To wrap up what has already been a wild and crazy Week 16 slate of games, the Green Bay Packers play host to the New Orleans Saints on "Monday Night Football." The Packers got back in the win column last week and have now taken four of their last five. They're too far behind to swoop in and take first place in the NFC North, but they can still try to vault themselves higher in the wild card standings by going 3-0 to finish the regular season. The Saints are playing out the string on a lost season, but they do have a chance to ruin some opponents' seasons down the stretch of this year. Maybe not next week against the Raiders , but Monday night against the Packers and in Week 18 against the Buccaneers , they can really throw a wrench into somebody's plans. When the Packers have the ball Honestly, the Packers should be able to find offensive success however they want it on Monday night. Few teams are running the ball more effectively at the moment. Josh Jacobs is mowing down opposing defensive lines to the tune of a 50.6% rushing success rate. He's got 1,147 yards and 12 touchdowns. The offensive line is playing well and clearing more than enough space for him ands Chris Brooks and Emanuel Wilson to make their way to the second level against a Saints defense yielding 4.9 yards per carry -- the second-worst mark in the NFL. Jordan Love is apparently hitting his stride: He's completed 68.7% of his passes at an average of 9.9 yards per attempt, with eight touchdowns and just one interception across Green Bay's last five games. Seemingly every week, it's a different pass-catcher stepping up. Sometimes it might be Tucker Kraft , sometimes it might be Jayden Reed , sometimes it might be Romeo Doubs . Who knows, one of these weeks it might actually be Dontayvion Wicks . And New Orleans has allowed more passing yards than all but four other teams, despite having played one fewer game than everyone else except for Green Bay. In other words, it's wheels up on this Packers offense. Prediction New Orleans is just not in any kind of shape to compete with this Packers team at the moment. AN ex-Tennent’s Brewery apprentice who pulled pints at Westminster has been exposed as the second Scots mercenary fighting for Russia. Jay Fraser, 24, defied family in Dunblane, Stirlingshire, to join Vladimir Putin’s forces in Ukraine. A propaganda video shows him in military gear with a Russian flag cap, left. He said: “I burned all my bridges and came here.” In one video from the frontline he says: “I believe this is a war not only between Russia and Ukraine, but also a war between Eastern and Western civilisation.” According to the translation, he adds: “Eastern civilisation is the correct one. And, accordingly, I have decided to take a direct part on your side, so to speak, for values.” He claimed Britain was “extremely aggressive” to Russia. Fraser is not the first Scot to become a mercenary for Russia. Earlier this month we told how fellow Scot Ross McElvenny, 25, from Newton Mearns, Glasgow, lost an eye while fighting for Putin. Fraser, once an apprentice with Tennent’s in Dennistoun, Glasgow, is understood to have grown up in Dunblane, Stirlingshire. It has been a year of adjusting for North Dakota State Junior Guard Brennan Watkins, who has found a new home in Fargo after two seasons at VMI. "It's different in the stand point that I get to just focus on basketball more. At VMI there was military, a lot of academics and then basketball was kind of an after thought. Obviously there is time for academics but I have more time to be in the gym and get more shots up," said Watkins looking back at his time out east. ADVERTISEMENT As the Missouri native navigates his first season with the green and gold, Watkins also has to adjust to some new headgear after a gruesome injury in the game against Weber State earlier this season. "I didn't even know where I got hit. I just knew there was pain radiating around my face. My reaction was to just put my hands to my face. I kind of took my hands away and my hands were just completely filled with blood and I was like oh no that's not good" he said. Watkins suffered a compound fracture breaking his nose in two places. "When I was at the game the team doctor readjusted it partially there and they said it was too swollen to completely adjust it. I think once I go back to the doctor they are going to adjust it a second time too. There is not pain but it is difficult to breathe. I'm not really getting as much airflow through my nose as I am used to" said Watkins describing his challenges with the broken nose. Despite the injury, Watkins hasn't missed a game or a beat becoming the "Masked Man" for the Bison. "It's completely different. I can't really see out of my peripherals. Once I start to sweat the clear mask starts to fog up so that creates another problem. It's truly difficult. I don't think people understand how much of a difference it makes," he said. "Brennan has always been a really talented basketball player. Gifted offensive player and we have challenged him on the little things, the winning plays and he is starting to understand those and execute those things and that's the next step for him," said NDSU Head Coach, Dave Richman. The request came as TikTok and the Biden administration filed opposing briefs to the court, in which the company argued the court should strike down a law that could ban the platform by Jan. 19 while the government emphasized its position that the statute is needed to eliminate a national security risk. “President Trump takes no position on the underlying merits of this dispute. Instead, he respectfully requests that the Court consider staying the Act’s deadline for divestment of January 19, 2025, while it considers the merits of this case,” said Trump’s amicus brief, which supported neither party in the case. The filings come ahead of oral arguments scheduled for Jan. 10 on whether the law, which requires TikTok to divest from its China-based parent company or face a ban, unlawfully restricts speech in violation of the First Amendment. Earlier this month, a panel of three federal judges on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit unanimously upheld the statute , leading TikTok to appeal the case to the Supreme Court. He opened the year on the injured list with a injury to middle finger of his pitching hand. He didn’t rejoin the Guardians’ bullpen until May 6 only to have his season end on July 10 because of pain in his left shoulder. The 6-6, 245-pound Hentges eventually had surgery to repair damage to the capsurel and labrum of his left shyoulder. The surgery was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Sept. 18. The recovery time for Hentges is expected to be 14 to 19 months. Hentges, 28, was a fourth round pick of Cleveland’s in 2014. His best season came in 2022 when he went 3-2 with a 2.32 ERA in 57 games. He struck out 72 and walked 19 in 62 innings. The opposition hit .186 against him. In the 2022 postseason Hentges went 1-0 with a 2.84 ERA in three appearances against the Rays and Yankees. Josh Naylor, Steven Kwan, Lane Thomas, Nick Sandlin and Ben Lively were all eligible for arbitration.
