During the meeting, officials briefed the Prime Minister on the installation and monitoring of video analytics in the sugar industry. Highlighting the importance of technology, the Prime Minister said, “Improving the Federal board of Revenue’s (FBR) performance through technology is the government’s top priority.” He emphasized that the use of video analytics in the sugar industry would significantly improve revenue collection, eliminate hoarding, and help stabilize prices. “Our utmost effort is to ensure the availability of sugar at affordable prices for the public,” he stated, directing regular monitoring of sugar stocks to maintain an uninterrupted supply chain. Specifically, you can text with ChatGPT through and by calling a toll-free phone number. AI by landline has arrived. Naturally, the number to call or message is 1-800-CHATGPT. You can start a conversation with ChatGPT on WhatsApp by texting 1-800-242-8478 on the app. You can message ChatGPT like any other WhatsApp but get responses matching those from the free tier of ChatGPT on the mobile app or website. Not every ChatGPT feature is available on WhatsApp either. You can’t ask the AI to search for things online or analyze images, at least for now. If you’d rather have your AI answers by audio, you can pick up your phone to dial 1-800-CHATGPT (that’s 1-800-242-8478), and a very friendly, very human-like female voice will answer all the same queries you might type out to send to ChatGPT. The experience is pretty much like ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode, where you ask questions, and the AI responds in real-time. It can help you translate a sentence, give recommendations, or chat about whatever’s on your mind. Search AI There are obvious accessibility benefits to OpenAI in making ChatGPT far more globally available, even with all of the limits and caveats. It’s the same reason set up a phone number for Google Assistant that people could call to interact with the voice assistant. But, it also points to how OpenAI and its rivals want to see AI integrated into more communication channels. That’s why both OpenAI and were keen to add ChatGPT capabilities to Siri, augmenting the iOS assistant with the AI model. There are also limits to ChatGPT on WhatsApp and by phone. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) announced on Wednesday that, beginning in the 2025–2026 academic year, undergraduates from families earning less than $200,000 annually with typical assets will be eligible to attend MIT tuition-free. This initiative is part of MIT’s expanded financial aid program aimed at increasing accessibility for a broader range of students, according to the university, which says the new policy will increase current aid eligibility thresholds. Additionally, families with total incomes below $100,000 with typical assets will not be expected to contribute toward their student’s MIT education, including tuition, housing, dining, fees, and an allowance for books and personal expenses. Meanwhile, students are still expected to contribute toward their own expenses through summer savings and employment during the school year. This $100,000 threshold is up from $75,000 this year, while next year’s $200,000 threshold for tuition-free attendance will increase from its current level of $140,000. School officials said these measures are designed to make an MIT education more affordable and accessible to a diverse student body. “MIT’s distinctive model of education — intense, demanding, and rooted in science and engineering — has profound practical value to our students and to society,” MIT President Sally Kornbluth said in a press release . “The cost of college is a real concern for families across the board, and we’re determined to make this transformative educational experience available to the most talented students, whatever their financial circumstances. So, to every student out there who dreams of coming to MIT: Don’t let concerns about cost stand in your way. ” MIT does not require students who are on financial aid to take out loans and does not offer preferential treatment to children of alumni or donors. “We believe MIT should be the preeminent destination for the most talented students in the country interested in an education centered on science and technology, and accessible to the best students regardless of their financial circumstances,” said Stu Schmill, MIT’s dean of admissions and student financial services. “With the need-based financial aid we provide today, our education is much more affordable now than at any point in the past,” Schmill, who graduated from MIT in 1986, “even though the ‘sticker price’ of MIT is higher now than it was when I was an undergraduate.” MIT’s endowment is funded by contributions from individual alumni and supporters, according to school officials. “Today’s announcement is a powerful expression of how much our graduates value their MIT experience ... On Friday, a federal appeals court decision further threatened the social media app’s future in the United States. The panel upheld a law that could lead to a nationwide ban if TikTok’s parent company ByteDance, which is based in China, refuses to sell its stake by Jan. 19. That deadline is just one day before Trump takes office. The law at the center of the case, now potentially headed to the Supreme Court, passed earlier this year with broad bipartisan support in Congress. Anupam Chander, a professor of law and technology at Georgetown University, said Trump can’t undo the law with an executive order, but he can pressure lawmakers to repeal it. "He can't reverse the law with a stroke of the pen, but he can undermine the law in a variety of ways,” Chander said. If a ban takes effect, the law would prohibit app stores from offering TikTok and internet hosting services from supporting it. Chander said that under Trump’s leadership, the Justice Department could limit enforcement or impact the legal battle. "All he can do is implore either the judges to side with him or to implore the various companies to not actually obey the law,” Chander said. TikTok argues the law violates First Amendment rights, while supporters believe the app's ties to China pose a threat to national security. "Every technology company in China under Chinese law has to do whatever the Chinese government tells them to do,” Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Florida, told reporters earlier this year. Rubio, who Trump recently nominated for Secretary of State, is one of several cabinet picks who were previously at the forefront of efforts to crack down on TikTok. Trump previously supported a ban on TikTok during his first term but, more recently, he campaigned on rescuing the app. "For all of those who want to save TikTok in America, vote for Trump. The other side is closing it up, but I’m now a big star on TikTok,” Trump said in a social media video in September. Karoline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for the transition team, didn’t provide specific details about how Trump plans to intervene, but she said “he will deliver.” “The American people re-elected President Trump by a resounding margin giving him a mandate to implement the promises he made on the campaign trail,” Leavitt furthered in a statement. It’s possible that Trump could try to negotiate a new deal with TikTok. The law allows for a three-month extension if a sale is in progress, but that could prove challenging. The companies have claimed divestiture is not possible. The Supreme Court could also put implementation on hold if the justices decide to take up the case.
