President-elect Donald Trump has been making declarations about U.S. expansion ahead of his return to the White House next year including turning his focus on both counties and the territory. In a post on X, Trump's middle son shared an image that appeared to be an image that looked like an Amazon shopping cart. In the online cart were Canada, Greenland and the Panama Canal. The image next to it he shared was the 78-year-old smiling down at the shopping cart on on his phone. The younger Trump captioned his post 'We are so back!!!' But while the president-elect may be trolling other foreign leaders at times with his talk of expanding the U.S., some of his recent declarations appear to be serious including threats aimed at Greenland and Panama. It's a move that economists warned would raise costs on American consumers and could be economically devastating to all three countries. In response, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau traveled to Trump's Mar-a-Lago home in Florida to meet with the president-elect in person where Trump suggested according to reports that Canada could become a U.S. state. Since then, the 78-year-old has been trolling Trudeau with social media posts including one of him looking into Canada. He has also referred to the Canadian leader as 'governor' and called for Canada to be the 51st state. Just days ago, he repeated a suggestion in a Truth Social post, even referring to it mockingly as the 'Great State of Canada.' 'For purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity,' he wrote on Truth Social. Trump, 78, made the stark declaration Sunday night in announcement about his nominee for U.S. ambassador to Denmark that the U.S. feels 'ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity' Trump first expressed interest in buying Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark, during his first term. While the president-elect has repeatedly floated the idea, he has not gone into any detail on how the U.S. would go about making the purchase with the people there or paying for it. Palantir Technologies ( PLTR 4.87% ) is one of the hottest stocks of 2024, but I think there is another hot artificial intelligence (AI) software stock that investors should consider as well. AppLovin 's ( APP 4.74% ) stock price is up more than 650% so far this year, far outpacing the stellar 250% gain seen in Palantir's stock (all returns are as of this writing). While Palantir is getting plenty of attention because its data collection, analytics, and AI platform are being used successfully by the U.S. government as well as several commercial entities, AppLovin's business has flown under the radar. The company owns a legacy gaming app business, but its core business involves advertising technology used by mobile gaming companies and others to attract and better monetize users. Let's take a closer look at why investors should consider investing in this stock even after its huge gains this year. AppLovin is seeing huge growth AppLovin has generated spectacular revenue growth since the launch of its new AI-powered adtech platform Axon-2 (introduced in Q2 2023). That growth continued last quarter, when its software revenue surged 66% year over year to $835 million, while its overall revenue climbed 39% to $1.2 billion. Just as important as the revenue growth, the company has also seen a lot of operating leverage in its business as well, which is leading to even stronger profitability growth. Last quarter, gross margins improved to 77.5% from 69.3% a year ago, while it lowered its sales and marketing spending by 3%. This led AppLovin's earnings per share (EPS) to more than quadruple from $0.30 a year ago to $1.25, while its adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization ( EBITDA ) soared 72% to $722 million. Eventually, the company expects to settle into long-term revenue growth of between 20% to 30% from just its gaming customers, although if it can move its adtech platform beyond its core gaming vertical, there is certainly an opportunity for its growth to continue to exceed its long-term target. The company has also said that it can grow beyond 30% a year in the gaming segment if it can start to implement more than one major enhancement to its adtech platform a year. Outside gaming, AppLovin just started piloting its adtech platform within the broader e-commerce sector. It said results thus far are good, and it thinks e-commerce can be a meaningful contributor as early as next year. It will open a broader self-serve platform in the coming quarters. If the company can innovate quickly and move beyond gaming, it should still see continued outsized revenue growth for years to come. Attractive valuation In addition to the continued growth opportunities, AppLovin still trades at an attractive valuation despite the huge gains in its stock this year. Based on next year's analyst estimates, the stock trades at a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) of just over 45 times, while it has a price/earnings-to-growth (PEG) of 1.1 times. A PEG ratio of under 1 is typically viewed as undervalued, but growth stocks will often have PEG multiples well above 1. Thus, I would say that based on its long-term growth prospects, AppLovin still trades at an attractive valuation. Meanwhile, compared to Palantir, AppLovin's valuation is much lower. Palantir trades at 40 times next year's revenue, while AppLovin trades at 45 times next year's earnings. Meanwhile, AppLovin has also been growing its revenue at a faster clip. Last quarter, it grew its overall revenue by 39%, while Palantir grew its revenue by 30%. (The Center Square) – Paula Scanlan is hopeful the narrative around gender ideology is shifting, especially as Republicans prepare for majorities in both chambers of the 119th Congress and a seat in the White House. “I am hopeful that with the majorities now that we will be able to get across the finish line,” Scanlan told The Center Square on Thursday, speaking of more legislation on the way to protect women's spaces. “Obviously, this goes beyond sports ... So ideally, I think that the biggest thing would be to federally pass something that says this is what a woman is.” Scanlan a day earlier was part of a panel where U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kan., announced that Republicans plan to soon introduce legislation to “protect children from transgender medical procedures.” A report from the advocacy group Do No Harm released four weeks before Election Day included documented evidence of such activity being performed on a 7-year-old . “We’ll be introducing the STOP Act soon,” said Marshall . “We are going to use the Commerce Act to punish people who perform any type of surgery, or who use any type of medications on minors.” STOP is an acronym for Safeguarding the Overall Protection of Minors. The panel said that the legislation is an important and necessary step to protect children. Scanlan and Marshall, a host with the American Principles Project, were on the panel alongside U.S. Sen. Scanlan said this shows that public opinion is on the side of her and the panel. “This is really the first time we're seeing more of these people in power stepping up and actually doing the right thing and saying enough is enough” she said. “Now, we are looking at entire teams that are feeling empowered to be able to boycott ... or object to competing against males. It's widespread.” A notable case of that is San Jose State, where Blaire Fleming's participation has led to seven opponents forfeiting rather than playing a women's team that includes a man saying he is a woman. Tuberville and Marshall emphasized they believe the majority of Americans would agree with the proposed legislation. "The American people are sick of this nonsense," Tuberville said . "It’s time we restore some sanity and get common sense back in this country."
