Aussie stars Charley, Christian Wilkins and other top musicians flash their underwear and slip into very racy attires on the red carpet at the 2024 ARIA Awards By MARY MRAD FOR DAILY MAIL AUSTRALIA Published: 03:19, 30 December 2024 | Updated: 03:19, 30 December 2024 e-mail View comments Christian Wilkins has broken his silence about his change in appearance after appearing almost unrecognisable at the ARIA Awards . The model son of Nine veteran Richard Wilkins , 29, had a noticeably puffier face and striking facial contours at the event last month. Christian took to social media on Monday to explain to his followers he has been dealing with some 'pretty intense hormonal health issues'. 'The effects of this have been rapid weight gain and water retention in the face and abdomen,' he wrote. 'Off the back of this I've made the decision to finally address one of my contributing factors to the issue, my relationship with food and diet.' Christian explained he has gained over 23kgs in the past 18 months but his health has improved a lot since the beginning of the year. Christian Wilkins has broken his silence after turning heads at the ARIA Awards with a noticeably puffier face and striking facial contours. Pictured left in 2015 and right in 2024 'It's not a quick fix and continues to be something I'm working on,' he continued. He said he feels 'happier, healthier and more energised than I have for the majority of my adult life.' Christian added: 'I'm looking forward to 2025 and continuing to work on myself and my health and hope to leave this issue behind in 2024.' Christian's candid post comes after he sparked speculation about cosmetic surgery after unveiling his bold look at this year's ARIA awards. He was serving as the official red carpet host for the Australian music industry's night of nights when he showed off his muscular biceps in a halter-neck black gown with a red anthurium flower around the neckline. He gave himself a few extra inches with a pair of pointed black heels and accessorised with a dainty silver bangle and a coordinated thumb ring. He added to his bold ensemble with a dramatic slick of eyeliner and a bronzed make-up palette as he posed for the cameras. Lauren Robson, director of Lilly Cosmetic Clinic, suggested Christian's cheeks had possibly been injected with dermal filler. 'Instead of creating stronger masculine features, they've created a more feminised cheek by lifting and contouring,' she explained. 'In the lower face, they've enhanced the angles and definition by widening his jawline and defining the gonial angle.' Lauren also noted that Christian's top lip appeared overfilled. 'A more subtle filler approach would have been more aesthetically pleasing,' she said. Additionally, she pointed out that anti-wrinkle injections likely lifted his brows while also keeping forehead and frown lines at bay. Meanwhile, Body Sculpting Clinic's Dominika Gialouris also suggested that Christian had received dermal fillers, combined with advanced treatments like HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound). 'Filler works by integrating with the skin's tissue to restore or enhance volume and structure,' Dom explained. Christian explained he has gained over 23kgs in the past 18 months but his health has improved a lot since the beginning of the year. Pictured in 2022 Speaking to News Corp in 2023, Christian revealed that he was a big fan of supplements to keep his skin looking flawless. 'I'm a big believer in ingestibles! From being on set, my hair has seen a lot of damage, so I take Vida Glow Hairology every day, and hand on heart can see the difference,'the model revealed. 'Skincare wise, it changes every day because I get a lot of products sent to me and I want to try them all.' He also mentioned that he wasn't brand loyal when it came to keeping a glow. 'Always an under-eye cream ... I remember growing up in the halls of Channel Nine and the make-up girls telling me one day they can always tell when someone uses an under-eye cream or not. It stuck with me,' Christian added. Richard Wilkins ARIAS Share or comment on this article: Christian Wilkins reveals the serious reason why his appearance has radically changed e-mail Add comment

Monday, December 9, 2024 A recent poll revealed that over 56% of Thais plan to travel during the upcoming New Year holidays, with more than 90% opting for domestic destinations. However, alongside festive travel plans, nearly 60% of respondents expressed a desire for cash handouts from the government as New Year gifts to stimulate the economy and tourism. The poll, titled “Thais and New Year’s Gifts from the Government,” surveyed 1,246 respondents nationwide from December 3-6, 2024 , exploring public preferences on holiday travel, spending habits, and expectations for government intervention. These findings highlight significant financial burdens facing Thai citizens, with respondents prioritizing practical solutions over traditional holiday gestures. The survey also explored public opinion on the government’s role during the New Year period: Respondents also outlined urgent issues for government intervention ahead of the New Year, including: Pornpan Buathong , president of Suan Dusit Poll, noted that the survey results reflect deeper structural challenges within the economy, particularly the high cost of living and low economic stability. “The government should leverage the New Year season to implement long-term economic policies. Temporary measures like cash handouts must evolve into sustainable solutions to ensure economic stability and improve citizens’ quality of life,” Pornpan said. Similarly, Asst Prof Anchalee Rattana , a political science lecturer at Suan Dusit University, stressed that New Year policies should address structural issues, enabling citizens to “live with dignity, have adequate resources, and maintain self-respect.” The poll results underline the need for government action that extends beyond seasonal gestures. While measures such as cash handouts and cost-of-living reductions are popular, they also represent an opportunity for the government to establish a sustainable economic direction, ensuring a better quality of life for all Thai citizens throughout the year.* Gap surges after raising annual sales forecast * Intuit drops after forecasting Q2 results below estimates * Small caps touch over one-week high * Three major indexes post weekly gains (Updates as of the close) By Abigail Summerville and Johann M Cherian Nov 22 (Reuters) - Wall Street closed higher on Friday, with all three major indexes posting weekly gains, as investors took comfort from data pointing to robust economic activity in the world's biggest economy. A measure of business activity raced to a 31-month high in November, boosted by hopes for lower interest rates and more business-friendly policies from President-elect Donald Trump's administration next year. The domestically focused small-cap Russell 2000 index rose and outperformed large-cap indexes. The index hit its highest in more than a week and was set for weekly advances. Meanwhile, Alphabet fell following Thursday's 4% drop, as the U.S. Department of Justice argued to a judge the company was monopolizing online search. AI bellwether Nvidia also slipped in choppy trading following its quarterly forecast on Wednesday. An index tracking S&P 500 value stocks rose as investors rotated out of their growth peers. "I’ve been looking for this leadership change to go from technology to everything else. I think we may be in the midst of that shift. Small caps are acting much better, values are acting better," said Mark Hackett, Chief of Investment Research at Nationwide. According to preliminary data, the S&P 500 gained 19.55 points, or 0.33%, to end at 5,968.26 points, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 26.45 points, or 0.14%, to 18,998.87. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 423.28 points, or 0.96%, to 44,293.63. The S&P and the Dow reached one-week highs. Expectations on the Federal Reserve's policy move in December have recently swayed between a pause and a cut, as investors weighed the likely impact of Trump's plans on price pressures. There is a 59.6% probability the central bank will lower borrowing costs by 25 basis points, as per the CME Group's FedWatch Tool. Geopolitics were top of mind this week as investors monitored a missile exchange between Ukraine and Russia, after Moscow lowered its threshold for a nuclear retaliation. The markets are also awaiting Trump's Treasury Secretary pick. "The fact that we’ve been calm on a nice, steady stair step pattern higher is very encouraging and reflective of the fact that investors aren’t acting with the emotion that they could be given the amount of uncertainties we’ve faced," Hackett said. In company news, Gap Inc jumped after the Old Navy parent raised its annual sales forecast and said the holiday season was off to a "strong start". Intuit fell after the TurboTax parent projected second-quarter revenue and profit below Wall Street estimates on Thursday. The move, driven by concerns over Trump's rhetoric and actions, aims to shield key individuals from potential prosecution under a Trump-led administration. Names on the Potential Pardon List Among those being considered for these pre-emptive pardons are high-profile figures such as Senator Adam Schiff, former Representative Liz Cheney, and Dr. Anthony Fauci. These individuals have been the frequent targets of Trump's criticism with the former president openly calling for their prosecution during his rallies and on social media. Trump’s repeated claims that Schiff and Cheney committed acts warranting imprisonment, along with his previous comments on Fauci, highlight why these individuals might need such protections. Politico reports that senior aides, including Chief of Staff Jeff Zients, are involved in these discussions, though President Joe Biden himself has not directly engaged with the broader pardon strategy yet. His administration rejected others like John Eastman, who had proposed dubious legal theories related to the 2020 election. This precedent has heightened concerns about how a Trump administration might approach legal cases against his political adversaries. Democrats Divided on Pre-Emptive Pardons The discussions around blanket pardons have sparked debate within Democratic circles. While some see it as a necessary defensive measure, others, like Adam Schiff, view it as premature and potentially counterproductive. “I would urge the president not to do that,” Schiff told Politico, emphasizing the need for careful consideration. WASHINGTON (AP) — A machinists strike. Another safety problem involving its troubled top-selling airliner. A plunging stock price. 2024 was already a dispiriting year for Boeing, the American aviation giant. But when one of the company's jets crash-landed in South Korea on Sunday, killing all but two of the 181 people on board, it brought to a close an especially unfortunate year for Boeing. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and aviation experts were quick to distinguish Sunday's incident from the company’s earlier safety problems. Alan Price, a former chief pilot at Delta Air Lines who is now a consultant, said it would be inappropriate to link the incident Sunday to two fatal crashes involving Boeing’s troubled 737 Max jetliner in 2018 and 2019. In January this year, a door plug blew off a 737 Max while it was in flight, raising more questions about the plane. The Boeing 737-800 that crash-landed in Korea, Price noted, is “a very proven airplane. "It’s different from the Max ...It’s a very safe airplane.’’ For decades, Boeing has maintained a role as one of the giants of American manufacturing. But the the past year's repeated troubles have been damaging. The company's stock price is down more than 30% in 2024. The company's reputation for safety was especially tarnished by the 737 Max crashes, which occurred off the coast of Indonesia and in Ethiopia less than five months apart in 2018 and 2019 and left a combined 346 people dead. In the five years since then, Boeing has lost more than $23 billion. And it has fallen behind its European rival, Airbus, in selling and delivering new planes. Last fall, 33,000 Boeing machinists went on strike, crippling the production of the 737 Max, the company's bestseller, the 777 airliner and 767 cargo plane. The walkout lasted seven weeks, until members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers agreed to an offer that included 38% pay raises over four years. In January, a door plug blew off a 737 Max during an Alaska Airlines flight. Federal regulators responded by imposing limits on Boeing aircraft production that they said would remain in place until they felt confident about manufacturing safety at the company. In July, Boeing agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy to commit fraud for deceiving the Federal Aviation Administration regulators who approved the 737 Max. Acting on Boeing’s incomplete disclosures, the FAA approved minimal, computer-based training instead of more intensive training in flight simulators. Simulator training would have increased the cost for airlines to operate the Max and might have pushed some to buy planes from Airbus instead. (Prosecutors said they lacked evidence to argue that Boeing’s deception had played a role in the crashes.) But the plea deal was rejected this month by a federal judge in Texas, Reed O’Connor , who decided that diversity, inclusion and equity or DEI policies in the government and at Boeing could result in race being a factor in choosing an official to oversee Boeing’s compliance with the agreement. Boeing has sought to change its culture. Under intense pressure over safety issues, David Calhoun departed as CEO in August. Since January, 70,000 Boeing employees have participated in meetings to discuss ways to improve safety.Hidalgo helps No. 8 Notre Dame hold off Bueckers, No. 2 UConn in matchup of All-America guardsNone
