The 49ers quarterback did not throw on Wednesday because of shoulder soreness and left Thursday's practice after throwing just a few passes and receiving some treatment. Head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch sounded contrasting tones in recent days when asked about Purdy's potential availability for a crucial game for the 49ers' dwindling playoff hopes. But Lynch's more downbeat assessment, which saw him call Purdy's chances of playing "tenuous" in an interview with KNBR, would appear to be the more accurate one. Purdy missing practice does not necessarily mean he won't give it a go at Lambeau Field on Sunday.
