Giants release quarterback Daniel Jones just days after benching him EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The Daniel Jones era in New York is over. The Giants quarterback was granted his release by the team just days after the franchise said it was benching him in favor of third-stringer Tommy DeVito. New York president John Mara said Jones approached the team about releasing him and the club obliged. Mara added he was “disappointed” at the quick dissolution of a once-promising relationship between Jones and the team. Giants coach Brian Daboll benched Jones in favor of DeVito following a loss to the Panthers in Germany that dropped New York's record to 2-8. The lawsuit says the assault left her heavily bruised and suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Red Bull brings wrong rear wing to Las Vegas in mistake that could stall Verstappen's title chances LAS VEGAS (AP) — Max Verstappen is suddenly in jeopardy of being denied a fourth consecutive Formula 1 title Saturday night. Red Bull apparently brought the wrong rear wing to Las Vegas and GPS data showed its two cars to be significantly slower on the straights than both McLaren and Mercedes, which led both practice sessions. Red Bull says it doesn’t have a replacement rear wing in Las Vegas to fix the issue and little chance of getting two flown in from England ahead of the race. MasterChef fans take to social media after The Professional semi-final airs following Gregg Wallace allegations READ: Contestant claims Gregg Wallace 'constantly' made sexual innuendos By KATHERINE LAWTON Published: 23:06 GMT, 2 December 2024 | Updated: 23:18 GMT, 2 December 2024 e-mail View comments MasterChef viewers have slammed the BBC 's decision to include Gregg Wallace in tonight's semi-final. The grocer-turned broadcaster, 60, last week stepped away from hosting the show after nearly 20 years. His absence comes while allegations of inappropriate comments he made towards staff and celebrity guests over 17 years are investigated. The star is accused of making 'inappropriate sexual jokes', asking for the phone numbers of female members of production staff, and undressing in front of and standing 'too close' to women working on his shows. The presenter allegedly even walked naked on set with only a sock on his penis. However, in a move that has shocked some viewers, Wallace has continued to appear on MasterChef: The Professionals , with the programme's semi-final airing tonight. Furious fans took to social media to blast the BBC for not editing Wallace out of the show, despite the presenter stepping down from his role last week. One furious viewer wrote on X: 'I see the BBC is being its usual tone-deaf self. BBC refuses to pull "misogynistic" Gregg Wallace off air.' Another wrote: 'Watching @MasterChefUK and while I've never thought Gregg Wallace brought anything positive to the show I'm finding it near impossible to watch the show.' A third said: 'I was expecting them to have edited Gregg Wallace out though.' Gregg Wallace, 60, has stepped away from hosting MasterChef after nearly 20 years while allegations of inappropriate comments he made towards staff and celebrity guests over 17 years are investigated The BBC have decided to go ahead and broadcast the rest of MasterChef: The Professionals, which will conclude on December 12 Furious fans took to social media to slam the BBC for not editing Wallace out of the show, despite the presenter stepping down from his role last week A fourth penned: 'After the revelations of the last few days I'm finding Gregg Wallace more irritating than usual.' MailOnline has contacted the BBC for comment. A former MasterChef contestant tonight claimed that Wallace 'humiliated' her and drove her to tears with a sexually inappropriate comment during filming. Read More 'If I'd known you had legs like that...': MasterChef contestant 'reveals' Gregg Wallace's comments Jackie Kearney, a chef and author who finished fourth in the BBC hit show in 2011, claimed Wallace made sexual innuendos 'constantly' in front of crew members. Ms Kearney spoke about how Wallace left her breaking down in tears in the toilets after making a lewd joke about his penis. She told Sky News: 'There were several times that he would comment on my legs, or comment on the skirts I was wearing... he made a comment once: "If I'd known you had legs like that, maybe you'd have made it further".' Ms Kearney returned to MasterChef as a guest judge in 2017, where she hoped to impress Wallace and co-host John Torode with her book about vegan food which she published two years prior. But recalling how the interaction went, she claimed: 'I came into the studio and was like, "Hi Gregg, I've got something for you!" And he said, "Oh, is it a present for my c***?''' Ms Kearney said the comment left her feeling 'humiliated' and 'embarrassed' and that she broke down in tears in the toilets. Greg Wallace (pictured) apologised for 'any offence I caused' after his controversial comments on Instagram on the weekend She said she also walked around hating what she was wearing because Wallace had allegedly already made a comment about her legs earlier in the day. Ms Kearney thought that someone would check up on her, but that nobody said anything. She claims that Wallace was mic'ed up when he made the sexual comment. The chef claims that Wallace created an environment where his sexual remarks were 'normalised in way that you would expect to see in a '90s lads mag'. The presenter has defended himself, pinning the blame on 'middle class women of a certain age'. But today he apologised for his controversial comments, admitting he was 'not in a good head space' when he posted the rant. New research found 45 per cent of Brits rely on more than one stream of income Read more: When WFH means working from the hairdresser's By MELODY FLETCHER Published: 16:39 GMT, 24 November 2024 | Updated: 17:02 GMT, 24 November 2024 e-mail 25 View comments Nearly half of British workers are turning to side hustles to boost their salaries - with Gen-Z fuelling a rise in so-called 'portfolio careers'. Research, conducted by Censuswide on 2,000 adults, found 45 per cent of people were relying on a number of diverse income streams to sustain their lifestyle. The trend largely relates to young people, with the average side hustler earning an extra £590 a month outside their salary - close to £7,000 a year in additional income. And with one in five people found to be running multiple side hustles alongside their day job, it is perhaps no surprise that Gen-Z are the most reluctant to return to the office. A poll previously found half of these 16 to 24-year-olds would quit their jobs if they were forced into the office more than three days per week. And Gen-Z is openly a fan of flexible working arrangements, with staff on the clock known to nip out for the odd coffee or two, get on top of house chores or - for some - even take a nap while on company time. But the latest research, published by Sage , found 75 per cent of people in UK believe 'side hustling' while holding down a 9-5 is the 'new normal'. And 43 per cent of under 34s said their boss has allowed them to make changes to their working hours to accommodate their 'side hustles'. One person who found success with the 'portfolio career' method is Natalie Glaze (above) One person who found success with the 'portfolio career' method is Natalie Glaze. Natalie - the founder of Stay Wild Swim and By Glaze - set up both businesses as side hustles while working full time, and describes it as a 'balancing' act. She said: ' I started both of my businesses as side hustles while working full-time, so I understand the hard work and passion that goes into balancing a main job with other ventures.' Natalie said having multiple income streams could well be 'the future of work'. ' Side hustles are the perfect way to dive into something you love without the risk of quitting your day job – and in today’s economy, they’ve become a crucial way to start a business with the safety net of a salary. 'It’s exciting to see that so many people now see side hustles as the future of work, and I can’t wait to see what’s next for this generation of entrepreneurs.' The research found some 71 per cent of those with 'side hustles' view them as a source of financial freedom, with 66 per cent of Gen Z prepared to take on their projects full time. Natalie - the founder of Stay Wild Swim and By Glaze - set up both businesses as side hustles while working full time, and describes it as a 'balancing' act Natalie said having multiple income streams could well be 'the future of work' However, the majority of all age groups would rather keep their main job regardless of how successful their business became. Reselling is by far the most popular 'side hustle', followed by freelance writing, making handmade products, tech support and consulting. Grace Hardy, founder of Hardy Accounting, said she has seen 'firsthand' how Gen-Z is 'embracing side hustles to build new income streams'. 'We’re balancing everything from freelance work to digital reselling alongside our main jobs.' It's no secret that running 'side hustles' must be easier with hybrid working - that is, part time working from home - and this could explain the Gen-Z reluctance to return to the office. Research released in September found that nearly half of young workers would quit their jobs if they were forced into the office more than three days a week. Nearly half of British workers are turning to side hustles to boost their salaries - with Gen-Z fuelling a rise in so-called 'portfolio careers'. Pictured: Stock image In short, the poll revealed growing demands for flexible working, particularly among younger generations. Four in ten (39 per cent) of the 2,000 desk-based employees questioned said they would resign if they were told to give up working from home more than three days a week. But among Gen-Z - 16 to 24-year-olds - the proportion prepared to quit rose to half (49 per cent). A similar number of young workers (52 per cent) believe that going in to the office is a 'waste of their time and money', the research by HR software firm Personio found. And of the 1,000 HR managers questioned, more than half (56 per cent) admitted their staff have been reluctant to get back to their desks since Covid restrictions ended. NFL fans go wild for Panthers quarterback Bryce Young's electric play READ MORE: Vikings stars flawlessly execute famous dance By JAKE NISSE Published: 23:37 GMT, 8 December 2024 | Updated: 23:54 GMT, 8 December 2024 e-mail View comments Bryce Young wowed fans with a highlight-reel play on Sunday as the Panthers quarterback continued his resurgence following his benching earlier this season. The 2023 No. 1 overall pick lost his starting job to veteran Andy Dalton from Weeks 3 to 7, but has looked more composed since in the last six games. And against the Eagles, Young showed the latest sign that he was rounding a corner as he epically escaped a sack to keep Carolina alive late in the game. With the Panthers trailing 22-16 and facing a 3rd-and-11 deep inside their own territory, Young took the snap from inside the end zone, juked out Jalen Carter and shook off Josh Sweat as the linebacker tried to wrap up his leg. The Alabama product then delivered an inch-perfect pass to Xavier Legette to keep his team's drive going with roughly two-and-a-half minutes remaining. While the drive ultimately stalled out at the Eagles' 37-yard-line - leading to a Panthers loss - Young was lauded online for his game-extending play. 'Houdini back there! That’s Alabama Bryce,' another added . And a third said , 'So glad Bryce is starting to find his groove.' Young has certainly shown improvement in the six starts since he returned from his benching, as he's averaging 212.1 passing yards per game, up from 173.4 yards per contest in his 18 starts before. Young has also tossed seven touchdowns in his last six games, as compared with just 11 in the 18 prior. And perhaps most notably, Young is getting rid of the ball quicker, as he's taken just 8 sacks in the last six games. That number was a whopping 68 across his first 18 starts - nearly four per game - as he struggled with his decision-making throughout his rookie season. The Panthers dropped to 3-10 following their narrow loss to the 11-2 Eagles, though they'll be encouraged by Young's continued growth. Matchups against the Cowboys, Cardinals, Buccaneers and Falcons remain for him to show he is the team's quarterback of the future. Epic Aircraft is a manufacturer of general aviation aircraft, mainly offering single-engine turboprop designs. Founded in 2004, the company began manufacturing and selling kits for the Epic LT aircraft. The 6-place kit-built turboprop was intended for private pilots. The manufacturer sold a handful of LTs before filing for bankruptcy in 2009. In 2010, the company was acquired by a new owner, continuing the manufacturing of its kit-built planes. Epic aircraft intended to sell certified complete aircraft during its first phase, which eventually came to fruition in the early 2010s. In 2013, Epic Aircraft stopped offering LT kits and focused on the certification of the Epic E1000 aircraft. The new plane received the Federal Aviation Administration certification in 2019. Epic Aircraft began deliveries of the E1000 in 2020. Epic LT Crew: one Capacity: five passengers Length: 35 ft 10 in (10.92 m) Wingspan: 43 ft (13 m) Height: 12 ft 6 in (3.81 m) Empty weight: 4,000 lb (1,814 kg) Gross weight: 7,300 lb (3,311 kg) Fuel capacity: 288 US gallons (1090 L) standard, 350 US gallons (1324 L) optional Powerplant: 1 × Pratt & Whitney PT6-67A Turboprop, 1,200 shp (890 kW) Cruise speed: 340 knots (390 mph, 630 km/h) max cruise Range: 1,874 NM (2,157 mi, 3,471 km) with optional long-range tanks Service ceiling: 31,000 ft (9,400 m) Time to altitude: 9 minutes to 25,000 ft (7620 m) Epic Aircraft designed the kit-based LT aircraft in Bend, Oregon, to meet the single-engine propeller demand. The low-wing aircraft has a retractable tricycle landing gear and can seat six people. The construction of the aircraft used carbon fiber composites. Powered by a single Pratt & Whitney PT6-67A turboprop engine, generating 1,200 shaft horsepower (890 kW) of takeoff power. The kit aircraft has a range of nearly 1,900 NM (2,150 miles) and flies at a speed of 340 knots (390 mph). The certification plans The company was eager to test the Epic LT prototype and receive comprehensive type certification. In 2004, the company upped its flight test efforts on Epic LT number 14. The aircraft logged over 1,000 flight hours, but the certification could not be completed. By 2009, the aircraft had logged over 2,000 flight test hours, but Epic Aircraft filed bankruptcy before the certification efforts were concluded. In 2010, a Russian company took over Epic Aircraft's ownership and resumed its efforts for a certification-worthy design. Sales of the Epic LT had come to a stall in 2012, forcing the company to discontinue the kit airplane and focus completely on the certifiable Epic E1000. The aircraft received its airworthiness certification from the FAA in early 2019, and the company began deliveries of the new aircraft in 2020. A DIY plane that boasts epic performance. With a usable fuel load of 1,100 lb (500 kg), the aircraft can fly a range of 1,650 NM (3,050 km) and cruise at an altitude of 34,000 feet. The aircraft offers tremendous luxury and comfort thanks to its spacious and soundproof cabin and plenty of storage space. The spacious cockpit and cabin offer ample storage, easy-access convenience features, technologically advanced soundproofing, and best-in-aircraft-class legroom for both pilots and passengers.” Were the delays worth it?
