A passenger plane skidded off a runway at a South Korean airport yesterday, slammed into a concrete fence and burst into flames after its front landing gear apparently failed to deploy. All but two of the 181 people on board died in one of the country’s worst aviation disasters. The Jeju Air plane crashed while landing in the town of Muan, about 290 kilometers south of Seoul. The Transport Ministry said the plane was a 15-year-old Boeing 737-800 jet that had arrived from Bangkok and that the crash happened at 9:03 a.m. A total of 179 people — 85 women, 84 men and 10 others whose genders weren’t immediately identifiable — died in the fire, the South Korean fire agency said. Emergency workers pulled two people, both crew members, to safety. Health officials said they are conscious and not in life-threatening condition. Among the 177 bodies so far found, officials have so far identified 88 of them, the fire agency said. The passengers were predominantly South Korean, as well as two Thai nationals. Thailand’s Foreign Ministry said its embassy in Seoul received confirmation from South Korean authorities that the two Thai passengers were among the fatalities. The fire agency deployed 32 fire trucks and several helicopters to contain the blaze. About 1,570 firefighters, police officers, soldiers and other officials were also sent to the site, according to the fire agency and transport ministry. Footage of the crash aired by South Korean television channels showed the plane skidding across the airstrip at high speed, apparently with its landing gear still closed, overrunning the runway and colliding head-on with a concrete wall on the outskirts of the facility, triggering an explosion. Other local TV stations aired footage showing thick plumes of black smoke billowing from the plane, which was engulfed in flames. Lee Jeong-hyeon, chief of the Muan fire station, told a televised briefing that the plane was completely destroyed, with only the tail assembly remaining recognizable among the wreckage. Lee said that workers were looking into various possibilities about what caused the crash, including whether the aircraft was struck by birds, Lee said. Transport Ministry officials later said their early assessment of communication records show the airport control tower issued a bird strike warning to the plane shortly before it intended to land and gave its pilot permission to land in a different area. The pilot sent out a distress signal shortly before the plane overshot the end of the runway and skidded across a buffer zone before hitting the wall, the officials said. Senior Transport Ministry official Joo Jong-wan said workers have retrieved the flight data and cockpit voice recorders of the plane’s black box, which will be examined by government experts investigating the cause of the crash and fire. He said it may take months for investigators to complete their probe. The runway at the Muan airport will be closed until Jan. 1, the ministry said. Thailand’s prime minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, expressed deep condolences to the families of those affected by the accident in a post on social platform X. Paetongtarn said she ordered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide assistance immediately. Kerati Kijmanawat, the director of Airports of Thailand, confirmed in a statement that Jeju Air flight 7C 2216 departed from Suvarnabhumi Airport with no reports of abnormal conditions with the aircraft or on the runway. Jeju Air in a statement expressed its “deep apology” over the crash and said it will do its “utmost to manage the aftermath of the accident.” In a televised news conference, Kim E-bae, Jeju Air’s president, bowed deeply with other senior company officials as he apologized to bereaved families and said he feels “full responsibility” for the incident. Kim said the company hadn’t identified any mechanical problems with the aircraft following regular checkups and that he would wait for the results of government investigations into the cause of the incident. Family members wailed as officials announced the names of some victims at a lounge in the Muan airport. Boeing said in a statement on X it was in contact with Jeju Air and is ready to support the company in dealing with the crash. “We extend our deepest condolences to the families who lost loved ones, and our thoughts remain with the passengers and crew,” Boeing said. The incident came as South Korea is embroiled into a huge political crisis triggered by President Yoon Suk Yeol’s stunning imposition of martial law and ensuing impeachment. Last Friday, South Korean lawmakers impeached acting President Han Duck-soo and suspended his duties, leading Deputy Prime Minister Choi Sang-mok to take over. Choi, who traveled to the site in Muan, called for officials to employ all available resources to find the missing and identify the victims as soon as possible. The government declared Muan a special disaster zone to provide assistance to the families of victims and designated a weeklong national mourning period through Saturday. Yoon’s office said his chief secretary, Chung Jin-suk, presided over an emergency meeting between senior presidential staff to discuss the crash and reported the details to Choi. Yoon expressed condolences to the victims in a Facebook posting. The Muan crash is one of the deadliest disasters in South Korea’s aviation history. The last time South Korea suffered a large-scale air disaster was in 1997, when a Korean Airline plane crashed in Guam, killing 228 people on board. Washington, Nov 22 (AP) Amazon is investing an additional USD 4 billion in the artificial intelligence startup Anthropic as major technology companies rush to fund generative AI. This will bring Amazon's total investment in Anthropic – which began last year - to USD 8 billion. Anthropic said the Seattle-based tech giant will maintain its position as a minority investor in the startup, which was founded by former leaders of the Microsoft-linked OpenAI. Under the deal, Amazon said the San Francisco-based Anthropic will now name Amazon's cloud computing unit, Amazon Web Services, as its “primary training partner”. It will also use two AWS chips to train and deploy its future foundational models, the advanced systems that underpin general-purpose AI services like ChatGPT and Google's Bard chatbot. The relationship between Big Tech companies and AI startups has received scrutiny from regulators in the US and abroad. However, Amazon got some good news in September when Britain's competition watchdog said Anthropic's revenue and its combined market share with Amazon in Britain were not big enough to require an in-depth investigation under the country's merger rules. Biden gives life in prison to 37 of 40 federal death row inmates before Trump can resume executions WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden on Monday announced that he is commuting the sentences of 37 of the 40 people on federal death row, converting their punishments to life imprisonment just weeks before President-elect Donald Trump, an outspoken proponent of expanding capital punishment, takes office. The move spares the lives of people convicted in killings, including the slayings of police and military officers, people on federal land and those involved in deadly bank robberies or drug deals, as well as the killings of guards or prisoners in federal facilities. The decision leaves three federal inmates to face execution. They are Dylann Roof, who carried out the 2015 racist slayings of nine Black members of Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina; 2013 Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev; and Robert Bowers, who fatally shot 11 congregants at Pittsburgh’s Tree of life Synagogue in 2018, the deadliest antisemitic attack in U.S history. “I’ve dedicated my career to reducing violent crime and ensuring a fair and effective justice system,” Biden said in a statement. “Today, I am commuting the sentences of 37 of the 40 individuals on federal death row to life sentences without the possibility of parole. These commutations are consistent with the moratorium my administration has imposed on federal executions, in cases other than terrorism and hate-motivated mass murder.” Reaction was strong, both for and against. A Trump spokesperson called the decision “abhorrent.” House Ethics Committee accuses Gaetz of paying for sex, including with 17-year-old girl WASHINGTON (AP) — The House Ethics Committee on Monday accused Matt Gaetz of “regularly” paying for sex, including once with a 17-year-old girl, and purchasing and using illicit drugs as a member of Congress, as lawmakers released the conclusions of a nearly four-year investigation that helped sink his nomination for attorney general. The 37-page report by the bipartisan panel includes explicit details of sex-filled parties and vacations that Gaetz, now 42, took part in from 2017 to 2020 while the Republican represented Florida's western Panhandle. Congressional investigators concluded that Gaetz violated multiple state laws related to sexual misconduct while in office, though not federal sex trafficking laws. They also found that Gaetz “knowingly and willfully sought to impede and obstruct” the committee's work. “The Committee determined there is substantial evidence that Representative Gaetz violated House Rules and other standards of conduct prohibiting prostitution, statutory rape, illicit drug use, impermissible gifts, special favors or privileges, and obstruction of Congress,” the report said. Before the report came out, Gaetz denied any wrongdoing and criticized the committee's process. Luigi Mangione pleads not guilty to murder and weapons charges in UnitedHealthcare CEO's death NEW YORK (AP) — The man accused of fatally shooting the CEO of UnitedHealthcare pleaded not guilty on Monday to state murder and terror charges while his attorney complained that comments coming from New York’s mayor would make it tough to receive a fair trial. Luigi Mangione, 26, was shackled and seated in a Manhattan court when he leaned over to a microphone to enter his plea. The Manhattan district attorney charged him last week with multiple counts of murder, including murder as an act of terrorism. Mangione's initial appearance in New York’s state trial court was preempted by federal prosecutors bringing their own charges over the shooting. The federal charges could carry the possibility of the death penalty, while the maximum sentence for the state charges is life in prison without parole. Prosecutors have said the two cases will proceed on parallel tracks, with the state charges expected to go to trial first. One of Mangione’s attorneys told a judge that government officials, including New York Mayor Eric Adams, have turned Mangione into a political pawn, robbing him of his rights as a defendant and tainting the jury pool. Man faces murder charges in the death of a woman who was lit on fire in New York City subway A man is facing murder and arson charges in New York City for allegedly setting a woman on fire inside a subway train and then watching her die after she was engulfed in flames, police said Monday. The suspect, identified by police as Sebastian Zapeta, was taken into custody hours after the woman died on Sunday morning. Zapeta, 33, is a Guatemalan citizen who entered the U.S. illegally after he had been previously removed in 2018, said Jeff Carter, a spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Surveillance video showed the suspect approach the woman, who was sitting motionless and may have been sleeping, on a stationary F train at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue subway station in Brooklyn and set her clothing on fire, police said. The woman's clothing "“became fully engulfed in a matter of seconds,” said Jessica Tisch, the New York City police commissioner, while the suspect remained at the scene, watching her burn from a bench on the subway platform as police and a transit worker extinguished the flames. Middle East latest: Defense minister acknowledges Israel killed Hamas leader JERUSALEM — Israel’s defense minister has confirmed that Israel assassinated Hamas’ top leader last summer and is threatening to take similar action against the leadership of the Houthi rebel group in Yemen. The comments by Israel Katz appeared to mark the first time that Israel has acknowledged killing Ismail Haniyeh, who died in an explosion in Iran in July. Israel was widely believed to be behind the blast and leaders have previously hinted at its involvement. In a speech Monday, Katz said the Houthis would meet a similar fate as the other members of an Iranian-led alliance in the region, including Haniyeh. He also noted that Israel has killed other leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah, helped topple Syria’s Bashar Assad and destroyed Iran’s anti-aircraft systems. “We will strike (the Houthis’) strategic infrastructure and cut off the head of the leadership,” he said. “Just like we did to Haniyeh, Sinwar and Nasrallah in Tehran, Gaza and Lebanon, we will do in Hodeida and Sanaa,” he said, referring to Hamas and Hezbollah leaders killed in previous Israeli attacks. Trump again calls to buy Greenland after eyeing Canada and the Panama Canal WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — First it was Canada, then the Panama Canal. Now, Donald Trump again wants Greenland. The president-elect is renewing unsuccessful calls he made during his first term for the U.S. to buy Greenland from Denmark, adding to the list of allied countries with which he's picking fights even before taking office on Jan. 20. In a Sunday announcement naming his ambassador to Denmark, Trump wrote that, “For purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity." Trump again having designs on Greenland comes after the president-elect suggested over the weekend that the U.S. could retake control of the Panama Canal if something isn't done to ease rising shipping costs required for using the waterway linking the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. He's also been suggesting that Canada become the 51st U.S. state and referred to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as “governor” of the “Great State of Canada.” Nissan and Honda to attempt a merger that would create the world's No. 3 automaker TOKYO (AP) — Japanese automakers Honda and Nissan have announced plans to work toward a merger that would form the world’s third-largest automaker by sales, as the industry undergoes dramatic changes in its transition away from fossil fuels. The two companies said they had signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday and that smaller Nissan alliance member Mitsubishi Motors Corp. also had agreed to join the talks on integrating their businesses. Automakers in Japan have lagged behind their big rivals in electric vehicles and are trying to cut costs and make up for lost time as newcomers like China's BYD and EV market leader Tesla devour market share. Honda's president, Toshihiro Mibe, said Honda and Nissan will attempt to unify their operations under a joint holding company. Honda will lead the new management, retaining the principles and brands of each company. They aim to have a formal merger agreement by June and to complete the deal and list the holding company on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by August 2026, he said. No dollar value was given and the formal talks are just starting, Mibe said. Magdeburg mourns Christmas market attack victims as fears swirl of deeper German social divisions MAGDEBURG, Germany (AP) — Mourners laid flowers near the scene of the deadly Christmas market attack on Monday as investigators puzzled over the motive of the suspect and his previous encounters with authorities were scrutinized, while fears swirled that the rampage could deepen divisions in German society. The Johanniskirche, a church a short walk from the scene of the attack, has become a central place of mourning since the suspect drove a car into the busy market on Friday evening, killing five people. A carpet of flowers now covers the broad sidewalk in front of the church. Prosecutors said the number of injured has risen to as many as 235 as more people have reported to hospitals and doctors, but it's possible there was some double-counting. Authorities have identified the suspect as a Saudi doctor who arrived in Germany in 2006 and had received permanent residency. They say he doesn't fit the usual profile of perpetrators of extremist attacks. The man described himself as an ex-Muslim who was highly critical of Islam, and on social media expressed support for the far-right. A picture has emerged of someone who had come to authorities’ attention for threatening behavior and been the subject of tipoffs, but wasn't known to have committed any violence. The interior minister of Saxony-Anhalt state, Tamara Zieschang, told lawmakers Monday that police had contacted him in September 2023 and again in October this year, but didn't comment publicly on why, German news agency dpa reported. How faith communities can be welcoming of believers with disabilities this holiday season and beyond The Rev. Shannon Blosser sees how his son loves church — the music, the singing, the communion. But the United Methodist pastor said his family hasn’t always felt like 11-year-old Noah, who is autistic, has been welcome. At one point, Blosser’s wife and the couple’s two sons stopped attending in-person services at a church where he served. “If we felt more supported, we probably would have pushed through.” Many people with disabilities, advocates and families want more religious congregations to know that there are ways to be accommodating and inclusive of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities this holiday season — and year round — and to fully embrace them and their families. “They just have to have the willingness to be the church that sees the image of God in every child and every adult,” said Blosser, who now serves two small West Virginia congregations that have been supportive of his family’s needs. Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, one of the congregations, is hosting a “Calm Christmas,” a sensory-friendly celebration and worship, where music will come from a guitar, rather than a piano, and candles will be swapped for glow sticks to avoid any dangers. There are fidget toys and a “visual schedule” to help those needing images and graphics to better process the sequence of events. Tennessee and Auburn remain 1-2 in AP Top 25 poll featuring 10 SEC teams Tennessee and Auburn remained Nos. 1-2 atop The Associated Press men's college basketball poll. It's a fitting spot for a pair of Southeastern Conference teams considering the league put 10 teams into Monday's AP Top 25. The Volunteers (11-0) and Tigers (11-1) spent a third straight week in the same position, and it marked a fourth consecutive week for Auburn sitting at No. 2. They were part of a top 10 that featured the same top-10 programs, though slightly reshuffled with Kentucky tumbling six spots to No. 10 after a loss to Ohio State. The poll also featured four additions that previously had been ranked this season, including No. 19 Mississippi State and No. 23 Arkansas to add to the SEC's season-long hauls. The SEC thrice had as many as nine ranked teams this season, including in the preseason poll. This is the first time since at least the start of the 2012-13 season that one league had 10 ranked teams. Iowa State was third, followed by Duke and Alabama to round out the top five. Florida, Kansas, Marquette and Oregon followed, with those teams all moving up one spot given the Wildcats' fall to 10th.

The first time I used it I was trying to figure out what to do for my hair for a photo shoot, so I just put this on the night before and I swear I woke up with my hair photo ready!! A pack of virtually unbreakable hair ties specifically designed for long, thick, and/or curly hair. No slipping, no stretching out, and no damage to your strands. Promising review: "Okay, I never write reviews for things, but I can't not write a review for these. I know, I know, it's just a hair tie. But it's not just a hair tie! I don't have super thick hair and it's by no means curly, but these hair ties are perfect! I'm a runner and always put my hair in a high-ish ponytail for my runs. With every other hair tie I've gotten in the past, my ponytail ends up a lot lower than where I started with it. Not so with these! I put my hair up nice and high and it stayed nice and high! It's the little things in life." — KL Promising review: "These are a godsend. I have thick natural hair between 4b/c that comes right underneath my chin when stretched. Finding a band that doesn’t break when I divide my hair into fours or twos is difficult; this one does just the trick and it doesn’t pull too much out either. I’ll probably buy another pack because I lose hair bands like socks!" — Cadie Get a pack of 20 from Amazon for $6.99 . 10. A volume-boosting Neutrogena exfoliating clarifying shampoo you can use every few washes to remove all the product residue and buildup you've accumulated with styling. Reviewers with oily and/or fine hair love it! Although it's clarifying, it's free of sulfates! Promising review: "I have very fine hair, and it’s usually greasy by the evening after a morning shower, but this shampoo keeps my hair clean and fresh for 48 hours! I’ve never found a clarifying shampoo that does this!" — Laura Broeckelman Get it from Amazon for $9.97 . 11. Use every few washes, and your products will work better . It's also available in a fragrance-free version ! Promising review: "I work outside and color my hair weekly with a color depositing conditioner, so once a week I need a clarifier to get all the salt and product out of my hair. This is SO much better than the salon stuff I had been using. It's gentle, but effective and doesn't leave my hair feeling totally stripped. It also has a nice aroma. Stop buying the overpriced stuff from the salon and try this instead. Your hair will thank you. " — Teddy Promising review: "Great for 4C hair! I always use a clarifying shampoo before I install any type of box braids. I used this today and it was incredible. I used it scalp to tip and my hair was still very moisturized. The scent is also great. It’s not too overwhelming to point where you can get nose bleeds. And a little goes a very long way. I still have enough shampoo to last probably the whole year because I used so little. " — Ejiro Promising review: "I originally bought this product for a client of mine with locs to help with build up, but I've found it works well for my natural 3C hair as well. I use a lot of gels and oils and after a few days, it starts to really pile up. This shampoo is sulfate-free, which is awesome for all hair! I follow up with conditioners, but it doesn't leave my hair or scalp feeling stripped — just clean. I also recommend this to anyone who has dandruff as well." — Bridget Get it from Amazon for $13.08 . 12. An Elizavecca collagen-infused ~protein treatment~ for an intense at-home mask that'll help your strands look and feel less damaged in just five minutes. It's basically a time machine for your hair is what I'm saying. This is the same brand that makes the Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask so many people swear by. Promising review: "I've been very careful when lightening my hair, but the straw feeling is sometimes inevitable when bleached. THIS PRODUCT IS MAGIC. I've always gone to my hairdresser when coloring so I've been fortunate to have my hair stay pretty nice but this made a world of a difference. My hair is like silk, or soft butter. So incredibly soft and shiny, I feel like a walking hair commercial. My hair feels so moisturized and healthy, just as soft if not softer than my hair was prior to coloring (been highlighting for 5 years now). Will be buying more before I run out, I will never stop using this product. FYI my natural color is the dark brown at the roots and my hair looks healthier than a natural blonde IMO :) ADD TO YOUR CART YOU WONT REGRET. After you shampoo, load your hair up and do the rest of your shower, heck have it be a long shower bc you deserve it, and rinse out with lukewarm water." — Meghan Davey Promising review: "I have 4C hair and was looking for a protein treatment for my thin and fragile. I had recently used a product in my hair that had so much alcohol in it; that wreaked havoc on my hair, leaving it pretty damaged. I was very skeptical about this product because I have never seen anyone with my hair type use it. Boy was I wrong to doubt this product, it left my hair looking and feeling beautiful . I highly recommend it to anyone natural or with curly hair." — Therese-Claire Get it from Amazon for $8.40 . After torturing them with heat for the last 15 years I’ve been experimenting with the CGM and this is the best styling product EVER. Solid cast, amazing definition and shine, my curls are so soft and bouncy. Minimal stickiness and this stuff doesn’t weigh my curls down. Promising review: "I feel like I have tried every product in the market for detangling curly hair on my 2-year old daughter. This is the BEST purchase and product ever!! I spray to detangle after bath at night and then re-spray the next morning before school after getting dressed. It reworks its magic the second time around and she arrives home with her hair so bouncy and the curls are so tame!!" — BK Promising review: "This is the BEST product EVER! I will never use another hair detangler ever again. We use this product daily in my house, my daughter, my son, and me. Both of us girls have long and thick curly hair, and it allows us to brush through our hair with no problems! And my son mostly uses it to style his hair before gel, and because it smells so good! We tried a few products from Walmart, Ulta, and Target, and nothing was good enough. This is now on my Subscribe & Save every month! A Shea Moisture manuka honey mask packed with powerful ingredients like mafura oil, shea butter, baobab oil, African rock fig, and honey (duh!) to lock in moisture and definition. Promising review: "Better than the expensive K18 and Olaplex. I recently spent $70 on a hair mask; because my hair has been in need of some love. I won’t name it because I don’t think I can but I thought it’s 70 bucks so it must be good. It was NOT. I didn’t hate it but it didn’t do much for me. So I thought screw it let me try something more natural and drugstore. I saw the good reviews on this so I thought, “why not?” And now I have my new favorite hair mask. So moisturizing. Makes my hair so soft. It’s VERY thick. But that’s what I wanted. If you’re looking for deep Hydration, look no further." — Kirstin Promising review: " I don't usually leave reviews, but I had to because I love this conditioner so much. I have EXTREMELY dry 4c hair. It's very picky with products. After getting to know my hair, I noticed that my hair only like products that get absorbed into the hair right away. If it leaves a coating over it, then my hair is not going to like it. It might even feel super soft for a day, but then it get extremely dry after. Even though this product is super thick (so thick that the cream stays in the jar when you flip it upside down), my hair absorbs everything and it stays super moisturized for 2-3 days after. I used this on my hair about 2 days ago. Today, I touched my hair expecting it to feel dry like always, but it felt like I just moisturized it. MIND BLOWN. It also smells AMAZING. It smells more like a fruity, sweet, and creamy perfume fragrance rather than a hair conditioner. It almost reminds me of Mon Guerlain. Literally the nicest smelling hair product I've ever used. 10/10" — Khady Ndiaye Get it from Amazon for $12.22 . 16. Promising review: "Perfect for people with long, thick hair. My daughter is a competitive dancer with long, thick hair. Ponytail stayed in place for her entire dance!" — JKash Get a set of 10 from Amazon for $4.79 . 21. It has two heat settings, plus a cool setting so you can customize it to your hair type. Promising review: "I'm a stylist of nine years, and I've straightened many heads in my lifetime. I NEEDED THIS NINE YEARS AGO! OMG, I use it prior to performing full blowouts on clients and it helps tremendously, especially for finicky children and teens. It's great for all hair textures." — Vett Garcia Promising review: "Worth the coins! Don't think, just buy lol. I typically blow out my natural 4b hair maybe three times a year. I usually use the tension method which is okay but it just doesn't get my hair straight enough. I used the Revlon paddle dryer on the low setting and was shook at how stretched my hair was! I didn't blow dry it on soaking wet hair but washed my hair the night before, let it air dry in four sections then blow dried it the next morning. I'm so happy I bought this! P.S my curls reverted back just fine , I didn't have any heat damage." — Estella Get it from Amazon for $35.38 . 22. Or the Revlon One-Step Hot Air Brush (now with an upgraded motor) with a unique oval-shaped barrel so you can get super close to your scalp for smooth hair and majorly boosted volume at the roots, without having to juggle a brush and blow-dryer. One reviewer says it takes less time to dry than their Dry Bar Brush ! Promising review: "Works on 4C hair. I have thick, coarse, kinky, and long hair. Which essentially means my hair was built to destroy most hair tools available. I had given up on blow drying my hair independently years ago because it was too much of a hassle to go to a salon, and it was too difficult for me to do alone trying to juggle the blow dryer and whatever wand/brush I would try to use at the time to grip my hair when all I’d end up doing is break them. This tool has been a godsend, for the first time ever I’ve been able to blow dry my hair on my own! I really only blow dry my hair so that I can braid it and put it in other protective styles, and this tool is perfect for just that!" — Anla Promising review: "Where have you been all my life? Omg this dryer was AMAZING!!!!! I don’t understand why I didn’t know about it sooner!!!! My hair is thick and curly and hard to control. Usually I need to air dry for at least an hour, then it’s 45 min to blow it out. Usually resulting in my arms being exhausted and my hair burned. BEST DRYER EVER! And I have spent $$ on a dry bar dryer. Never again. I need to buy a back up just in case. LOVE" — Brian Halpin Get it from Amazon for $33.58+ at Amazon (available in five colors). 23. A canister of fan-favorite Batiste dry shampoo (and this version's ~barely~ fragranced) to add the perfect amount of texture and body to your day(s)-old hair and make oily, flat roots disappear. Batiste dry shampoo comes in several varieties, but this one is barely fragranced , with hints of citrus, leafy greens, and vanilla that won't compete with your perfume (or give you a headache). Promising review: "Actually love this dry shampoo, some other brands make my hair feel sticky like I just put a lot of hairspray in but this one truly makes you feel clean and refreshed and lightweight again!" — Megan Promising review: "I had a bottle of the original Batiste before this and didn't like how strong the fragrance was, so I'm glad I found this instead. There is still some fragrance but it's extremely light and pleasant , and doesn't linger after you spray it. This bottle is also a pretty large size so it will last me a long time." — Helen Get it from Amazon for $12.33 . 24. Or I Dew Care's dry shampoo powder , which comes packaged in an easy-to-apply, perfect-for-travel powder puff applicator you just tap-tap-tap onto your hair. Just massage the ultra-fine powder into your roots (it's formulated with black ginseng and biotin btw!) and it'll quickly absorb excess oil, leaving you with volumized and refreshed-looking hair. Promising review: "I’ve tried a few dry shampoos, from the spray in a bottle to powder. And I’d have to say this one has been my favorite. My very first time using it, I didn’t know how much to put and ended up coating my hair by A LOT. It left my hair feeling very dry and straw-like. I almost returned and got a refund but decided to give it another chance. A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY. Trust me. You only need a few dabs on your head and that’s it. You can see the extra volume almost instantly. This stuff works sooo well that I wake up on my third unwashed hair day and it looks better than the second day when I used the dry shampoo. And let’s not forget to mention how convenient and compact the whole thing is. It’s so nice to just pat it on your head with no mess." — Thuy Get it from Amazon for $18 . 25. The super viral Wavytalk curling iron/brush set , which comes with five attachments, including the much buzzed-about heated curling brush with bristles that'll leave you with a salon-worthy look in just minutes. It also comes with two styling clips and a protective glove, btw! Promising review: "I love this hair tool, especially for its affordability! I bought it mostly for the round brush, but love that it comes with four other attachments as well. The thermal round brush works very well and makes achieving a blow out look so simple/quick! I have a blowdryer round brush as well but hate how loud it is, how long it takes, and how I am sweating by the end of it. This is a nice alternative and also easy to pack when traveling abroad!" — Kelsie M Get it from Amazon for $47.99 (available in three colors and five types of sets). 27. A bottle of Fanola purple shampoo formulated to neutralize yellow tones and brassiness for platinum locks — all in one to three minutes . I travel in them, sleep in them EVERY NIGHT, and I even wear them out when my hair is dirty and it's ~low bun time~ to dress it up a bit. If you're looking for a budget-friendly option to just add a little TLC to your hair care, I absolutely recommend these bbs. Promising review: "Exactly what I was looking for! I was having problems with other hair ties pulling my hair out, but these do not do that at all!! They are still loose enough not to pull but tight enough to hold my hair. I have super, super thick hair, and it has no problem holding it up without slipping out or anything. This brand is honestly amazing. The silk is really nice and stays clean, and when I put them through the washer and dryer, they come out perfect, just like new. I've had them for nine months, and they have been through the washer and dryer, lived in the bottom of my purse, on the car floor, been in the lake, everywhere, and they are still just like new. They truly are amazing." — Nathan and Alexis Bealor Get a pack of five from Amazon for $6.99 (available in five color varieties, plus other styles). This is one of the best hairsprays that I have used to keep my style, especially when it is humid out. A deep-conditioning Tonymoly hair pack chock-full of vitamins, nutritious oils, and shea butter to make your hair softer than ever. Big Ed from 90 Day Fiancé , please use this instead of *actual* mayo. If you're not a mayo fan, don't worry — this one actually smells like vanilla and macadamia nuts. Promising review: "I purchased this after reading the reviews on here. I recently had my already double-processed and highlighted hair highlighted again, and the colorist way over-processed (the colorist did a terrible job) and bleached it blonde, and it was so damaged and dry. I was practically crying . I was looking online to find a mask to help my poor hair recover. I have to say I've used so many different products, and none have given instant results the way this has. I used a clarifying shampoo to try to get rid of some of the leftover color and then used this hair pack. I thought it smelled lovely, like vanilla! Left it on for five minutes and my hair was so much better. I tried it again a week later and my hair keeps getting softer and more manageable. I would highly recommend this if you have damaged, dry hair." — GP Get it from Amazon $21.85 . 33. A Color Wow powder and brush combo to cover your grown-in roots instantly and/or make your hair look fuller at your part or hairline — and it'll last until you shampoo it out! Promising review: "I didn't think something that looked like eyeshadow would do much. But it works beautifully! I can wear my hair back and feel confident that my hair looks naturally dark through and through. The best part (besides that it really works)? It stays on! I have been to the pool and come home with my hair still covered. I can only wash my hair about every other day. The roots are covered from the time I initially out on the product until I wash it out with ease with regular shampoo in the shower. Love this stuff!" — dkl1992 Get it from Amazon for $34.50 (available in eight colors). 34. Wonder Curl's Get Set Jelly with aloe leaf juice and pro-vitamin B5 to define curls and coils and protect them from humidity, so they stay fresh and defined all day (and for days after). Promising review: "I was recently introduced to this gel during my very first appointment at a salon that specializes in curly hair. In all honesty, I had given up on using hair gel to define my curls during the early stages of my natural hair journey because the gel available in most stores would either flake horribly or make your hair sticky or hard. They were terrible. Not this gel. It's truly wonderful. It will do what you ask it to do without the flaking, stickiness, or hardness. I have basically a 4A curl pattern and it does a great job of defining my curls. I typically wear a wash and go and it lasts until I wash my hair again. My curls are defined even after my hair gets smushed overnight due to the bonnet. I typically use homemade shea butter to stretch my hair out again. No more struggle with my hair before I have to go to work." — Angela Taylor Get it from Wonder Curl for $22 (also available in a mini size). You can use it just twice a week, too! Learn more about ketoconazole shampoos and other dandruff shampoos at the Mayo Clinic . Promising review: "Stop looking around. This is magic! Got rid of my dandruff long time problem in a week. You see amazing results the first time you use this." — Carlos Montalva Promising review: "This fixed my dandruff almost immediately. I have tried different dandruff shampoos and hair care routines for YEARS without any success. I've used cleansing shampoos and hair oils, minimized any heat used on my hair, changed my diet, switched up shampoos frequently, used a scalp scrubbing tool, and tried going multiple days without washing my hair...and yet, I still struggled with dandruff and itchy scalp. The itching was unbearable. I decided to give Nizoral a try as a last-ditch effort, and my god, it has completely CHANGED my life. I am no longer itchy and I have virtually zero flakes still left on my hair. I wash my hair every 2-3 days and do not struggle with the same issues I used to. The scent is fine for me — it's a "clean" scent, so I don't mind it. I did not notice any drying of my hair. I used it every wash for a few weeks (the bottle says eight weeks), and now I just use it as needed. Probably every 5-6 washes. I hope you have as much success as I did with this product!" — Jenn Get it from Amazon for $14.28 . 36. A tourmaline deep waver hot tool to create everything from 1920s-style finger waves to perfectly undone mermaid hair in no time flat. Promising review: "Yes! Finally...a no-skill-required remedy for my curl/wave envy. I've tried it all...the hot roller curls don't last and take forever, the overnight rollers keep me from resting comfortably, the wet braids looked terrible, the wet bun caused a lot of breakage and still looked dumb, the curling iron was always awkward for me and the 'curls' wouldn't last. All of my trials and errors eventually led me to this product. I did half my hair on my first run in about 1.5 mins. They are set...not coming undone even with brushing. I'm so excited to finally be able to pull off this hairstyle. No regrets! These waves stood strong through an eight-hour work shift, plus the snowy highway winds from getting a flat tire on the way to work. BOOM! Miracle. " — Vanessa Promising review: "For all hair textures. I was wondering if I ordered this would it work on bundle extensions and I was correct. It provides a soft or deep wave as desired." — Tiffany Douglas Get it from Amazon for $23.03 . 38. Big Sexy Hair's weightless volumizing and texturizing powder that'll go on translucent for the bigger-than-ever hair of your dreams. It's also great for beefing up braids! Promising review: "A magical hair volumizer for those who have lost hope. I have always been frustrated with my hair weighing down around the crown, even if I could get some body into it in the morning, guaranteed it was flat by mid-day. This stuff is amazing! I just sprinkle a tiny bit around my roots/crown and it lasts all day and into the next. It's like a dry magic gel! Love this stuff and my 'new' hairstyle capabilities. The container is super tiny (think height of a cell phone) but a little goes a LONG way. It makes skipping washing hair that much easier for those of us with non-volumized hair/roots." — Jennifer Cibor Get it from Amazon for $21.95 (also available in a two-pack). 39. I will recommend this to anyone!" – M.D Get it from Amazon for $17.54+ (available in six colors). 40. Olaplex 3, a strengthening, re-bonding for your color-treated or heat damaged locks, making them healthier than ever before. This is a game-changer, folks. Promising review: "MAGIC!!!! I swear this stuff is made from unicorns. I was doubtful, given that I have tried the gamut of hair conditioning treatments (yes, yes, I know this is NOT a conditioner, but a bonder) and all I have to say is WOWZA! After some really harsh processing (got my hair from dark dark brown to very very blonde so I could add funky colors (currently pink), my hair more closely resembled hay than it did actual hair and as the weeks went on, the breakage started getting worse. I tried this at my last feeble attempt to salvage my locks after a friend recommended it and I am BLOWN AWAY by the results! It really does work. I won't lie and tell you my hair is back to it's normal state, but it is SIGNIFICANTLY improved. It is smoother, softer, and even has some of the weight back! This was just after one application (I left it in for an hour as the website suggested for my level of damage). I can't wait to see if it gets better with the next application. I am definitely sold." — shel.b.phd Promising review: I used this product with the leatherwood brush I HAVE NEVER SEEN MY 4B CURLS POP THIS WAY (now to keep it in that state) but my hair is smooth, moisturized....amazing product...no conditioner, hot oil treatment, does what this product does. This is a bond builder. Vital for tight coils 4B,4C fine strand hair...try it PLEASE." — LAValentine Get it from Amazon for $30 (also available in bundles with other Olaplex products). 41. An argan oil–infused cream gel that'll define curls and add hold (*without* the dreaded crunchiness). It'll help fight frizz so your hair can bounce along healthily behind you, whether you have anything from loose waves to tight spirals — and it's safe on colored hair! Promising review: "This is my favorite styling product now. It doesn't get flaky or hard and leaves my curls looking healthy and shiny! The bounce is wild, the best I've seen with a styling cream/gel! The consistency is more gel like than cream but is not at all like the gels of other competition. Pics are of before started using the cream gel and after... you can see the difference in my curls (I also cut my own hair)." — Mia Randall Get it from Amazon for $8.99 . 42. A satin pillowcase to help maintain hair health even as you sleep, reducing pesky frizz and breakage when compared with regular cotton or other fiber pillowcases — that means longer-lasting blowouts and less damage in the long run. This is my go-to satin pillowcase. I have two Slip pillowcases, and several of these, and actually the Bedsure ones wash up much nicer and retain an incredibly silky smooth feel after dozens of trips through the laundry. They're the only ones I'll buy going forward, and I recommended them to my mom and now she's in love with them too! Promising review: "Life-changing! I was originally looking for silk pillow cases, but decided to give these a try because they were a better price. I am not disappointed! I have seen a noticeable difference in my hair in the mornings and overall they are so smooth and comfortable to sleep on. I’ve washed them several times and haven’t seen a difference in the quality. I would buy again." — Kate Get a set of two from Amazon for $6.49+ (available in four sizes and 35 colors and patterns). 43. A TikTok-famous honey-infused Gisou hair oil reviewers with all hair types love for the added moisture and shine — without that greasy, weighed down look and feel. If you haven't incorporated a hair oil into your routine yet, this is your sign. Promising review: “This hair oil does EVERYTHING it says it does. Not only does it leave a great shine to your hair, but it also doesn’t weight it down at all. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and I have noticed that my hair is drastically more shiny and less brittle looking. Also, the scent is absolutely divine and it does linger but don’t worry, it is not an overwhelming scent. For reference, I have thick 3b-3c curly hair. P.S., the packaging is super beautiful so this product is a win-win!" — MariahSantiago Get it from Sephora for $46 (also available in a mini ($25) and value ($87) size). 44. A set of sponge rollers for adding (heat-free!) curls and volume to your hair. Wanting to try some of those vintage hair sets you've seen on TikTok? These are a great way to start. I have these foam rollers and they're really great! The clips stay in my hair, even while sleeping (not the most comfortable way to sleep, but here we are), and the results lasted for days! If you're new to rollers, I recommend rolling in sections right down your center part (as the reviewer does above), and then curling the sides by section — just make sure you're rolling underneath the hair. And the curls will be tighter than you want when you take them out! Just finger detangle or brush through to achieve that softer, vintage-inspired look. Promising review: "I've always had bad experiences with foam rollers in the past. I don't know what makes these ones different, but they stay in your hair, don't take long to dry, and give you long-lasting curls! I'm in love with them. I use about 12 at a time to curl my hair, spray a setting lotion, and either let them stay in overnight while I sleep or I sit under my hooded dryer for 10 minutes." — Katrina Holte Get the set of 36 rollers from Amazon for $9.99 (available in three colors, plus a larger size).
