Breanna Rowley, 22, is charged with homicide, vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident causing death, endangering an injured victim, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, obstructing the administration of law, hindering apprehension and tampering with evidence in the death of Caroline Bump, 21, of Millville. The ruling came following a detention hearing before Atlantic County Superior Court Judge Joseph Levin. The case was transferred from Cumberland County to Atlantic due to Bump’s previous employment with the judiciary in Cumberland, court officials said. Police responded to Glenside Road in Millville at 11:15 p.m. Oct. 22 for a report of a woman, identified as Bump, who was lying in the roadway either deceased or severely injured. Bump was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The victim was knocked out of her shoes and her clothes were knocked off her body. The suspect vehicle didn’t stop and drove away from the area.” A witness told investigators Rowley picked Bump up in the Infiniti, which was registered to her mother, a few hours before the killing. Surveillance video also showed the two inside a Wawa in Millville about two hours before the incident, Snock said. Rowley’s vehicle, with heavy windshield damage, was located in a field in Monroeville, Salem County two days after the incident. Snock said before Bump was killed, cellphone records showed Rowley had made arrangements with a glass company to have the windshield fixed. Breanna Rowley, 22, of Vineland was charged Thursday in the death of Caroline Bump, 21, of Millville, whom police allege she struck with her vehicle and left her at the scene. “The call took place within 12 to 14 hours of the incident occurring,” Snock said. “She provided an address for a residence adjacent to where the car was found. She was known to frequent the house next door to the farm because her family member stayed there. Footage from a Ring camera showed a customer representative from the glass repair company arriving at that residence two days later, asking for Breanna and indicating he was there to fix the windshield on a car.” Wayne Powell, Rowley’s attorney, contested probable cause on the homicide charges, arguing there isn’t any evidence to show Rowley intended to kill Bump. “I take the position that the vehicle wasn’t moving rapidly because the defendant wanted to harm the victim,” Powell said. “To the contrary, it was the defendant trying to get to the victim’s home before she got there. That’s why after this happened, she drove to the cul-de-sac to where the victim resided and continued to contact her by phone. She had no idea the person that was struck on a road was the victim. Instead of going back and rendering aid, she panicked and left. Her conduct is chargeable conduct, but it is not evidence of murder. It seems to be consistent with a reckless homicide.” Rowley’s prior criminal record includes charges of aggravated assault and assault on a law enforcement officer from 2022. The victim in the aggravated assault case was Bump, Snock said. Due to the nature of the current charges and the possible life sentence if she were to be convicted, the state pushed for Rowley to remain in jail. “The defendant has the most serious charges we deal with in the judiciary,” Snock said. Powell argued his client, who lives with her parents and has not missed any court dates, could be released with strict conditions, but Levin agreed with the state and ordered Rowley to stay in jail. Rowley is due back in court Jan. 10 for a preindictment conference. Feeling a tinge of regret for not investing in bitcoin as it approaches $100,000? Charles Schwab's incoming CEO is in the same boat. "Crypto has certainly caught many's attention, and they've made a lot of money doing it," Rick Wurster, the bank's current president, told in a Thursday interview. "I have not bought crypto, and now I feel silly." Wurster explained why he's been reluctant to invest in crypto. "Well, I think what's holding me back is just a question around the true value of crypto," he said. "I like to invest in stocks, and with stocks there's cash flows you can rely upon, there's dividends that accrue to you. With crypto, it's less certain what that will be and it's less certain how to value it." Wurster said that he supports clients who want to invest in crypto, which has soared to new highs following Donald Trump's reelection. Bitcoin was trading hundreds of dollars away from the $100,000 mark on Friday as Trump reportedly considers candidates for a new " " in his administration. "I've talked to a lot of our investors who tell me I'm completely missing the boat and tell me all the great things about crypto, and you know what? They've been right, not me, because it keeps going up," Wurster said. Firms, including , are optimistic about another crypto boom with hopes of under the Trump administration, as opposed to the stricter regulatory environment under Biden. Although Schwab already offers crypto-linked ETFs and crypto futures, Wurster said the company will move toward spot trading, which would help it compete directly in the sector with firms like Fidelity Investments and Robinhood Markets. "We will get into spot crypto when the regulatory environment changes, and we do anticipate that it will change, and we're getting ready for that eventuality," Wurster said. Read the original article onSupermajor Shell’s reportedly successful appraisal program at the Taroom Trough could pry the play open to ease east coast gas woes. A common theme in resources exploration in frontier regions is that things only really take off when a major player decides to go all in. Not only does such a decision validate the region’s prospectivity, the entry of major companies typically brings services companies knocking on the door to peddle their wares. This is hugely positive for junior explorers operating in the same region. Having a measure of validation from a major makes it easier to sell one’s project to potential investors while the availability of rigs and other equipment saves on having to pay mobilisation costs associated with moving them from other regions or even overseas. Shell’s game in the Taroom Trough According to industry sources, this is exactly what Anglo-Dutch supermajor Shell is bringing to the Taroom Trough within the southern Bowen Basin, Queensland. While the tight-lipped £160bn ($309bn) London-headquartered company hasn’t outright said anything to the effect, there are plenty of signs that its exploration and appraisal program is going well. Media outlets first reported in September that Shell was flaring gas from one of the three appraisal wells it had drilled in Taroom Trough, which quickly led to speculation that it might have confirmed its prospectivity. Flaring – the burning of methane that would otherwise escape into the atmosphere and cause even more of an environmental headache – typically only occurs when there’s natural gas to spare. A bigger flare translates to more gas flow and it seems that said flare at Shell’s well is pretty significant. Stockhead’s sources have now indicated that the third appraisal well, which is believed to include a 1000m horizontal section through the target reservoir, was indeed tested and flowed gas strongly. Shell has also reportedly committed to a long-term development program that includes drilling and completing multiple wells and has lined up or is lining up the services and contracting required to do so. Opening the play Major players don’t commit to such moves without good reason, so if Shell is proceeding with a development program at the Taroom Trough, it has clearly met the supermajor’s standards for commerciality. This could in turn go a long way towards alleviating the Australian Energy Market Operator’s forecasted gas supply crunch on the east coast. As MST head of energy research Saul Kavonic told Stockhead at the beginning of this month, the Taroom Trough has the potential to add multi trillion cubic feet of new gas supply to the east coast from an area that is close to existing infrastructure. It also places juniors operating in the region in an even stronger position. Operators in the Taroom Trough. Pic: Omega Oil and Gas After stumbling in the first half of October after production testing of its Daydream-2 vertical well resulted in lower gas flow rates than previously measured stabilised gas flow rates, Elixir Energy (ASX:EXR) has dusted itself off and continued to progress its Taroom Trough activities. The lower flow rates, which it attributed to either the multiple open and closures of the well or to adverse reactions to fluids introduced into the wellbore, didn’t prevent it from executing a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) to investigate the potential for developing gas infrastructure to support production for its Grandis project. It noted that the issues seen in Daydream-2 are commonly encountered in early stage tight gas plays and can be remedied by operational changes to fluid use and well management. Planning is currently underway for the drilling of the Daydream-3 appraisal well is currently underway to further de-risk Grandis project gas resources. Omega Oil & Gas (ASX:OMA) is working its way towards testing its Canyon-1H horizontal well, which had recorded strong gas shows and indications of condensate throughout the 822m long horizontal section of the targeted Permian Canyon sandstone. While the gas is undoubtedly welcome, the condensate content provides a boost to the Canyon project’s development economics. The horizontal section also provides greater surface area for increased flow rates, which could also account for the reported success of the Shell appraisal well. The company is currently finalising the design and preparations for an eight-stage fracture stimulation program of this horizontal section, which will be flow tested in Q1 2025. Services giant Halliburton has already been awarded the contract to carry out the fracture stimulation work. At Stockhead, we tell it like it is. New analysis looking at elephant carcass distribution and algae levels in watering holes indicates that climate-induced poisoning has killed over 300 African elephants. King’s College London researchers have been studying the deaths of 350 African elephants in Botswana (which occurred during a single year in 2020). The researchers have concluded these are the result of drinking from water holes where toxic algae populations have significantly increased due to climate change. The scientists indicate their analysis shows animals were very likely poisoned by watering holes where toxic blooms of blue-green algae ( cyanobacteria ). This occurred after a very wet year followed a very dry one. The loss in numbers is significant. Botswana is home to a third of all African elephants, and this unprecedented die-off underlines concerns surrounding the impact of drought and climate change. Elephant carcasses were detected in the north-eastern sector of the country’s Okavango Delta between May and June 2020. Poaching was ruled out as the cause. Instead, toxins produced by the algae growing in watering holes was one suspected cause, though evidence has remained inconclusive. This was determined by combining satellite data and spatial analysis. This enabled the scientists to examine the relationship between about 3000 waterholes and the locations of deceased elephants. The analysis revealed waterholes near the carcasses showed elevated algal levels and repeated bloom events in 2020 compared to previous years. This was particularly during the period associated with the mass mortality event. The researchers also showed that decayed elephant carcasses were more spread out across the landscape than fresh carcasses, indicating that the die-off in 2020 was different from typical elephant mortality patterns. There were 20 waterholes near fresh carcasses that experienced increased algal bloom events in 2020 compared to the previous three years combined. These waterholes also exhibited the highest average algal biomass of the period 2015 — 2023. After drinking, elephants were estimated to have walked an average of 16.5 km from the toxic waterholes and died within about 88 hours of exposure. These findings suggest a heightened risk and likelihood of the presence algal toxins in these waterholes. It is of concern, going forwards, that Southern Africa is projected to become drier and hotter under climate changes, and as a result waterholes across this region will likely be drier for more months of the year. The research appears in the journal Science of The Total Environment , titled “Remote sensing and spatial analysis reveal unprecedented cyanobacteria bloom dynamics associated with elephant mass mortality.” Dr. Tim Sandle is Digital Journal's Editor-at-Large for science news.Tim specializes in science, technology, environmental, business, and health journalism. The Brooklyn Nets snapped a three-game losing skid without leading scorer Cam Thomas, who is listed as questionable. Brooklyn snuck past the Charlotte Hornets at Barclays Center without Thomas, but I don’t think they can score enough to upset the Philadelphia 76ers. The hardest part in backing Philly is health. Paul George and Joel Embiid are wild cards and Tyrese Maxey is on a minutes restriction as he returns from injury. If I had to make a bet on this game to win the $150, I would bet on the 76ers to win straight up (-270). Neither team has fared thus far, but Philadelphia is the better team, and they will surely win at home if Embiid and George play. More Sports Betting

However, why not buy a quality Canadian stock and own a gift that keeps giving for years (and maybe even decades)? If you choose stocks wisely, they can reward far beyond the life of your television. Likewise, just imagine how many televisions you could buy if your stocks were to multiply by several times? If you’ve got $2,000 and don’t mind deferring some near-term gratification, these Canadian stocks could be big winners. This Canadian stock is in ultra-growth mode It has been an incredible year already for ( ). This Canadian stock is up 197% in 2024! PRL was driven by a combination of great growth and a nice valuation re-rating after the stock was dirt cheap in 2023. Propel provides small loans to non-prime consumers in the U.S. and Canada. With its specialized A.I. lending platform, the company can quickly scale and expand its service offerings. This Canadian stock has a lot of operating leverage. The bigger it gets, the better its margins become. Propel has grown earnings per share by a plus-50% compounded annual growth rate (CAGR). If it completes its recently announced U.K. acquisition, it could certainly keep up that pace in 2025. If it keeps executing its growth strategy, this Canadian stock could still be reasonably priced. Lumine operates software businesses focused on media and telecommunications. Topicus acquires many smaller businesses. To date, Lumine has focused on larger carve-out opportunities. You can craft your weightings and strategy based on your preference. You can get access to all these businesses by owning the larger parent company, Constellation. It has a growing presence in the United States. Like Constellation, it is a serial acquirer. The freight sector is in a recession. While that hurts TFI’s operating income near term, it can still opportunistically acquire transport businesses at attractive valuations. TFI has had some operating issues, especially in the U.S. Yet, it continues to generate substantial free cash flow. As result, its balance sheet has remained strong and should support in 2025. Like the Canadian stocks above, TFI has a highly invested management team with a strong focus on high returns on investments. It is an ideal boring, industrial stock to hold for the next 5 to 10 years.

UBS Group Cuts American Eagle Outfitters (NYSE:AEO) Price Target to $32.00

The latest instalment of The 1% Club raised eyebrows among its viewers, with many declaring the questions were on the "easier" side. Host Lee Mack returned to the helm for a gripping episode on Tuesday night (December 10), where a fresh batch of 100 contestants vied to be the last person standing and tackle the daunting 1% question. As the ITV quiz show's stakes rose with every challenging round, audiences at home joined in the fun, testing their mettle against the contestants. Yet there was a growing sentiment that the evening's questions might have been a tad too straightforward for those participating in the studio. Flocking to what was once known as Twitter, a raft of viewers expressed their scepticism. One perturbed audience member remarked: "These questions do feel suspiciously easy... are we gonna get battered with a horrible last few questions, or have I just got lucky with how I think?" Another viewer questioned their own intellect, saying: "Either these questions are getting easier or I'm getting smarter as I'm still in at the 15% question and that ain't happened in a long time!" Another fan commented on their unexpected winning streak: "Either I'm a bl**dy genius or these questions are way too easy..." Meanwhile, one more spectator mused: "Just me thinking the episodes this week are not a single difficult question, failing to see the rise in toughness between 90-60 both SO easy," reports Lancs Live. Viewer critique didn't end with the general rounds; concerns poured in regarding the ultimate 1% question as well. With eight competitors left in the fray, host Lee Mack put forth the final challenge, asking, "What word is represented by this picture?" The screen flashed with the number eight encased in a cube, baffling contestants. They missed the answer "incubate," and not one player guessed correctly. Viewers quickly took to social media to weigh in, with one remarking on X: "Certainly not one of the hardest shows tonight." Another chimed in with a critique: "If you have this many people at the end then it means the questions are too easy I fear." Yet, there was empathy for the finalists who missed out on the jackpot. A sympathetic viewer posted: "That #The1PercentClub final question was unfair!! It wasn't even drawn like a cube, it looked like a mirror!! Those guys were robbed!" Echoing the sentiment, someone else wrote: "Never seen that many get to the 1 percentage question before, and all men and all wrong. Hard one, they couldn't even tell what the thing behind the 8 was meant to be." The 1% Club is available to watch on ITV X.
