After rough start under coach Mike Macdonald, the Seahawks' defense has become a strengthMikel Arteta has urged Arsenal to end their away day blues in the Champions League by beating Sporting Lisbon . The Gunners have struggled away from home in Europe’s elite club competition under Arteta, winning just one of seven games on the road. Arsenal have lost all of their last four away games in the Champions League and failed to find the net in that time, too. A trip to Sporting is next up on Tuesday and Arteta believes it is a good moment for his side to make a statement. “It’s certainly something we have to improve,” he said. “We have the right steps, and looking back at the way we played against Inter, against a team that has been so dominant in the league, were in the Champions League final and should have won it. “We played and dominated the game we should have won. But the reality is you have to make it happen, and we didn’t. “Those steps are what we have to take next, be ruthless and be much more efficient in the opposition box, and when we get there do what we have to do to take the three points away from here. “Not all of the games have been the same. It’s true that some of those games were when we’d already qualified. “But it’s true we have to improve the results and we have to find the ways to understand what has been missing. “Sometimes it’s been performance to be fair, and sometimes it’s been different aspects, and that’s the next step we have to make as a team.” Arsenal’s lack of goals has been a particular worry and the last player to score for them away from home in the Champions League was Eddie Nketiah in December of last year. “The efficiency we have shown inside the box, at this level, with the number of chances you are normally able to generate in the Champions League, has not been at the level that is required to win consistently,” he said. “I always say the Champions League is about the boxes, small margins and details, and you have to get all those right to win, especially away from home.”Creative Global Technology Holdings Ltd Prices 1.25M Share IPO at $4/shSEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks rode their dominant defense to a big win over a division rival to vault into first place in the NFC West. No, it isn’t 2013. These are the 2024 Seahawks, who, after struggling mightily against the run earlier this season, held the visiting Arizona Cardinals to 49 rushing yards in Sunday's 16-6 victory . The defensive line kept Kyler Murray under consistent pressure thanks to a dominant performance from Leonard Williams, the secondary flew around to smack away passes, and safety Coby Bryant scored on a 69-yard pick-6. Sunday's defensive performance was reminiscent of the Seahawks of a decade ago and a promising sign that first-year coach Mike Macdonald’s system is starting to click. Macdonald, who coordinated Baltimore's NFL-best defense last year, was leading one of the worst rush defenses in the league earlier this season. But Seattle consistently stuffed the Cardinals, who came in as the fifth-best running team in the league at 149.4 yards per game. “Three games in a row now we played pretty decent on defense,” Macdonald said. “There is an expectation and standard here throughout the course of our Seahawks history that we’re trying to live up to and build on. So that’s the idea.” At 6-5, the Seahawks drew even with the Cardinals in the tightly bunched division. The teams play each other again in two weeks at Arizona. Last month's trade for linebacker Ernest Jones IV has clearly paid off. Seattle hasn't allowed a running back to rush for more than 79 yards since its Week 8 loss to Buffalo, which was Jones' first game in a Seahawks uniform. He has led the team in tackles in every game he's played and has helped resurrect the run defense. The Seahawks' run game continues to underperform. Seattle got 65 yards on the ground Sunday, with the Cardinals holding Kenneth Walker III to 41 yards on 16 attempts. Zach Charbonnet had 22 yards on six carries. Walker hasn’t topped 100 yards since Week 1. Offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb needs to think of something different to get the running backs involved. Williams single-handedly disrupted the Cardinals with 2 1/2 sacks, four quarterback hits, three tackles for loss and one pass defensed. “I thought he was dominant,” Macdonald said. “I knew he played great and then I looked at the stat line and he played out of his mind.” The Seahawks finished with five sacks, seven quarterback hits, five tackles for loss and six pass deflections against the Cardinals, shutting down a team that had averaged 29.3 points over its previous three games. Geno Smith finished with 254 yards passing and a touchdown, but he threw another momentum-stalling interception. Smith was picked off on a third-and-6 play on the Arizona 18-yard line at the start of the fourth quarter, ending an 11-play, 73-yard drive. Smith has an NFL-most 12 interceptions this season, more than in either of his previous two seasons as the Seahawks' full-time starter. “That was a huge drive for us. ... Obviously made a terrible mistake down there, something I got to clean up,” Smith said. “But it was a big drive. We wanted to put the game ahead at least two scores.” The offensive line has contributed to the problem. Guard Anthony Bradford left with an ankle injury, and the line struggled to protect Smith, who was sacked five times. Macdonald said Bradford is expected to miss next week's game. 77 — Jaxon Smith-Njigba led the team with six catches for 77 yards and a touchdown, marking the fourth consecutive game that Smith-Njigba has led the team in receptions. He topped 100 yards receiving in the previous two games. “He’s getting open,” Smith said. “He’s catching the ball. He’s doing a great job in the screen game. All-around great player. I just think the way that teams are playing us coverage-wise, I feel like it’s the ultimate sign of respect.” The Seahawks play at the struggling New York Jets on Sunday. I kept them on for 30 minutes and then toweled my feet off, and the tingling sensation slowly faded over the next 30 minutes. See why this reviewer loves this cleansing oil for glass skin on TikTok ! Promising review: "This is my first time ordering an oil-based cleanser and I’m so glad I purchased this one. I originally saw this product on TikTok and wanted to see what the hype was all about. After using the cleanser on my dry face for 2–3 minutes, I could visibly see my white- and blackheads on my fingers. I was a little hesitant to try oil cleansing because I have acne-prone skin, however, my face has never looked better. After each use, my face is as soft as a baby's bottom and my scarring doesn’t look as deep! The cleanser has a light clean scent. Not super strong! My duvet is kinda thick and the Pinions pierced through with no problems! Plus with a little extra room if I had some extra layers. I REALLY like how you have to have the magnet tool to pull them apart . Other duvet tools I’ve seen just plain suck. The clips are never reliable and the ties just don’t stay. It also works on my roller carry-on handle during layovers. However, I find myself using it a lot outside of travel too! Work-wise, I've clamped it onto my office desk shelving to hold my phone at eye level beside my computer . Check out what BuzzFeed Shopping writer Emma Lord thinks of this awesome little tool: "I picked up this color removal sponge from Amazon after hearing about this hack on TikTok and can testify that it actually works SO well. I cut open each of the three sections of the inner cushions of each back cushion, re-stuffed them, and sewed them back up. It took me about a day and half. Since I started using it, my primer and foundation goes on a whole lot smoother, and I'm struggling a whole lot less to cover my pores. After using it a few weeks, I read the advice of one reviewer to put this on when your face is slightly moist from washing , rub it in, let it dry, and then put your moisturizer on top of it — I've found that it's what got me the best results!" Promising review : "I caved to the TikTok hype and now I am obsessed, lol! I have extremely sensitive skin but this was the first product that I didn’t have to go through a 'getting used to' phase." — Shelby Get it from Amazon for $19.50 . 29. Some bedsheet tags so you never again make the bed only to realize you put the short side on the long side and you have to start all over again. They are also super helpful for organizing your linen closet so you don't have to pull every single sheet out just to find the size you are looking for. Bed Corner Labels is a woman-owned small business based in Hermosa Beach, California. These labels can be left on sheets while they're in the washer and dryer. They can be detached and reattached a limited number of times. Promising review: "They're easy to attach to sheets and look better than the safety pin I was using to designate the long side of my king-size sheets." — ESimms5555 Get four labels from Bed Corner Labels on Etsy for $13.75+ (available in larger sets and 11 styles). 30. A TubShroom to protect your drain from the *disturbing* amount of hair that comes out of your head every time you shower. Maybe it is just me, but I would rather prevent the hair from going down the drain than have to dig soggy, dirty hair out. Ugh, that sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it. 😖 Promising review: "I was mentioning at work one day that I had moved into a new place and had already had to use Drano in my shower. I said I was going to buy the best product I could find to catch hair before it went down the drain to clog it. One of my coworkers asked me if I meant a TubShroom and I replied that I had never heard of one. I looked it up on Amazon, purchased it, and have never looked back. I recommend them to everyone! I have not had to use Drano in my house since I purchased it! Super easy to clean! Once or twice a week when the water in my tub starts to stand during my shower, I’ll pull it out, clean it with a paper towel, and it’s good as new!" — Erin Get it from Amazon for $12.99+ (available in five colors and a two-pack). 31. Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen perfect if you're finally realizing all the advice about wearing sunscreen every day isn't actually a myth and you should be protecting your face. This is a great choice to add to your morning routine since it works as a makeup primer, isn't greasy, and won't leave any gnarly residue behind like the sunscreens you've been avoiding for years. BuzzFeed Shopping editor Natalie Brown is a big fan of this stuff: "I've been using this sunscreen at least once daily since my mom gifted it to me two Christmases ago, and have every intention to keep using it for years. A dime-size amount covers my entire face, because it's translucent it leaves absolutely no white cast, and 10 minutes after putting it on, my face just feels like I applied a little bit of a nice moisturizer or makeup primer , not anything that's grease-central, like sunscreen usually is. After several years of stubbornly trying (and failing) to find a decent, oily-skin-friendly, non-greasy drugstore option, I've caved to this pricier kind because literally none of the six or seven other options I tried even compared to this. Every time I've worn makeup since I got it, I've been impressed by the way my matte foundation glides over it, looks with it, and lasts with it. You can see the texture and color in the photo above; it really does go on completely clear. And it's water- and sweat-resistant for 40 minutes!" Get it from Amazon for $18+ (available in two sizes) or from Sephora for $22+ (available in two sizes). The reviews used in this post have been edited for length and clarity.

Affirm's CFO Robert O'Hare sells $8.26m in stock transactions

An NYPD sergeant who made more than $200,000 last year including nearly $55,000 in overtime assigned to a headquarters unit that takes ID card photographs was arrested Saturday for allegedly shoplifting cough medicine, according to officials, records and police sources. Sgt. Rayna Madho, listed as a detective squad commander, was suspended without pay about 10 p.m. Saturday after her arrest in Nassau County, NYPD records show. A Nassau County police spokesman said Madho, 41, of Queens was charged with 2 counts of petit larceny for two separate incidents on Dec. 7 and Nov. 24 at the Target store on Sunrise Highway in Valley Stream, L. I. She was issued a desk appearance ticket and ordered to return to court on Dec. 27, Nassau police said. Madho was accused in the Dec. 7 incident of stealing Zarbee’s Cough Syrup which retails for $9.99 at Target and Riccola Cough Drops which retail for $4.99 at the store, a law enforcement source said. Madho is assigned to the SIU Photographic Squad, which takes photos for official identification cards at police headquarters. She joined the unit in March 25, 2022. In total, Madho made $201,625 in fiscal 2024, the most recently available figure, including $126,211 in base pay, $54,939 for 555 hours of overtime and $20,475 in other pay, city payroll records show. Madho is the vice president of the influential Desi Society , an umbrella NYPD fraternal group that represents cops of South Asian heritage. Reached by phone, Madho initially said “No” when asked by a reporter with the Daily News if she was arrested and then ended the call. An NYPD spokesperson declined comment except to confirm she was suspended without pay. She previously was assigned to the photo unit, detective squads in the 7th and 13th Precincts and two commands in Brooklyn, according to 50-a.org. She has been a defendant in five civil lawsuits which settled for a total of $161,000. In one of those suits filed in 2019, video allegedly showed Madho dropping a pill bottle in a car while her police partner arrested motorist Abdul Pullium back in 2015, Gothamist reported . Pulliam’s lawyer alleged the video showed officers planting the bottle, Gothamist reported. The suit settled for $7,500, a relative drop in the bucket when compared to other police settlements. Madho joined the force in January 2006. She was promoted to detective and sergeant in 2013 and to detective squad commander in 2021. In a March social media post for Women’s History Month, the Sergeants Benevolent Association said Madho was born in Trinidad, moved to the U.S. at age 12 and graduated from York College.

LOS ANGELES — Go to Phoenix on Monday, play Tuesday. Fly to San Antonio late Tuesday and play the next day. Back to Los Angeles late on Thanksgiving eve, off for the holiday and then play the Thunder on Friday. Fly to Utah the next day, play the Jazz on Sunday. Then off to Minnesota on Sunday night, land late and play the Timberwolves on Monday. Then go to Miami for a game Wednesday. Then go to Atlanta for a game Friday. Off for a day, then host Portland on Sunday. And then, for the first time in weeks, exhale for 48 hours. The Lakers practiced Wednesday after two full days off, a rare oasis in an early schedule that featured them playing six preseason games outside of Los Angeles only to begin the season with the second-most road games in the Western Conference through their first 24 contests. The time off is a benefit of elimination from the NBA Cup, the Lakers idle during the knockout games this week. While the more than $500,000 in prize money eluded them, they got something that could be more valuable. JJ Redick said the team used the time to first relax and then regroup. The Lakers coach met individually with players Tuesday as the team begins an advantageous stretch of schedule. Wednesday the Lakers tried to maximize it with the kind of practice, Redick said, they haven’t had in two months. “We have a great opportunity the rest of the month. Today was one of six potential practice days that we have and we got a lot done today,” Redick said. “And I think the group came with a good, workmanlike approach and yeah, we’re going to try to get better. We’re going to try to get better. I thought coming off of Friday, coming off of Sunday — where we played the right way where we were competitive, we were together, connected, all of those things — we have something to build on.” The building, though, didn’t begin with a whole team. LeBron James didn’t meet with Redick on Tuesday and didn’t practice Wednesday, an excused absence for personal reasons keeping him away from the court. Redick said he was unsure whether James would travel with the team to Minneapolis. Austin Reaves, who has missed the Lakers’ last five games after a scary fall during the loss to Oklahoma City, returned to practice and is trending toward a return. “Both of them, it seems like, are sort of day to day and just kind of wait and see how it looks tomorrow and see how it looks Friday,” Redick said when asked about James and Reaves. After games with Minnesota on Friday and Memphis at home Sunday, the Lakers again have another three-day stretch between games, giving them more chances for physical practices like Wednesday’s workout. “It’s good, honestly, just to get to bump against each other, I think, because that’s how it is in a game, right?” guard Max Christie said. “You’re going to be bumping against guys and bruising against guys. So it’s good to kind of feel that competitive level and competitive energy — even against each other as teammates — because it makes it that much easier to compete with each other when we’re out playing in a real game. So I think it’s advantageous, for sure.” ©2024 Los Angeles Times. Visit at latimes.com . Distributed by Tribune Content Agency, LLC.
