters and called for ridding the federal government of “conspirators”, raising alarm that he might seek to wield the FBI’s significant investigative powers as an instrument of retribution against Mr Trump’s perceived enemies. Mr Patel said in a statement Wednesday that he was looking forward to “a smooth transition. I will be ready to serve the American people on day one”.Cloudpoint Technology Berhad (KLSE:CLOUDPT) Has Announced A Dividend Of MYR0.01nawigacja smart sg777 eu

Investors have been hit with an increased amount of short reports from some of the most well-known names in the space, which could be due to high valuations for stocks or could be coming after the 2024 presidential election results . What Happened: Over the past three months, big names in the short report space have taken on small and large companies claiming high valuations, accounting irregularities and other reasons that the stocks should trade lower. Muddy Waters recently issued a short report on e.l.f. Beauty , which was the first report from the short seller in months. Kerrisdale Capital recently issued a short report on Oklo , its first published report since June. Hindenburg , who has been issuing short reports on a monthly basis was the talk of the investing world when they took on technology company Super Micro Computer SMCI , accusing the company of accounting, governance and compliance problems. While the call was not popular at the time, given the company's soaring valuation, the stock is now down 28% over the last month after some of the alleged claims from Hindenburg were amplified with the resignation of the company's independent auditor. Citron Research published an update on their Geo Group bullish case in September, the last post made on the company's website. However, the firm led by Andrew Left has been active on social media, with a post this week announcing the firm had shorted shares of the high-flying software company and Bitcoin BTC/USD holder MicroStrategy Inc MSTR . The announcement of the short report by Left comes as the investor recently pleaded not guilty to fraud charges in July. Along with the recent growth of short reports from the firms who hadn't published in awhile, there are also regular short reports coming monthly from Grizzly Research and bi-weekly reports from The Bear Cave. Read Also: ‘Dead Company Walking’: Short Seller Sets Sights On ViaSat, Expects Elon Musk’s Starlink To Take Share After Trump Win Why It's Important: While short reports have been a regular fixture for investors for years, both from investors who are betting against the stocks themselves with their own short positions, newer reports from the likes of The Bear Cave by Edwin Dorsey come from an investor who claims to never take stakes in the companies he writes about. Whether short reports are being done to make profit betting against the stock or to provide public information for investors to make their own decisions on investments, the big question is why the increase in reports over the last several months. There's likely two big reasons why. The first big reason for the increase could be because of the narrative that short sellers and short reports will be targeted by the new White House administration. Muddy Waters' CEO Carson Block said Elon Musk and Donald Trump have both publicly criticized short sellers in the past. "We've already had some rhetoric, we might have some more anti-short seller rhetoric," Block told Bloomberg . Block said Republican-led administrations are often lighter on enforcement, but he's not sure if Trump will roll back regulations. "It is a question as to who is going to head the SEC," Block added. The comment comes as SEC Chairman Gary Gensler recently announced he will step down on Trump's inauguration day, ahead of the assumption that Trump was going to replace him with a new leader. Trump Media & Technology Group DJT , which was co-founded by Trump, has targeted short sellers and alleged that naked short selling is the reason the stock has fallen in price several times. Musk, who has often publicly criticized short sellers, recently said he wanted to "obliterate" short sellers. The other reason for the increased short report volume could be due to stock market indexes trading near all-time highs and strong year-to-date gains. The SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust SPY , which tracks the S&P 500, is up 26.0% year-to-date. This return is currently the fourth best in the last 10 years and the ETF could still pass the returns of 26.2% (2023), 28.8% (2021) and 31.2% (2019) to move up the list. The Nuke, 17, breezed into the third round earlier in the day with a 6-23 victory over Ritchie Edhouse - having already beaten Rob Cross 6-0 in his opening match . Edhouse was left applauding Littler after he hit double bullseye to complete a 120 checkout. And it was more exhibition stuff from the teenager in the evening session as he booked a last-eight clash with Mike De Decker. Littler won the opening two legs before Noppert pegged him back to level at 2-2. That sparked the world championship runner-up into life as he proceeded to claim six legs on the spin to effectively put the match to bed. OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Alabama faces a tougher roadblock than it might appear in its quest to maintain positioning for the College Football Playoff. Sure, Oklahoma has struggled in its first Southeastern Conference season. The Sooners (5-5, 1-5 SEC) have lost four straight conference games. The Sooners have fired their offensive coordinator and they have the worst offense in the league. But they have a tough defense, too. Linebacker Danny Stutsman, a midseason AP All-American, anchors a nasty unit that has kept the Sooners competitive in losses at Ole Miss and Missouri. He ranks second in the SEC with 96 tackles. Defensive back Billy Bowman Jr. has scored four defensive touchdowns since the start of the 2023 season, tied for the most nationally. Defensive end R Mason Thomas has seven sacks, with six coming in the fourth quarter of close games. Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer is paying attention. “It’s going to take a great week of preparation,” DeBoer said. “A physical football team all around. Their defense is, I think, an extremely tough defense in all ways — just what they do with their scheme and then with their personnel, the way they fly around.” Plus, Oklahoma is motivated. It’s Senior Day for a program that would become bowl eligible with a win. Beating the seventh-ranked Crimson Tide could cure a lot of ills for the Sooners. “I think they know they could be a great example for what fight and what belief and what finishing and what improving and what proving people wrong looks like,” Oklahoma coach Brent Venables said. “And I think this is a group of guys that are committed to doing that.” Alabama (8-2, 4-2) has more answers than most. Jalen Milroe has passed for 15 touchdowns and rushed for 17. Freshman receiver Ryan Williams has 40 catches for 767 yards and eight touchdowns. “Yeah, incredibly explosive, and they have great playmakers everywhere," Venables said. “Certainly, it starts — everything goes through the quarterback.” There has been much talk about what a third loss would do to Alabama's playoff hopes. DeBoer said his team isn't focused on that. “I think we're really honed in and the guys really believe on and have understood the significance of really focusing on where we’re at right now,” he said. “We talk about the next play is the most important play, the next game is the most important game. We haven’t thought about anything beyond Oklahoma.” Milroe is only the fourth SEC quarterback since 2007 to have at least 15 passing touchdowns and 17 rushing touchdowns in a single season. The others won the Heisman Trophy during their seasons — Florida's Tim Tebow in 2007, Auburn's Cam Newton in 2010 and Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel in 2012. “I think it just starts with doing what’s best for the team, and that’s what Jalen is all about," DeBoer said. Since returning to the lineup early against South Carolina four games ago, Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold has completed 70 of 112 passes for 705 yards with five touchdowns with no interceptions. Still, his fumble that was returned for a touchdown in the final minute against Missouri was the difference in a 30-23 loss. Arnold has dealt with significant criticism all season. “That goes along with that position at a place like the University of Oklahoma,” Venables said. “That’s a position that’s a little bit ... it’s a bit like the head coach position. There’s a different type of microscope and there’s a different type of focus and that’s okay he’s got broad shoulders to handle that.” Oklahoma running back Jovantae Barnes ran for career highs of 203 yards and three touchdowns against Maine two weeks ago, then he sat out last week's loss to Missouri. He's listed as questionable on this week's injury report. He leads the Sooners with 577 yards rushing this season. Venables is impressed with what DeBoer has done in his first year at Alabama since taking over for Nick Saban. “One of Kalen’s strengths as a football coach — a very successful coach — is he takes a group of players that he has, and their staff figures out what they can do,” Venables said. “They major in that, put them in position to be successful based on the players’ strengths. They’ve done a nice job of doing that throughout the course of the season.” Oklahoma beat heavily favored Alabama 45-31 in the Sugar Bowl to cap the 2013 season, a game that helped pump energy into the Sooner program under Bob Stoops. Alabama got revenge in 2018, beating the Sooners 45-34 in the College Football Playoff. Get poll alerts and updates on the AP Top 25 throughout the season. Sign up here . Motorsport legend Tony Stewart has taken a side in the ongoing legal battle between NASCAR and 23XI Racing, co-owned by driver Denny Hamlin and NBA icon Michael Jordan , and Front Row Motorsports. Stewart made the decision earlier in the year to close down Stewart-Haas Racing's NASCAR endeavors, along with his partner Gene Haas. Despite leaving the world of NASCAR from a team point of view, Stewart still remains as an important voice in the sport. 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports announced that they had launched a lawsuit against NASCAR and its chairman Jim France in October, accusing the sport of using monopolistic practices. The teams shared at the time, as previously reported by Newsweek Sports : "We share a passion for racing, the thrill of competition, and winning. Off the racetrack, we share a belief that change is necessary for the sport we love. Together, we brought this antitrust case so that racing can thrive and become a more competitive and fair sport in ways that will benefit teams, drivers, sponsors, and, most importantly, fans." Hamlin, co-owner of 23XI Racing, also commented at the time: "It's actually pretty simple in my opinion. When I look around, I see that the best and most competitive sports in the world understand that when teams thrive, fans benefit, and that everyone who invests in making the sport a success should share fairly in that success. With the right changes, we can certainly make that a reality in racing." The legal process is still ongoing. Now, Stewart has given his verdict on the charter agreements which he brands "a joke". During an appearance on Cars and Culture with Jason Stein (below), Stewart explained: "The charter agreements are a joke. "And if people aren't smart enough to read between the lines – when someone like Rick Hendrick says, 'I just got tired of arguing with them,' do you think Rick Hendrick runs his business and negotiations and just says, 'I'm going to just sign this agreement because I'm tired of arguing with you.' Rick Hendrick's never done that a day in his life. "So, if people aren't smart enough to read between the lines and figuring out what that means, then you're all missing the whole big picture all by itself. So, it's just an area I don't want to be a part of anymore. I'm a purist, I'm an old-school guy when it comes to racing."

Paloma Alves had difficulty breathing after the procedure and went into cardiac arrest at Maná Day, a beauty clinic located in São Paulo, the state capital. Alves was rushed by paramedics to Dr. Cármino Caricchio Municipal Hospital and died in the emergency room while doctors were attempting to save her life. According to Brazilian news outlet G1 , Alves' husband, Everton Silveira, said that she hired the services of Dr. Josias dos Santos through social media and wired him 10,000 Brazilian reais (close to $1,700) money that she had been saving for two years. The couple left their home in the town of Vargem Grande Paulista around 5 am for the appointment that was schedule for 9 am. Silveira said that the staff did not permit him to see Alves after the procedure was completed. 'I realized that something was strange by the expressions on the employees' faces, so I opened the door to the room where she would be, but she was no longer there,' Silveira. Silveira made his way to the lobby area, where he noticed a doctor was performing chest compressions on Alves. Paloma Alves underwent a hydrolipo procedure and died after going into cardiac arrest in São Paulo, Brazil on Tuesday. Her husband told Brazilian news outlet G1 that she had contracted the services of the doctor via social media and met him in person for the first time before the procedure Dr. Josias dos Santos told Brazil's TV Globo that his patient, Paloma Alves, has difficulty breathing when she was in the recovery room after undergoing a hydrolipo procedure on Tuesday. The network found that dos Santos has been sued 21 times by patients who have accused him of malpractice Alves was resuscitated and went into cardiac arrest as the ambulance was approaching the hospital. The São Paulo Municipal Health Department said in a statement that Maná Day did not have a license to provide health services. 'No Health License was identified with the municipal health surveillance or even a request for health licensing filed. It was fined and closed for carrying out irregular activity,' it said. Dos Santos told TV Globo that Alves had a shortness of breath within minutes after she was transferred to the recovery room. 'The patient's respiratory distress worsened and she became unconscious, but it only took a few seconds,' dos Santos said. 'We started performing cardiac massage. We started ventilating her with an oxygen mask. When you suffer from a lack of oxygen, you would expect that these maneuvers would help you recover quickly. That didn't happen.' Paloma Alves went into cardiac arrest after having a hydrolipo procedure at a clinic in Brazil and then had went into cardiac arrest as she was being rushed to a local hospital, where she died in the emergency room while doctors were trying to save her life The São Paulo Municipal Health Department found that Maná Day clinic was not licensed to provide health services The network found that other patients had accused him 21 times in the past of medical malpractice. In 2021, a court ordered Dr. Dos Santos to pay a patient 50,000 reais, about $8,400, after a patient underwent an abdominoplasty and a liposculpture in December 2017. The patient had death of body tissue and lost her belly button. However, his lawyer, Lairon Joe, revealed that the cases had been dismissed by courts. 'Dr. Josias has no criminal conviction for medical malpractice,' Joe said. 'And all the cases, the police investigations that were opened, have all been dismissed. So, we will provide the necessary clarifications.' A hydrolipo in an alternative to liposuction that requires a local anesthesia and can last between an hour to two and a half hours. Paloma Alves' husband revealed she spent two years saving close to $1,700 to cover the cost of her hydrolipo procedure In the the procedure, the doctor would inject saline solution with adrenaline and local anesthetic to the area to decrease fat and cellulite and add shape. Patients opt for it because it's considered to be effective and not invasive. 'It was conceived that hydrolipo would be this liposuction, injecting anesthetic, saline solution and adrenaline made with anesthesia, in the doctor's office and with the patient awake,' Dr. Wendell Ugueto told Brazilian news outlet G1 in a 2021 interview. 'Since I have an anesthetic restriction, I can only perform (the procedure) in a few areas,' Ugueto explained. 'It is a surgery that can be a little uncomfortable for the patient. Conventional liposuction, on the other hand, is performed in a hospital environment, and the patient is asleep. It is completely comfortable for the patient and we, as surgeons, can remove much more volume.' The Civil Police's 52nd Police Precinct in São Paulo is investigating the incident. Alves' death comes almost eight weeks after 24-year-old Viviane Monte died after undergoing six plastic surgeries at a medical facility in the northeastern Brazilian city of Sobral. Her boyfriend of six years, Renan Santiago, told Brazilian news outlet G1 that she paid approximately $7,300 for a breast reduction, buttock fat grafting, and liposuctions on her stomach, arms, back and neck. The businessman had the procedures on August 31 and spent 20 days in the intensive care unit at before she passed away last September 26. FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — New York Jets wide receiver Davante Adams sat out practice Thursday with a hip ailment that makes his status for the game Sunday at Buffalo uncertain. Cornerback Sauce Gardner (hamstring), right tackle Morgan Moses (knee) and right guard Alijah Vera-Tucker (ankle) also were sidelined for the Jets' first full practice of the week. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who acknowledged Tuesday he's dealing with “a little MCL” issue in a knee but said “there's no way I'm not playing,” practiced fully. Adams was apparently injured in New York's 19-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday, when he had seven catches for 68 yards and a touchdown. Adams, acquired from Las Vegas in October, has 56 receptions for 719 yards and six touchdowns on 94 targets in nine games for the Jets. He's 72 yards away from his fifth straight 1,000-yard season and sixth of his career. Adams and Rodgers are also tied with Miami's Dan Marino and Mark Clayton for the third-most TD connections (82), including playoffs, by a quarterback-wide receiver duo. Gardner sat out the second half of the loss to the Rams with the hamstring injury and could miss the game against the Bills. He sat out one game after injuring a hamstring against Seattle in Week 14. It's unclear if the injuries are related. Moses and Vera-Tucker have been playing through their ailments the past several weeks. Defensive lineman Quinnen Williams, who missed the game last Sunday with a hamstring injury, was limited Thursday at practice, as were left guard John Simpson (calf), defensive end Haason Reddick (neck), safety Tony Adams (ankle), conerback Michael Carter II (back) and rookie defensive lineman Braiden McGregor (ankle).
