GENEVA (AP) — World Cup sponsor Bank of America teamed with FIFA for a second time Tuesday, signing for the Club World Cup that still has no broadcast deals just over six months before games start. Bank of America became FIFA’s first global banking partner in August and sealed a separate deal for a second event also being played in the United States, two days before the group-stage draw in Miami for the revamped 32-team club event . It features recent European champions Real Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea. “FIFA is going to take America by storm and we’re going to be right at their side,” the bank’s head of marketing, David Tyrie, said in a telephone interview Tuesday. Bank of America joins 2026 World Cup sponsors Hisense and Budweiser brewer AB InBev in separately also backing the club event, and more deals are expected after Saudi Arabia is confirmed next week as the 2034 World Cup host. While games at the next World Cup, co-hosted with Canada and Mexico, will be watched by hundreds of millions globally mostly on free-to-air public networks, the Club World Cup broadcast picture is unclear. FIFA has promised hundreds of millions of dollars in prize money for the 32 clubs to share but is yet to announce any broadcast deals for the month-long tournament. Elliot Cadeau added 12 points and a career-high 12 assists, Drake Powell also scored 12 points and Jalen Washington added 10 for North Carolina (8-5). Newly minted Victorian Liberal leader Brad Battin has declined to reveal whether he personally supports nuclear power as the party at a federal level pushes to have it part of Australia's energy mix. In an interview with Sky News Australia's Kenny Heatley on Monday morning three days after ousting John Pesutto from the state party leadership, Mr Battin was grilled on his stance on nuclear power, including whether he backed a plant in Victoria's La Traobe Valley. The federal coalition in June revealed the Loy Yang power station in the La Trobe Valley was one of seven proposed sites nationwide for its zero-emissions nuclear power plants. Mr Battin said he first wanted to consult with the party room before making public his nuclear position. "I've only been in this role for a few days. The most important part of anything I want to do is making sure the team is involved in those discussions," he said. Pressed to reveal his personal opinion on nuclear power, Mr Battin said: "As I said, I've got to take that back through the party room. "If I make a personal call right now, all that is, (it) becomes policy for the party. So I'm going to go through the process of working within that team. "Our primary focus here in Victoria is ensuring gas stays on and that we can have power and reliable energy here in the state. "Whatever that is in the future, will be a discussion for the party room, and I'll have that discussion with (federal opposition leader) Peter Dutton as well." Mr Battin was asked again whether he could confirm on Sky News Australia whether he was in favour of nuclear power, with energy shaping up as a key battleground in next year's federal election which could be decided by Victoria . "Right now, on this program, I have spoken to Peter exactly how this sits with us and I've got to take it through that party room," he said. "We can't expect a new leader to come out and then put out policies. Even when you say it's a personal opinion, that becomes policy in the media. "I have to actually work within my team. If I'm going to unite them, having those discussions in the media prior to speaking to them would be disrespectful." In June, Mr Pesutto said the Victorian Liberals "have no plans for nuclear as a state opposition". Mr Battin said he spoke briefly with the federal opposition leader after winning the state party leadership on Friday in what was his third attempt at the job, with pair set to meet up in early January. "It's really important that when we sit down we work out what is in the best interests. He has a focus for Australia, I have a focus for Victoria," he said. "So we'll be sitting down with him and talking about what the expectations are with the things that are the most important to our areas, understanding too that a lot of our decisions will have to go back through our shadow cabinet and party room. And Peter's well and truly aware of that." He said he also spoke briefly with Mr Pesutto in the party room after Friday's leadership decision and later sent a message to his predecessor. "I sent him a text and said let's catch up this week sometime. I think he needed that weekend off to have a bit of time with his family as well," Mr Battin said. "It's been a tough time for John, he's a very respected person from the party, he's been there for 30 years. And he deserves the respect from all of us to give him that little bit of a break right now." He added: “His dedication and humility served as an inspiration to many, and I remember with great fondness his visit to the United Kingdom in 1977. “My thoughts and prayers are with President Carter’s family and the American people at this time.” Mr Carter, a former peanut farmer, served one term in the White House between 1977 and 1981 and spent his post-presidency years as a global humanitarian, winning the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. Sir Keir Starmer said Mr Carter had “lived his values in the service of others to the very end” through “decades of selfless public service”. Praising a “lifelong dedication to peace” that saw him win the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002, Sir Keir added: “Motivated by his strong faith and values, President Carter redefined the post-presidency with a remarkable commitment to social justice and human rights at home and abroad.” Tributes to Mr Carter followed the announcement of his death by his family on Sunday, more than a year after he decided to enter hospice care. His son, Chip Carter, said: “My father was a hero, not only to me but to everyone who believes in peace, human rights, and unselfish love.” US President Joe Biden, one of the first elected politicians to endorse Mr Carter’s bid for the presidency in 1976, said the world had “lost an extraordinary leader, statesman and humanitarian”. A moderate democrat born in Plains in October 1924, Mr Carter’s political career took him from the Georgia state senate to the state governorship and, finally, the White House, where he took office as 39th president in the wake of the Watergate scandal and the Vietnam War. His presidency saw economic disruption amid volatile oil prices, along with social tensions at home and challenges abroad including the Iranian revolution that sparked a 444-day hostage crisis at the US embassy in Tehran. But he also brokered the Camp David Accords between Egypt and Israel, which led to a peace treaty between the two countries in 1979. After his defeat in the 1980 presidential election, he worked more than four decades leading The Carter Centre, which he and his late wife Rosalynn co-founded in 1982 to “wage peace, fight disease, and build hope”. It’s no secret that both mobile operating systems – Android and iOS – borrow features from one another from time to time. However, one feature that Apple had failed to implement all these years on iOS was the ability to hide and lock apps. With iOS 18, that has thankfully changed – reaffirming Apple’s push toward privacy and security . This tutorial shows how to hide apps on your iPhone and iPad – and even lock them so that others can’t access them. For this method, you only want to lock an app on your iPhone or iPad instead of hiding it. If you don’t mind others seeing the app but do not want them to access it – perhaps because of sensitive information – follow the steps below: Tap and hold the app you want to lock, and select Require Face ID . Confirm by choosing Require Face ID again. Note: If your iPhone or iPad doesn’t have Face ID and has Touch ID instead, the option will say Require Touch ID . This requires you to scan your face every time you open the app. If you no longer want an app to require Face ID or Touch ID before opening it, tap and hold the app, and select Don’t Require Face ID . If you only want to remove an app from your iPhone’s home screen , tap and hold the app and select Remove App , then choose Remove from Home Screen . While the app is gone from the home screen, it will still be visible in the App Library . That’s not ideal, though, if you also don’t want others to see the app. To completely hide an app on your iPhone or iPad, tap and hold the app you want to lock, and select Require Face ID , then choose Hide and Require Face ID . Once you do this, the app will disappear from your home screen as well as the App Library. Follow the same steps for all the apps you want to hide. Note: Hiding apps disables notifications from those apps. To access hidden apps, swipe to the left on your iPhone’s home screen to access the App Library . Scroll down to the bottom, and tap the Hidden folder. Get access to the folder by using Face ID or Touch ID. Tap the desired app within the folder to launch it. If you no longer wish to keep an app hidden, head to the Hidden folder in the App Library. Tap and hold the app you want to unhide, and choose Don’t Require Face ID to make it visible once again. There may be times when you want an app to not show up in Spotlight Search or see suggestions regarding that app. In those circumstances, follow the steps below: Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad, and tap Apple Intelligence & Siri in the menu. Scroll to the bottom, and select Apps . Find the app, and turn off all the toggles. The app will no longer show up in searches or suggestions but will still continue to be accessible in the App Library. Everyone has private and sensitive information stored in certain apps on their phones. Whether it’s your banking app or the Notes app, hiding or locking it will keep others who use your phone from accessing it.
