The ( ) has been one of the best-performing funds in 2024. But I don't think this will be the end of the long-term gains. As we can see on the chart above, the FANG ETF has climbed a hefty 41% this year. In comparison, the (ASX: XJO) has climbed by 10% — not a bad result, but a significant underperformance to the FANG ETF. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance, of course, and I'm certainly not expecting the FANG ETF to rise another 40% in the next year. But I do believe that this fund, which provides access to leading US technology companies, can beat the ASX 200 again over the next five years. Here's why. While not guaranteed to occur, incoming United States president Donald Trump has indicated he wants to reduce business taxes to 15%, down from 21%. yet. I'm sure more details will come in due course. But I wouldn't be surprised if the businesses inside the FANG ETF see their taxes reduced to some degree, which would boost their . Investors typically value a business on how much profit they're making and could make in the future. A taxation boost to EPS should theoretically boost the share price. The FANG ETF is not known for strong . It has only 10 positions that are designed to be equally weighted. But I think these companies have been and can continue to be wonderful investments. Currently, the FANG portfolio holds these 10 giant technology businesses: These companies are among the best in the world at what they do, whether that's smartphones, device software, social media (such as Instagram), online video, online search, cybersecurity, e-commerce, cloud computing, AI and more. They also typically have strong profit margins, excellent and effective management. Considering the world is becoming increasingly technological, and that these companies are some of the entities driving that change, this area of the global share market is where I'd want at least some of my money, whether that's through the FANG ETF or a different investment. I often say that, in the business world, winners keep winning. Companies like Microsoft, Apple and Alphabet are so far ahead of the competition that it may be almost impossible for others to catch up starting from scratch. With their high , it makes sense for these winners to retain and reinvest profits in improving their products or services and developing new offerings. In my opinion, these companies' rising profits are likely to lead to ongoing capital growth, even if they start with relatively high . The FANG ETF has returned an average of 20% per annum over the past three years. While the next three years aren't guaranteed to be as good, I think the FANG ETF has plenty of capability to outperform the ASX 200.

RJ Thompson scored 23 points -- including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 56 seconds left -- as Charleston Southern shocked host Miami 83-79 on Saturday afternoon. Miami entered the game as a 23.5-point favorite. Charleston (2-7) won its first game of the season away from home after losing its previous six road or neutral-court contests. The Buccaneers also got 21 points from Thompson Camara and 20 points and 11 rebounds from Taje' Kelly. Camara match his previous career point total. Miami (3-4), playing at home for the first time in two weeks, lost its fourth straight game. Brandon Johnson led Miami with 23 points and freshman Austin Swartz scored a career-high 15. Swartz entered the game averaging just 2.3 points For the first time this season, Miami was without Nijel Pack, who has a lower-body injury. Pack leads the team in scoring (15.2) and assists (4.7). With Pack out, five-star freshman Jalil Bethea made his first start and had six points. The game featured quite a contrast in coaches. Miami's Jim Larranaga, 75, has won 743 games in 41-plus seasons. Charleston Southern's Saah Nimley, 31, is in his full first season as a head coach. He was named interim coach in November 2023. In the first half, Miami raced to a 17-10 lead. However, Charleston Southern posted an 11-0 run to grab a 21-17 advantage. The Hurricanes lost control late in the first half as Miami's Johnson hit a 3-pointer and was hit with a technical foul for taunting. Later in the first half, Larranaga was also hit with a technical. By the end of the half, the Buccaneers led 45-37. Camara led Charleston Southern with 16 first-half points on 6-for-7 shooting, including 4-of-5 on 3-pointers. Johnson scored 12 for Miami in the opening half, all on 3-pointers. In the second half, Charleston Southern stretched its lead to 13. Miami rallied as the clock wound down. With 38 seconds left, Miami called a timeout while trailing 81-79. With 15 seconds left, Swartz missed a 3-pointer and the Buccaneers got the rebound. Daylen Berry made two free throws with 11 seconds left to ice the game. Up next, Miami will host No. 19 Arkansas on Tuesday night as part of the ACC/SEC Challenge. Charleston Southern will return home to face Tennessee-Martin on Tuesday night. --Field Level MediaBoxing officials call for safety as priority: 'What happened could have been avoided'CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec 10, 2024-- Neal Gerber Eisenberg (NGE) today announced plans to move to The Bell (225 West Randolph Street), a newly renovated Chicago landmark, from its current office at Two North Lasalle Street in May 2025. The new location, recently rebranded The Bell in a nod to its origins as the Illinois Bell Building, opened in 1966 and was designated a Chicago landmark in 2021. The firm will occupy floors 27 through 29 of the historic tower. Attorneys and staff will enjoy new offices designed to maximize natural light, featuring sit-stand desks in each office and workstation, and interactive technologies in conference rooms and collaborative workspaces. The firm will also have access to three floors of building amenities. CBRE represented NGE in the lease negotiations with The Onni Group, the building owner. Clune Construction Company is the general contractor for the office space construction, with Gensler heading the effort to design the new space. Novo Sustainability is advising the firm on sustainability and environmental impact. "As one of the largest single-office law firms in the country, we believe in downtown Chicago—in its diversity, its history, and the community we've been proud to be a part of for nearly 40 years," said Bobby Gerber, Managing Partner of NGE. "Our move to this historic building underscores our commitment to the city, and we look forward to calling it our home for many years to come." “NGE’s first relocation in over 30 years presented a significant opportunity to deliver new office space that excites and energizes the firm’s clients, attorneys and staff,” added Todd Lippman, Vice Chairman, CBRE. “NGE partnered with CBRE to outline the detailed priorities for their new space and undertook a careful selection process to identify the location in line with NGE's current needs and plans for future growth. Ultimately, The Bell's best-in-class amenities and optimal location in the heart of Chicago align with NGE's goal of providing premium office space in an innovative work setting.” A Positive Impact on Chicago In developing their new space, NGE ensured it was making a positive impact on Chicago. NGE required contractors to demonstrate how they give back to the city and actively foster a diverse workforce. “During the preconstruction phase, NGE COO Sonia Menon challenged us to move beyond conventional hiring practices, encouraging meaningful conversations with trade partners about their commitments to social, environmental, and governance principles,” said Andy Holub, Senior Vice President, Clune Construction Company. “This approach enabled us to build a diverse bidders list and prioritize companies based on partnerships with minority and women owned business enterprises, charitable initiatives, and efforts to provide a diverse on-site workforce. These discussions often served as tiebreakers in the selection process, rewarding trade partners whose values aligned with our teams. With the support of Gensler, CBRE, and NGE, we demonstrated the power of collaboration in achieving both project success and societal impact. Inspired by this process, we plan to incorporate these practices into future projects, making it easier to identify trade partners who share our core values while advancing equity, sustainability, and community engagement in the industry.” Championing a Greener Future NGE has long prioritized sustainability as part of its commitment to being a responsible organization in Chicago and around the world. This commitment was reaffirmed throughout the new office buildout and in the firm’s purchasing decisions. The firm hopes to achieve the highest possible LEED certification and Zero Carbon certification for its new space. In 2023, NGE was one of four firms globally to receive a top rating from the All Legal Industry Sustainability Standard assessment. "At Neal Gerber Eisenberg, sustainability is not just a goal—it is a fundamental value that influences every decision we make," said Sonia Menon, Chief Operating Officer for NGE and Chair of the firm’s Sustainability Committee. "Our new office at The Bell is a testament to this commitment. From implementing energy-efficient systems to reusing existing furniture and selecting zero-carbon-based materials, every aspect of our new space is designed to significantly reduce our carbon footprint and promote a healthier, more sustainable future. We are proud to set new standards for sustainability in the legal industry and look forward to expanding these initiatives at The Bell." NGE’s new office will feature materials and furniture from renowned sustainable brands such as Haworth, Andreu World, and Kielhauer, chosen for their focus on sustainability, innovative design, and lower environmental impact. The Bell’s redevelopment includes a state-of-the-art Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) HVAC system for enhanced energy efficiency and superior climate control. Combined with double-paned argon-gas windows, this significantly reduces energy consumption. Additionally, Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems (DOAS) units with energy recovery wheels ensure a continuous supply of fresh air while minimizing energy loss. “NGE’s pursuit of LEED Platinum Certification and Zero Carbon Certification underscores their dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainability. With a strong focus on energy and water efficiency, as well as embodied carbon reduction through materials reuse and the prioritization of locally sourced products, this project will set a new standard for all professional services firms—and especially the legal industry,” said Laci Hoskins, founder and principal, Novo Sustainability. “Achieving these milestone certifications will inspire other organizations by proving what is possible when a firm truly integrates sustainable practices throughout the design, construction, and operations of its office.” Leading-Edge Design for Enhanced Collaboration The new office will promote in-person teamwork in the hybrid work era. Each corner of the new space will be devoted to a collaborative workspace. Conference rooms will feature the latest audiovisual technologies and tablets for easy booking. All individual offices will be a single size, with glass-fronted walls that let in natural light throughout the space—part of the firm's commitment to the “Right to Light”. “NGE’s new office at the top of The Bell is a milestone in Chicago law firm design. In addition to the project’s Net Zero and LEED Platinum objectives, the design prioritizes post-pandemic design principles: air, light and openness. Great care has been taken to achieve egalitarian daylight access, vertical connection of the firm’s collegial culture across three floors and optimization of spatial volumes that imbue a sense of hospitality and community engagement. This project sets a new standard for what balancing professional, timeless, forward-thinking spaces with a deep commitment to environmental stewardship can look like,” said Jim Prendergast, Principal, Gensler. Workplace as a Destination with Best-In-Class Amenities The Bell is set to redefine the workplace experience, offering a range of top-tier amenities designed to enhance the work-life balance of its tenants. These include a 10,500 square-foot state-of-the-art fitness center complete with wellness areas and a variety of fitness options to suit every preference. The building also boasts a 6,000-square-foot conference center with multi-purpose rooms, conference rooms, and pre-function space, accommodating up to 210 people. The Bell's expansive tenant lounges are designed for relaxation and socializing, with amenities like a library bar, pickleball courts, golf simulator, F1 simulators, cozy fireplaces, indoor/outdoor terraces, and vibrant social lounges. The 10,000 square-foot rooftop terrace features 360° views, private dining spaces, a Zen garden, firepits, and bookable cabanas. “We are excited to bring The Bell back to life. Re-imagining an iconic building in the heart of downtown Chicago is an exciting opportunity,” said Greg Wilks, Senior Vice President, Onni Group. “We sought to deliver a modern workplace that meets the changing needs of our tenants and their employees. NGE’s vision for their new home aligned perfectly with our plans. We look forward to welcoming NGE to take advantage of all The Bell has to offer.” About NGE Neal Gerber Eisenberg is a leading law firm dedicated to handling sophisticated matters for entrepreneurs, public companies, and private businesses and their owners. ( MENAFN - IANS) Melbourne, Dec 3 (IANS) Todd Greenberg has been announced as the new cricket Australia chief executive. He will succeed current CEO Nick Hockley, who announced in August he would leave the position at the end of the domestic summer in March. "Greenberg will bring a wealth of experience to the position from his roles across the sporting industry including as CEO of the National Rugby League and the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, General Manager of Stadium Australia and most recently as CEO of the Australian Cricketers' Association," Cricket Australia said in a release. Greenberg, the current Australian Cricketers' Association CEO and former CEO of the National Rugby League, will assume the post in March. He will become the 15th man to be either secretary or chief executive of the governing body for cricket in Australia since the organisation was first founded in March 1892 as the Australasian Cricket Council. Greenberg has an extensive background in cricket having played First Grade for Randwick in NSW Premier Cricket. He played 10 seasons for Randwick CC in Sydney between 1987 and 1997 as a top-order batter. The 53-year-old, who previously worked with Cricket NSW before transitioning to the chief executive role with the Canterbury Bulldogs. He then became the NRL chief executive in 2016, a position he held for four years. After leaving the NRL, he took on his current role as the chief of the Australian Cricketers' Association. “I am grateful to be given the opportunity to take on this enormously important role in Australian sport and to further my involvement with a game I've loved since childhood. This is an extremely exciting time for cricket with the rapid growth of the game across the globe creating fantastic opportunities, while also presenting some challenges to ensure Australian cricket retains its position at the very peak of the game. “Thanks to the work of the current administration the game has strong fundamentals in place. I want to ensure we build on this momentum so Australian cricket continues to thrive - from local parks to the nation's biggest stadiums," Greenberg said. Mike Baird, CA Chair said, "Todd will bring enormous experience to the role from his time leading the National Rugby League and his current position as CEO of the Australian Cricketers' Association, as well as his time in club and stadium management. "He is also a renowned driver of commercial growth and innovation, such as bringing the State of Origin to Melbourne and introducing the NRLW. We are entering a period of great opportunity and the recruitment panel and CA Board was enormously impressed by Todd's passion for cricket and his vision to build on the achievements of the past few years and continue the game's growth." "I would like to thank Nick Hockley who will leave the game in a position of great strength at the end of the season with important foundations including our broadcast rights deal, MOU and seven-year content strategy in place," he added. Fox News Flash top sports headlines are here. Check out what's clicking on Foxnews.com. The Cleveland Browns dropped to 3-9 after falling to the Denver Broncos on "Monday Night Football," but fans have to admit Jameis Winston has kept the team in games as the team’s starting quarterback. He's won games against two divisional opponents, the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers. With the first half clock winding down Monday, ESPN color commentator and Pro Football Hall of Famer Troy Aikman discussed the Browns’ quarterback situation. During his synopsis, he called Deshaun Watson, the embattled quarterback out for the remainder of the season, an "albatross." (David Rosenblum/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images) "You know, this is a tough league," Aikman began his monologue, via Awful Announcing. "And we all talk about parity. But when it comes to your hometown team, nobody wants to hear it. And Kevin Stefanski is an outstanding football coach, and he’s proven that. Two-time Coach of the Year. What he did to that group last year to get them in the postseason — they started four quarterbacks, they were decimated with injuries. "And I get it. You know, this year hasn’t been what people thought coming in, but the albatross is Deshaun Watson. If you go to Jameis Winston earlier in the year, does this look different? Because I would say the defensive struggles, in at least a small part, have had to do with how inept the offense has been moving the football. I think it’s affected the defensive play, as well." 2025 SUPER BOWL ODDS: LIONS HOLD STEADY, COMMANDERS SURGE Aikman doubled down later in the game when Winston had 355 passing yards and Jerry Jeudy caught six of those passes for 167 yards and a touchdown. "You can’t help but wonder what this year might have looked like for Cleveland if Jameis had taken over from the start or at least much sooner than when he did," Aikman said. "I know Deshaun Watson goes down with a torn Achilles, but it had been a real struggle offensively watching him." The Browns’ season is virtually over in terms of playoff contention, but the organization has a lot of evaluation to do at the quarterback position after Watson went 1-6 to start the season before tearing his Achilles against the Cincinnati Bengals Oct. 20. Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston passes the ball in the first quarter against the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High. (Ron Chenoy/Imagn Images) During those games, Watson threw for 1,148 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions, while getting sacked 33 times. Since Winston took over Stefanski’s offense, the Browns have gone 2-3 with the 30-year-old passing for 1,680 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions in the five games he’s started. The biggest issue with Watson is the $230 million contract he signed that has him under Cleveland control until the 2027 campaign, when he becomes an unrestricted free agent. Do the Browns want to see Watson recover and try to find his way again, hoping he can recreate the magic he had in Houston with the Texans? Or does the organization want to move on, especially considering off-the-field allegations that continue even after the numerous civil lawsuits that led to an 11-game suspension in 2022? Baramati Maharashtra Assembly Election Results 2024: Baramati, a prominent seat in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, is in the spotlight as all eyes turn to this crucial battleground. This time, the contest has taken an interesting turn with a face-off between two prominent Pawar family members. The experienced Ajit Pawar from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is up against Yugendra Pawar , who is backed by a combination of NCP and the Samajwadi Party (SP). However, this election is not just about Baramati; it holds wider implications for Maharashtra’s political future, especially in the western region. Baramati's key role in 2024 Maharashtra elections The stakes are high in Baramati, as it has become more than a local contest. The rivalry between Ajit Pawar and his uncle, Sharad Pawar, has given the election an added dimension. Ajit Pawar, after splitting from the NCP in 2022, aligned his faction with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and joined the ruling government. Despite his repeated victories, having won the Baramati seat seven times, the shift in allegiance has not been well received by traditional voters, as reflected in the results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. His faction’s performance was underwhelming, whereas Sharad Pawar 's faction secured eight out of the ten seats in the same elections. Ajit Pawar's allegiance to BJP and its impact The Baramati seat became the battleground for the first-ever "Pawar vs Pawar" showdown when Sharad Pawar’s daughter, Supriya Sule, triumphed over Ajit Pawar’s wife, Sunetra Pawar. The shift in loyalties has added a layer of intrigue to the upcoming assembly polls, as voters in the region seem to be leaning slightly toward Sharad Pawar’s influence. Sharad Pawar's stronghold in Western Maharashtra Western Maharashtra, with its significant sugarcane-producing districts like Sangli, Satara, Kolhapur, and Pune, has long been a stronghold of Sharad Pawar. His influence in these areas, dating back to when he founded the NCP, has given him an edge in the political landscape. As the Baramati elections unfold, the results here could mark a significant shift in the region’s political dynamics, potentially reshaping the future of Maharashtra’s governance.
