Indiana encouraged by 'total team effort' with Miami (OH) up next
Indiana got what it wanted Tuesday night in a 97-71 rout of Sam Houston State -- a lopsided victory where its bench played well and it didn't have to go down to the wire. The Hoosiers will look for more of the same Friday night in Bloomington when they continue their homestand against nonconference foe Miami (Ohio). Four players scored in double figures for Indiana (6-2) against the Bearkats, including 18 from reserve Luke Goode. The Illinois transfer hit four 3-pointers in less than four minutes of the first half, enabling the Hoosiers to take a 34-12 lead. Led by Goode, Indiana's bench contributed a whopping 36 points. "I thought it was a total team effort on everybody's part," Hoosiers coach Mike Woodson said. "Helps when your bench come off and play the way they did. Goode was fantastic but everybody off the bench played well." Indiana also got an encouraging 19-point performance from point guard Myles Rice, who struggled a bit in the first seven games in terms of making shots and running the offense. Rice (11.1 ppg) is one of four double-figure scorers in an attack led by Mackenzie Mgbako (16.8). Meanwhile, the RedHawks (5-2) are coming off a 73-60 home win Monday against Air Force. Bellarmine transfer Peter Suder poured in a career-high 42 points on 17-of-21 shooting, the highest-scoring game in program history since Wally Szczerbiak scored 43 in 1999. Suder, who averaged 10.5 ppg as a sophomore last season, is up to 17.4 ppg this season. He's hitting 58.8 percent of his field goals while also chipping in 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.6 steals. "I always say players win games, man. Coaches lose games," Miami coach Travis Steele told the Journal-News. "Peter was phenomenal. It was just get out of the way and just let him go." Forward Kam Craft, who Steele landed out of high school when he was still coaching at Xavier, is the RedHawks' second-leading scorer at 14.1 ppg. The Hoosiers have won 22 of the previous 25 meetings, including an 86-56 rout two years ago in Indianapolis. --Field Level Medialululemon athletica Board of Directors Authorizes $1 Billion Increase in Its Stock Repurchase Program
Smear, Manipulate, Control: Colleen Zamba’s sinister plot against Chakwera exposedSaquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles make their second-to-last road trip of the regular season Sunday to face Derrick Henry and the Baltimore Ravens. The NFC East-leading Eagles (9-2) have won seven in a row and play four of their final six games in Philadelphia, traveling only about 125 miles to visit the Ravens (8-4) this weekend and the Washington Commanders in Week 16. Sunday's game features the NFL's two leading rushers. Barkley (1,392 yards) and Henry (1,325) are far ahead of Green Bay's Josh Jacobs (944) in third place. Henry leads the league with 13 rushing touchdowns. Barkley (10) is tied for fourth and Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts (11) tied for second. The matchup also features two of the top candidates for Most Valuable Player honors entering Week 13 in Barkley and Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson, who won his second MVP award last season. Their competition includes quarterbacks Josh Allen of Buffalo and Jared Goff of Detroit, with Allen widely considered the favorite. "Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry are phenomenal football players that help their team win football games, and Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley are phenomenal football players that help their team win football games," Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said. "Excited about the opportunity this week because it's our next one. It will be a really good opponent, really well coached, good players, good atmosphere that will be there. Excited about the opportunity this week. And we're going to have to be on it against a really good team." The showdown at M&T Bank Stadium also pits Baltimore's No. 1 offense (426.7 yards per game) and No. 2 scoring offense (30.3 points per game) against Philadelphia's No. 1 defense (274.6) and No. 6 scoring defense (18.1). The Eagles have held seven consecutive opponents to under 300 total yards, while the Ravens have gained at least 329 yards of offense in all 11 games. Philadelphia is coming off a 37-20 road win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night in which Barkley smashed the franchise record with 255 rushing yards. Baltimore also earned a prime-time win in Los Angeles, defeating the Chargers 30-23 in the "Harbaugh Bowl" on Monday night behind Jackson's three touchdowns (two passing, one rushing). Jackson said he's looking forward to the Barkley and Henry show. "I've known Saquon from high school. We were in the all-star game together and he jumped over somebody's head," Jackson recalled Wednesday. "So I've pretty much seen him before I even got to the league, college, anything. I've been knowing about Saquon, but Derrick Henry -- King Henry -- I'm with him every day and I'm seeing what he's capable of, so it's going to be a great matchup." Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith practiced Wednesday after sitting out Monday with a hamstring issue. Nose tackle Michael Pierce (calf) was designated to return from injured reserve. Tight end Charlie Kolar (broken arm) is out for several weeks and cornerback Arthur Maulet (calf) did not practice. The Eagles lost veteran defensive end Brandon Graham to a season-ending triceps injury Sunday. Wideout DeVonta Smith (hamstring) missed the win over the Rams and did not practice Wednesday. Neither did cornerbacks Darius Slay (concussion) or Kelee Ringo (calf). Philadelphia is 5-1 away from home this season -- 6-1 if you count their season-opening "home" victory against the Packers in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Baltimore is 4-1 at home. The Ravens hold a 3-2-1 lead in the series with the Eagles. They haven't met since Baltimore's 30-28 win in Week 6 at Philadelphia in 2020. --Field Level MediaFlames visit the Senators after shootout win
No player in NBA history put fear deeper into the hearts of his opponents than the great . The Chicago Bulls legend's competitive fire burned so bright that foes never dared to look at him, much less engage in friendly banter. However, there was one player who found a workaround to escape MJ's wrath: three-time All-Star . Majerle was an integral part of the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat squads that battled Jordan and the Bulls in the 1990s, which meant he crossed paths with the 6'6" wingman from Wilmington, North Carolina, on numerous occasions, including the 1993 NBA Finals. While other players tried various tactics to try and get "Air Jordan" off his game, "Thunder Dan" had a different, friendlier approach. WOLF Hall has returned to BBC One, but only two episodes into its second season and it's been heavily criticised. Yet actually the BBC drama doesn't deserve the flack it's getting. 5 Wolf Hall viewers have been grossed out by the brutal scenes, but it's what would have happened Credit: BBC 5 The Tudor times weren't full of romps and excitement, they would have been dark and political Credit: PA Viewers have said it's "too slow" or that it's "boring" as they crave drama and excitement. Yet from the brutal execution scenes of Anne Boleyn to the chess-like power play from Cromwell around King Henry VIII, this is the reality of Tudor Britain and it certainly wasn't pretty. When Anne Boleyn's beheading aired at the beginning of episode one of the new series, viewers claimed they were 'traumatised' by the blood and gore. Yet it's a beheading so I don't know why viewers were expecting anything less than a brutal death. More on Wolf Hall blast to the past Wolf Hall’s return sees child actors from huge films star in period drama full house The top BBC period dramas to binge as Wolf Hall finally returns after 9yr wait Boleyn's death might have come from a French swordsman who did it quickly but there was always going to be blood and it was never going to be a clean death. The reality is that despite this being a drama based off Hilary Mantle's historical fiction, the Tudor times were still a dark part of history. That means romps, sexual tension and growing romances don't really have a place here. If you're looking for soft moments, sweet glances between lovers and falling in love then look to Bridgerton or another period drama, because Wolf Hall isn't it. The man's eyebrows can say more than a whole scene of dialogue, and he's portraying the quick thinking mind of Cromwell expertly. Wolf Hall Season 1 trailer starring Damian Lewis, Mark Gatiss and Claire Foy Cromwell was ultimately the orchestra of Henry's split from Catharine of Aragon, his set up with Boleyn and then the next marriage to quiet Jane Seymour. There were no sword fights, daring duels or explosive rows, but ultimately smart moves, political alliances and engineered conversations was how Cromwell created the Tudor history we know about. As a Tudor history fan and someone who has been eagerly awaiting the second series of Wolf Hall the minute the first ended, this second season hasn't left me disappointed. In fact if anything I'm more in awe of how the drama is retelling the Hilary Mantle historical fiction and how its developing the Tudor court on screen. When I find myself craving a romance I'll look to the next season of Bridgerton or the romance in series like Sanditon or Outlander. 5 Mark Rylance as Cromwell is the perfect casting Credit: PA 5 Wolf Hall is showing us the Tudor Britain as it would have been, without happy endings Credit: BBC 5 The drama is perfect, and doesn't need exciting plot twists or dramatic scenes Credit: BBC

Grappling sensation Mikey Musumeci is open to the idea of competing in mixed martial arts in the future, but only after he helps popularize jiu-jitsu under the UFC banner. The former ONE grappling champion left the Asian organization and signed a unique deal with the UFC to compete on their UFC Fight Pass Invitational shows, starting with a Dec. 5 match with Felipe Machado in Las Vegas, and explained his plans in an interview with MMA Fighting after being introduced as a big signing during UFC 309 this past weekend at Madison Square Garden. “It’s all so incredible to me,” Musumeci said. “We’re trying to change the sport. It all started with IBJJF, which was important, but now we can grow the sport to a more professional place for other people. This is my dream. I have enough titles already, I don’t want more titles. The only thing I want is to have an impact for the future generation, so they have an organization where they can make enough money.” Being tied to the world’s leading MMA organization could facilitate Musumeci securing bigger deals in a future transition to the sport, and he’s interested. “I have the desire to maybe do MMA again in the future,” Musumeci said. “I’m young, my body is very young. I’ve never taken steroids, so my body is like 20, 21, actually. I can have many more years of competition still. “Being in the UFC now, I’ll have the opportunity to train with a lot more people that I wouldn’t in the past, and learn from them on the feet, takedowns, wrestling. The first thing I loved in life was MMA. If I can have the opportunity to fight MMA in the UFC, that’s going to be a dream, too. I want to do MMA, but the gift God has given me was jiu-jitsu, so I have to grow our sport first. I can’t leave our sport before helping it grow to a place where other people, other kids can have an organization to compete at in the future.” The 28-year-old said his ideal game for a MMA fight would be the combination of Ryan Hall , Khabib Nurmagomedov and Khamzat Chimaev fighting styles. He trains with Gilbert Burns , who has given him his black belt in jiu-jitsu, and often works with former UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno to add more weapons to his skillset. “I have so many good people in my life,” Musumeci said. “But, again, like I said, I want to help the sport of jiu-jitsu grow first. I have that obligation, this desire in my heart, to help out sport first. And then I can do something crazy [laughs].” Musumeci competed exclusively under the ONE Championship banner since April of 2022 and said it was “an incredible part of my life.” He parted ways with the promotion shortly after a cancelled match that left him hospitalized with “a life-threatening condition” from a botched weight cut. “I’m very grateful to Chatri [Sityodtong] for the opportunity he’s given me,” Musumeci said. “I had three amazing years there. I’ve learned so much from him, he’s helped a lot in my life. The only thing I’ll say about him and ONE is that I’m grateful for everything they have done.” The concept at ONE Championship was to build cards that included not only MMA bouts, but also grappling, kickboxing and muay thai, and Musumeci said it was a great way to introduce jiu-jitsu to fans from other martial arts. “And now the UFC has many, many plans for grappling,” Musumeci said. “They want to grow our sport to other people as well. The thing I loved about ONE was that MMA and may thai people watching jiu-jitsu, and the UFC will grow our sport that people will start watching and loving jiu-jitsu, too.” The four-time IBJJF champion celebrates the fact the UFC giving grapplers a “safer” environment to compete at, too. “The problem with many organizations now, brother, is that [athletes] are not safe,” Musumeci said. “Sometimes they have money, sometimes they don’t. Too much politics. Now, with the UFC, we finally have an organization that will be safe and more professional with other people. My dream is to make this sport grow.” Musumeci left ONE with seven wins in seven matches, including submissions over Shinya Aoki and Jarred Brooks . His first challenge in Las Vegas will be a match with Felipe Machado on the week of UFC 310 , and he embraces the pressure that comes from being a star. “I have so f***ing pressure this time,” Musumeci laughed. “I have the biggest pressure ever this time but I love it because I grow from pressure. I’m used to this kind of pressure. You feel like you’re dying, but then you get used to dying. I’m blessed by that pressure, and I’m using all this pressure as energy to have more hunger in the gym. You’ll see a hungry Musumeci looking to finish the match.”
In this final five-day sprint for the election line, that indefatigable species, the Irish political begrudger, is at last taking centre stage. Strange things can happen in the final campaign days, as more and more voters decide their vote pick later and later. As Fine Gael activists ponder dark news from the latest Ireland Thinks/Sunday Independent poll, they might have a certain feeling which harks back to 2007, when Enda Kenny’s hopes of an against-the-odds win were dashed as Bertie Ahern did a Lazarus job.
