Vadodara: LIC Housing Finance Ltd (LICHFL) has declared the Agora City Centre on Mangal Pandey Road near VUDA Circle as a stressed asset and sold it to an asset reconstruction company (ARC). The project has been mired in a series of controversies despite being among the most luxurious real estate projects built on a large scale in the city. The project was developed by Manav Infrastructure under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). It came up on the land where the Sanjaynagar slums once stood. The residents of the slums were offered houses in high-rise buildings that came up on a part of the land. All the buildings were constructed, and the houses were handed over to their beneficiaries as well. Balaji City Centre, which included retail, commercial, and residential properties along with a high-end clubhouse and other luxurious facilities, was planned on the remaining part of the land. The project was touted to be unique and the first of its kind in the city. However, it was mired in controversies since work began. It was alleged that the Agora City Centre project was announced without permission. When the work began, it was also alleged that a retaining wall was being constructed inside the border of the Vishwamitri River. The project also ran into trouble over its height, and some floors were done away with. The project was in the limelight again after the floods when Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) identified encroachments obstructing the flow of the river and razed the clubhouse of the project. A major setback for Manav Infrastructure came when its chairman Ashish Shah died. Shah, who was the driving force behind the company and the Agora City Centre, died due to dengue in Ahmedabad in 2022. According to a notice issued by LICHFL last month for identifying an agency that could take over the stressed loan, the developers owed Rs 711.2 crore as the total payable amount. The agency started looking for an ARC to take over this loan and invited bids. In a recent statutory disclosure to stock exchanges as per Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) guidelines, LICHFL said that it sold the stressed loan to CFM Asset Reconstruction Private Ltd, an ARC identified after the bidding process. The ARC paid Rs 250 crore as consideration to LICHFL after the bidding process. The declaration is significant as it reveals that the project is in financial difficulties and LICHFL identified an ARC. The ARC will now take steps to recover the loan.

When the rookie was getting beaten routinely for pressure and sacks, they switched to second-year pro Wanya Morris, who fared no better at protecting Patrick Mahomes . In the waning minutes of a 19-17 victory Friday — one that wasn't secure until Las Vegas fumbled away a chance at a winning field goal with 15 seconds left — the Chiefs slid All-Pro left guard Joe Thuney out to tackle. When the rookie was getting beaten routinely for pressure and sacks, they switched to second-year pro Wanya Morris, who fared no better at protecting Patrick Mahomes . In the waning minutes of a 19-17 victory Friday — one that wasn't secure until Las Vegas fumbled away a chance at a winning field goal with 15 seconds left — the Chiefs slid All-Pro left guard Joe Thuney out to tackle. And while they didn't have much chance to work together, the move underscored what's been a season-long problem. “That was the right thing to do at the time,” Reid said afterward. “It just solidified things.” What is the solution moving forward? Well, the Chiefs signed former Pro Bowl left tackle D.J. Humphries last week, but he's been with the team for only a few days, and he's also coming off an ACL tear that sidelined him for the entire offseason. In a perfect world, Humphries would slide into the lineup in time for the Chiefs' game against the Chargers next Sunday. In a more realistic world, the Chiefs may need to make it through another week or two before he's ready to contribute, and that would mean putting Morris back into the lineup or keeping Thuney protecting Mahomes' blind side. “I would tell you it's disruptive to any offense when the quarterback is hit," Reid acknowledged, “and not able to get the ball off." Mahomes had gone 113 straight starts without being sacked five-plus times in a game; Carolina and Las Vegas have done it in consecutive weeks. And along with the sacks have been penalties on Morris and right tackle Jawaan Taylor, which have made it hard for a Kansas City offense that has had to adapt to injuries all season to consistently put together drives. “We have to make sure we clean those things up,” Reid said. “It's hard to go backwards in this league and win games.” Yet the Chiefs keep doing it. They have won an NFL-record 14 straight one-possession games, including five decided on the final play, this season. That has allowed them to piece together an 11-1 record and already clinch a postseason bye. “You're not satisfied with where we're at, even though we're winning football games,” Mahomes said. “Our goal over these last few games is to prove the team we really are going into the playoffs and play that way in the playoffs.” What’s working The passing game has started to produce — when Mahomes has time to throw — now that DeAndre Hopkins has become more ingrained in the offense. He had four catches for 90 yards against the Raiders, and his mere presence has opened things up for others, including Travis Kelce, who had seven catches for 68 yards. What needs help The Chiefs basically abandoned an unproductive running game against Las Vegas. Isiah Pacheco ran seven times for 44 yards in his return from an ankle injury, but 34 yards came on one carry. Kareem Hunt had 15 yards on his seven attempts. Stock up Two-time All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones had been held without a sack for seven consecutive games, but he managed to bring down Raiders quarterback Aidan O'Connell twice. That was important given how much trouble the Chiefs have had getting to the quarterback when they aren't blitzing this season. Stock down The entire Kansas City secondary has struggled for weeks, ever since cornerback Jaylen Watson was lost to a season-ending ankle injury. Nazeeh Johnson, Chamarri Conner and Bryan Cook in particular have been inconsistent in their coverage. Injuries The Chiefs made it through the Raiders game without any injuries. Key number 10 — The Chiefs have qualified for the playoffs for 10 consecutive seasons. That is the second-longest streak in NFL history behind the Patriots, who made it 11 straight years from 2009-19. Mumbai, Nov 30 (PTI) Italy can be the "landing base" for India to access the European market, a senior Italian Minister said on Saturday. In a similar way, India can act as the landing base for Italy, the European country’s minister for business and ‘Made in Italy’, Adolfo Urso, told PTI here. Speaking on the sidelines of 93-year-old Italian ship Amerigo Vespucci’s call on Mumbai port and the Villaggio Italia exposition arranged to coincide with that, Urso also said “new geopolitical events” make it necessary to consolidate the lines of communication between the two countries. “India can be for Europe the landing base in Asia in the great south-eastern Asian basin, and Italy can be for India the landing base in Europe, for the most significant and richest world market,” he said in an interview to PTI. The visiting minister added that this line of communication passes through the Arabian peninsula which has a very important place in the economic realm. While this is a preferred line of commercial communication between the two continents of Asia and Europe, the same route can also double up as a significantly important line of connectivity in terms of data and information, Urso said. “It is certainly the preferred main line of commercial communication between our continents, but it can also be the line of connectivity as regards the transport of data and therefore of information, on one side above the seas, maritime trade; on the other side under the seas, the connection lines that transport information and data,” he said. He also stressed the need to take India-Italy ties beyond commerce, and pitched for greater cooperation in other areas such as scientific advancement, technology and industrial production. The Vespucci’s call at Mumbai, the financial capital of India, is an attempt to get both the countries closer beyond commerce, the minister said. Speaking about the USD 14 billion per year bilateral trade, Urso said there is a need to increase the volume. “...we believe that at this stage we need to move to an industrial partnership, that is, to greater Indian investments in Italy to produce in Italy for the large and significant European market and also to greater Italian investments in India to make India the new and most important and significant production platform in Asia,” he said.
