Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Shibli Faraz refuted on Saturday the “false perception” that PTI founder Imran Khan was seeking relief for himself in negotiations with the PML-N-led coalition government. Addressing a joint press confrere flanked by Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly (NA) Omar Ayub Khan and former speaker of the lower house of parliament Asad Qaiser and others, Faraz said: “PTI founder stands firm on its principled stance and serving jail terms for the sake of people.” The 71-year-old cricketer-turned-politician has been behind bars since August last year after he was sentenced in Toshakhana case-I — one of the dozens cases registered against the former premier since his ouster from power in April 2022. The problem is that before we sit down, it is very important that the mistakes that were made by the people who are sitting down are accepted.” He said that two documents — the 1973 Constitution and the charter of democracy — were important political documents. What has happened in the past 15, 20 days that you have agreed for negotiations,” the PML-N leader said. “Someone tell me what the secret behind this is?
