The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP SP) chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday said that the Ladki Bahin scheme, women's participation in voting in large numbers, and religious polarisation may have played a role in Mahayuti's victory in , reported the PTI. Sharad Pawar said that the Maharashtra election result 2024, declared on Saturday, are not on the expected lines but he would revitalise the party. Responding to a query on his retirement from active politics, Sharad Pawar tersely said he and his party colleagues will decide. Speaking to reporters in Karad city in Satara district, Sharad Pawar acknowledged that the NCP led by his nephew and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar secured more seats than the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar), adding "Everyone knows who founded the NCP," according to the PTI. "The Ladki Bahin scheme and religious polarisation played a role. Women's participation in large numbers could be the reason for the Mahayuti sweep in Maharashtra. We will study the reasons for the debacle and take necessary steps," he said. Sharad Pawar asserted that the NCP (SP) would go to people by re-energising the new leadership. Responding to a query on EVMs, a day after Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut expressed doubts over the massive verdict in Mahayuti's favour, Pawar said he would speak about EVMs only if he has official data, as per the PTI. Sharad Pawar suffered the worst-ever defeat in his political career in with the NCP faction led by him winning only 10 seats in the 288-member House, while the Ajit Pawar-led NCP bagged 41. The Mahayuti scored a massive victory with the BJP winning 132 seats, Shiv Sena led by Shinde 57, and NCP 41. In contrast, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi was restricted to 46 seats. Pawar said the poll outcome he had witnessed in his public life was unprecedented. "The MVA coalition put in a lot of hard work but the desired results were not achieved even though people responded positively to MVA during campaigning," the NCP (SP) chief added, the news agency reported on Sunday. Pawar said that the MVA was more confident after achieving success in Lok Sabha elections, adding that more work needs to be done. When asked if he was jolted by the poll outcome, Pawar said, "The poll results were declared yesterday. Today I am in Karad. Those who were demoralised would have sat at home". He also said fielding his grandnephew Yugendra Pawar against on the home turf of Baramati wasn't a wrong decision as someone had to contest the elections. Ajit Pawar defeated Yugendra by a margin of over 1 lakh votes to win the eighth term in Baramati. "Ajit Pawar and Yugendra Pawar cannot be compared. A statement signed by its National President, Daniel Dallah Peace on Sunday emphasized the need for military presence in the area to ensure prompt action to help restore security and protect lives and properties in the area. He lamented, “One of our own, a CBN Director, was once abducted in the area and N300m was paid as ransom for his release.” Dala stated that a military formation in Kwassam would help in no small measure restore normalcy in surrounding vulnerable communities that have been displaced over the years, stressing that about a billion has so far been paid as ransom from the vulnerable communities where 13 people were gruesomely killed, and over 200 taken captive in the space of four months. He stated, “The Military formation in Kwassam will enable the communities that have been displaced to return to their ancestral homes where they have their farms and farm produce. Currently, our traditional leader Alh. Dauda Abdulsalam, the Pugom Kumana, for some years, has not been at home because of the attempt made on his life by the bandits.” The President wondered why the council Chairman of Kauru Local Government Area who is also the Chief Security Officer of the people, completely exempted Kwassam and surrounding vulnerable communities in Kumana Chiefdom in his security reports presented to the G O C 3rd Division Jos. He added that communities like Fagen rawa, Kaibi, Kusheka, Fadan Ruruma, Rafin rimi, Kitimi, Kakude, and Kiwollo have all been affected by the kidnappings and killings while many residents of the affected communities have to relocate to neighbouring communities for fear of being kidnapped or killed. He further highlighted that the communities have witnessed setbacks due to the brutal killings and kidnapping of people who are legitimately working on their farms while attributing the development to a conspiracy to ensure poverty thrives in their areas. He said the Community is ready to donate their houses or facilities to the military once the formation is approved to start operations and appealed to the Federal Government to intensify efforts in supporting Governor Uba Sani as he responds to their plight. He assured the community’s hundred percent readiness to cooperate with the security agencies and Governments to end the menace in their communities. It was a stunning bit of news as tennis moves toward its offseason , a pairing of two of the most successful and popular players in the sport, both of whom are sometimes referred to as members of a so-called Big Four that also included Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal . Djokovic is a 24-time Grand Slam champion who has spent more weeks at No. 1 than any other player in tennis history. Murray won three major trophies and two Olympic singles gold medals and finished 2016 atop the ATP rankings. He ended his playing career after the Paris Summer Games in August. Both men are 37 and were born a week apart in May 1987. They started facing each other as juniors and wound up meeting 36 times as professionals, with Djokovic holding a 25-11 advantage. “We played each other since we were boys — 25 years of being rivals, of pushing each other beyond our limits. We had some of the most epic battles in our sport. They called us game-changers, risk-takers, history-makers,” Djokovic posted on social media over photos and videos from some of their matches. “I thought our story may be over. Turns out, it has one final chapter. It’s time for one of my toughest opponents to step into my corner. Welcome on board, Coach — Andy Murray.” Djokovic's 2024 season is over, and it was not up to his usual, high standards. He didn't win a Grand Slam trophy ; his only title, though, was meaningful to him: a gold medal for Serbia in singles at the Summer Games. Djokovic has been without a full-time coach since splitting in March from Goran Ivanisevic. “I’m going to be joining Novak’s team in the offseason, helping him to prepare for the Australian Open," Murray said in a statement released by his management team. "I’m really excited for it and looking forward to spending time on the same side of the net as Novak for a change, helping him to achieve his goals.” Their head-to-head series on tour includes an 11-8 lead for Djokovic in finals, and 8-2 at Grand Slam tournaments. Djokovic beat Murray four times in the Australian Open final alone — in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2016. Two of the most important victories of Murray's career came with Djokovic on the other side of the net. One was in the 2012 U.S. Open final , when Murray claimed his first Grand Slam title. The other was in the 2013 Wimbledon final , when Murray became the first British man in 77 years to win the singles championship at the All England Club.
