Trump threatened to impose a 25% tax on all products entering the U.S. from Canada and Mexico.Jalandhar: Sikh seminary Damdami Taksal , whose head Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma has been criticised by some Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders for extending support to BJP-led Mahayuti in the Maharashtra assembly election, remained at loggerheads with SAD, especially with Parkash Singh Badal, till both sides forged an alliance during SGPC general election of 2011. This bitterness with Badal senior had started after the Nirankari-Sikh clash of April 13, 1978, at Amritsar, in which 13 Sikhs were killed, during Badal’s second term as the chief minister. This clash became the biggest reason for emergence of then Taksal head Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale to prominence and in the subsequent years he took central place in the Sikh affairs. After the Army action of June 1984, Taksal had several run-ins with Akali Dal as well as with Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). Till the alliance of 2011, Taksal had been a rallying point for alternate voices and Sikh organisations and with the alliance Taksal left the alternate space for other Sikh groups and Sikh preachers to emerge to prominence and to push the alternate narratives and politics, which were at variance from SAD led Badals. Since then, Badals-led Akali Dal has been facing a challenge from the scattered forces within Sikhs at the level of narratives, though none has been able to give challenge at organisation level. This also became evident during Bargari sacrilege and Behbal Kalan police firing in 2015, later during Bargari morcha of 2018, and recently with the emergence of Amritpal Singh, now Khadoor Sahib MP. In lieu of losing this space, there was major gain also for the Taksal, as during this time Taksal and other sampardas (traditional groups) and Sikh deras, which earlier remained on the margins as far as decision-making process of SGPC and Sikh high priests was concerned, started wielding major influence over the central Sikh institutions. “Earlier, Taksal or other sampardas they would have no influence in decision-making even as several granthis were coming from Taksal background and a few of them also rose to prominence, but after Sant Samaj led by Taksal chief openly aligned with SAD, they started having major influence in decision-making also,” said former SGPC secretary Kulwant Singh Randhawa, who has authored two books on the Sikh body and Sikh affairs. Looking at Akali Dal’s rout in successive elections, since 2014 Lok Sabha election, despite Taksal and Sant Samaj openly supporting them, it appears that their influence over SGPC and central Sikh institutions was far greater than the electoral benefit to Badals-led SAD. The flip side of this alliance was that those sections of Sikhs, including some prominent Sikh preachers, who had ideological or other differences with Taksal and sampardas, especially on the issue of Sikh Rehat Maryada (code of conduct) turned against Badals strongly. This was a contributing factor in the 2014 Lok Sabha election when SAD lost space to AAP, and in subsequent elections too. At the same time, Taksal chief also took a lot of criticism for siding with Badals, especially after 2015. “In the last 10 years Taksal chief has faced character assassination for the sake of SAD....and always told us that we shall stand with Badal. Now these minions with trimmed beards are lecturing Taksal,” posted Taksal spokesperson Gurdeep Singh Naulakha on his Facebook on Wednesday.

The redshirt freshman's left ankle was caught at an awkward angle beneath Louisville defensive end Ashton Gillotte's hip on a twisting tackle for a 4-yard loss at midfield. Panthers medical personnel rushed to Holstein's aid, with a cart arriving quickly on the field within minutes. Holstein’s leg was placed in a boot before he was helped onto the cart. He gave a thumbs-up to nearby teammates as he left the field to applause before being taken a hospital. Holstein started for the Panthers (7-3, 3-3 ACC) after missing last week’s 24-20 home loss to No. 17 Clemson with a head injury sustained in the previous game against Virginia while sliding at the end of a run. He left an Oct. 24 game against Syracuse after taking a hit, but returned against SMU the following week. Holstein completed 3 of 4 passes for 51 yards before being intercepted in the end zone by Louisville's Stanquan Clark on the game-opening possession. He was relieved by junior Nate Yarnell. There's another Kelce about to enter the mediasphere. Kylie Kelce is starting a podcast. On Monday, Kelce, the wife of former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman and current ESPN analyst Jason Kelce, announced she is starting a new show, "Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce," which will debut on Thursday, December 5. Produced by Wave Sports and Entertainment, which also produces the popular "New Heights" podcast featuring Jason and Travis Kelce, "Not Gonna Lie" will drop new episodes every Thursday. "Listen, I'm just as shocked as you that I'm starting a podcast, but if everyone's going to be talking about me and my family, you might as well hear it from me." Kelce said in the YouTube trailer for her show. We're so used to seeing Jason and Travis in the spotlight, and Kylie and Donna Kelce, the brothers' mom, have also been increasingly in the public eye since last year. That's not to mention Taylor Swift. The reactions to Kylie Kelce's announcement contained a mix of congratulations and people complaining that another Kelce was going to be talking to them. NBC/Getty Images "I am obsessed with the fact that Kylie Kelce is making her own podcast cause she got so annoyed with people talking about her family and decided 'fine. We can talk, but you'll hear it from the source. so shut up.' GO QUEEN @nglwithkylie ," one person said . "Riding the coat tails of her husband.... Not cool," a second person countered. "You guys sound bitter. Good for her! There’s this novel idea that I’ve come up with.. if you don’t want to hear her or the Kelces anymore, don’t listen," another person said. "Just have her replace @tkelce couldn’t be more annoying!" said someone who is apparently not fond of Travis. "Love it!!!" a fifth person added. While we're happy for Kylie, we also want to acknowledge this isn't the most important announcement she's made lately. Over the weekend, she and Jason announced they were expecting their fourth child, a girl. Their previous three children were also girls. NoneWASHINGTON — A ninth U.S. telecoms firm has been confirmed to have been hacked as part of a sprawling Chinese espionage campaign that gave officials in Beijing access to private texts and phone conversations of an unknown number of Americans, a top White House official said Friday. Biden administration officials said this month that at least eight telecommunications companies , as well as dozens of nations, had been affected by the Chinese hacking blitz known as Salt Typhoon. But deputy national security adviser Anne Neuberger told reporters Friday that a ninth victim had been identified after the administration released guidance to companies about how to hunt for Chinese culprits in their networks. The update from Neuberger is the latest development in a massive hacking operation that has alarmed national security officials, exposed cybersecurity vulnerabilities in the private sector and laid bare China's hacking sophistication. The hackers compromised the networks of telecommunications companies to obtain customer call records and gain access to the private communications of what officials have said is a a limited number of individuals. Though the FBI has not publicly identified any of the victims, officials believe senior U.S. government officials and prominent political figures are among those whose whose communications were accessed. Neuberger said Friday that officials did not yet have a precise sense how many Americans overall were affected by Salt Typhoon, in part because the Chinese were careful about their techniques, but that a “large number" were in the Washington-Virginia area. Officials believe the goal of the hackers was to identify who owned the phones and, if they were “government targets of interest,” spy on their texts and phone calls, she said. The FBI said most of the people targeted by the hackers are "primarily involved in government or political activity.” Neuberger said the episode highlighted the need for required cybersecurity practices in the telecommunications industry, something the Federal Communications Commission is to take up at a meeting next month. In addition, she said, the government was planning additional actions in coming weeks in response to the hacking campaign, though she did not say what they were. “We know that voluntary cyber security practices are inadequate to protect against China, Russia and Iran hacking of our critical infrastructure,” she said. The Chinese government has denied responsibility for the hacking. An online debate over foreign workers in tech shows tensions in Trump’s political coalition

Ange Postecoglou explains angry exchange with Tottenham fans after Bournemouth defeat: 'I'm a human being'Rakesh Kumar and Sai Chowdary are preparing to launch the Friends Convenience Store on Blackwellgate on Friday (November 22), in the former Durtona Kitchens and Bathrooms. The duo - who have been friends themselves for two years after meeting in Newcastle - decided to take over the vacant unit in a bid to bring a new offering to the town’s Imperial Quarter. And while you might not bump into Monica, Rachel, or Phoebe, the new shop will stock everything from sweets and drinks to bread and milk. Coffee will also be served up inside the shop - but instead of a barista called Gunther pouring your hot beverage, the venue will have its own machine, available until 11pm. Rakesh Kumar and Sai Chowdary in the new Friends Convenience Store (Image: THE NORTHERN ECHO) The 26-year-old and 24-year-old say thousands has been spent revamping the empty space, which is set to remain open until 3am every day. Rakesh told The Northern Echo this week: “We saw there was no other similar store nearby and spoke to a few people in the area. “Most people around this area are here for their offices and want things like coffee and snacks. At the minute they need to walk 0.7 or 0.8 of a mile to get it.” The Friends Convenience Store (Image: THE NORTHERN ECHO) After weeks of works, the store is now set to serve its first customers on Friday. Rakesh added: “We’ll be serving coffee from a vending machine in the shop until 11pm at night. “We’re going to sell confectionary, so sweets, chocolate, biscuits, and pop, as well as e-cigarettes, tobacco, and vapes. We’ll also sell milk and bread.” The pair first got the keys to the unit on October 15, and have been working hard with the help of the landlord and property agent. The Friends Convenience Store (Image: THE NORTHERN ECHO) They are currently in the process of applying for an alcohol license as works continue on getting the shopfloor ready for its first customers. The store will have several offers on at a fixed price, including cans of Monster on offer for £1.49 instead of £1.69, or two for £3, with Red Bull cans up for grabs for £1 instead of £1.55 RRP. Earlier this month, new signs were erected on the Blackwellgate unit for the store, with the name and logo being a clear nod to the popular 90s TV show of the same name. While the font may be familiar to the American series’ logo, the difference lies in the red dots separating the letters. Rakesh, who previously lived in Crook before going to Nottingham Trent University to complete a masters in quantity surveying, continued: “There is no issue for us to keep the Friends name. “The only thing that is the same [as the show] is the font. We have changed the colour of the dots to a single colour of red, whereas the Friends logo has red, blue, and yellow.”NoneWNBA's Caitlin Clark is making everyone around her wealthier

The biggest threat to markets and the economy in 2025Wall Street stocks stumbled on Friday as major companies saw their shares fall towards the end of a holiday week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 0.8 percent to 42,992, while the broad-based S&P 500 slid 1.1 percent to 5,970. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index plunged 1.5 percent to 19,722. Steve Sosnick of Interactive Brokers said the sell-off caught many people by surprise. "I think a lot of people got very complacent about the idea that we would have a Santa Claus rally," he added. He was referring to a tendency for markets to fare well in the last five trading days of the year, and the first two in the new year. "The selling is very much across-the-board. There's not an obvious catalyst for it today," said Sosnick, noting that the trend was more ferocious as volumes were light. Major companies in particular saw their shares fall, with Microsoft slipping 1.7 percent. Amazon lost 1.4 percent, while Nvidia dropped 2.0 percent. Peter Cardillo of Spartan Capital said the slump was both a "year-end adjustment" and due to a rise in US Treasury bond yields. "That's putting the brakes on, applying the brakes to the market," he said. (AFP)NoneCowboys G Zack Martin, CB Trevon Diggs out vs. Commanders
