The Kansas City Chiefs are patiently waiting to get back star running back Isiah Pacheco and defensive end Charles Omenihu. Both have been out for multiple weeks, with Omenihu not having made his 2024 NFL season debut. More news: Chiefs' Andy Reid Offers Injury Update on Isiah Pacheco, Charles Omenihu, Hollywood Brown Both Pacheco and Omenihu returned to practice last week, and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid stated then that the following week would determine their Week 12 playing status. So far, the week leading up to Week 12 has led to Pacheco and Omenihu remaining limited. The #Chiefs say that, just like Wednesday, everybody will work in some capacity. Reserve players Isiah Pacehco and Charles Omenihu were limited on Wednesday. Though every Chiefs player practiced in some capacity, Pacheco and Omenihu remain limited. Being limited in practice does not mean that both can't play on Sunday, but both are coming back from severe injuries. On Wednesday, Reid stated, "We'll see on both those two. Go through practice and see where we're at. Day-by-day type thing." With Pacheco and Omenihu still on a "day-to-day," designation and being limited, they are likely to have to go through significant strides to suit up on Sunday. The Chiefs would be a far more dangerous team with both back on the field, but there is no sense to rush their recovery either. The Chiefs are currently 9-1 on the season, and remain in the driver's seat for the AFC West, along with the entire AFC. They are getting healthy but it would be best not to rush their stars. Pacheco has been out since Week 2 when he fractured his fibula. The fracture was not season-ending, hence his ability to suit up again so soon. Still, he has been working his way back in practice since last week and his limited status might be a precaution for him not to reaggravate his injury. Omenihu has been recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered in the AFC Championship game in 2023. A torn ACL can typically take up to a year to recover from, and his being able to also make it back to the field sooner than a year is fantastic. However, the Chiefs are also taking things slow with their star pass rusher. PMC may delay deworming campaign due to medicine shortageHundreds of prisoners were released from jail as part of the terms of the Good Friday Agreement. The government was lobbied to do more to assist former paramilitaries to get jobs and integrate back into society months after being released from prison in 1998. Declassified files show the then Northern Ireland Office minister, Adam Ingram, resisting the pressure by stating society was “not yet at the stage where all of the shutters could go up”, expressing concerns that ex-prisoners could end up teaching the children of their victims. The Good Friday Agreement in 1998 largely ended decades of violence in Northern Ireland and led to the establishment of the Stormont powersharing Assembly. The deal also saw the release from prison of hundreds of paramilitary prisoners. The issue of how to integrate them back into society was the subject of a meeting in December 1998 between Mr Ingram and Projex 2000, a private sector group which included representatives of ex-prisoners. Among those who attended the meeting for Projex 2000 were John White of the Ulster Democratic Party (UDP), Brendan Mackin of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU), businessman Ken Cleland and Paul Mageean of the Committee on the Administration of Justice (CAJ). A minute of the meeting shows that the minister advised the group to start lobbying the local parties in the Assembly as he said much of the responsibility for what they were concerned about would fall to Stormont. Mr Cleland says the government had committed to providing assistance for politically motivated prisoners in the Good Friday Agreement, but there had been “no tangible signs of this apart from the prisoner releases”. It adds: “The Minister pointed out that it was difficult to avoid comparisons with politically motivated prisoners and ‘ordinary decent criminals’. “There was already a huge reaction in society to the prisoner release programme.” The group raised concerns about the exclusion of former political prisoners from compensation schemes and highlighted difficulties in finding employment, suggesting a partnership between the prisoner groups, the government and the private sector. The minute states: “John White interjected to say that the prisoner groups were also concerned about media reporting that prisoners were getting huge sums of money on leaving prison.” It continues: “Mr Mackin said the reality at present is that prisoners’ groups do not see anything tangible coming from the Good Friday Agreement. “It seemed to him to be a complete waste of resources for prisoners to come out of prison highly educated but unable to get jobs.” The minister responded that the government had “taken a lot of gambles with no payback”. The minute continues: “As an after-thought he (Mr McCleland) added that it was ironic that someone like David Ervine may end up as a Minister in the New Assembly yet would be unable to employ civil service staff who were politically motivated ex-prisoners. “Again, the Minister emphasised that we are not yet at the stage where all of the shutters could go up. “There were legitimate concerns that ex-prisoners could end up for instance teaching the children of their victim.” The minute adds: “He emphasised that every ex-prisoner does not become a good guy so we have to move cautiously.” It says Mr Mageean said it was “ironic that the Government had signed up to the release of several hundred prisoners but yet would not allow them to get a job in somewhere like a passport office”. It continues: “The Minister reminded him that a sizeable part of the Northern Ireland community are not signed up to the (Good Friday Agreement), we have to move carefully; there is a much wider issue here.” As an action point after the meeting, the minister said he would write to all political parties in the Assembly to ask them to nominate someone to deal with the issue of prisoner re-integration.Bongani Zungu has loads of ability but there are issues with the rumoured Kaizer Chiefs midfield maestro target and ex-Bafana Bafana star. He travelled at his peak to maximise his earning potential and experience different countries and cultures in the process. That came to the detriment of his Bafana career, even though that’s not his fault. His tally of 29 caps for South Africa should be far, far greater. Are South African technical staff not doing enough to include overseas-based players in their squads? Undoubtedly gifted, Zungu should have played more of a part for his country. Is that partially down to him? In a nutshell Bongani Zungu, nicknamed Ben10, has 29 Bafana Bafana caps and experience across Europe. He’s strutted his stuff in the top tiers of Scotland, France and Portugal with Glasgow Rangers, Amiens and Vitoria Guimaraes. According to transfermarkt , his stock peaked in January 2018 when he was valued at €3.5m (R67 million). However, it’s been a steady decline since. Zungu departed for Europe in 2026 and jumped around clubs until 2022 when he returned to Sundowns. He made his Bafana debut in 2013 which feels like a long time ago. A step backwards for Zungu at Kaizer Chiefs? Zungu courted controversy during his short spell with Glasgow Rangers under then-manager Steven Gerrard. He was one of five players who breached coronavirus lockdown rules. Zungu was duly dropped and heavily fined. More recently, in October 2023, Zungu was shown red for an awful tackle against TS Galaxy while still a Sundowns player. Off the pitch, Ben10 has never been able to shake a reported ‘Party Boy’ image. Every time we thought Zungu had grown up and was ready to show us his undoubted ability, he mildly disappointed us. At 32, he’s also not getting any younger and his motivation at this stage of his career would have to be a mild concern.
