At this point, Libya Mark 2 would seem to be the most likely outcome, despite the celebrations in Syrian cities, with the Islamic State poised to try to take advantage. Assad’s deposition is a very late win for the Biden administration, which, like the Obama administration, has continued to fund and arm whichever Syrian rebels it determined were the least worst. It’s also an illustration of the limits of Vladimir Putin’s power. The once mighty Russia now can’t prop up its closest allies even with the support of Iran and major terrorist groups like Hezbollah. All Putin can do is offer a safe haven for the fleeing tyrant. It’s also problematic for Donald Trump, whose famously subtle idea of “diplomacy” will be tested by having to find a way to help prevent Syria from falling into chaos. He could start by ditching Tulsi Gabbard as his pick for director of national intelligence given her enthusiastic support for Assad . You may, if you’re a glutton for punishment, remember Murdoch buffoon Greg Sheridan lauding Trump as having “ greater deterrent credibility ” than Kamala Harris. Sheridan has never explained how appointing a Putin and Assad supporter as director of national intelligence demonstrated “greater deterrent credibility”, but the case, such as it is, took an almighty hit over the weekend. True freshman Luke Kromenhoek threw three touchdown passes and Caziah Holmes ran for two more as host Florida State routed Charleston Southern 41-7 on Saturday afternoon in Tallahassee, Fla. The Seminoles (2-9) convincingly snapped a six-game losing streak and ensured that the Buccaneers (1-11) would finish theirs on a 10-game skid. Florida State has not had much to celebrate during one of its worst seasons in program history. But on Saturday, the Seminoles overcame a rough start and put together one of their more complete efforts of the season. Florida State had not scored more than 21 points in a game prior to Saturday's contest and its 175 rushing yards more than doubled its average (80.5 per game) this season. No single runner had over 40 yards, but seven rushers combined for that output on 34 attempts. The Seminoles entered the game ranked 130th out of 133 FBS teams in rushing offense. Holmes, a senior, finished with three carries for 38 yards, including touchdown runs of 3 and 18 yards. Kromenhoek gave Florida State a sliver of hope for its quarterback future as he completed 13 of 20 passes for 209 yards and no interceptions. JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- CBS News New York has learned more about the victims of Friday night's fiery car crash in Newark . Investigators say all six people inside the car were killed when it was traveling near the ramp of Routes 1 and 9 southbound, somehow became airborne, and hit a Pulaski Skyway support column, before bursting into flames on the ground. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office will be providing an update on the investigation into the fatal accident on Monday at 3 p.m. in Newark. According to the Archdiocese of Newark, two football coaches from Hudson Catholic High School were among the victims of the fatal crash. The archdiocese released a statement, which reads, in part: "They were dedicated educators and mentors who made a lasting impact on players, students and colleagues." The statement also says that classes will be cancelled at the school on Monday, and counselors will be on site to support the community. One of the victims was assistant coach Brad Cunningham. His parents said the family is too distraught to speak, but warm wishes from friends poured in on social media, including from Rutgers University head coach Greg Schiano, who wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that Cunningham "was a member of our first recruiting class and laid the foundation of the Rutgers football program." Hudson Catholic High School head coach Lamar McKnight and his brother, Darryl, were also among those killed in the crash. On Saturday night, their loved ones released balloons into the sky in their memory. Their heartbroken mother said Lamar was a star college football player-turned coach, and Darryl was a counselor. "I loved my sons ... They lived ... my little cousin ... they lived, they enjoyed life ... You see the support I have here.
