PHILADELPHIA — Jalen Hurts is still in the NFL’s concussion protocol, forcing the Philadelphia Eagles to play against Dallas without their star quarterback. The Eagles will turn to backup Kenny Pickett on Sunday because Hurts is still dealing with the lingering effects of a concussion suffered against Washington. Hurts was injured early at Washington after his head slammed against the ground on one run and he was hit in the helmet by Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu at the end of another. Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said the Eagles would lean on the medical staff on a daily basis to know where Hurts — who threw two touchdown passes and ran for a pair of scores in the first meeting against Dallas in November — was in his recovery from the head injury. The 26-year-old Hurts did not practice this week, leaving Pickett — who suffered a rib injury in relief action against the Commanders — in line for his first start as an Eagle. Pickett, a former Steeler, was 14 of 24 for 143 yards against the Commanders, throwing a touchdown pass to A.J. Brown and an interception. Pickett is from New Jersey and said when he was acquired from Pittsburgh that he had “great memories” of going to games at Lincoln Financial Field with his dad and grandfather since he was 5. The chance to run out of the home team tunnel — which he could get Sunday if he’s the starting QB — left him absolutely delighted. “It’s a big opportunity,” Pickett said this week. “I’ve been working hard to stay ready. I felt like I was in a good position last game with my preparation. Now, having a week to practice, I’ll feel even better going into the stadium.” Pickett, a first-round pick out of Pitt in 2022, went 14-10 as a starter for the Steelers. The Eagles will bump third-stringer Tanner McKee to the backup spot. The Eagles also signed QB Ian Book this week to the practice squad.Matthew McConaughey Will Dispense ‘Lyrics of Livin’’ in New Weekly Newsletter

The Ursid meteor shower is happening from December 17 to December 24, 2024, and it will be the last major meteor shower of the year. The best time to see it will be around December 23, when the shower is expected to peak. The Ursid meteor shower occurs once a year and was first observed in the early 1900s by British astronomer William F. Denning. Although the winter air and a 54% full moon may make it harder to see the meteors clearly, there are a few simple steps you can follow to enjoy this natural display. According to Robert Lunsford, fireball report coordinator for the American Meteor Society, the best time to watch the shower will be from 4 to 5 AM ET on Sunday, December 23 (2 to 3 PM IST). For people in North America, midnight to early morning is the best time to catch the meteors. If you stay awake and watch closely, you could see up to 10 meteors per hour. The best part is, you don’t need any special equipment since the meteors are visible to the naked eye. pic.twitter.com/pKZi0ZuzgF December 22, 2024 To get the best view of the meteors, face north with the moon behind you. Lie back comfortably and look halfway up in the sky so the horizon is at the bottom of your view. If there are trees or buildings in your way, try looking a bit higher. The lower parts of the sky are thicker, and that’s where the most meteors will appear. If you miss the Ursid meteor shower due to sleep or cloudy skies, don’t worry. The Quadrantid meteor shower will be next, starting on December 26 and peaking on January 3. The Quadrantids will be easier to see since the moon will only be 11% full, making it brighter and clearer.Omar Abdullah underlines importance of using south Indian cinema to promote J-K's natural beautyPM Modi discusses strengthening ties with Emir of Kuwait, invites him to visit India
