RED BLUFF— The Red Bluff Kiwanis Club and North Valley Services made stockings for all the dogs and cats that will be adopted during the holiday season. They arrived at the Tehama County Animal Care Center Thursday morning to deliver their gifts. Red Bluff Kiwanis Club Advisor Lisa Hansen estimated 88 stockings were donated to help the animal get a good start in its new life. The Action Club, Red Bluff Kiwanis Club and North Valley Services had a donation drive to get cat and dog treats and toys. “They love donating to the animal shelter,” Hansen said. “That is part of a big part of their heart.” The Action Club is part of Red Bluff Kiwanis. It is a service club for developmentally disabled adults. Similar to the Key Club at the high school, The Action Club’s goal is to do community service throughout Tehama County. Animal Care Center Manager Christine McClintock shared that the adopted event will run through Dec. 17. All the dogs are $45, and all the cats are $35. The shelter has been doing well with adoptions daily and hopes to keep that up through the seventeenth. “The stockings are just a kind of a gift reward for adopters to get to take home just to add a little bit of festiveness and a little bit of extra excitement, and it is really fun and, especially families that come in with kids,” McClintock said. Care Center Volunteer Ronnie Casey said anything not used during the holiday season will be used later for the animals at the shelter, so everything will eventually be used. These stocking stuffers have been done before. Last year, the Girl Scouts helped out, while Coivd put a damper on this for a bit. But now they are back and stronger than ever. “(I) just that hope people will come down for the adoption,” Casey said. “It will be running till the seventeenth. The fees are inexpensive. All the animals will be spayed, neutered and have their vaccinations.”
The sun shone brightly overhead, its golden rays illuminating the path ahead as Mark ran, the cool wind whipping against his face. The streets were bustling with life, people going about their daily routines, oblivious to the momentous occasion that was unfolding before him. Mark's mind raced with questions as he ran, his legs carrying him farther away from the prison walls with each passing moment.
Title: Tragic Death of Single Woman in Rental Home Raises Concerns – Local Authorities Respond with Reassurance of Non-Criminal Nature
As the argument escalated, the man became increasingly agitated and threatened to smash his phone if he was forced to prove his innocence. The woman, undeterred by his threats, continued to demand evidence that no photos had been taken. Other passengers in the vicinity attempted to mediate the situation, urging both parties to remain calm and find a peaceful resolution.Must protect our aquifer If you are reading this letter, there’s a fair chance you live in one of the 14 counties that get their water from the Mahomet Aquifer. Recently, a measure was held up by the Senate Executive Committee in Springfield that would have banned the injection of carbon dioxide through or storage of it under our aquifer. The ban is needed to protect our water supply from heavy-metal contamination, acidification and salinization if stored CO2 were to leak. Several corporations are poised to inject CO2 right through the Mahomet Aquifer for the purpose of storing it deep underground because they stand to gain substantial tax credits/rebates by doing so. But the aquifer was designated as a sole-source aquifer by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 2015. That means it supplies over 50 percent of the area’s drinking water and there are no other alternative drinking-water sources. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees that this technology won’t fail and contaminate our water supply. As proof of the threat, this year, two leaks occurred at Archer Daniels Midland’s sequestration monitoring wells in Decatur. This is all the warning we need. Please contact state Sen. Paul Faraci, D-Champaign, and state Rep. Carol Ammons, D-Urbana. Thank them for sponsoring the bill to keep the Mahomet Aquifer safe and urge them to keep fighting for a ban on carbon sequestration to keep our water safe. Talk to your friends and neighbors and make them aware of the threat. Add your voice in opposition to the proposals that threaten public health in our area. CHRISTINE MAIN Champaign
