Breaking News: Japan's Central Bank to Hold Rare Speech and Press Conference, Interest Rate Hike Imminent? Market Expectations Mounting

Florida’s next economic boom: Ocean takes stage for state’s new business strategyYes, we are still occasionally talking about the impact Candace Cameron Bure’s comments about traditional marriage had on her career. After her transition from Hallmark to Great American Family back in 2022, the actress said the channel would “keep traditional marriage at the core,” and that was met with great backlash. Now, after being asked about all that, she opened up about why that time was “really hard” for her. During the final days of the 2024 Christmas schedule , Bure spoke with THR about the films she worked on this year and reflected on headlines she’s made over the last few years. That included her addressing that “traditional marriage” comment. After being asked about her words going viral in 2022 and her Full House co-star Jodie Sweetin’s issues with them , the GAF actress said: It certainly is difficult when talking to media outlets. While we are grateful for media outlets that point people to our channels, there’s still always a risk because the answers can be written out of context. That certainly happened to me when moving over to Great American Family, and it was a really hard time, and to be misunderstood in that way was difficult. There was an explosion of backlash after Bure made this comment. Jojo Siwa called her out , Hilarie Burton did too, and many others also shared their thoughts on the matter. People thought the comments were excluding LGBTQ+ stories on the channel, and GLAAD commented on her words , saying they were “irresponsible and hurtful.” Amid all this, Candace Cameron Bure released a statement , writing that she loves everyone of any “race, creed, sexuality, or political party, including those who have tried to bully [her] with name-calling.” Then, a year later, she noted that she’d “never taken those types of punches before,” and all the attention and backlash surrounding what she said was “an ongoing challenge.” Now, she’s moved forward, and she spoke about how Great American Family has grown in the years since this happened, explaining: But what I will say is that we are a relatively new channel. This is only our fourth year in Christmas. Like any new business, you have your core demographic and what you’re looking for, and you’re going to produce the product that will best suit that audience. Most networks are not trying to be all things to all people. What really differentiates our channel from some of the other ones out there is that we’re not afraid to talk about God and God’s hand in our lives instead of fate or providence. Bure has never shied away from talking about her faith, and her work at GAF centers around it greatly. It’s clear she’s passionate about it, and as she said, she wants to make films that focus on that idea. Now, Candace Cameron Bure has been at Great American Family for years, and she’s established herself as a major star there – as she works as both an actress and producer. So, you can expect to see more movies from her and the network on the 2025 TV schedule , and as more news comes out about these infamous comments and everything that followed, we’ll be sure to keep you posted. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Sam Darnold tossed aside his stoic demeanor for a moment after realizing he was on the videoboard, aggressively twirling a towel to further stoke the crowd's fire after the Minnesota Vikings had pulled away from Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons late in the game. “I just felt the buzz. That was pure passion, pure joy, man,” Darnold said. Darnold added yet another highlight to his brilliant first season with the Vikings, passing for 347 yards and five touchdowns, both career highs, in a 42-21 victory over the foundering Falcons on Sunday to stretch their winning streak to six games. “It just felt like it was one of those days to keep the gas pedal down,” said coach Kevin O'Connell, who enjoyed his team's first 40-point game in three seasons on the job. Darnold passed for 250 yards after halftime to help the Vikings (11-2) break a 21-all tie early in the fourth quarter and stay one game behind NFC North-leading Detroit with a final-week matchup looming with the Lions. Jordan Addison had eight catches for 133 yards and three scores and Justin Jefferson racked up seven receptions for 132 yards and two touchdowns after going the past six games without scoring. “This is something that we want to do and we can do every single week,” Jefferson said. Cousins, whose departure in free agency for Atlanta prompted Minnesota to sign Darnold as a bridge to currently injured rookie J.J. McCarthy, threw two more interceptions without a touchdown in this unhappy homecoming following a mixed six-year run with the Vikings. Booed as he took the field, Cousins and the Falcons (6-7) left with a fourth consecutive loss to tumble out of first place in the NFC South and fall one game behind Tampa Bay. “When you’re playing well you usually aren’t as good as people are telling you when they’re patting you on the back, and if you’re in a rut you’re usually not as bad as people kind of leaving you for dead,” Cousins said. “The reality’s usually somewhere in the middle. You just have to keep playing and see where the dust settles in January.” Cousins went 23 for 37 for 344 yards for the Falcons, who crossed midfield on all nine of their possessions and finished with 496 total yards. He overthrew Ray-Ray McCloud III on fourth down in the first quarter, and the Falcons settled for short field goals just before and right after halftime. Their fate was sealed when McCloud fumbled the kickoff at the 32 after the Vikings went 70 yards in six plays for the go-ahead touchdown pass to Addison, who scored again seven plays later. The Falcons handed the Vikings an earlier touchdown when Kentavious Street was called for defensive holding during a field-goal attempt late in the second quarter, giving Darnold a fresh set of downs before a 12-yard laser to Jefferson on a post route on third-and-6. “You just can’t have the self-inflicted wounds and expect to win football games like we had today,” coach Raheem Morris said. Bijan Robinson had 22 carries for 92 yards and a touchdown and Tyler Allgeier rushed nine times for 63 yards and a score for the Falcons against the NFL’s leading run defense. Cousins, who was picked off four times last week, hesitated as he wound up to throw on first down from the Minnesota 47 in a tie game early in the second quarter and then inexplicably fired a pass straight to Josh Metellus as he sat in a zone in front of Drake London. Cousins has a NFL -most 15 interceptions. Byron Murphy snagged an overthrow for the second one near the goal line with a 35-21 lead and 6:26 left. Darnold, who went 22 for 28 without a turnover-worthy play despite heavy first-half pressure, then directed a seven-play, 98-yard drive to seal it. “I think we grew up a lot today offensively,” O'Connell said. Addison and Jefferson became the first duo in Vikings history to each have 100-plus receiving yards and two-plus touchdown catches in the same game. Addison also became the first Vikings player with three receiving touchdowns in a game since Stefon Diggs caught three from Cousins in 2019. Murphy has six interceptions this season, the most for the Vikings since Jimmy Hitchcock had seven in 1998. Falcons: CB Mike Hughes (knee) was back in the lineup after missing two games. Minnesota's 2018 first-round draft pick returned an interception for a touchdown against Atlanta in his NFL debut here. Vikings: CB Stephon Gilmore (hamstring) and backup OLB Patrick Jones (knee) were out. TE Josh Oliver (wrist/ankle) returned from a two-game absence, and LS Andrew DePaola (hand) and PK Will Reichard (quadriceps) were back from four-game injured reserve stints. Both teams play next Monday night, Dec. 16: Atlanta visits Las Vegas, and Minnesota hosts Chicago. AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/NFL Copyright 2024 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. Out West, the Oklahoma City Thunder have lived up to those expectations so far while the Philadelphia 76ers have been very disappointing in the East. It was thought that Paul George would be the missing key to help the Sixers get over the playoff hump. However, the only team George continuously seems to help out is the Thunder, despite it being five years since he last played for the franchise. PG to LA trade has aged like fine wine... for OKC Back in the summer of 2019, the OKC Thunder and Paul George mutually parted ways as the nine-time All-Star wanted to join forces with Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers. In that trade package , OKC received Danilo Gallinari, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, 2021 first-round pick (Tre Mann), 2022 first-round pick (Jalen Williams), 2023 first-round pick (Jaime Jaquez Jr.), 2023 first-round pick swap, 2024 first-round draft pick (Dillon Jones), 2025 first-round pick swap, 2026 first-round pick. Obviously that trade benefited the Thunder greatly as SGA has turned into one of the top players in the league and JDub has shown he has what it takes to be an All-Star. Moreover, those players helped OKC become the youngest one seed in NBA history last season. However, the major pick to keep an eye out for this season is the 2025 first-round pick swap. In order for the 76ers to get Paul George this year, the Clippers had to include that 2025 pick. That exact pick is currently owned by OKC and is 1-6 protected. More specifically, if that draft pick falls anywhere between one through six, the Sixers own the pick; anything seven and after would convey to the Thunder. MORE: Former NBA All-Star believes current Thunder team is better than the 2012/13 OKC roster With the Sixers having a current record of 3-13 and sitting second to last in the East, that 2025 pick has a great chance at falling in a top lottery spot if Philly keeps up their poor performance. For Loud City, this is massive news. Not only are the Thunder heavy favorites to represent the West in the NBA Finals, but they could go into the 2025 Draft as a top team in the league with extremely high draft picks, which are usually held by bad teams. Whether OKC would want to use that pick to add to their already super young and successful roster or trade it for other assets, it is safe to say a dynasty will be in the making if that Sixers pick falls to the Thunder (and that's all without mentioning the Jazz and Clippers 2025 picks ). Jaden Hardy had a season-high 23 points in his first start of the season for Dallas, which has won five of six. Naji Marshall and Spencer Dinwiddie had 22 points each. Doncic missed his third straight game with a right wrist strain. Jalen Johnson had 28 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawks, who have lost four of five. Trae Young had 18 points and 16 assists. Takeaways Mavs: Dallas lost in overtime at Miami on Sunday night and is in the middle of a 15-game stretch that includes 11 away games. Frontline workers will be asked to serve stints in Government under a push to make the state work like a “start up”. Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Pat McFadden will warn that the Government will fail to deliver if it carries on with business as usual. In a speech in London, he will set out plans for a £100million fund to trial Silicon Valley-style approach to challenges in the public sector. Crack teams will deployed to look at how to drive down use of temporary accommodation in Liverpool and Essex, and improving family support services in Manchester and Sheffield from January. While Mr McFadden will acknowledge "each of these projects is small", he will say "they could rewire the state one test at a time". Tech firm workers will be invited to do a six to twelve-month “tour of duty” in Government to use their skills to help influence reforms. Public service staff like prison governors and social work chiefs will also be invited to take secondments in Whitehall to help ministers deliver Keir Starmer 's plans to change Britain. Mr McFadden will say: "Prison governors, social work heads, directors of children’s services - they are the ones on the ground who can see how things are working, where the obstacles are, and where a policy won’t survive contact with reality. "They have stared the issues and the people that depend on us in the eye, seen how the system has been broken – they have taken the frustrations home with them each week. Now we want them to be part of the solution." It comes after the Prime Minister unveiled six milestones on how voters can hold him to account on key issues like the NHS , crime and education. He will warn: “If we keep governing as usual, we are not going to achieve what we want to achieve." Deputy PM Angela Rayner accepted on Sunday that the public want to see the Government deliver. She said: "I know people are impatient for change, but I also know that people will give us that opportunity and will judge us, and that's why Keir set out the clear guidelines on what people should expect we will deliver."SNP’S lame old excuses for our healthcare crisis are sickening
