However, in the interim, Ball also said he's received offers from teams overseas. The conversation begins at 11:17, after the Chicago Sky star and podcast host asked if Ball would play overseas again. "I've been thinking about it, for real," Ball said. "I want to get a call from the G League, just so I can open them doors up." Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball then interrupted, saying that his younger brother isn't going overseas. Reese then said it would be "legendary" if the three of them could play on the same team. LiAngelo Ball then replied, saying that's why he's trying to go to the G League and open doors. The 26-year-old Ball played for Prienai of the Lithuanian Basketball League during the 2017-18 season along with his younger brother, LaMelo Ball, now a superstar with the Charlotte Hornets. He later played 19 games for the Hornets' G-League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm, over the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. Ball then played two games with Mexican professional team Astros de Jalisco in March 2024, but he suffered a left ankle injury that ended his campaign with them. Brothers have played on the same NBA team in the past, including Franz and Moe Wagner of the Orlando Magic presently. A trio of brothers have played in the NBA at the same time. The Holidays (Jrue, Aaron and Justin) and Antetokounmpos (Giannis, Thanasis and Kostas) played in the same game. But no brother trio has ever played for the same team at the same time. In theory, impending free agent Lonzo Ball would have to sign with the Hornets next offseason. LaMelo Ball is currently thriving in Charlotte on a long-term deal, averaging 31.0 points per game. LiAngelo Ball would obviously have to find his way to the league. It's been a tough road for him so far trying to make the NBA, although it's clear his dream is still alive. Perhaps he needs to ultimately take an overseas offer and prove himself before trying to make the G League. It looks like a long road, but it would be a great story if he's able to climb that mountain and get this done. His unbridled enthusiasm for the idea is there, and now he has to execute the plan.
Yolo County law enforcement officers conducted compliance checks and address verifications on more than 300 registered sex offenders last week, finding most in compliance with the terms of their release. Called “Operation Vigilance,” the program began 15 years ago with the goal of protecting Yolo County citizens by ensuring that county residents who must register as sex offenders are complying with all laws and applicable parole or probation directives. More than 60 law-enforcement personnel from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Yolo County Probation Department, Woodland Parole Unit, California Department of Justice, U.S. Courts Federal Probation, Yolo County District Attorney’s Office, Yolo County Sheriff’s Office, and the Davis, Woodland, Winters and West Sacramento police departments participated in the joint operation, with support from the Yolo County IT GIS Division. Law-enforcement personnel went to the residence on file of every registered sex offender with a physical address in Yolo County. Many of the individuals required to register had prior convictions for rape, child molestation or possession of child pornography. About five percent of the county’s registered sex offenders were found to be out of compliance with their registration requirements, which will result in additional investigation by law enforcement. Four offenders on parole were arrested for various violations. A unique aspect of Operation Vigilance is that during the home visits, forensic examiners search the registrants’ computers, smartphones and other digital storage devices for potential violations. Computer forensic investigators from the Yolo County DA’s High Technology Unit and examiners from other participating agencies worked together to conduct these specialized searches. Additionally, the CDCR provided eight K-9 officers with canines trained specifically to detect electronics to enhance these searches. During the operation, 92 electronic devices were searched, with another 16 electronic items were seized for further forensic examination. “Operation Vigilance is an example of Yolo County law enforcement’s commitment to collaboration,” Yolo County Sheriff Tom Lopez said. “I am proud of the dedicated group of professionals who carried out this mission in an effort to keep our communities safe.” Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig praised the efforts of Yolo County law enforcement agencies who continuously monitor these individuals. “We conducted a compliance check of 100 percent of the sex offenders that have a permanent address, and the good news is that 95 percent were in compliance,” Reisig said. “Operation Vigilance continues to serve as an additional deterrent to those who must register as sex offenders who may be prone to re-offend.”Tyrese Hunter tossed in a game-high 26 points to lead Memphis to a 99-97 upset victory over No. 2 UConn on Monday in the first round of the Maui Invitational in Lahaina, Hawaii. The Buccaneers led for the last four minutes of the first half and deep into the second half before a 3-pointer from Austin Swartz gave Miami a 76-75 lead with 3 minutes left in the game. A three-point play by Lynn Kidd gave the Hurricanes a 79-75 lead with 2:11 remaining. Berry hit a 3-pointer to make it 79-78 and Johnson followed with a 3 that gave the Buccaneers an 81-79 lead. Kidd missed in the paint for Miami but came up with a steal a few seconds later. With 15 seconds left, Swartz missed a 3-pointer and the Buccaneers rebounded. Miami put Berry on the line and he made both free throws for a four-point lead with 11 seconds remaining. Miami's Jalen Blackmon missed a 3-pointer with 8 seconds left, the Hurricanes' A.J. The transactions mean that the Sharks currently have 14 forwards, six defensemen, and three goalies: Mackenzie Blackwood, Vitek Vanecek, and rookie Yaroslav Askarov. Sturm’s return to the Sharks’ active roster was believed to be imminent after he showed signs of improvement last week and practiced with the team on Sunday. He also took part in the Sharks’ morning skate on Monday, when he was officially considered a game-time decision by coach Ryan Warsofsky. The Sharks play the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night in the second game of a four-game homestand. Warsofsky did not say who his starting goalie would be. Warsofsky said he had a few players who were “nicked up” and considered game-time decisions, although it would be a surprise not to see Sturm, a mainstay as the Sharks’ fourth-line center, play against the Kings. Attackers - possibly China's Salt Typhoon cyber-espionage crew - compromised an unnamed wireline provider's network and used this access to try to break into T-Mobile US systems multiple times over the past few weeks, according to its Chief Security Officer Jeff Simon. Simon was among the telecom execs who met White House officials last week to discuss the recent spate of Chinese intrusions into telecoms networks. Today, the un-carrier's security boss took a victory lap around his fellow operators, and detailed how T-Mo thwarted the attacks from advancing and disrupting services. Salt Typhoon compromised "multiple" US telcos in its extensive snooping campaign, and this allegedly included Verizon, AT&T, and Lumen Technologies , although all three have thus far declined to comment. According to the Feds, the crew compromised systems used for performing communications wiretapping for law enforcement, and stole customers' call records, phone calls, and texts - including private communications between government officials - during this espionage endeavor. However, "this is not the case at T-Mobile," Simon said in a write-up. The attackers (T-Mob can't definitely attribute these to Salt Typhoon) did not access any sensitive customer data, such as calls, voicemail messages, and texts, he added. While the carrier did detect "attempts to infiltrate our systems by bad actors," according to Simon, "we quickly severed connectivity to the [wireline] provider's network as we believe it was – and may still be – compromised." T-Mobile US hasn't seen any previous attempts like this, and as of now, the miscreants appear to have been kicked out of the mobile carrier's network, we're told. "Simply put, our defenses worked as designed," Simon said. "Other providers may be seeing different outcomes." It's a welcome reverse course for T-Mo, which has had its security breached at least seven times since 2018. In September, the telco agreed to fork out $31.5 million to improve its cybersecurity and pay a civil penalty after a series of network intrusions affected tens of millions of customers.
