For ensuring swift control over any fire outbreak at the railway stations during the forthcoming Mahakumbh-2025, the railways has made extensive arrangements for safety of devotees and tourists. Along with crowd control plan in place, a foolproof arrangement has also been put in place to control any incident of fire at railway stations. For achieving the task, the railways has included many advanced equipment to make its firefighting system more modern, one of which is the Auto Fire Ball, which responds quickly in case of fire. This ball looks like an ordinary ball, but the special powder filled in it is highly effective in extinguishing fire. As soon as it comes in contact with fire, this ball explodes on its own and controls the blaze This technology is also waterproof, so as to ensure that it works in any weather or situation. Along with other firefighting equipment, this auto fire ball would be available at all railway stations along with fire extinguishers, so that any mishap could be dealt with quickly. Senior public relations officer North Central Railway Amit Malaviya said that firefighting booths have been set up at both the ends of the platforms with necessary firefighting equipment which would be manned 24x7 to deal with any untoward incident. “As of now, 1,500 staff, both departmental as well as contractual, have been trained for fire extinguishing. As per the guideline of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), for risk hazard and vulnerability assessment, a joint exercise with state disaster agencies and NDRF has been conducted for all stations of Prayagraj region,” he said. As per Malaviya, mock drills have also been conducted with NDRF under disaster management to deal with any exigency. (File Photo) Baby fun room for children at Cheoki station As part of the preparations for Mahakumbh, the North Central Railway (NCR) has made special arrangements for children along with the elderly and women. Keeping in mind the convenience of passengers, fun rooms and gaming zones are being built for children at Prayagraj and Cheoki railway stations. A baby fun room has been built for children at Cheoki railway station wherein mothers can spend some time with their children away from the crowd. Here children would be provided facilities to play and relax. Also, snacks and other eatable items would also be available for children. Cheoki station superintendent Rajesh Rai informed that work of setting up baby fun room was complete. During Mahakumbh, a gaming zone is being built for children on platform number six of Prayagraj Junction. Many sports equipment will be installed in it for the entertainment of children. This facility will be especially helpful for those passengers who travel with their children. Mock drill at Prayag Jn. stn A mock drill was organised at Prayag Jn station of Northern Railway, Lucknow Division on Monday to assess the efficacy of firefighting equipment. “A mock drill based on fire prevention arrangements was organised at the station where the efficiency and working capacity of the fire extinguishing equipment was thoroughly tested,” said Kuldeep Tiwari, senior divisional commercial manager, Northern Railway, Lucknow. He further informed that during the mock drill, people present were told in detail about the working of the firefighting equipment. Additional divisional railway manager Sachin Verma along with branch heads of other departments, officers of the medical department and a large number of volunteers of the District Crime Prevention Committee and railway employees were present at the mock drill.Cuts to community services are feared as a new poll shows one in three charities unsure of their survival. A poll of 56 leaders and chief executives of key charity and not-for-profit organisations found 37 per cent were more uncertain about their body's future than three years ago. Only 55 per cent of respondents to the survey, conducted by Piazza Research in September, were somewhat or highly confident their organisation's future was in hand. The findings signalled a need for stronger government support, said the Community Council of Australia which commissioned the report. "When more than a third of charities are talking about having an uncertain future, you're highlighting a high level of unmet need," chair Tim Costello said. "That can only mean frustration for charities and the communities they serve." Some 93 per cent of respondents expect the cost of their operations to worsen over the next year. Among the biggest challenges identified are competition for resources such as funding, skilled staff, and volunteers (73 per cent), economic downturns (71 per cent), environmental factors including climate change and natural disasters (56 per cent) and social and demographics trends (52 per cent). There was some hope of technological advancements (27 per cent) and positive attitude shifts from funders (16 per cent) but they were outweighed by broader concerns. The sector employs more than 1.4 million Australians, mobilises 3.5 million volunteers and turns over more than $200 billion each year. Some charities might have to consider withdrawing some of their services to survive, the council's chief executive David Crosbie said. "For years charities have been saying the real costs of providing services to our communities is much higher than the funding being provided," he said. "This new research reinforces previous findings that the biggest issue confronting charities is the lack of support to meet rising costs and increasing demand." The Salvation Army is one charity in particular that is feeling the heat of surging demand amid the festive season. A separate poll of 2004 people by Pureprofile on behalf of the Salvos suggests 6.3 million Australians (29.9 per cent) will struggle to pay their rent or mortgage this Christmas. More than one in three (35.8 per cent) of those surveyed said they will have less people over on Christmas Day due to the cost-of-living crisis and 9.3 per cent are reaching out to charity for help this Christmas, including 54 per cent for the first time. Major Bruce Harmer said the charity had never seen such volume and widespread need across the country in its 140-year history. "It is truly heartbreaking to see the despair and devastating decisions Australians are having to make in order to provide for their families this Christmas," he said. "As we see the devastating results of this research, we are reminded that every number and statistic represents real people, and we see that every day of the year amongst those who reach out to the Salvos for support."

ARLINGTON, Texas, Dec. 16, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Greenway Technologies, Inc. (OTCPINKSHEETS: GWTI), (“Greenway”), is an advanced gas-to-liquids (“GTL”) and gas-to-hydrogen (“GTH”) technology development company. On October 13, 2023, GME Hydro LP (“GME”) and Greenway signed a non-binding letter of intent (“LOI”) under which GME would purchase two patented GWTI H-Reformer TM units (“H-Reformers TM ”). The H-Reformers would be used to convert natural gas (CH 4 ) to hydrogen (H 2 ) for use in electrical power generation. In conjunction with the execution of the agreement, GME committed to make an investment in GWTI via the purchase of restricted stock. Since that time, GME and Greenway (the Parties”) have worked together to develop a definitive agreement to effectuate the terms of the October 13, 2023 LOI. To reaffirm the commitment of the Parties, a new LOI dated December 12, 2024, was executed. Greenway’s two H-Reformer TM units will be configured to produce a daily total of up to 20,000 KG of hydrogen that will fuel reciprocating generators, which are components of a larger power generation system, in quantities sufficient to generate 10 MW of electricity. Greenway’s H-Reformer TM units are scalable to meet small and large hydrogen production specifications by adjusting the unit output production configuration or by “stacking” multiple units. GME will purchase, install, and operate the two H-Reformer TM units at its Johnstown, PA facility, (or at a site to be determined) where the locations would have access to on-site fossil and renewable natural gas. By combining incoming fossil natural gas with 25% renewable natural gas, the project should be eligible for Federal Clean Air H 2 Credits. GME will fully optimize Greenway’s proprietary technology to achieve its goal of a low-cost, on-site clean hydrogen production solution with very low atmospheric carbon, as H-ReformerTM units are compatible with processes that separate carbon from its only hydrogen production bi-product, CO 2 . The valuable liquified carbon will be sold to provide additional revenue and offset operating costs. In a statement, Kevin Jones, President of GWTI, said, “Greenway Technologies has been working diligently on Research and Development over the last ten years to develop and patent processes and procedures to perfect innovative and clean gas-to-hydrogen solutions. Hydrogen shows great promise as a fuel but has been prevented from widespread use due to the prohibitively high price of transportation, whether it be by truck, rail, or an extremely limited pipeline infrastructure. Because natural gas is abundantly available at numerous locations, the winning hydrogen solution was always going to be one that could perform the hydrogen creation at the final site where it is used without carbon generation into the atmosphere. Additionally, other hydrogen-creation processes are either non-scalable, carbon-generating, or too expensive to be practical. The world can truly see the first step in widespread hydrogen production and use, whether it be for power generation, automobile, truck or train fueling stations, or other applications in a small, clean, and previously unimagined price at virtually anywhere there is a natural gas supply. Jones went on to say “Since the time of the original LOI, GME Hydro and GWTI have been investigating the use of additional GWTI technology for a variety of purposes. Research has begun on converting methane produced by municipal waste dumps into hydrogen to fuel additional electrical generation equipment. In addition, GME Hydro and GWTI have been investigating the use of GWTI’s other technology, the G-Reformer TM . By using this technology in conjunction with their projects, the G-Reformer TM units can be configured to create synthetic diesel blend stock and associated liquid chemicals. Finally, GME Hydro and GWTI are investigating using the G-Reformer TM to create methanol, a liquid fuel, in those areas where removal of the created offtake is more easily accomplished as a single liquid”. Methanol is emerging as a clean burning hydrocarbon fuel which has substantial value if created in a low-carbon emitting process. Methanol created using renewable methane is in large demand at premium prices due to worldwide interest in lower carbon standards.” About Greenway Technologies, Inc. Based in Arlington, Texas, the Company, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Greenway Innovative Energy, Inc., is engaged in the research and development of proprietary GTL and GTH syngas conversion systems that can be scaled to meet oil and gas field production requirements, or the requirements of various processes where natural gas is produced or available. The Company’s patented technology has been integrated into its recently completed first-generation commercial G-Reformer TM unit, a unique component used to convert natural gas into synthesis gas (a mixture of Hydrogen and Carbon Monoxide). In the case of hydrogen creation, an additional new technology, the H-Reformer TM , has been created which creates synthesis gas consisting of Hydrogen gas and CO 2 . When combined with an FT reactor and catalyst, G-Reformer TM units can be deployed to process a variety of natural gas streams, including pipeline gas, associated gas, flared gas, vented gas, coal-bed methane, and biomass to produce fuels including gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and methanol as well as valuable chemical outputs. When derived from natural gas, these fuels are incrementally cleaner than conventionally produced oil-based fuels. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani unleashed a long-winded rant against a New York judge on Tuesday, telling reporters that the jurist, appointed by then-President Donald Trump , is an "activist Democrat." "Have you figured out what side he's on?" Giuliani told reporters Tuesday, referring to U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman. "Are you too dumb to see what side he's on?" "I've been a lawyer for 55 years," Giuliani added, according to Politico. "I can figure out what side he's on." Trump nominated Liman to serve on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in May 2018. He was confirmed by the Senate in December 2019 by a vote of 64-29. Giuliani, also a former Trump attorney, added that Liman "doesn't give a damn about the truth. He just gives a damn about being popular." His rant against Liman arrived after the two men were embroiled in a heated back and forth at a pretrial hearing in New York related to a $148 million defamation lawsuit that two former Georgia election workers filed against Giuliani. Liman asked Giuliani in court why he hadn't handed over the title to his Mercedes-Benz convertible to the two election workers, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, as ordered by the court. Giuliani said he had requested a duplicate title for the car but that it hadn't been issued yet. "The implication I have not been diligent about it is totally incorrect," he said. "The implication you make is against me and every implication against me is wrong." "I don't have a car," Giuliani said, according to Politico. "I don't have a credit card. They have put a stop order on, for example, my Social Security account," he added, referring to Freeman and Moss. But Liman cut Giuliani off, telling him, "I permitted Mr. Giuliani to speak. Next time, I will not permit him to speak and the court will have to take action." Giuliani has been consumed by legal troubles since the 2020 election. In July, he was disbarred in New York over efforts to overthrow the election results that year and deliver Trump the White House. The former mayor made "demonstrably false and misleading statements to courts, lawmakers, and the public at large in his capacity as lawyer for former President Donald J. Trump and the Trump campaign in connection with Trump's failed effort at reelection in 2020," the New York appeals court wrote in its ruling. Two months later, Giuliani was disbarred in Washington, D.C. Giuliani also faces criminal cases in Georgia and Arizona over election subversion efforts, and he was also hit with defamation lawsuits from voting technology companies Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic. Newsweek reached out to a Giuliani spokesperson for comment on Tuesday.ORLANDO, Fla. — A glance at the schedule promoted the next event to follow the Knicks and Magic into Kia Center — a WWE wrestling event. And the only reaction from the crowd could have been "how is that any different from the show on display on this night?'' At their best, the Magic turn the games into a defensive dogfight. And now, missing three of their best players? The goal is to drag teams into the gutter with sticks and bats — not much different from the style the Knicks have utilized in recent years. For so much of the night, the game was like a fight. Both sides traded blows and waited to see who would get exhausted first. It was the Knicks who survived, putting together the knockout in the fourth quarter for a 108-85 win, their sixth straight and 16th in their last 20 games. They allowed 31 points and 11-for-39 shooting in the second half. The game was marred by 43 fouls — the Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns sat much of the second half with foul trouble and the Magic's Jalen Suggs played the fourth quarter with five — and three technical fouls. For the Knicks, it only made sense that this was an atmosphere in which Josh Hart would flourish, scoring a season-high 23 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Jalen Brunson had 26 points and nine assists and Mikal Bridges, fresh off his 41-point effort on Wednesday, added 17 points. Towns had 16 points and eight rebounds. The Knicks (21-10) struggled to shake the Magic all night, finally pushing ahead for an eight-point lead entering the fourth quarter and then, helped by a pair of steals, mounting a 9-2 run in the opening 89 seconds of the final period to stretch the lead to 15. The Magic never got their deficit below double-figures again, and the Knicks led by as many as 24. The Magic, playing without Paolo Banchero, who is still rehabbing from a torn oblique, and both Franz Wagner and Mo Wagner, were led by Suggs' 27 points. The first half followed the playbook set forth by coach Jamahl Mosley’s squad in the first two meetings — using physicality to try to muscle the Knicks out of their offensive flow. With 3:54 remaining in the second quarter, Suggs drove to the basket, drawing a foul on Bridges as he made his move. But as he continued to the rim, he delivered an elbow to Towns' mouth, and in the ensuing sequence, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was hit with a technical foul. A replay review resulted in a flagrant 1 technical on Suggs as Towns wiped the blood from his lower lip. The Knicks managed to get to intermission tied at 54-54 after an early surge from Suggs, who scored Orlando’s first 11 points, and Goga Bitadze, who scored the next 11. But it was less stopping scorers than surviving the shoving, grabbing and hacking. “It’s not just Suggs,” Thibodeau said of the Magic’s physical play. "He’s a terrific player. He’s grown a lot, particularly with the injuries they’ve had. But it’s sort of their entire team. He fits perfectly for the way that they play, very aggressive on the ball, physical, and then they have the great length up front, so there’s protection at the rim. I think that’s huge. “It’s the combination of all those things. They have a lot of long wing defenders. Look at the versatility of a guy like [Jonathan] Isaac when he comes in. You can get by the initial part of it and then there’s usually another 7-footer waiting at the rim, so you’ve got to make a good decision when you get in there. That’s the challenge.” Notes & quotes: Thibodeau said Mitchell Robinson’s return, which has been plotted for late January at the soonest, remains without a definitive timeline, but he noted, “Overall he’s doing very well. Still hasn’t been cleared for practice. That’ll be the next step and he’s getting closer. When that is, I’m not sure. There are still some benchmarks he has to get through. But he’s done a terrific job. He’s light. He’s lean. He’s working extremely hard. We just want to make sure we’re patient and let him work through it. I wouldn’t say it’s all-out sprinting, but it’s the next step. There’s jumping. It’s going to be step-by-step. Then full-speed running is probably the next phase. Once we get through that, then contact, and then he’ll probably be cleared for practice.” Steve Popper covers the Knicks for Newsday. He has spent nearly three decades covering the Knicks and the NBA, along with just about every sports team in the New York metropolitan area.Dr Manmohan Singh (1932-2024): The economist who would be PM

In , the league said it posted its most-watched Christmas day slate in five years with an average of 5.25 million viewers across its five games on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, Disney+ and ESPN+. That reportedly adds up to a viewership increase of 84% against last year's Christmas. The biggest game of the day was predictably the one between the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors, or LeBron James and Stephen Curry. That game saw an average 7.76 million viewers with a peak of 8.32 million, the most-watched game in that same five-year span and a 499% increase from last year's window (which was between the Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat. The game was a fun one, with the Lakers blowing a double-digit lead in the final minutes, capped off by game-tying Curry 3-pointer with eight seconds left, then winning on an Austin Reaves layup. The NBA will gladly take all of those numbers, considering it is currently fighting to defend at least part of its hold on Christmas from the most powerful league in the world. The NFL has been attempting to replicate its success with Thanksgiving for a few years now by instituting a slate of games on Christmas, no matter what inconvenient day of the week the holiday falls upon. This year, that day was Wednesday, requiring the league to have four of its teams play on Saturday the previous week to give them at least four day's rest. It still added up to three games in 11 days and , though . This year was also unusual because it was the first time the NFL handed the slate off to Netflix, having already found success ( ) by giving "Thursday Night Football" to a streamer at Amazon. The NFL has so far reported success with its 2024 Christmas viewership, though in Netflix's usual way without the hard numbers you see with Nielsen ratings. Instead of , the league : more than 200 countries watched at least part of its Kansas City Chiefs-Pittsburgh Steelers game that Chiefs-Steelers game was already Netflix's second-most popular "Live" title to date nearly one third of Netflix's global concurrents were watching Chiefs-Steelers Netflix topped the peak concurrent viewers of any Christmas in the past four years For reference, last year's NFL Christmas, which was on a Monday, , trouncing the NBA's 2.85 million that year. When LeBron James proclaimed " " after Wednesday's Lakers game, he was voicing what many in the NBA hope to achieve or preserve. They can at least say this year was a step back in the right direction after some bleak outcomes over the past few years.

NEW YORK (AP) — Walmart's sweeping rollback of its diversity policies is the strongest indication yet of a profound shift taking hold at U.S. companies that are revaluating the legal and political risks associated with bold programs to bolster historically underrepresented groups in business. The followed a string of legal victories by conservative groups that have filed an onslaught of lawsuits challenging corporate and federal programs aimed at elevating minority and women-owned businesses and employees. The risk associated with some of programs crystalized with the election of former President Donald Trump, whose administration is certain to make dismantling diversity, equity and inclusion programs a priority. Trump's incoming deputy chief of policy will be his former adviser , who leads a group called America First Legal that has aggressively challenged corporate DEI policies. “There has been a lot of reassessment of risk looking at programs that could be deemed to constitute reverse discrimination,” said Allan Schweyer, principal researcher the Human Capital Center at the Conference Board. “This is another domino to fall and it is a rather large domino,” he added. Among other changes, Walmart said it will no longer give priority treatment to suppliers owned by women or minorities. The company also will not renew a five-year commitment for a racial equity center set up in 2020 after the police killing of George Floyd. And it pulled out of a . Schweyer said the biggest trigger for companies making such changes is simply a reassessment of their legal risk exposure, which began after that ended affirmative action in college admissions. Since then, conservative groups using similar arguments have secured court victories against various diversity programs, especially those that steer contracts to minority or women-owned businesses. Most recently, the conservative Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty won a victory in a case against the U.S. Department of Transportation over its use of a program that gives priority to minority-owned businesses when it awards contracts. Companies are seeing a big legal risk in continuing with DEI efforts, said Dan Lennington, a deputy counsel at the institute. His organization says it has identified more than 60 programs in the federal government that it considers discriminatory, he said. “We have a legal landscape within the entire federal government, all three branches -- the U.S. Supreme Court, the Congress and the President -- are all now firmly pointed in the direction towards equality of individuals and individualized treatment of all Americans, instead of diversity, equity and inclusion treating people as members of racial groups,” Lennington said. The Trump administration is also likely to take direct aim at DEI initiatives through executive orders and other policies that affect private companies, especially federal contractors. “The impact of the election on DEI policies is huge. It can’t be overstated,” said Jason Schwartz, co-chair of the Labor & Employment Practice Group at law firm Gibson Dunn. With Miller returning to the White House, rolling back DEI initiatives is likely to be a priority, Schwartz said. “Companies are trying to strike the right balance to make clear they’ve got an inclusive workplace where everyone is welcome, and they want to get the best talent, while at the same time trying not to alienate various parts of their employees and customer base who might feel one way or the other. It’s a virtually impossible dilemma,” Schwartz said. A recent survey by Pew Research Center showed that workers are divided on the merits of DEI policies. While still broadly popular, the share of workers who said focusing on workplace diversity was mostly a good thing fell to 52% in the November survey, compared to 56% in a similar survey in February 2023. Rachel Minkin, a research associated at Pew called it a small but significant shift in short amount of time. There will be more companies pulling back from their DEI policies, but it likely won’t be a retreat across the board, said David Glasgow, executive director of the Meltzer Center for Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging at New York University. “There are vastly more companies that are sticking with DEI," Glasgow said. "The only reason you don’t hear about it is most of them are doing it by stealth. They’re putting their heads down and doing DEI work and hoping not to attract attention.” Glasgow advises organizations to stick to their own core values, because attitudes toward the topic can change quickly in the span of four years. “It’s going to leave them looking a little bit weak if there’s a kind of flip-flopping, depending on whichever direction the political winds are blowing,” he said. One reason DEI programs exist is because without those programs, companies may be vulnerable to lawsuits for traditional discrimination. “Really think carefully about the risks in all directions on this topic,” Glasgow said. Walmart confirmed will no longer consider race and gender as a litmus test to improve diversity when it offers supplier contracts. Last fiscal year, Walmart said it spent more than $13 billion on minority, women or veteran-owned good and service suppliers. It was unclear how its relationships with such business would change going forward. Organizations that that have partnered with Walmart on its diversity initiatives offered a cautious response. The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, a non-profit that last year named Walmart one of America's top corporation for women-owned enterprises, said it was still evaluating the impact of Walmart's announcement. Pamela Prince-Eason, the president and CEO of the organization, said she hoped Walmart's need to cater to its diverse customer base will continue to drive contracts to women-owned suppliers even if the company no longer has explicit dollar goals. “I suspect Walmart will continue to have one of the most inclusive supply chains in the World,” Prince-Eason wrote. “Any retailer's ability to serve the communities they operate in will continue to value understanding their customers, (many of which are women), in order to better provide products and services desired and no one understands customers better than Walmart." Walmart's announcement came after the company spoke directly with conservative political commentator and activist Robby Starbuck, who has been going after corporate DEI policies, calling out individual companies on the social media platform X. Several of those companies have subsequently announced that they are pulling back their initiatives, including , Harley-Davidson, and . Walmart confirmed to The Associated Press that it will better monitor its third-party marketplace items to make sure they don’t feature sexual and transgender products aimed at minors. The company also will stop participating in the Human Rights Campaign’s annual benchmark index that measures workplace inclusion for LGBTQ+ employees. A Walmart spokesperson added that some of the changes were already in progress and not as a result of conversations that it had with Starbuck. RaShawn “Shawnie” Hawkins, senior director of the HRC Foundation’s Workplace Equality Program, said companies that “abandon” their commitments workplace inclusion policies “are shirking their responsibility to their employees, consumers, and shareholders.” She said the buying power of LGBTQ customers is powerful and noted that the index will have record participation of more than 1,400 companies in 2025.Walmart’s DEI rollback signals a profound shift in the wake of Trump’s election victoryA 9th telecoms firm has been hit by a massive Chinese espionage campaign, the White House says( MENAFN - GetNews) "The major players operating in this market are Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc.
