(AP) — San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy took part in some light throwing on Monday after missing his first career game because of an injury and the 49ers are hoping he can return this week. Purdy hurt his throwing shoulder during a loss to Seattle on Nov. 17. Purdy underwent two MRIs last week that showed no structural damage. But Purdy he felt discomfort after making a few throws at practice on Thursday and was shut down for the game at Green Bay on Sunday that San Francisco lost 38-10 . That’s why I wanted to come out,” added Rosemarie Hogan who lives within walking distance of Miller Field. The 49ers expected Jon Feliciano back around the midseason point and had designated the veteran offensive lineman for return from IR earlier this month. No activation will take place, however. Feliciano’s knee has not responded well upon a return to practice, Kyle Shanahan said, and ESPN.com’s Nick Wagoner notes the O-lineman will miss the rest of the season. Feliciano will revert to season-ending IR, as the 49ers will not activate him after an IR-return window. Monday marked the 21-day mark since the window opened, forcing the 49ers to make a determination on Feliciano’s status. A starter in seven regular-season games and all three 49ers playoff contests, Feliciano suffered the knee injury during training camp . The 49ers waited to place him on IR until after setting their 53-man roster, so they will not lose one of their injury activations by shutting him down. The injury-plagued team — one that suited up without Nick Bosa , Trent Williams and Brock Purdy in Week 12 — still has four IR-return moves remaining . ATLANTA (AP) — As she checked into a recent flight to Mexico for vacation, Teja Smith chuckled at the idea of joining another . As a Black woman, she just couldn’t see herself helping to replicate the largest act of resistance against first term in January 2017. Even in an election this year where Trump , held rallies featuring and falsely claimed Black migrants in Ohio were eating residents’ , he didn’t just win a second term. He became the first Republican in two decades to clinch the popular vote, although by a small margin. “It’s like the people have spoken and this is what America looks like,” said Smith, the Los Angeles-based founder of the advocacy social media agency, Get Social. “And there’s not too much more fighting that you’re going to be able to do without losing your own sanity.” After Trump was declared the winner over , many politically engaged Black women said they were so dismayed by the outcome that they were reassessing — but not completely abandoning — their enthusiasm for electoral politics and movement organizing. Black women often carry much of the work of getting out the vote in their communities. They had vigorously supported the historic candidacy of Harris, who would have been the first woman of Black and South Asian descent to win the presidency. Harris’ loss spurred a wave of Black women across social media resolving to prioritize themselves, before giving so much to a country that over and over has shown its indifference to their concerns. , a survey of more than 120,000 voters, found that 6 in 10 Black women said the future of democracy in the United States was the single most important factor for their vote this year, a higher share than for other demographic groups. Black women, however, were prevented from voting for decades afterward because of Jim Crow-era literacy tests, poll taxes and laws that blocked the grandchildren of slaves from voting. Most Black women couldn’t vote until the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Black women were among the organizers and counted among the marchers brutalized on the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Alabama, during from Selma to Montgomery that preceded federal legislation. Decades later, Black women were prominent organizers of the Black Lives Matter movement in response to the deaths of Black Americans at the hands of police and vigilantes. But she also hopes that it forces a reckoning for the nation to understand the consequences of not standing in solidarity with Black women. “It could impact things negatively because there isn’t that voice from the most empathetic group,” she said. “I also think it’s going to give other groups an opportunity to step up. ... Rourkela, Nov 24 (PTI) Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday launched the disbursement of money under the state's financial assistance scheme 'Subhadra Yojana' for 20 lakh women. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had unveiled the scheme on September 17. So far, 80 lakh women have received Rs 5,000 as the first instalment of the scheme in phases. The latest disbursement was the third phase, and Majhi launched it from a function held at Sundergarh district. The meeting was attended by Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram, Deputy CM Pravati Parida and Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, among others. Under the scheme, eligible women between 21 and 60 will receive Rs 50,000 over five years till 2028-29. They will get Rs 10,000 annually in two equal instalments, credited directly to their bank accounts. Launching the disbursement, Majhi asked the women present at the function to check their mobile phones for alerts of money being credited into their bank accounts. As the mobile phones beeped, the audience cheered with applause. The deputy CM said the fourth and final phase of the first instalment is likely to be released by the end of December, covering over 1 crore women in total, after physical verification and corrections of discrepancies in applications. "Those who have not received the money will get it in the last phase in December," she said. During his one-day visit to the mineral-rich district, Majhi laid the foundation for 288 projects worth over Rs 212 crore and inaugurated 692 projects developed at Rs 808 crore. In his address, the CM said Sundergarh as the name suggest is "beautiful" and it has a huge tourism potential. He stressed the development of different tourist spots in the district. Attacking the previous BJD government, Majhi alleged that it "utilised" women for political purposes in the name of empowerment. "They were giving interest-free loans while we are providing direct financial assistance," he said. On the sidelines of the function, the CM told reporters that Sundergarh would be included in the proposed North Odisha Development Council (NODC) as promised by the BJP before the elections. However, they remained net buyers in all other segments like stock futures, index futures, and stock options and index options. Overseas investors remained net sellers of Indian equities for the 38th consecutive session on Friday, while domestic institutional investors stayed net buyers for the 13th straight session. Foreign portfolio investors net sold stocks worth Rs 1,278.4 crore, according to provisional data shared by the National Stock Exchange. The DIIs were net buyers of shares worth Rs 1,722.2 crore. In the last five sessions, the FPIs have sold equities worth Rs 13,264.1 crore, while the DIIs purchased shares worth Rs 13,518.6 crore. The FPIs have offloaded stocks worth Rs 40,947.5 crore so far in November, while the DIIs mopped up stocks worth Rs 37,559.1 crore. In October, the FPIs sold stocks worth Rs 1.14 lakh crore, while the DIIs mopped up stocks worth Rs 1.07 lakh crore. In September, the FPIs had bought stocks valued at Rs 15,423.4 crore, while the DIIs purchased stocks worth Rs 31,860.3 crore. Florida State continues torrid star with rout of UMass
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy took part in some light throwing on Monday after missing his first career game because of an injury and the 49ers are hoping he can return this week. Purdy hurt his throwing shoulder during a loss to Seattle on Nov. 17. Purdy underwent two MRIs last week that showed no structural damage. But Purdy he felt discomfort after making a few throws at practice on Thursday and was shut down for the game at Green Bay on Sunday that San Francisco lost 38-10 . Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Purdy made it through the session without pain and will rest on Tuesday and hopefully be able to return to practice on Wednesday as the Niners prepare to play at Buffalo this coming week. “We rested it throughout the weekend hoping that would help,” Shanahan said. “He threw lighter today to see if that rest helps and the rest did help him. So we’ll see again, going through the same things we did last week. We’re going to let him rest all the way up to Wednesday. We’ll see how it feels on Wednesday and then we’ll take the exact same course throughout the week. Hopefully it responds better this week than it did last week with the rest.” Brandon Allen went 17 for 29 for 199 yards with a touchdown, an interception and a lost fumble in his first start since the 2021 season. Allen would play once again if Purdy is unable to go on Sunday at Buffalo.
